My twins are due in May and it would be nice to have other multiple-mums-to-be to chat to!

Hi - it's going to feel like an eternity, I look 6 months gone already. At least I'm very tall.

At 12 week scan, sonographer said one placenta (so ID), but I didn't think she was sure, and after freaking myself out about TTTS I went back to the consultant who did a long scan and confirmed two placenta (so could be either ID or non). Only other possibiity of finding out now is if they're different sexes, I guess - and not sure if I want to know. I'm not sure if it will be impossible to avoid noticing at the later scans though? I'm starting to feel more energised and human, after a crappy first trimester.

Sounds like you're coping brilliantly, getting some sleep after 8 weeks is something I hadn't even dared hope for. Are you enjoying it or too spaced out to know ?

I am back from hols in france. Was lovely.

TWINKLE, that's so exciting. They are good weights, for all the worrying, and so glad the 'reduced liquor' (Callum or Connor?) is well and healthy.

I have a scan on Wednesday next week. Gonna confirm whether girl/ boy.

Pazza, I live in Forest Gate, near Stratford. I think I've decided on Phil and Ted's double buggy cos it is the ONLY side by side one that will fit through our door (still not a definite). Decided icandy was toooo expensive and also can only put babies in carrycots or car seats when small (and not keen on babies in car seats), so does end up ridiculous price when you buy all the bits...I got a second hand buggy for ds and just REALLY want a new one this time!!!

Not heard from accessorize for a bit, hoping you are ok accessorize and just busy.

Pazza and Neenz, will be coming to you for all the advice...sounds like you are both doing so well. I just can't imagine 2, I was a zombie with 1! I know you cope because you have to, but I would like to enjoy it a bit too...please reassure!!!

Neenztwinz · 04/07/2008 09:44

Oh it really is very enjoyable, MM, your babies will become local celebrities. Once you get the nights sorted (once I figured out how to feed lying down/asleep it got so much better - a real plus side of BFing!) it is great. You do have to be very organised otherwise you will never get out of the house on time.

I have the mountain buggy pram and it is wonderful, I really love the carrycot, don't think it would be the same if they were in the buggy already, not as cute! I got the carrycot attachment from ebay for £55 (they are £180 new) so not too expensive. The pram itself was £550 so got it all for just over £600.

GBB at the later scans they couldn;t tell the sex, I certainly couldn't have worked it out. We found otu we were having a boy at 20 weeks and girl at 28 weeks. I think if you don't want to know it is possible. I found knowing good for getting organised with clothes and decorating.

GettingBiggerBird · 04/07/2008 10:57

I can't help looking at buggies already, though it's far too early - and too big to have lying around before it's needed. My husband built a bike shed instead of buying one so he could make it big enough for 2 bikes and a double buggy - but we can hardly get the 2 bikes in (and he rebuilt in once as well!) .

Still undecided about finding out the sexes, though I've been getting my DD to talk to the babies and she said 'hello, lovely little baby girls' this morning. It would be a shame to have her sobbing just after the birth when being introduced to 2 brothers.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2008 22:28

Thanks for reassurance, Neenz. I am the most disorganised/ un-routine person on the planet though! (cos I'm creative, yeah)!!! Eeeek, errrrr, ummmm. Guess I will learn quickly. I used to bf ds lying down/ sleeping, we co-slept for 7 months. How do your babies sleep? Do they share a cot?

I liked the mountain bug but is too wide for our doorway. Gonna try a Phil and Ted's and see if it fits, otherwise will have to go to a tandem. Really want one which fits in the house as I don't fancy putting little babies in and out of buggy outside when they are born in Winter and I don't have an option of when I leave the house as need to take ds to playschool, toddler group etc. so if it is tipping down or snowing etc. it won't be easy!!

Neenztwinz · 05/07/2008 14:22

MM the babies sleep in a cot together, one at each end now cos they are too big to sleep next to each other now. They will be too big for one cot soon (only 8 weeks old - their heads are nearly touching though). It is a bedside cot which has a side which drops right down and under the cot, so it sits right up against the bed. It was great for when they were newborns. Now I don't even sleep in the same room as them, they are in the nursery (where they have always slept, I used to sleep in with them) and I am in my lovely comfy big bed with my DH.

I know they say stay with them until 6 months but they are so noisy even when they sleep, and often they are noisy and take a while to settle. If I am in another room I only hear them when they really need me. We don't bother having the monitor on as they are only a few yards away. But I sometimes wake up when they cry and then fall asleep and dream that I have gone to feed them, only to wake up 10 minutes later to find I am still in bed and they are still crying . They survive though!

MerryMarigold · 05/07/2008 18:02

Thanks for that neenz. we didn't use monitor with ds either. not sure what will happen this time as 'their room' is quite far from our room and ds's (other end of the house). we'll see...a friend of mine with twin girls said they need to go in their own room asap if you are to retain some sanity and looked at me like I was mad when I said they would be in with me for 6 months! I will cross that bridge when I come to it, but reassuring we only need one cot for now...

talking of crying babies...i remember when i was in hospital and there was this baby crying and crying, i was soooo tired myself as hadn't slept for a couple of days - and in my half asleep state I was wishing that stupid mother would JUST PICK UP HER CHILD and feed it. it went on for ages, before I realised it was actually MY BABY .

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 08:29

Hullo again, thanks for suggesting I came back over MM. I'm too thinking about buggies and cots in my room! I could barely fit a moses basket in for ds2 last time so not sure what to do although we did kick both ds's out by a month or so and we all slept better as a result (although I often co-slept in ds2's room which was nice).

MM, I have a friend with phil & ted's twin who loves it (she offered me her coccoons) but I was a bit concerned by weight plus the review from a pramseller on here. but I like idea of coccoons so they're more comfy as like you I can't have a carrycot (sob). Is Duowalker same width as MB & thus wouldn't fit either? What about XTS Twister or Baby Jogger? I wanted a nipper but that wouldn't fit so looking at an MB plus poss. something for the car to do school/nursery runs. Both secondhand. Nursery is being painted by my lovely mother (thanks mum!) next week just have to sort curtains and colour in time for her to do it.

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 08:49

oooh, i never heard of Duowalker, or XTS Twister or Baby Jogger. I will have a look! Basically needs to be 29inches at the MAX. I didn't realise the P & T was heavy. Was going to look at one in a shop first anyway...but will check these out on the net. What did the reviewer say in summary?

I am not feeling too good at the moment. Grown out of half my maternity clothes, particularly the nicer ones! Am only 22 weeks, going on 23. Had my scan last week and babies were fine, so that's good. Seem to be good sizes, above average (above average for singleton babies!). I am huge. The babies are both transverse/ breech which is a bit uncomfortable. I wish they would go 'vertical' and move out to the side a bit as it is very uncomfortable with a baby lying right across my bladder. I'd rather carry some weight on my hips but it's all out the front at the moment and I am quite a bit of tummy pain.

Ah, moan, moan, moan. I can't bend anymore, have to kneel on the floor just to get a saucepan out and then it is a killer standing up! Ds is at playschool for one more week and then we'll see how we cope over the summer. Think I will be at my mum's a fair bit .

Your 3 days off sound delicious. Why did doctor sign you off? Were there some issues? Are you in pain? I hope twin's liquid sorts itself out? Is it a big issue? What affect can it have? Does it just make you larger or is it more dangerous than that? Twinkle had too little fluid on one twin...did you see that she had her boys?

We have room for one cot in our room, but that's it...if it's not working out with twins in our room, we can transfer them to the 'spare room' but will then need to get a sofa bed if people stay over (my mum and dad are planning to stay one night a week each).

I can't keep up with the 'd'ya ever' threads and my ante-natal thread, so have been coming here as there's not many people around and it moves a bit slower!!!

oooggs · 13/07/2008 11:28

just popping in

my dts are 15mths

they shared a cot until 5 mths - they were big twins 6lb14oz & 7lb14oz

and I have a double nipper - which I love and it fits through my front door

I am now looking at single ones again

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 17:06

Boo hoo.Only one that fits is the Baby Jogger (Nipper and Mountain Buggy are too large by a couple of cm's). But Baby Jogger is not fully reclinable so not suitable from birth. Oh well. Gotta stick with the P & T even if it's very heavy.

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 17:09

oooggs - thanks for your advice on cot. when did twins go in own room? congrats on another baby...does that mean you need a triple buggy?!!!

They were big twins! Were you really huge? I am really huge. I am not joking. Everyone is commenting and it's getting me down a bit. I am only 22 weeks and I am larger/ as large as my friend who is due today (and she's not THAT tiny, believe me).

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 17:13

15months, ooogs ,I bet it's whizzed past! I'd love to think of a single buggy in the future (sigh).

Merry, doesn't take much to make you knackered does it? Sorry you're having a bad time of it, transverse & breech sounds nasty! I think one of mine is breech but I'm relatively comfortable with it at the mo (largely due to rest). What size are you as I've outgrown some mat. wear recently (mostly 16/18) and a mumsnetter sent me a skirt that won't fit round my middle but might yours? I bought a couple of things at mcare sale yesterday as it's bad enough being pg with twins much less not having anything comfy to wear! I got jersey black skirt too which I suspect I"ll be wearing for months after the birth. Skirts only thing fitting now really.

I have all of those buggies bookmarked for my own search (I think we're 75cms Max don't know how many inches) so will look up for you tonight and post back.

Do you have no childcare over summer, just term-time arggggh! DS1 is at school in 7 weeks, ds2 staying in nursery whilst I'm on mat leave 2 days a week plus my mum is still happy to take them for a day a week which is wonderful.

Reason dr signed me off is I need to rest basically, I feel fine no pain just the extra fluid around one of the twins. Ultrasound tomorrow to get a better picture. Have you found out sexes yet?

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 17:15

Merry, did you look at baby jogger mini 28.5 inches wide? From birth.

oooggs · 13/07/2008 20:09

MM - yes expecting end of January when dts will be 22 mths - no triple here, one will have to walk or sit on pushchair hood .

I need a single for when dts are nursery and for when dh or any other willing help is about

We moved out of their room at 5 mths when they needed their own cots, no space (dt2 was too noisy!!!)

I was the size of a whale - I couldn't walk or breathe and I put my back out twice. I begged to be induced and they did at bang on 38 weeks

On my profile (at the bottom of the photos) is a picture of them cot sharing at about 4 mths

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 22:02

accessorize - THANKYOU. Baby jogger mini looks great, it'll definitely fit our doorway (.5cm under!) and a good price too...not to mention orange is my FAVOURITE colour!!! It's a poss. I did really want pneumatic tyres but could maybe get a normal baby jogger from ebay for when they are older.

I have grown out of some mat. clothes already. African dresses are a good bet - they are very, very full. Need to get some under bump jersey trousers to go with them. How many weeks are you now, accessorize? I am 23 weeks on Tuesday. I am usually a 12-14. My 12-14 maternity stuff I got last time is mostly too small now, but any things I have bought this time I got 16-18 maternity, and they fit for now, even though they are large on top.

oooggs - my gosh, what a story! I am dreading that! Guessing you had a natural delivery then. I was really large with ds and he was 8lb3. I can't bear the thought of 2 nearly that size inside me. At last scan (22wks) they were both between 50th and 95th centile on all measurememnts. I am eating like a horse as well. I know it's better for them to be bigger and healthier, but trying to run after a toddler for the next 7 weeks as well [petrified emoticon!].

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 22:09

oooggs, meant to say that I checked out your pics before and the twins pics encouraged me a lot, especially as I am in line for a boy and a girl too...Erin is one of accessorize's shortlisted names, and ours, so we could all end up with Erins!!! (Though dh is coming slowly round to Blythe).

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 22:16

Oh, good merry re: buggy at least! Pneumatic tyres are fab, though, hmmm. Maybe there's something else out there? I did think the red was quite nice actually but remember you're mad on orange! You still haven't said whether you know sexes yet? I haven't been given any indication of growth for my two, perhaps tomorrow? My ds's were 9lb and 7lb 7.

Re: clothes am serious if there's anything of mine you want. I think there are some cropped h&m trousers with the rolldown top in black which I only wore once! Also a m&S skirt with under bump band which another mumsnetter sent me but doesn't fit.I'm normally a 16 so god knows what tents I'll end up in (not sure where I would find african dresses in Yorkshire tbh). Mcare had some good black jersey trousers, not too pricey. I do feel quite drab, normally I accessorize (obviously) but can't be bothered lately!

Ooogs you are one game lady, twins mustn't be that bad if you decided to risk it again! I am meant to be induced at 38 and I think I'll be praying for it too! Lovely to see piccies of them, they're gorgeous

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 22:25

accessorize - a girl and boy too. like you and oooggs! (though not sure if i am trusting the scans after the triplets fiasco - i will be disappointed if 2 boys come out!). they didn't really tell me much about size at the scan, i just read the printout sheet! you can always ask though. hope it goes well for you tomorrow at the scan. let us know...

MerryMarigold · 14/07/2008 15:32

Clothes sound great, accessorize. I'd LOVE them and hope they fit for another month or so . I could email you my address. My email is [email protected]. I will get you an African dress in return when I find out where to get them. What kind of colours do you like - they are bound to be fairly...ummm...colourful! But I may be able to get something 2-tone eg. red/ black. They are huge and cotton, so nice and cool for summer even if just for hanging around the house.

accessorizequeen · 14/07/2008 15:39

Hey merry. Scan fine, twin 1 still has too much fluid so risk still up for prem.labour and no going back to work. I looked at the measurements and they seemed about 75 percentile each eeek. Both breech at present, but she didn't seem concerned. Kicking pretty uncomfortable lately, that'll be why!

I'll mail you re: clothes, african dress sounds fab! I'm a pale-skinned freckled redhead btw, red looks great usually. Let's hope we both get wear out of them. I got that scan stuff all over my trousers this morning, looks like you know what, how embarrassing!

MerryMarigold · 14/07/2008 20:29

ooooh, hope your daughter is pale -skinned redhead too. Iris would be PERFECT for her . You can do a deal with dh, he names the boy and you name the girl! Was thinking of doing that with dh and surprising each other!

accessorizequeen · 14/07/2008 20:32

Yes, it would be nice, but don't think dp is going to do a deal with me about it, it's crossed off my list! My boys aren't redheads, one dark brown, one blond curls!
