hi MM
i am going to call them on monday and check i get the right sizes, i think it is the bottom one for the carrycots and moses baskets. i am not sure what will fit the twin MB matress but i am going to call MB and get a new one if possible.

the MB looks good, it doesnt look like a recall one and looks in good condition. i would offer to do cash on collection outside e-bay, you might get it cheaper as they dont have to pay fees. but you dont get to leave feedback so you need to check it over really well before you buy. i dont understand why they can only do BIN one week before ending, it could be an e-bay rule?

MerryMarigold · 24/08/2008 21:47

thanks mel. i will suggest it to them...

mel2005 · 25/08/2008 08:25

MM have they changed the listing time it now says 1d 5hrs and it does have a bid now.

morning everyone, i looks like its going to be a nice day so we are off to the aylsham show after i have done a load of washing.

i used the MB single carseat adapters last night to try and fit them on the double. i managed to get two adapters on with a bit of adaption and was delighted when the first car seat went on like a dream but the second car seat didnt fit because the car seats are too wide. DARN!!!!
might figure out a way to fit them on facing either way. just thought it would be a good solution for the nursery pick-up/drop-off during nap time problem.

got my 20wk scan tomorrow!!!! cant stop thinking about it

GettingBiggerBird · 25/08/2008 10:47

Morning all, shame it's grey down here on the south coast but we're off to the shops. Good luck for tomorrow Mel, I know how nervous I was before mine so lots of calm vibes coming your way!

mel2005 · 25/08/2008 15:07

well we had a good day at the show, the weather was nice, not too hot and a nice breeze. stocked up on locally made jams and chutneys, almost bought some more chickens, watched some showjumping and had a look at alot of sheep/cows/goats etc (i didnt touch any) saw loads of 7 seater cars/vans. children are now tired out and are having a nap. unfortunately OH was working so i had to go alone with the children, it will be madness next year with four of them!!!

MerryMarigold · 25/08/2008 17:07

Hi peeps. Well, we got our car today. YIPEE. We got a Previa in the end. It's not new, but seems good and only one owner. It's really easy to handle (easier than our current car), but will be a nightmare parking the beast at Tesco's. Am pleased with sliding doors as will be a lot easier to get kids out. Gonna pick it up next Sat. Bit tired now, but relieved to have the biggest 'thing' out of the way. Although I have spent a lot more time researching buggies than cars .

Mel, yeah, there have been a few bids on that MB as well. Bit annoyed as it is going over what I offered WITHOUT the carrycot. I don't want to bid on it with the carrycot 'cos I don't want it and can't be bothered to resell it. I asked them to remove it from sale for me, but had no reply. Guess they are seeing what they can get for it, more than I've offered no doubt, with the carrycot as well. Hope your scan goes really well tomorrow...as far as I remember you don't want to know sexes, right?

mel2005 · 25/08/2008 17:23

oh i do want to know the sexes, i did with all of mine. i'm afraid i am a bit of a planner and like to have everything i can ready for them. i also want too know if i can get rid of any of the clothes i have been saving since we started trying for another baby. i also like to decide on names as well.

congratulations on the car, they do look nice, i would like to get ours sorted as its the only thing left to do. OH is so busy at work he doesnt have any time to even think about it at the moment.

accessorizequeen · 25/08/2008 20:21

Hope you're still enjoying your break, GBB...
Merry, congrats on the car, an excellent choice I am sure. We're test driving a Kia Sedona tomorrow which I hope is good as I want electric doors and the Galaxy doesn't have them. DP much more worried about it than I am, I don't figure we'll be all going out together for some time anyway and we have 2 cars at present with enough car seats (5, about to buy another!).

Mel, fingers crossed for your scan, sure all is well and you'll feel much relieved and excited afterwards!

I am off to measure my bump as so many people this weekend have told me how much bigger I am (yet apparently quite neat, hmm).

MerryMarigold · 25/08/2008 20:38

hey accessorize, can you post a pic of your bump? have you seen mine? .

the kia sedonas look nice, we saw one with lovely leather interior, and v. reasonable - was sorely tempted - but it is SO BIG (when you are driving in London with all its stingey parking spaces). Mind you, the Previa is still pretty massive.

Dh and my dad have taken ds to the fair - at 8:30pm! But it is a big treat to see all the lights when it is dark and he had a nap about 6-7pm so he can last it out. Poor thing had a boring day driving for ages to the dealer and then hanging around there for ages too.

MerryMarigold · 25/08/2008 20:46

mel, hope scan goes well and they can see the relevant bits too . you will spill the beans to us, eh? i can't remember if yours are id or not...

mel2005 · 25/08/2008 21:51

AQ my parents have a sedona 53 reg, they bought it new and it has had quite a few things go wrong with it and the warranty isnt that good. we have a friend with a 4*4 kia as well and he has had similar problems with his. rusting pipes underneath causing engine problems or something and loads of little bits. the newer version is better but they do lose money quickly, good if you are buying secondhand but not so good when you want to sell. we have had a look at the leather newer version but i am put off by my parents experience. it is a big car though and they have had a piano and a double bed in it.

i am going to try to attach a picture of my bump tomorrow as i am off to bed now. i did take a photo yesterday but its still in the camera.

mine are non ID, i think.

mel2005 · 26/08/2008 13:36

well, i have just got back and they are both fine, we have one girl and one boy. the little girl was sucking her thumb. it was lovley to see them again and a relief that they are both ok. i will add some photos now of the scans

accessorizequeen · 26/08/2008 13:37

How was scan, mel?

We didn't get to test drive the sedona, stupid salesperson had two but both with flat batteries! DP had taken morning off work too. We're buying 2ndhand for sure, we were going to check some buyer reviews before committing to either galaxy or sedona but I did think it looked like it could fit us all in comfort. We had a peugeot 307sw now and all the reviews said not to buy it because of reliability issues but it's been fine - sometimes it's quite hit & miss!

haven't got a recent piccie of bump, i keep meaning to ask dp but there's never ever any time. I feel I ought to be a whirlwind of activity because there's so much to do but am exhausted after five minutes of anything. I do wish I had done more in the early months as it's virtually impossible to bend now.

accessorizequeen · 26/08/2008 13:38

that's great, mel, same as me! Do you feel a bit more relieved now?

MerryMarigold · 26/08/2008 13:51

congrats mel. Now you will have 2 of each. I read somewhere that b/g twins are 33%, b/b 33% and g/g 33%, but there seem to be mostly b/g's on this thread so far! Now for names...(btw accessorize, has ds agreed to your girl's name yet?).

mel2005 · 26/08/2008 14:07

well i thought Rosemary or Rupert when we were having a single one. which would be Rose and Roo for short and i think they go well with Edward and Harriet (the names of my other two monsters).
what do you think?
ROSEMARY, RUPERT, EDWARD AND HARRIET???
other names we have thought about are Daisy, Bethany and Arthur.
Now we know what they are we can have a serious think about it. i like to name them early on to make sure it is the right name.

photos are on now, its hard taking a photo of your own bump so i am sorry its quite a bad picture.

mel2005 · 26/08/2008 14:11

oh and i am over the moon that they are both ok. i have been worrying so much and i had a lovely consultant today who really helped me on the c-section decision.

GettingBiggerBird · 26/08/2008 18:06

Congrats Mel, so pleased you were reassured and I love the names too, all 5 you've given.

Another lazy day for me, we managed to get out for a swim but then stayed in all afternoon. I felt most resentful when my mum went off for a pilates class so snuck straight off for a nap when she got back . Daily updates on the progress of work on the house from DH are very alarming, it all sounds VERY messy. I really hope it's relatively sorte by the time I get back.

Pheonixnights · 26/08/2008 20:42

Congratulations on your scan Mel. You must be so relieved. Its lovely that your having one of each! I have my scan on Friday and I am really nervous. I really hope that the babies are ok. Unfortunatly my youngest son is having a minor operation on Thursday which involves a GA so I need to get through that first.

I can't belive how quick this pregnancy is going. I am over half way already (my hospital will induce at 38 weeks with twins!). I shall start to get a few bits after my scan (I am to supersticious to buy anything before hand!). I am not finding out the sex of the babies. I found out with both my boys and as I don't intend on having anymore pregnancies I would like to experience the "surprise" of finding out after the birth. I hope I can avoid the temptation every 4 weeks though!!

MerryMarigold · 26/08/2008 22:08

nice bump, mel. i was about there at 21 weeks. is that where you are at? or further? if so, you gotta a lot more bump to get used to . that's why i want to see accessorize's pics, wanna know what i've got in store, though she may be smaller than me.

mel, i am hanging in there for a new model mountain buggy under 250.00. if it doesn't work out by 32 weeks then i am just getting a new one, in the knowledge that i should be able to sell it for at least half of what i bought it for.

phoenix - stick in there with not finding out! it's pretty cool, that moment of discovery. i had a surprise with my first, but really wanted to know if i had a little girl this time (i have!!).

poorbuthappy · 26/08/2008 22:18

congrats Mel - good to see the photos as our bumps are very very very similar! Glad to see that there is a chance that my bump is babies rather than chocolate...

Flying home tomorrow, have to get up early on Thursday to have scan - hoping for some more definite opinions on sex!

mel2005 · 26/08/2008 22:18

MM yes i am 20+3w.
if you keep looking on the BIN newly listed you will probably get one. i think the elite that went on last night looks nice but £450!! if you do have to buy new at least you will get almost as much back. they do have a good resale value. i noticed that on the pushchairs.co.uk site they have the new urban which they say comes with rear suspension like the elite. i think its why the others are in the sale.

mel2005 · 26/08/2008 22:22

hi poor, i have been wondering how you are as i havent seen you around much.
good luck on the scan. do you find that sometimes your bump is a really strange shape? they were both laying over the same side today and it looked really weird.

BinkyB · 28/08/2008 14:28

Hello everyone, am new to this thread as just found out I am expecting twins last night! Am 7.5 weeks pregnant so very early days but really excited.

I have so many questions, I'm sorry you've probably discussed them all on previous pages so if I go over old ground bear with me!

Just trying to get my head around what we're going to need (it's our first pg) and my main (bizarre) worry at the moment is how on earth do you breastfeed 2 babies at once? Or do you have to do one at a time? Not sure how I've leapt to worrying about that specific already but you know...

And is a double pram going to mean a remortgage??

And will I ever stop being sick?!

Would love to hear any tips for a newly expectant mum of twins (or more!).

Thanks
BB x

mel2005 · 28/08/2008 15:18

welcome BB
Congratulations, i would recommend reading the double trouble book, its great and a good introduction to twins.
cgi.ebay.co.uk/DOUBLE-TROUBLE-HOW-TO-SURVIVE-TWINS-BOOK-BY-E-MAHONY_W0QQitemZ180281896132QQihZ008QQc ategoryZ378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
i think you breastfeed them one unser each arm. rugby ball style.
you can get a good double buggy off e-bay for a good price if you have the time to keep your eyes open for bargains.
you will stop being sick but it can sometimes last longer than with a single pregnancy.
my consultant said i should take two of the pregnancy multi-vits a day and the blood tests for genetic abnormalities like downs dont work for twins so hopefully they should offer you a nuchal scan at around 13 weeks.
