Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
beller · 28/12/2007 11:53

toomanyshoes - congratulations!!!! yay, really pleased for you , he sounds a dream

Thnks for all the positive comments re induction, i think im more concerned as i cant get an appt with the nice midwife i have been seeing who is very pro homebirth, and will have to see the doc again next week if nothing has happned, oh well will just have to wait and see!! Have some more reflexology booked for tome...so will see!
Good luck Pbirdy too, hope we dont have to wait too long!

Giongme - I have some maternity pad thingys under my sheet, hoping that would do the trick ?
Waves at everyone esle, hope all is ok xxx

LouiseSJ · 28/12/2007 14:11

Congratulations to Toomanyshoes.

LuckyStar - sorry I stole your baby name. I thought it was an unusual name that nobody else would think of! However, it is in my baby book in the popular names in Wales section.

Someone asked how to pronounce Ffion. It is pronounced "fee on". It is a welsh name. My husband is welsh and he says that the double F sound is a "v" sound. Although the name is usually pronounced with the "f" sound. Any welsh people got any views on this?

Someone else asked about any warnings for going into labour. I was walking around Asda in the morning with baby moving about lots. Got home, sat down, waters broke about 2.45pm. I could not believe how much fluid came out. I was so glad this happened in my home and not in Asda. I went to hospital. Contractions started about 11pm and by 1am they were very frequent and very strong. Baby born at 5.26am. I think was lucky to have had a fairly short labour.

PS: Sorry I can't remember who asked those questions. As usual I've not been on here for a few days and have had millions of messages to scan through. I need to come on here more often to keep up.

gingemebells · 28/12/2007 14:18

Congratulations toomanyshoes and welcome to the world Charlie. Sounds fabulous. Well done
My waters have always broke when babys head is being born but its always better to be safe than sorry.Didnt think about those mats actualy. I have some kids ones from when ds3 was potty training. Something similur to what my mw gave me after my home birth. Maybe Ill put a couple of those under my sheets instead.
We are going to bring the bath and changing table up from the shed tommorrow. Ill set the moses basket up Saturday too. Only two weeks left and with the last twos track record this one will hopefuly be a bit early too
Two ladies that havn't posted for a while Barristermum and Mrsmcjnr. Hope they are ok. xxxx

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 28/12/2007 14:45

Hi all.

TMS - Congrats!!
Bettymama - Sorry to steal your thunder but congrats on the birth of Lola (she's put it on facebook)
Louisesj - It's pronounced with the V if your deep in the valleys. If like me your on the border then it's pronounced Feeon

No more movements today although nipples still leaky and still getting sharp pains in my bits

Am extrememly irritable at the moment as am not sleeping. Had about 4 hours last night and probably the same the night before

naetha - Night sweats are galore here as well. It's down the crease of my boobs and the crease of my thighs though mostly.

Am trying to stay awake today to see if I sleep any better tonight so will be around! xxx

mum2sam · 28/12/2007 16:31

Hiya hope everyone ahs had a nice xmas. Congratulations to everyone on their new bundles of joy and fingers crossed that Awen is holding hers. Im 38 wks tommarow and wanting to get things moving now getting really fed up with this tired body. Any sugestions to get things moving????

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 28/12/2007 16:33

Mum2Sam - Pineapple, clary sage oil, sex (or apparently just masterbating does the same, ), nipple tweaking.

Can't think of anymore, there is a list a little further down if I remember rightly.

lilyloo · 28/12/2007 16:46

ooh congrats TMS on Charlie Jack love the name sounds like it went well hope he is being good for you
Also congrats to Bettymama on Lola
LOL Madmouse if only we had any control this is the point we realise it all revolves around the baby
Lucky think you best trying to stay awake through the day and then you should sleep better at night!
Gingeme I have some of the bed mats for kids suppose i should put them on now as due week tom!
Naetha glad the baby seems more managageable size and i think your doing the right thing just go with the flow and not put yourself under pressure to get the baby out before it's ready i know it is so hard but try and do as many nice things as you can now before lo arrives maybe take trip to beauty parlour or something!
Hope everyone else doing ok

Naetha · 28/12/2007 17:45

Congratulations too to Bettymama - do we have a postnatal thread yet?

Braved the January sales today, and was sorely disappointed as usual - I managed Next for about 30 seconds before giving up! I did get a couple of good books and some computer games for DH, and to be honest it was nice to get out of the house and back to "normal" life for an afternoon

LouiseSJ - slightly bizarre co-incidence - I was born at 5:26am as well! Sounds like you had a fairly straightforwards labour - I'm dreading my waters going in the car - it's brand new and an awful lot easier to clean a carpet or mattress protector than a car-seat!

Lucky - definitely with you on the night sweats and creases - I seem to be all creases or bulges at the moment! I must admit I'm looking forwards to losing the extra weight soon! I've put on just over 2 stone since I got pregnant (although I also lost half a stone in the first 3 months, but I'm not counting that!) and hoping to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight plus some (target is 80kgs) by the baby's 1st birthday.

Oh, on the pronounciation of Ffion - double f is pronounced as the f in fine, single f is pronounced as the v in vine. Doesn't matter where in Wales you live

Just had the last left-overs of our roast lamb Christmas dinner in a wonderful curry, and still got enough for lunch tomorrow. Can't believe it's lasted for so many meals!

madmouse · 28/12/2007 18:32

Hi all

Naetha - I held an old pair of size 14 jeans in fornt of me and despaired...and before pregnancy I was a 10/12. Planning to join WW on the breastfeeding program after six weeks!

Where is Sabinar? I have cleared out the wardrobes today!! More nesting and three bags for the charity shop. . Exhausting but satisfying. At nearly 36 weeks i am starting to feel heavy now.

Can't wait to hear from Awen. Starting to think that she may have had a c-section after all. On the other hand, bouncing turtle on the December thread had a looong labour and then did it all in few hours with just gas and air so you never know.

barristermum · 28/12/2007 18:32

Helloooo and merry christmas to all you lovely ladies. Am so so thrilled to read of safe births for fruitful, amani, TMS and Louise. Really grand to see everyone coming thru aright and all post-birth joyous! Bravo to you all and hoping Awen is grand, Naetha and beller get to go into action asap and we are all ok.

Sorry as ever to have been poor on the posting front lately. The last few days of work before Christmas were so manic and then we went straight to my mum and dad's at the weekend so didn't have chance to post. Was absolutley shattered and am finding moving about and doing stuff so much more exhausting - feel really really enormous! We have come back to london and are looking after m parents dog at the mo and I took him for a walk around the park at lunchtime - was comical how slow I went and how many times I stopped on a bench.

Christmas was lovely - very relaxed and gentle, will be glad to do my last day in court on Wed and then will hibernate. Did laundry of little baby things today and started putting things straight in nursery - not much energy for nesting but enough! Take it step by step I say.

Did anyone come back to fluffy on the maternity mats? I have heard of them but not seen any in boots and they soun just the job.

Angechica - keep your chin up love - so sorry he is so low. Very hard for you both I am sure and Xmas doesn't help as it focuses so much on "perfect" families etc. Fingers crossed for immediate bonding and a relief for you!

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 28/12/2007 19:00

Congratulations Toomanyshoes! Sounds lovely .

(Waves to everyone else - I'm still pegged out )

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 28/12/2007 19:00

And Bettymama

madmouse · 28/12/2007 19:55

Susie, hope you feel better soon gal

barristermum, welcome back!! . I did post the link to the Boots mats as Fluffy requested, probably on the previous page by now. We are such chatterboxes. Something tells me we will need a new thread before we have all popped .

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 28/12/2007 20:57

a new thread sounds good!!

Still here but fell asleep, not going to get any sleep tonight now!

is anyone else getting daily phonecalls asking if baby is here yet? Have had 2 people calling each day for nearly a week and it's starting to grate now!

I want baby to come and meet me now, i'm going looking for things that start labour! lol

ayrshirelolo · 28/12/2007 21:15

Evening laydeees!!!!
Big congratulations to toomanyshoes and to Bettymama, delighted for you both!
Also really pleased to hear you are home, Fruitful and that wee Theo is doing so well! How's you? Hope you're not doing too much too soon!
Angechica, just want to echo what everyone else is saying, i imagine Christmas just exaggerates everything and hope you have other people to support you and listen to you, but even if they're few and far between i hope you keep posting and let us support you. All i can suggest is that you concentrate on doing the small things that make you feel a wee bit better every day, going for a walk, having a very long shower, reading a book, watching crap telly, whatever works. One thing i do know is that you can't be entirely responsible for someone else's mental health, that's for him to sort, all you can do is look after yourself and lo and try to encourage him to get the help he needs. Sending you both a big hug anyway...(((((((HUG)))))
Isn't it getting exciting on here now? Imagine Awen is otherwise occupied, good to hear from you Barristermum, hope Mrsmcj is ok... it's been a while since she's posted.
Anyway, i've got another m/wife appointment on Monday morning to see if baby has turned to cephalic, so send me some positive vibes, please folks!!
Got yet more family coming tomorrow for yet another meal, and friends "dropping in" on Sunday before my mum staying MOnday night, and my sister and her kids arriving Tuesday for lunch.... i'm shattered just typing it all never mind doing the cooking!!! Think a trip to M&S is in order...
Anyway, love to you all.... lolo xx

Awenamanger · 28/12/2007 21:54

Samuel Owen arrived by VBAC at 19:40 27th Dec weighing in at 8lb14oz. A bit traumatic but all worth it. Will post more details later. Pic of him on profile

Ledodgy · 28/12/2007 21:56

I've been worried about you! Huge congratulations and welcome to the world little Samuel.

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 28/12/2007 22:53

Hooray for Awen! So glad your long wait is finally over and that you got your VBAC. You do produce gorgeous looking children Awen!

Naetha · 29/12/2007 00:17

Wow - so pleased for you Awen!! He took his time but well worth the wait!

I'm in my regular friday night "am I in labour or not" thing - driving me up the wall! Had a very teary and emotional day (although not actually bawled at anything, but nearly cried at the fact that I couldn't think of anything other than super noodles to have for dinner), feeling sick as a dog at the moment, had a good "clear out" at the other end and got regular BH with moderate backache. Just like I got last Friday and the Friday before that - driving me mad lol! Apologies if this sounds like a daft question, but if my waters don't break, how will I know if I'm in labour or not if I'm having regular BH all the time? Will they just hurt more? Will I just "know"?

Luckysalem - I know exactly how you feel with people constantly calling - it does nothing for your stress levels, and just makes you feel a failure every time you tell them you haven't had the baby yet - we're not even due yet ffs!! I even started an AIBU thread about it on Christmas Day I was so narked off about it!

Right I'm off to bed with a couple of paracetamol - speak to you all again soon, and congratulations again Awen - sooooo chuffed for you

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 04:07

pussycatmomma · 29/12/2007 04:20

DUH!!!!! Sorry, brain is now officially trifle.

AngeChica · 29/12/2007 09:17

Hey congratulations Awen, at last!

It is my 1st wedding anniversary today so am waiting for DH to come back from dog walk for my present... it had better be something good - he did once get me a new car exhaust for my birthday (!) - things are calmer with us ATM if slightly uneasy. It helps so much just to vent spleen on here occasionally and you are all so supportive ...

I totally echo the tiredness thing. I can't get very far and also weirdly keep dropping off to sleep just like back in the 1st trimester.

I went to the Metrocentre yesterday to get my mum a birthday present and could not face entering the bowels of the beast. I had to drive round and round a multi storey car park for about 25 mins before getting a space. Erk.

gingemebells · 29/12/2007 11:56

Oh Awen Many many congratulations to you all. He is beautiful
Welcome back Barristermum. Glad you are ok. Hows your Dad doing now?
Lol at posting twice pussycatmomma. I was awake at 4am too thinking 'this is it' again . I was getting contractions every 8 mins and kept needing a pooh and felt very sick then ravenous all at the same time. Got back to bed about 4.30 , just as dh was going to work. Had a little cry but luckily fell back to sleep. Been getting some strong period type pains under my bump though.Weve decided to go to the park later and see if I can help things along a bit.
It worked with ds4.
Well hope every one else is ok.
