Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BeckyAu · 27/12/2007 09:48

Good morning everybody! I hope you've all had a lovely few days without too much running around? My DH has been fantastic with cooking, housework and being a host (we've had assorted friends and family dropping in for days) and I've really enjoyed sitting back which isn't really in my nature - I'm normally the one running round after everyone doing 25 things at once! Mind you I am not particularly mobile with the bump getting in the way and have terrible pins and needles in both hands all the time now which means I can't grip properly so can't be trusted near crockery anyway!

I can't wait to heat about all the new arivals - there should be lots of gorgeous new babies listed here very very soon! Sending "come out come out!!" vibes to those who want their LOs sooner rather than later and "Shhhhh! No rush!" to those who don't xxxx

jinglebeller · 27/12/2007 11:26

Morning all!!

MAny congratulations to amani and louise sj!!!
Hope breast feeding is getting easier Amani, and you are enjoying your cuddles!!

Sabinar - did you manage to fix your leak??

Awen - Thinking of you...how are you doing??

Well i am due tomorrow!! Had docs appt today, all ok....she said i am "all baby" which scared me a bit..as i think bump is quite big now so maybe babybel is bigger than i thought!! Im sure my doctor wants me to go to hospital instead of homebirth, as she has told me to call the hospital monday if nothing has happened to book an appt....so have text the midwife to maybe see if i can have a sweep next week first instead of booking an induction date straight away?!
Doc did say she felt i would go into labour in next 4-5 days, but its very unpredictable, so cant really say...so not sure what that means really!
Just trying to keep busy, hope everyone is well and look forward to more announcements!!!!
Big hugs and hope everyone had a good christmas xxxxxx

fruitful · 27/12/2007 12:13

Hello all!

We're home!

They ran out of SCBU spaces in the hospital we were in and transferred Theo to a different hospital on the 19th, and sent me home. On the 23rd Theo unexpectedly got keen at bf'ing and so he came home on Christmas Eve.

He still has a feeding tube in, and Christmas was completely manic, but soooo lovely to all be at home together.

We're taking him to the hospital today for a weigh / checkup so I'm praying he's put some weight on.

I haven't had time to read this thread - who has had their babies? Who is in labour? Did anyone manage a Christmas day baby?

beller · 27/12/2007 12:17

Hi Fruitful, Glad Theo is home with you now!! Good luck for the check up xx

Awen we think is in labour, or maybe had hers by now, and Amani and louisesj have had theirs too, maybe toomanyshoes as well? My brain is muddled! xx

madmouse · 27/12/2007 12:55

Fruitful, so glad you and Theo are home and doing well. It must have been a magical Christmas. How are you feeling?

Awen has not been on all day yesterday and not today so far so I am sure she has had her baby. I just hope she got the VBAC she wanted.

Beller - your doctor does seem a bit keen, if she believes that you are going into labour in the next five days and you are not due until tomorrow you are doing rather well and she should not be talking sweep or induction!!. I hope you do go into labour soon. I think you are ready. Would not worry about baby's size just because she says you are all baby. I am also all baby according to mw and I am measuring good for dates. I bet you are not as big as you think. Besides, your GP would no doubt have shared any size worries with you

All peaceful here, had fun this morning as lo had a good workout trying to boot his father's arm off the bump, and ended up with hiccups again.

Fragolina · 27/12/2007 13:28

Hi everyone!
Fruitful, that's so lovely that you and Theo were both home for Christmas . Amani - how's the breastfeeding going? Congrats to Louisesj!!
Beller, that sounds really sensible about the sweep - hope things kick off for you soon
What's with these midwives saying we are 'all baby' - mine said that today as well What does it even mean?? Beller, I've been measuring exactly average, so don't think it means that lo is large.
Apparently, the head is 4/5 engaged today, which I'm really pleased about, but the midwife has booked me in for another appointment next week, 1 day before my due date, and she's said she has a 'feeling' I won't have had the baby by then . I'm determined to prove her wrong!
Haven't been on for a couple of days, made Christmas eve dinner for DHs family, and have been recovering since. Had really bad swelling inhands and feet (couldn't even make a fist - ow!), but its eased off now.

PS: for anyone who's forgotten about my name change, I was lulubump

AngelenelarbolChica · 27/12/2007 13:58

I hope people had good christmases, mine was a bit crap really, not having any friends or family around meant things were a bit intesnse for just the 2 of us to cope with ... I'm so sorry to bring everyone down but things are a bit desperate here at the moment:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2100/445685?rnd=1198763341927

It is lovely to hear about everyone having their babies and thinking of my own soon to come keeps me sane and I do still feel excited about it despite everything.

I know people on here have said that things will be different when the baby comes etc. but I honestly do not feel that he has the capacity at the moment.

PS also every time I see that bloody SMA Progress advert I end up in tears - sick of it!

gingemebells · 27/12/2007 14:06

Good afternoon all.
Beller I agree with madmouse. Why is your gp in such a rush? What happened to letting things progress naturaly if everything is going ok?
How lovely to have baby Theo home for Christmas Fruitful. Hope you are both doing well and keep up the good work
Where is Awen. Hopefuly cuddeling her little bundle.
We had a fab few days here. My big boys went back to their Dads this morning. Peace has been restored kinda.
Just tidying up and generaly keeping busy. Dh asleep on the sofa. He went back to work today and started at 4.30 am. Well have a restful afternoon xxxx

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 27/12/2007 16:00

Hello all

Have posted a message for you on your thread, Angel.

that Theo was home for Christmas!

Hugs to everyone. I hope you get what you want soon Beller! Thanks for message about sore tummy.

Despite the MW saying the baby is engaged and might come before 2008, I've seen no more signs except painful BHs. The baby seems to have decided that every day is an okey-cokey day - this morning from 2.30-5.30. It bloody hurts now she's so big! (Remember she seems to be heading for 10 pounds). I feel like I have a foot-wide belt of bruises all round me and have officially declared myself 'Ready to have the baby/ fed up of being pregnant'.

OK. Ok. I know I'm not alone in feeling uncomfortable, ladies! Has anyone resorted to paracetamol? I'm afraid I have

I'm alright really. . Poor little thing - she's not even due for two weeks!

PBirdy · 27/12/2007 17:42

Hi All

Long time again with no post. We had a lovely Xmas - despite my whole family jumping up every time I moved or put my hand on my belly.

Just wanted to say g'day to Beller - we are both due tomorrow! Very exciting. I saw the doctor today and he checked my cervix which he said was high and tight so unlikely there will be a baby on the due date (as I expected).

Congrats to all of those who have their little bundles already. We can't wait for ours to arrive.

PBirdy x

madmouse · 27/12/2007 17:56

Angel, just put a loooong post on your other thread together with an invitation to email me if you want. Have some experience, although not in a pregnancy setting. It is harder than you think to bring others down as you can see so keep posting so that we can support you!

Oh, can I imagine that SMA advert has you in tears, it has me in tears for the reason they want it to, but for you it has rather a different feel!

Susie, can imagine you feel fed up being pregnant. Here are some labour vibes. Nothing wrong with some paracetamol!I am just off it, now I have discovered that all my sitting straight/propped up/leaning forward for baby's position actually takes away my sciatica-type pain at night!

So your baby has not slowed down yet then? Mine is active all the time, except when I am walking, then he seems to bundle up and sleep. Aren't they supposed to slow down?

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 27/12/2007 18:07

Thanks madmouse! The paracetamol has made me feel better. I've also finally succumbed to a very sedentary life.

The baby has NOT slowed down. In fact she seems more active than ever. On the brighter side, at least it's reassuring.

I think they are supposed to slow down. I think we're going to have a baby who is wakeful at night, as that's when she does most of her dancing!

LuckyStarOfBethSalem · 27/12/2007 19:13

Congrats Amani and LouisesJ - LouisesJ you stoled my baby name! lol... although DP won't let me have a welsh name so i'll let you off. amani any names yet?

Fruitful - Glad to hear your home and everything with Theo is ok.

Would love to see some pictures of all the babies soon.

Sabinar - Sorry to hear about the pool. We blew ours up last night and it's sooo deep and comfortable (Eco birth pool in a box) I could spend all day in it. Glad to hear you've managed to get a new liner though.

Awen & TMS - Had babies yet? I need details quick.

Well we had a lovely xmas and boxing day. Getting abit annoyed with DP's family though as they've not spoken to us in over 3 months... it's always us that has to go up to them and I think that's what their expecting this xmas aswel. whereas I don't feel safe leaving the house at the moment. (Don't think baby is that far off)

Can't sleep at the moment - hips keep going numb on me.

Have had to take to constantly wearing breast pads and changing them at least twice daily hope this doesn't mean there won't be any good stuff left for baby when it appears. I'm due a week today
Been getting some really horrid pains which I don't know are labour pains (not had BH much or anything painful yet) get sharp pains right over my clitorus (TMI sorry) and period pains. Only the sharp pains take my breath away so it's probably nothing.

Has anyone heard off MrsMc lately? Seem to be missing her usual round-ups!

Hope your all ok! xxx

lilyloo · 27/12/2007 19:17

pussycatmomma · 27/12/2007 19:28

hello all!!!
Just wanted to show my face, say Hi, and Congratulations to those who have their babies with them right now!!!
Im really so out of touch with this thread, but I do keep popping in now and again to lurk and see how everyone is doing.
I still have 4 weeks to go, but am getting lots of period type pains and lots of back-ache. Hopefully this is all normal for the stage I am at!
Hospital bag is now nearly packed, although I must confess to unpacking and checking at least once every couple of days! Just have the babys bag to sort out now.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Love to all - ladies with bumps and babies too!
xxxxxxxxx

gingemebells · 27/12/2007 21:31

Evening all. It sounds like we are all heading in the right direction as far as aches and pains are concerned. Im getting loads of Braxton Hicks this afternoon . Had a bit of extra thick discharge yesterday too.
Just out of curiosity is anyone making precautions as far as their mattress is concerned if their water goes in bed? I taped two black bags and put them under my sheet last night. Trouble is it does make me a bit hot in bed but its got to be better than having a soggy bed.
Well speaking of which Im off for a bath.
Have a good night all xxxx

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 27/12/2007 21:36

Thanks for reminding me Gingeme! That was my project for today and I'd forgotten - I'm going to put a couple of towels under my sheet. Won't be perfect but better than nothing.

madmouse · 27/12/2007 23:08

Gingeme, I bought a pack of maternity mats from Boots and will put one under my sheet in a few weeks. They did not cost a lot and I recond that they would be useful. Black bags don't breath and must be uncomfortable, plus I would think that water would run off them and ruin a different part of your mattress. Towels as Susie plans do seem a better idea.

Pussycatmomma, I have just over four weeks to go but am getting lots of painful B-H and pain lower down as well. Oh, and threatened my lo that I would put tranquilisers up my fanjo if he did not stop bashing me like that. Did not help much...

Lilyloo, teach me your trick on deciding when to have the baby1

Night all!

WeAllWantSomeFluffyPudding · 27/12/2007 23:38

Madmouse can you post a link to the maternity mats please? DH and I were just catching up on the thread whilst sitting in bed and both went..."hmmm , time to think about protecting the mattress!".

I was thinking about stealing ds's mattress protector, but also worry about 'run off'...my waters didn't break until I was in hospital being induced last time but I do recall it being quite a messy experience (sorry if TMI ), so keen to avoid any major repercussions if it does happen at home this time!!! Anyway, just did a google search for 'boots maternity mats' and nothing came up.....

Angechica, just read your thread and can't help but sending you really big virtual (((((hugs)))), so sorry you're having such a tough time, but I think you need to find someone who isn't your dp to talk to - you can't carry all this on your own.

Beller - I think its quite normal for doctors to want to discuss/agree a 'Plan B' at the 39.5 week mark. It doesn't mean they want to induce you if you're 24 hours late , more a chance to discuss your options and agree when you would be induced (eg at 12 days etc) and what the various implications of being 'late' are...so don't worry about it Of course, if they do try to bully you, we'll all back you up !!!

Hugs to all, fruitful especially!!!

Right, time to pretend to go to sleep......xxxx

madmouse · 27/12/2007 23:45

Fluffy, here, surely the most riveting link ever

toomanyshoes · 27/12/2007 23:54

Hello! Happy christmas and sorry i have taken so long to update you!

charlie jack was born on saturday weighing 8lbs 10oz. He is totally delicious with lots of silky black hair - I am totally in love already!
Was admitted for induction on Thursday night but as his head wasn't engaged and delivery suite was v busy they decided not to induce on the ward and to get things started on delivery suite the following day in case there were any problems. When they monitored me they found i was already contracting every 3 to 4 mins so was hoping things would start on their own but no action!
Finally given prostin gel on Friday lunchtime and starting getting niggly back pain and contractions every 2 mins. went on all afternoon but didn't dilate any further and was knackered by about 10pm so had diamorphine and DH slept on fold out bed in the room with me. Contractions stopped totally in the night and the following morning the doc gave me another sweep and broke my waters. After that things were incredibly fast and Charlie was born about 4 hours later so wish they'd skipped the bloody prostin and broken the waters first! Managed with gas and air and asked midwife to give me a bit of time once fully dilated for head to come down (was knackered and knew i'd run out of steam quick if pushed for too long) Was very hard not to push as pressure huge but worth it as when i couldn't hold it any more he came out in a couple of pushes. Had a small tear but no stitches needed.
Stayed in for 2 nights as managed to get a private room and wanted some time to get to know my little boy and get feeding established in peace and quiet. Came out on Xmas eve and went to my mums for xmas so only got home today. Boobs are a bit sore but he is feeding well and am just so happy to have him here safely. DD thinks he is fab and keeps kissing him and stroking his hair. Am very, very happy and feeling very lucky indeed
Haven't had a chance to have a proper catch up but have skimmed through and so pleased for Amani and LouiseSJ - fab news - Congratulations!
Fruitful, brilliant news that you are all at home together. So pleased for you.
Awen, hope you will be back on with news very soon, thinking of you.
Hope all those keen to get things moving are contracting as i type and the rest of you are having a lovely rest!
Will have to start a post natal thread soon i suppose!

toomanyshoes · 28/12/2007 00:11

just had a thought, I packed a squeezy sports drinks bottle (99p from sainsburys i think!) in my labour bag and it was the most useful thing I had! Filled it up with warm water and aimed it every time I had to wee after delivery. made a massive difference as meant it didn't sting. Just thought I'd mention it for anybody with a space in their labour bag! I also took a bag of dried apricots to make going to the loo easier and they definitely helped. Oh, and the Arnica has been brilliant so recommend that too!

Naetha · 28/12/2007 00:15

Evening all, glad people have had good Christmasses

Angechica, hang in there - I'm afraid I don't have any advice to give, but lots of good advice on your other thread, so I'll send you some {{{hungs}}} instead

Had another growth scan today as at my last MW appointment on Christmas Eve they reckoned LO was weighing around 10.5lbs! Thankfully, the scan brought him down to a more realistic 8lbs 8oz, and more importantly reassured us that he is doing fine - placenta is working a treat and he's still head down. (I was a little worried that he may have squirmed himself around as he got himself wedged in a funny angle the other night, and his movements have seemed different since.)

We've decided to just let nature take it's course and let him come when he wants. I think I'll carry on with the positive stuff like clary sage baths and walks, but not go so overboard on eating foods which made my mouth swell and ulcerate (pineapple!), and in all honesty I think I'm gonna give up on sex - it's so uncomfortable, and it's got to the stage where I don't get anything out of it so to speak! I'd rather keep DH happy with least incomvenience to me - sorry if TMI! After all that he'll probably put in a show tonight...(hopes reverse psychology works!)

Going to hit the sales tomorrow for a brief bit of fun - might see if I can pick up any good deals and hopefully it won't be too strenuous!

Has anyone else been getting horrendous night sweats btw? I've woken up the last few nights freezing cold with absolutely sodden sheets because I'd been sweating so much. Apologies if TMI, but I thought my waters had broken I had so much sweat dripping down my legs when I went to the loo . Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Right off to bed - might as well make the most of being able to have a lie-in by going to bed late!

Naetha · 28/12/2007 00:20

Wow - Toomanyshoes - congratulations!!! Sounds like you had a (relatively!) great time of it once things got going! So glad everything is going well, and I'm very very jealous!!

madmouse · 28/12/2007 11:49

TMS - congrats!! - was wondering where and how you were, well done on the birth of Charlie Jack , good to have you back.

Naetha - so pleased the scan worked out well. at mw scaring you silly in the first place though. Glad your lo is foing so well. Just make sure he does not get too comfy!!
