Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
madChristmasmouse · 20/12/2007 17:23

Hi all

Awen, fingers crossed, don't hold back from contacting hospital, sure they are used to ladies rocking up and being turned away again?

TMS - can't wait to hear how it went. Here's hoping you are in labour or have already popped. So exciting, this thread will really get going soon. I even think my bump has dropped a little.

Lolo, I agree with you contacting your usual lady, after all if it is breech you want to know! When is your due date? Have you thought about an ECV?

Fluffy, that is so thoughtful of your DH!

Ginge, about the bad night.

Fragolina, go do something to pamper yourself, have some nice food, bath..

Lucky yay for waterbirth. But can't believe what stupid mw said about two people being unable to celebrate. They are either on duty or not and that does not depend on you!

All well here, babe lively as ever. Last night we went to the annual Christmas supper at the Bishop's for ministry students like DH. Lots of people there, and of course there is always one (woman)'How much longer have you got to go? Six weeks, are you sure, it looks more like six hours, haha, are you going to have it here'. I actually have a very pretty bump! Oh well, the bishop blessed the bump when we left that was very sweet .

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 20/12/2007 17:44

TooManyShoes - Good luck again! Can't wait to hear all.

Awen - fingers crossed for you. I second the others. If you want to go to the hospital, go. It won't take them five minutes to check you out.

Lucky - Glad you got what you wanted! Hope all is well with DH. Sounds like there's been great progress.

Ginge - hope you get someting nice tonight, like bath or chocolate cake to compensate for horrid cold.

KT - we haven't thought that far ahead. My guess is I'll go back on the pill. I prefer the spontaneity! Can't this time because of breastfeeding (I'll never remember to take the minipill properly). DH doesn't mind me doing that.

Oh Lord! I'm so hormonal. I love Christmas carols but every time the 'infant babe' is mentioned I tear up. I'm going to be a wreck in midnight mass on Monday! Can't believe I've still got 20 days to go.....

Amani · 20/12/2007 20:26

Awen - fingers crossed, let us know how you do.

Awenamanger · 20/12/2007 21:12

Still going here. They are getting more painful/reg but trying to get hopes up. Either want them to get really intense/painful so i feel like i have to go in or I want them to stop and only start again for the 'real' thing.

KT - re contraception - will go back to condoms here but not for long as hope to have another within 2 years.. needed clomid for this one so guess will be the same for number 3.

Madmouse - I really dont understand why women say such stupid things to eachother. I bet you look beautiful.

Thanks to all kind thoughts/encouragement.

Pains are now about every 5 min.. but only just upped pace consistently so we shall see.

gingemebells · 20/12/2007 21:31

Awen to your lo . Has your other ds broken up from school now?
Thanks Susie. I have actualy had a lovely hot soak and dh made me some yummy Horlicks and a Snickers bar so Im a happy bunny now will probably go to bed soon and try to catch up on some sleep.
Bought my Arnica tablets and rescue remedy and Raspberry leaf tablets from Holland and Barrett in the end. Were quite expensive realy. Does anyone know when your supposed to take the rescue remedy? The one I got you spray directly on to your tongue.
Well looking forward to hearing if there are any more babys arrived tonight.
Sleep well all xxx

Awenamanger · 20/12/2007 21:40

thanks gingeme - getting really painful

gingemebells · 20/12/2007 21:51

OOOH fingers crossed Awen, not legs though
My lot break up tommorrow. ds3 had his Christmas party at nursery today. Think he must have realy enjoyed it as he slept on the sofa for an hour when he got hone . My big boys are here on Sunday.Cant wait to see them.
Im still coughing loads which is sooooo annoying and it hurts.
Good luck girl. Realy hope it all goes well for you xxxxx

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 20/12/2007 22:17

Hope this s it for you Awen. You must be totally fed up of contractions by now!

Glad about bath and chocolate, Gingeme.

madChristmasmouse · 20/12/2007 22:51

Awen, I hope that this is it. Am praying for you. Can't wait for your birth announcement, I can imagine you are ready for your baby now .

No news from TMS, hope she is doing ok.

Gingeme, I hope you manage to sleep.

Led worship in church tonight, just some carols. Discovered that singing properly, with proper breathing, gives me braxton-hix. Nice on a stage .

Night everyone

Awenamanger · 21/12/2007 08:49

Got some sleep between 1.30ish and 4am. Woke with very bad lower back pain which went round to front. Also felt pressure in my bottom. Been having pains about every 4 min more painful than yesterday. Trying to avoid calling hospital incase it is a false alarm or that everything stops when there due to an environment I am really not happy in.

sabinar · 21/12/2007 09:17

ooh Awen - it does sound as though this might be it, doesn't it! I hope so - will be thinking of you today!

Today is the last day I have to leave the house for work - still have a bit of stuff to tidy up before I'm completely finished but will looking forward to not having to trek around all over the place every day - it's been a busy week!

Our house is looking more and more as though it has been taken over by a tiny stranger... expecting the pool and TENS machine to turn up sometime in the next couple of days, so that will really be the icing on the cake! Hopefully haven't forgotten anything too important as I think we're just about done with shopping for the moment. (Oh, except that I have only one bra for breastfeeding and no 'official' breastfeeding tops, but that can probably wait for a little bit.

I feel as though my joints are all starting to come apart these days! Mucho relaxant I think! V weird.

Had a MW appt the other day though and she said that LO has still not come down into the pelvis though - lots of walking and hanging over the birth ball for me in the weeks ahead apparently.

Hope you're all well and look forward to hearing more news of little bundles soon!

Amani · 21/12/2007 09:35

Morning all,

Awen - Have you contacted the hospital yet or are you still at home?

Sabinar - savour your last day at work

ayrshirelolo · 21/12/2007 09:38

Morning girls!
OOOOOO... Awen fingers crossed for a wee Christmas pressie for you!!! let us know how you're doing!!!
Lucky, that's great news about the waterbirth, glad you're goingto get what you
want!
Madmouse, yes, i think i've thought about everything related to possible breech positioning, only thing i'm sure about is that i don't want to risk ordinary vag delivery, even if they'd let me! I'm due the day after you, so there is still time for situation to resolve itself, but i suppose i'll just have to wait and see and be guided by medical opinion !!
Congratulations to everyone who finishes work today, it's a lovely feeling!!!
As far as contraception goes this is absolutely the last baby! (dh will have 3, i'll have 2... i'm almost 37!! He's nearly 45 so this is it!!!!) He's going to go for a snip as soon as this one is born, but while we're waiting for it to work / waiting lists etc i'll probably go back on the pill as we are completely rubbish with condoms and really don't want any more after this one!! Hoping they can give me a prescription either in hospital or at my 6 week check (although last time we had "recommenced" before 6 weeks .. sorry if tmi! )
Anyway, full house for the weekend, dsd here till Monday then the in laws move into the spare room! And expecting a visit or two from my mum over the next couple of days.... how did i ever have time to go to work???? Thanks for all the good wishes about dd, gingeme hope your ds is better soon (and so are you!) and you're right, Medised the last 2 nights has worked a lot better than Calpol!!
Love to all, lolo xx

LETSGOChristmaspartying · 21/12/2007 09:46

Morning all.

I've not been on here for a week and just taken a good few hours to catch up. phew! lots happening.

I'm on maternity leave now and have been having a wonderful time doing coffee and chats with friends . Making the most of it really.

Have been suffering with the period like pains since last night but assume that's just a stretching type thing and just trying to go with it.

Good Luck to Too Many Shoes.

Awen it sounds like there is something happening there doesn't it?

I'm off to pick up a TENS machine from my friend in a while and then off to a friend's for a cup of tea.

Take care all and have a great day

jinglebeller · 21/12/2007 10:17

Morning all!!

Good luck Awen!! Hope this is it xx

Toomanyshoes - Hope you have some news soon?? xx

I now have a stinking cold...so feeling very soory for myself!
Hope everyone is well..and best wished for anyone thaqt might have movement over the next 5 days!!!!
Happy christmas xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Awenamanger · 21/12/2007 11:22

Spoke to labour ward and stressed I really didnt want to come in yet. They said when i get them every 3 min lasting for a min to go in although i might be cutting it fine and need ambulance...

Still carrying on, dp stayed off work so am taking ds to park again hoping that some exercise will help. Getting easily irritated and annoyed not at all myself.

Naetha · 21/12/2007 11:56

Wow sounds like things are really moving for you Awen! Hope this is the real thing!

DH finishes work today which I'm really grateful for as we've got loads of stuff around the house which needs to go to the tip (old carpets etc) and he can do all the jobs I can't physically do any more! It will be really nice to have him around for over a week over Christmas, and hopefully a bit longer assuming LO turns up on time

Had some really strong BH/contractions last night that did the same as usual, carried on until about 10am this morning and they've just petered out again - getting very frustrating! Going to walk to the vet's this afternoon to pick up some flea medicine for the cats - it's about a 3 mile round trip but should be fine as long as I take it easy It's along a bus-route as well, so I can always take the easy option if needs be!

I just get the real feeling that there's a fight going on in my body - something wants the baby to come out, but something also wants the baby to stay in! I'm just trying to work out which bit is which! Mentally I'd really appreciate the baby coming out now - I'm extremely uncomfortable, getting about 3 hours sleep a night, and very fed-up!

Right, off for my walk now - see you all later and happy vibes for Awen!

madChristmasmouse · 21/12/2007 13:49

Hi all

Awen, sounds indeed like this may be it. Don't end up in denial until you run out of time to get to hospital!

Naetha, hope you have some sunshine on your walk, it is glorious here.

No news from TooManyShoes?

Sabinar - finally!

Beller about cold, hope you have a nice time anyway.

Just back from midwife, a different one again, but at least I get to see them all before I go into labour. Previous mw and dr wrote a question mark after cephalic, but she decided he is definitely head down. I knew that anyway, but hey its a good thing at 34+3. Next antenatal will be a home visit to drop kit off for home birth. He is measuring perfectly, 36cm at 34 1/2 weeks, so all in all well pleased. Home birth here I come.

Amani · 21/12/2007 14:35

Help needed!! Really painful underneath my bump at the moment, which is occuring every ten minutes. Is this B-H-C as it is under the bump or could it be the real thing?

IsawSusiekissingSantaClaus · 21/12/2007 14:46

Hi Amani - How long has this been going on for? I had same thing the other night. It happened every 15 mins for about two hours. It was painful but then it stopped and nothing really since - except the odd tiwnge.

Naetha · 21/12/2007 15:24

I've been getting that as well Amani - I think (for me anyway) it's BH aggravating minor SPD. Every time I get a BH now (especially after my walk - bad idea!) I get a stabbing pain in my groin (just above my pubic bone) and it feels like the baby is about to drop out of my fanjo!

If in doubt, ring your MW

AngelenelarbolChica · 21/12/2007 20:03

Hi all, Beller I've got a stinker of a cold as well(after hibernating for 3 weeks knew I shouldn't have bothered with the works do and mingled with all those germs). The worst thing is it's one of those where your eyes and nose just stream so much and you sneeze a lot so I have weed myself slightly about 3 times today while sneezing. Clearly pelvic floor is already compromised
I have had some Lemsips which feels a bit sinful ... DH checked at the pharmacy and they said this is OK as long as I don't have high blood pressure, but I feel i can't deal with this with just hot lemon etc.
He's off on his Christmas do with the other PE teachers, lots of fit young men out on the town, but apparently they see him as an "oldie" now haha! At least he came home and saw to the dog and made me tea, and is now off for 2 weeks.

Good luck Awen & TMS this weekend! Naetha can't believe you are going to walk 3 miles - I couldn't get 1/2 mile without needing the loo ATM.

madChristmasmouse · 21/12/2007 20:12

Amani how are you doing girl?

merrykt · 21/12/2007 21:10

Evening all, feels like thigns are really getting started on this thread now

ange - sympathies re cold, if it's like mine esp! tho at you finding out about lemsip, will have some tomorrow now! mine has moved from the snot fest stage to a cough which is worrying me as i think it will hurt to keep coughing. (gingeme didn't you have a cough? take anything that worked?)
make the most of having dh around for a bit and get lots of rest

amani - any developments? i'm kind of assuming so as you haven't been back on.
i remember expecting contractions to take over the whole of my bump and they were just at the bottom of it. had visions of bump visibly 'contracting' like something out of aliens

madmouse - good news on the head down. confused re measurements tho, you measured 36 weeks at 34 - my notes say i measured 34 at 35 yesterday (mw didn't say anything so she can't have been worried and i have been off food recently due to cold) - are we not meant to measure the same number as weeks??
or is it all a load of cobblers anyway!?!

naetha - how went the long walk?? do you think that mentally you could be holding back as you know house isn't ready and dh would be around for a bit?
i remember being twitchy for a few days then bullying dh to sort out pool & kitchen for home birth on the sunday, mon 5am waters broke. firm believer in the powers of the subconscious

hey awen - guess things have (finally) kicked off for you. glad dp is around and not stuck in an aeroplane

had a really 'damp' start to the morning today, even put on a pad but it stopped then. was momentarily worried that it was the start of a show. not yet i said to baby, got to get to 37 weeks/new years day!

dh finished work today too, guess lots of people did. will be great to have him helping with ds for a while.
right best let someone else say something!

AngelenelarbolChica · 21/12/2007 21:23

Kt bear in mind that Lemsip is not recommended during pregnancy so i wouldn't say you should take them without reservations.

Its just I had so many ear and sinus infections as a kid that when I get colds now my sinuses get really inflamed and I just can't cope without decongestants. I read on Babycentre.co.uk that they raise your blood pressure slightly which is why they are not recommended.

I just made the judgement that I am 37 weeks now and BP is OK so it should be fine...

I was thinking, it must be horrible for people to actually go into labour with a rotten cold!
