Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Amani · 03/12/2007 17:52

Afternoon all
Has an action packed day today, took DD to parent and toddler group and then running household errands. Silly broadband was down most this afternoon (anyone else with Virgn, who has noticed the service has become a bit pants lately?)

Gosh, boobs hurt like mad today and if I itch them get about 1 minute of relief then it hurt like mad even more.

All the best to you ladies with a sweep - hope it get things moving.

Happy due date to you ladies-in-waiting.

Talking about nesting instict, every since I've started mat leave, been obessing about keeping the house spotless and any little blob of dust really bothers me - not sure if it because I have too much time on my hands and feel embarassed to admit this - but am finding it a little boring being off work .

bambino1andbigbump · 03/12/2007 17:59

Evening everyone. Had ante natal app today. Bump is measuring 40 weeks! Going to be a bigun my midwife said. He was a little concerned baby had turned breech and scared me while he prodded about for a bit but then confirmed shoulders def in pelvis! Thank goodness. I've asked to have a sweep at my next check. I will be 40+2. Midwife doesn't reckon i'll get to 40 weeks but I'm not getting my hopes up!

mememummy · 03/12/2007 18:28

i've been trying to chill all day and cant im to restless, ive done all the washing, and put up my jumperoo and play on the internet,

amani- ive had problems wiv virgin to they are def a bit pants i wish id stayed wiv sky now!

mellymooks · 03/12/2007 18:30

see how much we need that get together cake and teapot? we're all restless and sounds like we're all doing faaaarrrr too much washing!!!

mememummy · 03/12/2007 18:36

i also have two airers, a dryer and radiator so ther :P

loucee · 03/12/2007 18:41

Oh yes caught up with the washing today as well. I've been bad though and tumbled most of it as was impatient to get it folded and away in the drawers!

Now I'm on the hunt for a small freezer for the garage, need extra storage as fridge/freezer doesn't hold much

Amani - yes I know what you mean about the dust but what I'm finding is everything I had nice and ready (defrosted and clean freezer, clean oven, clean kitchen cupboards etc now need doing again! I've had a stinking cold and just feel lazy but still irritated by the mess! Now the Christmas decs are up I can at least give new homes to some things that help to keep it tidy.

Ohh wonder when we'll have another person in labour - has Skidaddle been on today?

Bouncingturtle · 03/12/2007 18:43

I have a dehumidifier to help me dry my washing!

Dundee - IKWYM regarding aches and pains! My heart goes out to you ladies who are overdue, hope your los put in an appearance soon!

Ambi · 03/12/2007 18:44

Looks like everyone is having a cleaning day, I did pretty well with the home blessing hour (flylady) this morning, house feels sparkly. Also have washing hanging all over the house, usually daily as it ALWAYS rains up north!!!!

Typing on the sofa on my NEW laptop, it arrived today and I?m sooooo happy with it, it?s fab, and DH gets his beloved PC back.

I?m not phoning anyone anymore, they answer with a gasp as if i?m in labour. I have to start by saying, ?Don?t panic, it?s not started...?

Odd question alert; does anyone else have a sore pubic area, ie the pubic mound, mine feels bruised and can feel it everytime I move, reckon its just the pressure of everything pushing downwards..

Amani, we have Virgin, they are not a patch on Blueyonder who they used to be years back.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 03/12/2007 19:04

Lot of nesting going on today and people far too organised for Christmas which will not be starting in this house any time yet...

Went to see Cons this morning and after a 2 hr wait was examined and only 1cm and posterior.

As I have had previous section and hoping for vbac cons said that he could induce but I would be starting from a very poor point. Also said baby on large size.Said liklihood is that I would be in labour all week and then end up with an assisted delivery or section.

Priority now is to get baby out as due to previous history they wont let me o too much overdue.

So hving section on Wed.Have pre op tomorrow and have to be there at 7.30am wed.

Was wondering though.I had to stay in 5 days when i had dd.Is that standard or could i come out sooner?i did recover v well last time

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 19:06

Amani - I'm on Virgin too but my service is brilliant! Maybe it was just your area?

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 19:08

Bugger - no angel costume to found in the fine city of Cambridge...lucky my friend said she might have an old one! Or may have to drive to Asda to search for one!

Shells · 03/12/2007 19:12

Chocpeanut, I know people who have come out from section after 3 days. All depends on whether you're on your feet and how feeding is going I think. If you or DH are good at being persuasive then you can probably talk them into it.
Good luck for it all. I'm sure it will just be a relief for all the pain you've been having to be over.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 03/12/2007 19:24

Thanks
I was on feet last time within 24 hrs so hope same again and I bottle feed so hopefully will be allowed out sooner

Shells · 03/12/2007 19:32

Well there you go. Should be ok. I had VBAC for DS2 and even then I was desparate to get home to DS1 so I know how you feel.

loucee · 03/12/2007 19:40

Choc - good luck for Wednesday, can't believe you now have a date to plan for. My sis had a planned section and was out after 3 days. It might be nonsense but she was told that planned sections often are allowed out earlier as often with emergency sections the baby has been stuck or the woman has progressed into labour/dilating etc.

Flylady - sounds very organised!

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 19:45

CP - good luck for Wednesday, I am sure everything will go well. I will be thinking of you. When I had my elective section I was in for 2 nights/3 days. They wanted me to stay in another night but I insisted on going home as it was so hot and noisy in there and I felt fine. Also breastfeeding was going ok - although not an issue for you.

becklesparkle · 03/12/2007 20:09

Hi all! Looks like loads of you have been busy nesting. Hope my instinct kicks in soon, have lots of plans but can't really be arsed!

Insy, sorry to hear about your friend, its really hard to know what to do when someone m/c's and you are pg. Let her know you are there for her, when I have m/c'd in the past I was avoided by all my pg friends and it felt awful. She may not want to know details of your pg but will be happy to know you are thinking of her and there if she needs you.

Ambi my pubic area is a bit sore too, I think it is where LO seems to be trying to put its hand by its face so its all getting a bit battered. My hips are getting a battering from tiny hands too! (although thankfully not on the side where the SPD is bad).

Choc, sorry your LO hasn't made an appearance by itself yet, it must be an incredibly worrying and difficult time for you at the moment. As others have said, some people do make a good and quick recovery from a CS and planned are supposed to be easier than emergency. My friend had an EMC with her daughter and was home after 2 days and cleared for driving by her doctor a week later so it is possible to recover quickly! Given that you recovered well last time I would say there must be a fair chance you will again.

My first day of Mat leave today!!! Spent the morning playing and snuggling with DS2 with no interuptions from work - bliss! Work phone did ring a few times but I ignored it. Boss has not had the divert taken off yet. He's so disorganised, I am a bit peed off with him actually. Despite knowing my leaving date for months and knowing the new girl in the office couldn't work Mondays he had not arranged any cover for today at all! I gave him a friend of mine's number weeks ago who is interested in covering Mondays for him (from home, like I did) and he didn't bother to phone her. He asked me on Friday if I would mind spending the day with her today and helping her out if she got stuck but he hadn't even spoken to her about it! He finally asked her today if she would work for him which means if she agrees then I will have to spend next Monday with her to show her the ropes. Why couldn't he have done all this before my Mat Leave started???

mellymooks · 03/12/2007 20:19

Hey Chocp, sorry to hear things haven't progressed as you would have ideally hoped, but as others have said at least you know when your LO will be arriving - how exciting!!

Beckle - that is well crap of your boss, i'm not surprised you're pissed off!

becklesparkle · 03/12/2007 20:39

He's rubbish Melly, I don't know why I expected anything different from him! How are you this evening?

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 20:45

Good luck for Wednesday Choc xx

mellymooks · 03/12/2007 21:00

I'm good thanks Beckle, the odd twinge and bit of low back pain, trying desperately to be patient!
Spoke to my bro earlier and he informed me that the baby is coming tomorrow!! He's usually quite good at predicting things so we'll see.....

Keep enjoying your mat leave, lots of pampering and chilling if you can!

Caz10 · 03/12/2007 21:07

Good luck for Wednesday chocolatepeanut!

And here's hoping your brother is right mellymooks!

WHERE is my nesting instinct, I want it!! All I have is a slouching/sleeping/mumsnet instinct at the moment!

Caz10 · 03/12/2007 21:10

PS I still get the flylady emails every day...and I delete them unread every day .

Maybe that will be my maternity leave resolution. Do you follow it strictly Ambi?

Ambi · 03/12/2007 21:33

Not really, but my home is def tidier when I pay attention. Worked hard on it since Mat Leave though and try to follow the routines, I forward the reminders direct to the trash but read the testimonials, some are very sweet. Trying to get something routine-based set up before all hell breaks loose and sleep deprivation takes over!!!

Good luck choc for Weds, another imminent graduate to the post natal thread.

mellymooks · 03/12/2007 21:43

What is the flylady?
