Hola

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bouncingturtle · 03/12/2007 08:27

Insy - I too had a m/c at 9 weeks - send ehr support texts, but I was the same as cazzybabs, couldn't bear to be around pg woman for first few weeks afterwards, then became totally consumed with TTC, in the meantime found out a close friend was pg, but I was genuinely happy for her. Give her time.

Going into work today for a few hours... wierd or what!

insywinsyspider · 03/12/2007 08:50

Thanks for the advice - bouncingturtle and cazzy sorry to hear that you've been thro it too, I've sent her a text this morning, we have dc's the same age and go to same toddler groups but guess she'll avoid them for a while as I know she is desperate for another dc - you're right cazzy its a shit time of year for her to be going thro this

buzzybee · 03/12/2007 08:59

So sorry to hear about the m/cs. Also hugs to you chocpeanut.

9 days left at work
Totally sick of people (including my Mum) making all kinds of jibes about how I'm mis-treating myself and LO by continueing to work though. I feel like screaming that loads of women on my MN thread have come down with colds I'm not unique! But of course they would probably think I'm even weirder for relying on this virtual community of expectant mums for support! I also feel I know my own body best and if I seriously thought I was causing either of us harm or it was all becoming just too hard I'd stop in a flash.

Was planning to semi-sort out Xmas cards tonight but hasn't happened. tomorrow evening have MW so probably won't get done then either. At least the cleaner comes tomorrow for her fortnightly visit so the place will look a bit cleaner!

fifisworld · 03/12/2007 09:15

Morning everyone

Wizzska - Hope you are ok and are with your baby

I thought that there would have been a few more babies over the weekend.
Ive had my nesting spurt too on saturday, ive done the house from top to bottom and yesterday i put my tree up so im ready now if DS2 decides he wants to come out early and see what all the fuss is about out here!!

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 10:02

My 1st proper day of maternity leave...got up helped dh get the dds ready for school etc and went back to sleep......woke up half an hour ago! I do have to cycle into town in a bit as there a few bits and bobs I need - a secret santa prezzie and angel constume being a few of them!

fifisworld · 03/12/2007 10:42

Cazzy - Cant belive your still cycling, i struggle to walk never mind anything else!!

dundeemarmalade · 03/12/2007 10:47

morning all. too much going on for my porridge-textured brain to remember details of who to congratulate/sympathise with etc. so general best wishes to all.
am quite relieved to read that lots of people are having a range of pains/aches/niggles. Have been getting increasingly strong period-y pain (which is hard work mainly because the association with cramps and bleeding/periods is so strong that I keep expecting something dramatic to be happening), LOTS of tightenings, slight feeling of upset tummy/tummy ache, seem to only be able to sleep for two hours at a time, pelvis hurts, legs hurt, baby wriggling a lot which causes a wierd stinging sensation on front of bump, WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE WHINGE.

SarahPT · 03/12/2007 10:48

Morning everybody

Blimey! It's taken me all morning to catch up!

Wizzska - my due date buddy - hope everything went OK for you. Can't wait to hear your news!

I'm now officially overdue so am going to nest all day to take my mind off it. Am blaming DH who is always late for everything so has obviously passed on his genes.

Hope everyone else is OK

mememummy · 03/12/2007 11:09

hi y'all, ive just caught up gd luck 2 wizzka and RG!!

went mw on fri bp has shot up and am swollen to the point of stretch marks on my calfs and ankles, but urine clear, so she told me to rest and stay calm.

my house is spotless to , i cant sit still or lie still 4 that matter so i cleaned the house and did all the washing

carseat should arrive today as will the jumparoo i hope im quite excited

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 11:14

Morning everyone

Six days overdue today - eerk!!

Think i'm going to go to the pictures this afternoon to watch Beowulf. DP isn't happy about me going on my own tho so i might see if my 17 year old DS wants to come with me (and threaten to ground him if he says no)

Cant believe you're still cycling Cazzybabs!!! Enjoy the first day of your mat leave. It's great isn't it!

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 11:15

I was wondering about going to the cinema...do you think I would get odd looks going on my own?

mememummy · 03/12/2007 11:17

jumparoo's arrived yes!!!!!!!!!!

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 11:17

Nah, not if you during the day rather than on a friday or saturday night!! Besides, once the lights are off, who's looking to see if anyone's on their own??!!

Get your bucket of popcorn or bag of pick n' mix and your cup of pop and enjoy!!!

I would be going on my own if DP wasn't so jittery!

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 11:23

Good morning everyone, hope you're all feeling ok and those in labour/about to give birth Good Luck!

Mememummy- what is a Jumparoo?????????????

Rg - I am now two days overdue and that is hard enough, hate to think how you must be feeling. It's really NOT much fun is it? If I ever go through this again I will tell people my due date is two weeks later on than it actually is, to stop them asking why I haven't had the baby yet.

Just a quick rant about useless midwives: when I was at the hospital last thursday for my antenatal appointment I was told I could have a sweep early this week (Mon or Tues). They actually offered to do one then and there but said it was better to wait.

So I called my community midwife this morning to organise this. She is having a day off but the useless midwife who answered the phone said they would not do a sweep until I was a week over. Well that will be on a saturday and they are unlikely to come out to do it over the weekend which takes us to Monday. Which is two days before my section date - so even if it worked it would probably be too late.

AAAAAAARGH.

Anyway I will be calling my own (also useless) midwife tomorrow and see what she says.

But at the moment I just feel like not bothering and letting things take their own course.

Anyone has any experience of stretch and sweeps - successful or not??????

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 11:27

clarq - I was about to ask the same thing!

Hope you get the sweep thing sorted. I think your cervex has to be "ripe" for it to work ..so maybe that is why they advised waiting.

My midwife has offered to do one tomorrow - no thanks! I am quite happy being pregnant (well not for ever for ever)...but the more overdue I go the better (bp and baby's health allowing!)

suey2 · 03/12/2007 11:28

cazzybabs- i love going to the cinema on my own- particularly in the middle of the day when everyone else is at work. (I have always had a day off in the week and 4 long days) go- you'll love it!

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 11:30

Cazzy - when are you due? I guess every hospital has different policies (which goes to show how random it all is). You are obviously happy to wait for nature to take its own course. My problem is I want to avoid a section on the 12th and am worried that leaving it until the 10th to have the sweep will be too long (as they usually take about 48 hours to work anyway).

I said I don't mind if they have a look and my cervix isn't ready - at least then I will know.

My next door neighbour had a sweep at 36 weeks and her baby was born at 37 weeks. This was in America - apparently the baby was big and they were happy to do it that early.....

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 11:32

By scan dates I was due on Friday by LMP due today. TBH though I cannot understand the scan dates - the baby was measuring small on everything - it was very strange...anyway I guess it will only become an issue on the 14th Dec.

I would poihnt out your cs date and maybe they will do one early...changes are maybe they haven't connected the 2.

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 11:37

Right unless I am in labour or have sprogged I will go to the cinema on Fri as today I have shopping, tomorow I am not getting out of bed until my mw appoitment (in order to keep bp down), weds and thurs are navity plays...which leaves Fri (and explains why I don't wish to give birth in the next week)!

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 11:38

Cazzy - the new baby could play Baby Jesus in the plays

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 11:39

I had a sweep on Friday and i really thought it was all kicking off as i had a show on Saturday morning and then again later in the evening. But here we are on Monday and nothing has happened!!

When my MW did the sweep my cervix was very posterior, i was only 1cm dilated (which is normal for a second baby) and my cervix was also quite thick at 3cm. On hindsight she probably shouldn't have bothered to do one as my body was obviously not ready at the time. I'm booked in to have another one this Friday (could have had another one today but i said no coz it frickin' HURT!) but i'll only let her do one if my body is ready. No point in going through that again for nothing.

My MW also told me that they dont normally do sweeps until 41 weeks but as i was desperate for a home water birth, she gave me one at 40+3 so that i would have more of a chance of having the birth i wanted.

Clara - can you not go to your GP and get him/her to perform the sweep instead? Surely if you explain the circumstances either the MW or your GP will do it for you? Failing that, have lots of sex and bounce on a birthing ball if you have one. Also long walks are meant to be good (if you dont have SPD!). Good luck!

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 11:41

Oh and Clara - being six days overdue is f*ckin' HARD and i even had a hormotional moment yesterday with DP when i was in tears because i was fed up with being pg and not even being able to put on my knickers without military precision and even having a wee and wiping my fanjo was now a bloody chore!!!

All i can advise now tho is to try and keep busy. Everyone said that to me too but i ignored them and have sat here waiting and waiting and waiting........ This is why i'm off to the pictures to watch a film and eat junk.

cazzybabs · 03/12/2007 11:42

Yes... I am not the sure the little girl who is playing Mary would be so impressed...plastic dolls are much easier to pick up plus they don't mind being dropped, or accidently hit by passing angel wings or wise men's gifts!

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 11:44

RG - thanks. I am hoping my MW will agree to do one (or to have a look and see if it's worth doing one) when I phone her tomorrow.

I think the mw who I spoke to this morning was just spouting hospital policy with no regards to my personal circs. Which pee's me off.

I hope you get some joy this week - and that you get the home birth you want.

Oh and enjoy the cinema. I don't think I could concentrate for the length of a film anymore! And can't keep my legs still that long either....

suey2 · 03/12/2007 11:49

i went last week to see elizabeth golden age. It was great fun, although the baby was going a bit nutso with the surround sound.
