OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mellymooks · 19/11/2007 17:39

Yes I'm having a least one mug a day! It's tasty hope it helps!

macdoodle · 19/11/2007 17:58

Once your waters have broken they like you to go into labour within 24 hrs because of risk of infecion spreading into uterus and baby....I am a little out of date I would guess a while since I did any obstetrics but I think they would induce you first before going straight for a section..but it is def cos of risk of infection which can be nasty...

Hi All,

I haven't been on/posted for ages as been busy at weekends and MEGA busy at work..really long days, so just hadn't had time..and really missed it. Bizarrly when I went to log on to mumsnet about 2 weeks ago my work proxy server thingy came up saying it was a banned site and it gives a reason and normally its things like gambling or downloads etc but the reason said something like personal so I thought oh dear they've obviously banned chat sites now.

Then last week my boss cancelled yet another meeting we had arranged, I followed it up with an email saying that I felt this was a bit of an issue when there was so much we had to discuss before I stop for mat leave on 30th and I was concerned I wasn't going to get things as complete as they needed to be without his input. He then phoned me and proceeded to tell me that if things weren't completed it would be more my fault due to the time I'd spent on the internet doing personal stuff inc "net mummies" as he referred to it. Apparently IT give our managers a list of the sites we look at! I was really upset though as for every minute I might spend looking at personal stuff on the internet I work double in hours I'm not paid for as I always have evening meetings and have never been able to take time off, so regularly work 12 hour days. He didn't have any issue with arranging a meeting for me that finished at 8.30pm the evening before and it was also an hours drive from home for me, and it seems to have escaped his notice that I'm doing all that while 35 weeks pregnant. Needless to say pregnancy hormones got the better of me and the whole office heard what I had to say on the matter, as I blubbed my way through it! I wanted to leave there and then, only the thought of stopping on 30 Nov is keeping me going. The upshot of this though is that I can only look at mumsnet from home now, happen to be working from home this afternoon hence I can log on at this time.

Haven't had a chance yet to catch up on the last 3 weeks postings and seem to have missed loads...has someone had their baby already? . Ditto re sore legs/hips at night, its so hard to get comfy and then sore back when sitting in front of PC.

Everyone seems so organised. I'm 35+4 and haven't done birth plan or hospital bag yet. I'm thinking maybe I should do it this week?

I need to go back for another scan on Thursday as they'd been scanning me every 4 weeks to check growth, and at the last appointment all was well but then at the normal antenatal appointment 2 weeks ago the uterus measurement was 2cm less than what it should be. I understand that's just a rough guide but they won't agree to me using the birthing centre without doing another growth scan so fingers crossed it's all ok as I'd much rather go there than the labour ward of our hospital as the birth centre has a birth pool etc and you normally have a midwife with you all the way through.

Need to go back and read all the posts now!

macdoodle · 19/11/2007 18:00

Builders can't start kitchen conversion for 2 weeks Oh dear don't want to delay as would at least like walls down windows and skylights in before LO arrives but looks like will be me, new baby, breastfeeding and builders in new year

Bouncingturtle · 19/11/2007 18:42

Macdoodle - that sounds like a PITA!
Poppy - Hello, you boss sounds like a right tosser . Just keep thinking to yourself not long to go now!

Ditto with the lack of sleep/aching hips & legs. I find standing too long or walking to long makes the muscles in my abdomen really hurt too.
I intend to start taking my raspberry leaf from next week when I'll be 36 weeks.

insywinsyspider · 19/11/2007 20:40

Claraq ? thanks for name suggestions ? could only seriously suggest Toby Robin to dh
Victoriansqualor ? Toby Nicholas is on the short list I like it
Beckle ? dh just veto?d Joesph ? I liked that as a first name, I think Joe is a really strong name

Mixedmama ? sounds like pains in your legs are cramps, I get the same sometimes, it feels like someone stabbed me in the calves

Is raspberry leaf tea from 36 wks then?

Poppy ? I only just packed hospital bag today, I?m 36 wks (put my stuff, baby stuff and food in separate bags in a big bag so dh can just separate it easily or if stay at home can also find things easily) I leave work on 29th Nov, its not long now, hang on in there! good luck with scans x

had lovely day off work today, got boiler serviced and had no water to house for most of day due to mains leak they seem to have it sorted now but it scuppered my cleaning plans, ds was at childminders too ? be a couple of weeks before I have another opportunity to do it now

macdoodle · 19/11/2007 20:47

ok then middle names for me too please...LO will be Lily - options are Lily Rose, Lily Grace, Lily Joe (DD suggestion ), Lily Cate, Lily Skye.....grr cannot decide at all...
Started sorting baby clothes and packing bad washed some new fluffy big BLACK towels...forgot towels last time had horrid NHS ones which were all blood stained when I was done and they wouldn't give me fresh...yuk....

cazzybabs · 19/11/2007 20:48

Grace Grace and Grace again - lovely name. It is dd2's name and I love it! Everyone comments on how nice it is and it would be perfect for a middle name!

insywinsyspider · 19/11/2007 21:25

have to agree Grace is a lovely name and fits Lily perfectly

macdoodle - at black towels, we've only got white ones (old ones I might add so can chuck after but will still be potentially gross!)

tabimum · 19/11/2007 21:35

I cant believe that I hadnt logged on for about 2 days, and not only was there a new thread - but it was already 6 pages long

macdoodle - for what its worth, I think Lily Rose or Lily Grace are both fabulous names. DD1 has Rose for middle name. Can anyone think of middle name to go with Lila or Lola (current fave choice of first names - but likely to change again as it seems to daily). We had Ruby as a name for a while, so wondered if that went with Lila/lola but not sure.

cazzybabs · 19/11/2007 21:40

Oh dear - dd2 has ear earache...she cannot have any more calpol so in desperation I turned to internet for advice - sometimes a nice hotwaterbottle on the ear helps was the words of wisdom....dd2 had just stopped crying. Would you like the hotwater bottle says I? Yes she says..I put it on her ear. It is too hot she says and cries for the next 5 mintues until daddy rescues her from evil mummy!

Oh god I will have to take another day off work to look after her...I took one off last week beccause she was sick..I could do with Weds off as that is when birthing pool is arriving mind you!

So sods law - I will go into labour tonight/tomorrow with a sick child and no birthing pool!!!!!

bambino1andbump · 19/11/2007 21:51

Evening! Just thought i'd pop in and say had 36 week check up with midwife today (who wasn't usual one and was a gay male one and was fabulous!) and he told me that head is fully engaged!! Panic has set in now as nothing is ready except hospital bag!!!

Hope every one else is ok? We haven't had any births yet have we?

bambino1andbump · 19/11/2007 21:57

Just had a quick scan and see we do have a birth!
Congratulations Beachbunni. Hope all is well and bet LO is adorable.
Night all. Going to rest as pelvis is killing and the waddle is the only look I have now until baby arrives!!!1

buzzybee · 20/11/2007 08:29

Proud mum boast moment alert - told today that my DD (age 5 years, 7 months) has been assessed as having reading age of 7.5

However also had a shock today when I was at playground after school today with DD and turned around just in time to see her fall head first down a set of stairs Luckily it didn't seem to be as bad as I first thought as I ran over to her. I think she actually only tripped on the bottom step and luckily it was onto dirt not concrete...she seemed fine within a couple of mins and not at all keen to "sit quietly" at my request!

LO dancing the cha cha in my tummy today - very distracting when I'm sitting at work trying to respond to emails etc. Another 3.5 weeks at work for me but doesn't seem so bad at the moment. Just hoping I do get a couple of days to do ME stuff after I finish.

Amani · 20/11/2007 08:42

Morning all,

Feeling on top of the world after a good night sleep .

You must be a proud mummy - buzzy

mellymooks · 20/11/2007 08:45

Morning everyone!
I too slept a lot better there must be something in the air!

Amani · 20/11/2007 08:50

Think it's because I'm not stressing about work anymore and knowing I only have 6 days left until m/l!

claraquitebignow · 20/11/2007 09:15

Morning everyone

Macdoodle - I like Lily Cate or Lily Skye - the other names are nice but very popular now.

We're struggling with girls names too. Dh has developed a liking for India as a name but we're not sure that would be politically acceptable if we do go to live in Pakistan next year!

Insy - I thought of another, how about Toby Jesus?? Or Toby Rudolph?

Skidaddle - sorry to hear about your dd. Mine is finally more or less better, she didn't wake up coughing until just before 6am this morning and the croup has well and truely gone.

I am obviously getting close to the end as have had three emails in the last two days asking if I have given birth yet....People are funny aren't they? If I had given birth and was in a position to be checking my emails I would have let them know by now. Still it's nice to know people are thinking of me.

Someone mentioned Raspberry Leaf Tea - I am drinking a cup a day and actually really quite like it!

cazzybabs · 20/11/2007 09:19

Well I had about 3 hours sleep last night - but this morning dd2 was up and full of beans and told me although she still had her bad cough, her earache was much better! I am such knackered...infact I sent dh to sleep in her bed so only one us is tired!

I have the midwife today to do a blood test for pre-eclampsia as I have high blood pressure but no other signs - so figners crossed bp is not getting any higher and blood test will be normal!

Birthing pool arriving tomorrow and 9 more days of work (including this one).

suey2 · 20/11/2007 09:28

LOL clara- i just rang my brother and he said- 'you're not in labour are you?'

I too had a fabulous night's sleep last night after feeling absolutely dreadful all day yesterday. Just as well as i have 2 antenatal classes today. Tomorrow, another antenatal and a baby shower then the growth scan. Eek!

dundee what did the MW say? Any more news?

skidaddle · 20/11/2007 09:33

Morning all,

claraq - glad your dd is better. My d developed this awful rash all over her body last night and had a really high temperature. We were in a right panic fearing the worst but the lady from NHS Direct says it sounds like an allergic reaction or chicken pox at the worst. DH is taking her to the docs today

amani - great news about your ML - I think it's actually ridiculous to expect someone at pur stage of pg to be a productive worker. We should all be made to leave at 36 weeks and paid for it!

buzzy- well done to your DD!

bambino - how exciting - could be you next!

Insy - how about Noel for a middle name if this hasn;t been suggested already?

Poppy - hope the growth scan goes well. I am measuring 3cm behing and my consultant didn;t seem too concerned. i suppose a lot of it has to do with who you seerather than the actual measurement

Re raspberry leaf tea - is anyone taking the capsules? How many are you supposed to take? I am just taking one (640mg) a day but wonder if I should be taking more?

dundeemarmalade · 20/11/2007 09:38

morning all.
thanks again for all your supportive msgs. made me feel much better.
went in to talk things through with a midwife yesterday, and she very sensibly pointed out that femur length and head circ have been following same growth pattern i.e. this is a titchy sproglet rather than a compromised one, as you pointed out thelady.
obviously we still have to wait for the great consultant to confirm this, but application of maths at home confirms that slow-down is proportionate in both measurements. and i didn't realise that the growth charts were only applicable to white caucasian babies, which might explain things a bit... So fingers still firmly crossed, but feeling a bit better.
Frankly would give birth strapped to bed of nails listening to james blunt at high volume, surrounded by student-doctors if only it meant that my baby was born whole, healthy and happy.

claraquitebignow · 20/11/2007 09:44

Dundee - glad to hear things seem a little more positive round your way - lol at James Blunt - are you SURE about that bit?! Hopefully consulatant will confirm what mw has said and put your mind at rest.

Skidd - rash over body etc sounds a bit scary - hope it's nothing serious. Good old NHS Direct, we use them all the time, I do think it's a good service.

mellymooks · 20/11/2007 09:47

Hello, going off at a complete tangent has anyone done the ring over the belly thing to find out if it's a boy or a girl?
Anyone been right with previous pregnancies?
My Mum swears by it as right for all three of us!

skidaddle · 20/11/2007 09:58

dundee - oh good that sounds really promising, esp as the mw doesn't seem concerned. I'm sure the consultant will confirm everything is OK, fingers crossed for tomorrow

mellymooks - I did the ring thing last time and it was right but I put that down to coincdence - no harm in trying it our though!

thanks clara - they are at the docs now but she seems fine so don't think it is anything tooserious
