mixedmama · 19/11/2007 13:12

Hey fifi - hope you are feeling better now with the iron shots.

fifisworld · 19/11/2007 13:17

Hi MM

I feel much better, iron is now 9.4 so still really low but much better than it was!!

becklebigbump · 19/11/2007 13:23

Hi all!
Beachbunni, congrats to you! Hope you are okay and babybunni will be home with you soon. Come and tell us all the details when you are feeling up to it!

Dundee, don't have anything to add on top of what everyone else has said but am thinking of you and hoping that the time will pass quickly until Wednesday and that you will get some (positive) answers x

Insy, How about Toby Joseph for a Christmassy name? I am still completely stumped for Girl's names - may have to start a names thread if I can't think of one soon (something I swore I would not do...). I will KNOW the right name when I see/hear it IYKWIM?

Nbg, I hate it when MWs/docs make these throwaway comments, how can she possibly tell that your LO will be late??? If your last 2 were late there is obviously a chance this one will be but every pregnancy/baby/child is different so there is no real way of telling.

Ambi and all you other bump-picture takers - great pics! Will have to see if I can work out the use of the timer on my camera and take one of mine - its all massive and footbally! TBH I don't take much notice of what people say about shape of bump/sex of baby - they just like to guess! I hear often that all out front is a boy and all round the side is a girl but my Mum carried me and my brothers all out the front. My boys were carried out the front and so is this one (poss a girl but not clear at scan). We'll see soon enough!

MM, to your DH's idea that things might be easier with your BIL if you worked for him... I can't see that living and working with a person you can't get along with will work and agree that business and family/friendship don't go. Does sound like DH is just trying to help (in a usual man's misguided way) but good for you for saying no!

Talking of work I now have a new system for my daytime job where jobs come in by email instead of phone. My boss said to me today "so, will this be a better job for you to do with the baby?" Men! Surely having to check the pooter every 10 mins in case an important job comes in is even more of a tie than answering the phone all the time? At least with the phone you can go out and about a bit! As far as I'm concerned I don't need the money or the stress. Only had 10 mins to play with DS2 this morning due to this bloody job - he is so understanding about it but breaks my heart to keep stopping our games to answer phone. 2 weeks left...

becklebigbump · 19/11/2007 13:25

Hi Fifi! Glad to see you back and that your iron levels have picked up a bit! Not long until you have your LO now...

This thread is starting to get really exciting now!

fifisworld · 19/11/2007 13:31

Thanks beckle, hopefully if i can get the date i want i'll be going in 2 weeks on friday!!!
How scary is that!

Wizzska · 19/11/2007 13:38

Suey and MM - I'm getting quite bad pain in my legs at night now. The pains go right down my legs, no pins and needles, and no cramps, just pain. My hips are so sore at night that often I have to sit up straight for a while on the side of the bed to make them feel normal again. Lying on my side hurts but I can't go in any other position. Not very condusive to a good night's sleep.

hi everyone,

my goodness you have been chatty this weekend!

beachbunni - HUGE congrats on the birth of your little boy - I was wondering what had happened to you as I remember you were having some problems with your pg. Glad everything has worked out well and that he is hom soon

dundee - what an awful shock for you. I hope you are feeling a bit more positive now (esp having read thelady's and others' measurements) - time must be going so slowly for you but only two days left until you get some more info - did you managae to see the mw yesterday?

MM - the leg pains you had were cramp I think - I have had them a few times and they are 1000 times worse than normal cramp - completely excrutiating. I remember someone (poppy?) asking if labour hurt as much and I said definitely not!
Also I am less sympathetic to your DH's suggestion about working with you BIL I'm sure he meant well but as if you would want to work with him when you hate him! I would have been quite but then I am a stroppy cow

Seems like it's my DD's turn to be ill - just a really awful cough and cold but up every hour or two during the night so am knackered and made the executive decision to give myself the day off! Haven;t left the house yet but am going to do some last minute shopping for baby and Xmas in a minute. Think I am also getting over that 36 wk mark (37 tomorrow) as am feeling great, full of energy and even looking forward to the birth

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 13:56

Skid - I was quite at the fact that he mentioned it to his brother as he is such a smug git, but and kept comign back to it and saying "but why". I have been looking on the positive side tho at least he trying to think of solutions, even if they are the wrong ones.

Good to know I am not the only one with the cramp, it is bloody painful.

mellymooks · 19/11/2007 14:07

Well thought I would join in and post a piccie of my bump!
I keep getting really achy hips and pains in my legs too, looks like we're all just reaching that really uncomfortable point, but not long now!!!! Am sooooooo excited!!

Amani · 19/11/2007 14:27

Nice pic melly.

Got confirmation from Personnel that it's ok to change mat leave to next wed instead of staying on until 7th Dec

Horrrraaaay!!!

Bouncingturtle · 19/11/2007 14:27

Been out to M&S (where I've bought a selection of fizzy flavoured wines for upcoming party) and to the library and then onto Asda.
Bloody knackered now!
Dundee - did you manage to get back in touch with your midwife?
MM - don't blame you for not wanting to work with BIL sounds like a recipe for disaster
Fifi - ooh you must be so excited!!!! Keep us posted
Skid - I'm doing my xmas shopping online.... hope your dd feels better soon. Time of the year for coughs and colds unfortunately!

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 14:43

I am thinking of mentioning to DH about finishing up at the end of the week as temping means I dont have to give real notice.... plus the money I will earn by working next week is not really loads.

Amani · 19/11/2007 14:55

MM - as you told me, put yourself first - you'll appreciate it!!!!

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 14:56

hahahaha Amani

macdoodle · 19/11/2007 14:59

Amani at finshing next week I have till 7 Dec But only 7 of those are working days

Amani · 19/11/2007 15:05

McDoodle - it's too much of a struggle sitting at my desk all day - get these awful back aches and aches at the bottom of my bump.

Shells · 19/11/2007 17:00

Hi everyone, its very early here in NZ but can't sleep as I too have achey legs. The pain was sciatic a few weeks ago, but now just hugely achey, they feel like they must weigh 100 pounds each. I find that stretching them with my toes pointing back to me helps a bit. But not enough....

Shells · 19/11/2007 17:02

Saw a friend yesterday with brand new baby who had a csection. Her waters broke, and they said she only had 24 hours after that to deliver, which she didn't as first labour, so they operated. Has anyone heard this theory before?

mellymooks · 19/11/2007 17:05

Ah Shells I totally know what you mean, you have my sympathy!! I lived in NZ for a year say hello from me, I miss it!
Sleep seems to have totally left my life these days, I s'pose we have to get used to it though eh?!

Shells · 19/11/2007 17:08

I know Melly. Maybe its just good practice for those nights to come...

mellymooks · 19/11/2007 17:16

i guess so but it's not much consolation eh??! I so miss sleeping on my tummy with my arms up underneath my pillow, that was always my fave sleeping position and haven't been able to do that since about 8 weeks along....
My sis says even now she can only sleep on her left side (her kids are 6 & 4) hope I'm not like that as I'm really looking forward to resuming my much loved sleeping position, but I guess I won't be able to until I stop breastfeeding either!!

Housemum · 19/11/2007 17:23

Shells, never heard of a section because you haven't gone into labour before - certainly in some countries they are quicker to induce than here in UK (UK it's 48 hours, US it's 24 or less) but a section would be last resort - perhaps baby was in distress? Meconium in the waters or something?

Beanstermummy · 19/11/2007 17:26

Sleep - what's that??? I seem completely unable to chill and sleep in the night but once Dh and DD are off to work/nursery (not sure who does which!! ) I flake out and wake up midday time - cycle then continues that I'm then not sleepy at nighttime - Ahh - Ahh Oh well - keep telling myself not long now. At least rash isn't that ichy at the mo' sp have stopped stressing about OC.

The Lady - snap with the rain cover - DD was born in May and so we keep reasling that we didn't do the winter type things - am hoping universal rain covers are easily available?!
It's so grim up here today - really can't imagine having to transport a LO around in the wind and rain

Shells - I know for me last time my waters went at 7am and after relatively even ish progression I was 9cm at 6pm but was stilla t 9 at midnight so a CS it was as both me and DD were knackered - that might be what they are talking about - a rought sort of length of time a LO can take being without fluid support and being squeezed by contractions? I'm jsut hoping this time things go really quickly and LO pops out easily.

Anyone else on the raspberry tea yet??
