Hello everyone. Will you come and join me?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 26/11/2007 12:00

clara

im due sat too but all along have thought it was going to happen sooner.

lots of rumblings down below that i did not have with dd so something is happening but kinda hoping that piles go first as thought of pushing at the moment makes me feel a bit queasy!

Ambi · 26/11/2007 12:03

Suey - I have 4 hospital bags (yes I know!!) but keep the labour bag in the car with my notes as we?ve doing a lot of visiting outside our NHS trust area, no previous experience so not sure if could be fast labour or not. I guess I really don?t want to go in without my bits: camera/ notes. Leaving the other stuff at home for DH to collect once I?m in.

Oh choc, sounds awful, mine are getting worse too but nowhere near as bad as that.

Ok I?ve tidied & polished now but still need to hoover and mop, but finding it really difficult to motivate myself today.

Baby is starting to feel really heavy down below now as if it could literally fall out soon ? if only it were that easy.

claraquitebignow · 26/11/2007 12:04

Oooh CP what kind of rumblings? How exciting although yes I imagine you would want to get rid of the piles first!! Make sure you do whatever you need to - rest is probably the best thing isn't it???

I went to the supermarket this morning and feel so enormous I can't believe people aren't gasping in horror wonder as I pass. However, it amazes me how most people just ignore heavily pregnant women. I think they are all completely focused on buying their three million items of food they think they need for Christmas.....

claraquitebignow · 26/11/2007 12:05

Ambi - step away from the hoover! Put your feet up instead - you shouldn't do too much if you can help it.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 26/11/2007 12:06

ambi lol at your 4 bags!

i had suitcase and bag with dd but she was a planned section so knew i was in for 5 days

this time got two large bags but really struggled in not overfilling them and have not put any clothes for me to come out in as will ask dh to bring something at time.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 26/11/2007 12:08

been having strong braxtons for weeks and over weekend felt pressure in pubic bone area and put hand there and felt babys head moving about

Ambi · 26/11/2007 12:08

Mostly everyone is on Maternity Leave now, or due to start very soon?

Buzzy, not surprised about longer cycles being overdue. When I calculated my dates, my due date was 14th Dec (40 day cycles) but the medical profession insist on using LMP date regardless. The due date (4th Dec) they've given my is wrong, I did not conceive the week they reckon as I had a stonking cold and there's no way DH would have come anywhere near me!

Ambi · 26/11/2007 12:13

I guess I could save those fun jobs for tomorrow!!! but there's bugger all on TV today, though have 5 series of 24 to get into, so might start on that later.

Am not stepping on the scales again until after baby is born, now approaching the weight I was 2 years ago and I swore I'd not do that again (though I know there's a very valid reason) It's just gone up so much in the last week - might have something to do with the box of roses I managed to devour over the weekend so maybe it was worth it after all.

claraquitebignow · 26/11/2007 12:19

Ambi - no such thing as maternity leave when you have another child to look after
However can't complain as she is at the Childminders today and tomorrow and I am so past doing unecessary housework, I can play on the computer instead!! Am trying (but failing) to buy Peppa Pig stickers online and am also now thinking (after all the discussion about it) about going to seperate out my labour and hospital bag so I have a smaller bag to take onto labour ward with me and leave bigger bag in car....

Hmmm.

Wizzska · 26/11/2007 12:24

Ambi - surely this is one time not to worry about what the scales say! I weighed myself this week and am 12 st 3lbs, have gone up from just under 10. I really couldn't care less what I weigh.

I have 3 bags packed and I'm planning a home birth!

Just had the midwife round. Everything is fine, baby is in a good position, head in pelvis but not engaged so I may have a little bit of time left. I'm not surprised, I think the due dates they give are off, I have a pretty long cycle usually so wouldn't be surprised if my actual due date is later.

OP posts:
suey2 · 26/11/2007 12:27

yep, i have put on 3 stone after a very slow start at the beginning! Never mind, it will be the fastest initial bit of weight loss after delivery. Am hoping BF will help with the rest and getting out for walks with the bugaboo ASAP. MUST try to fill the house with healthy foods, too.

Not feeling any 'imminence' about this labour at all. Still can't imagine being a mummy.

suey2 · 26/11/2007 12:31

my cycle was varying between 19 days and 35 days so i have no idea when the likely due date is! All i know is that ti cannot be the 10th (from the dating scan) as i was painting my parent's ceiling that week. I also know that i had a BFP 27 days after my last period, which makes me think that the real due date is the 5th of dec.

However, am trying really hard to NOT fixate on due date. (was it 5% on due date?) When people ask me now when i am due, i tend to say 'any time', meaning any time in the next 4 weeks.

claraquitebignow · 26/11/2007 12:35

It's hard to know exactly when your due date is because it's hard to know exactly when conception takes place. You might have sex on day one but only release the egg on day three. The sperm will hang around until the egg is released and therefore conception takes place two days after intercourse. Or the other way round - you release your egg, then have sex the next day and conception takes place then or even a day later.

Does any of that make sense?

suey2 · 26/11/2007 12:50

Sure. I can only go on when i got the BFP really. The hospitals dates would mean i got BFP one week after conception which seems unlikely

Bouncingturtle · 26/11/2007 13:58

Oh weird!!!! Was just sat loooking through some NCT leaflets, belly was feeling hard and looking very uneven so pulled trousers down so have a look and my belly button popped out! Gone back in again now...

Bouncingturtle · 26/11/2007 13:59

Nope it's an outy again!!

becklebigbump · 26/11/2007 14:00

First of all huge huge congrats to TheLady & her DH and welcome to little Frances! Lovely name, hope you are all doing well!

Secondly welcome to RGPargy, I have added you to our list although with a DD of tomorrow perhaps you won't make December!

MacDoodle, did you speak to the MW about the pain you were getting? Hope you are okay!

Pecka, it is hard to believe how close we are now after all the worry at the beginning isn't it? I think all those names are lovely but I like Eva the best. Our top girl's name at the moment is Evie (provided baby doesn't arrive on Christmas or New Year's Eve) but we're still not sure its the 'right' name IYKWIM?

Clara, I think Mattie is just fine for a girl, especially if that is what you will call her most of the time anyway. We were going to call DS2 Jacob but as we knew it would end up shortened to Jake anyway, that is the name we gave him.

Anyway, hoping everyone else is okay!

claireybraxtonhicks · 26/11/2007 14:08

Wow congrats to TheLady!

Skid your dd saying "I love you" brought a tear to my eye!

Had a hectic weekend, my sister and parents came on Friday evening for dinner, then Saturday my friends all arrived from Kent. We did our secret santa pressie opening then went out for dinner. Then Sunday my sister, mum, and an old family friend arrived as they had conspired with my friends to give me a baby shower so I had a huge pile of presents to open (was really embarrassed). Didn't really do anything too strenuous but was just up later than usual and I suppose just having people around is more tiring than being on your own so was dead on my feet by about 2pm yesterday!

DD is poorly with a chesty cough and had a temperature yesterday, plus she refused a nap as there was too much going on so she was having tantrums all afternoon! Luckily once everyone left at about 5.30pm we bathed her straight away and put her into bed-she fought it for a while but within about 2 minutes of me sitting by the cot holding her hand she went to sleep. I really didn't think she would sleep then as it was so much earlier than her usual bedtime but I was so relieved that she did cos I needed to rest!

One of my friends bought me a beautiful fleece all in one for the baby but she accidentally bought it in prem size and I already know from all the scans that baby's legs are too long to fit it. Took it to my local Next to exchange it but they didn't have it and nor did any of the other local stores that they tried for me so I had to get a refund voucher instead. They don't have it online either Really disappointed cos it was lovely and a bit different to the others I've seen.

On the plus side - the crib is now up (still waiting for the matress to get delivered though!) and the baby clothes and nappies are all washed! Just need them to dry and I can pack my bags!

Kitsilano · 26/11/2007 14:12

congrats thelady! hope you are enjoying the early days.

Bouncingturtle · 26/11/2007 14:12

I hope so Beckle!
Clairy what a lovely surprise annoying about the fleece though!

I see from list that JARM is now one day over due and RGPargy is due today! How exciting PLus NBG tomorrow! Where are the babies??

skidaddle · 26/11/2007 14:20

clairey - it took two years of hard work!! (i.e. telling her I loved her about 5 times every day) - the really annoying thing is that she says it more to DH than me and he never used to say it (does now that she says it back though!) but it was the first thing she said when she woke up this morning - I lub yooo mummy - my goodness any amount of agony during childbirth, two hour tantrums is worth that! I'm sure your dd will be doing the same soon
Sounds like a great w/e you had!

bouncing - how freaky - has it stayed out

beckle - any more BHs fro you? it sounded like you were close last week

And hi to RGPargy and welcome back to Pecka - it does seem such a long time ago that you were scared you might lose your baby and now look at us all!

I reckon I've put on close to three stone this time although haven;t weighed myself in ages but am not worried at all - a newborn and a toddler - eating will be the last thing I'll have time to do!!

skidaddle · 26/11/2007 14:23

ooh kitsilano - how are you? How's everything going??

claraquitebignow · 26/11/2007 14:44

Claireyb - my dd didn't sleep on Saturday as dh had promised to take her swimming in the afternoon and she was too excited. Anyway after he eventually pursuaded her to get out of the pool (after about 2 hours...) she had a complete meltdown in the changing cubicle and would not get dressed. He tried everything he could (including calling me a few times...) but it took him one and a half hours (!!) before he was able to get some clothes on her and back into the car... she had totally shredded her nappy by this time and tried to fall asleep naked with her head on the wall of the cubicle....

We've learnt our lesson: she doesn't go out in the afternoon unless she's had a nap now!

claireybraxtonhicks · 26/11/2007 14:51

Lol Clara-I can imagine my dd doing that! My mum took her to the car to get something and she refused to come back in the house afterwards, just planted herself about 50m away shouting "NO!"

Skid why do dd's always seem to say stuff to daddy more than mummy?! DH had been evicted for the weekend to make room for 9 females but yesterday dd was saying "thank you daddy" everytime anyone gave her something and ran after me calling "daddy daddy" when I left the room. She then ran after my sister calling her mummy-I was not impressed!
