Hi ladies 👋 I'm tentatively setting up a thread for those of us who have made the scary leap from infertility to a BFP and still need a hand hold from others who get it 🤝

I'm only 4+4 and already worrying that the BFP is too good to be true (I've had a previous MMC at 10+5, so that bitter experience doesn't help). Would love the company of other warrior ladies to go through the ups and downs of this emotional roller coaster for as long as it lasts 🎢

@Bella1984 and @PT8998, tagging you ladies on the hope that you'll join me 💗

Hey lovelies

Hope you're not all dreading work tomorrow too much? Sounds like everyone had a lovely Bank hol weekend, well maybe not @PT8998 you poor thing! Please god it is just normal early spotting but def must be stressful 😓

Your colleague sounds lovely and absolutely has to know that so well done for telling him.

I've just been sat like a total nerd calculating my maternity B7 pay haha its awesome!

I was 4 days a week at the middle of Band 6 pay scale as pre covid had my own mobile physio business which would make me £150-200 a week for a days work! So I took a big hit financially over the past year. But l good now.worked out after tax I'll be getting £900 more per month which is a game changer for me! Not meaning to be crude and chat finances I'm just chuffed with it. And that we fet a year maternity on the NHS how awesome is that?!

Are you guys planning on taking the full year? I def am. I just think it's precious time you can't get back and my B7 will be waiting for me when I get back! I'll def try and keep up with my CPD and stuff but sure we will see! Might be a tad busy haha.

Yes my bump is wild I swear it's very noticeable and quite low. I reckon I look about 4 months pregnant, not 6 + 4!!!

I'm much more relaxed about the USS on Thursday now maybe coz I look and feel super pregnant! I just have a good gut feeling so hoping I'm right and all 4 of us get good 7 week scans! 🙏

I've gone from anxious to just so excited now.

Hope you all had a nice evening xx

Bella1984 · 03/05/2021 22:26

That restaurant sounds unreal @BambiOnIce80! Next time I'm visiting my wee bro in Ed I'm booking a table!

Ps have you guys thought about names or are you being much more cautious than me? I've had my fave boys and girls names for years tbf 😂

Would love to hear what you guys like and I'll share mine xx

PT8998 · 04/05/2021 06:54

@BambiOnIce80 @Bella1984 I am glad I told him too! I am just wanting the spotting to stop. It’s still going and had some brown stringy clots in it this morning. Still not red, not crampy. I feel super sick this morning too - hoping that’s a pregnancy symptom!

I hope everyone enjoys their days back at work today! I’ll be going in and joining a new team. So that’s going to be interesting!

Not long until you ladies have your scans now, can we please wish the time away for me to get to the 18th May?! 🤞🏼😂

louloulemons · 04/05/2021 07:36

Please may I join you all? Also counting down the days to my first scan in 2 weeks. I’ve got no symptoms except tiredness and feeling so anxious that it’s going to go the same way as last time

Bella1984 · 04/05/2021 08:30

@PT8998 😓 I am sorry it hasn't stopped. Have you thought about giving your GP a ring? I think it is too long for you to wait. . . I don't think I could!

Good luck with your new rotation, what a time to have to move 🙈 Hope you're new team and team lead are nice 🤞

Still no sickness for me, a little nauseous with certain foods like raw and red meat, which isn't like me! Still getting crazy temperature changes, cold feet, hungry all the time and definite weird cravings. And don't don't talk to me about mu bladder, it is ridiculous I've never gone to the loo so much in all my life! 2 more sleeps until my scan and I honestly am so excited now more than anxious. Hopefully it will all go to plan! 🙏

Happy Tuesday ladies xx

Bella1984 · 04/05/2021 08:32

@louloulemons welcome!

You are at a similar stage to @PT8998 then. Myself and Bambi 😉 have our 7 week USS this Thursday! I can't remember when yours is @Em sorry?

So did you have a 5 day fresh ET? Or FET? Is this not your first ivf cycle? Where are you based?

Xx

louloulemons · 04/05/2021 09:32

Thank you! Yes my scan is the 18th, I think I had my transfer the day after @PT8998!

Yep I had a 5 day FET. I had my first cycle which was a fresh ICSI in September which sadly ended in a MMC found at my 7 week scan in October. Feel so lucky to have been given a second chance.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/05/2021 11:15

Welcome @louloulemons! 😍 I'm soooooo pleased to see you here! 🤩 Last update I saw from you I was worried, so I'm delighted for you that all is well now! 😃 I hear you on the anxiety ❤️ I'm beginning to suspect that the only reason I'm begin to feel sporadically queasy is because scan day is getting closer and closer 😥 I really hope we've both got nothing to worry about this time 🤞🍀🤞🍀

That's all sounding like promising early pregnancy stuff then @PT8998 🤞🤞🤞My midwife booking appointment is the 18th of May too... well, it will be if the scan this week goes OK 🔮 Good luck with your new team today 🍀

@Bella1984 I must admit that despite my trepidation and the fear that I'm going to have another MMC, I still have had a cheeky glance at the mat leave policy! 🙈 I don't know if NI is the same as Scotland, but we get 8 weeks full pay, 18 weeks half pay plus statutory and then the next 13 weeks is just statutory (so I'd ask to have it evened out from the word go!). I also noticed that they calculate your full pay based on the 2 months prior to 15 weeks before your due date, which just happens to be whilst I'm doing an acting up role! 😬 Not sure if they'll calculate it off of that if it's not my substantive post though 🤔 On the names front, it's definitely still too early for me and my paranoia! 😂 I don't think I'd dare go there before 20 weeks 🙊 I do know (because we totally started discussing names after the 7 week scan last time 😏) that we'd likely be going for an Italian first name and British middle name, but we'll see how things pan out 🔮

Em916 · 04/05/2021 11:51

Welcome @louloulemons! My 7 week scan is tues 11th May so 1 week apart.

Sorry to hear you also had a MMC, my 7 week scan last time was all good with a strong heart beat and then 10 week one it was all gone : ( it's so much harder to not let anxiety get the better of you but that's what we are all here for!

Thanks for restaurant name @BambiOnIce80 and that's great news @Bella1984 your promotion is so much extra! Definitely came at the right time. Your colleague sounded lovely @PT8998 so a shame you are moving teams. Good luck with the new team! Hopefully you'll find someone just as nice to confide in.

Last time I did start thinking of baby names @Bella1984 but going to wait this time until 12 weeks! I get 6 months paid maternity and my partner was going to try and get 3-6 months off unpaid at the same time. I know doesn't make sense financially but thought it would be nice if all off together. No idea what his work might say though!

I did my test today and still saying +3 weeks, phew!!! I felt so nervous before this one. Going to be a wreck by this time next week!

louloulemons · 04/05/2021 18:00

Thank you! I feel a bit queasy when I think about it too @BambiOnIce80. I honestly think I have some kind of post traumatic stress from the last one! At least DH is allowed in with me this time. He had to sit on a bench outside the building last time which didn't help at all. Keeping everything crossed for us both that we can have a happy and positive experience this time.

I have a lovely long list of names that I have to admit, I've had a little read through again after banning myself for months!! I can't help myself!! I also have a crochet blanket I started in September which seems to have found its way out of the cupboard again!!

Glad the test went well @Em916!

Bella1984 · 04/05/2021 18:38

Hi ladies

Sorry hard to keep up had a very busy day

Had my covid test at the film studios and met the producer and some cast all very exciting I cannot wait to get my costume! Getting measured later on this week and then a 1950s style dress made for me. Can't wait for glam 50s make up and hair too! How fun 😍

Yes mat leave same for me, so good. Do you mean you can ask them to pay an even amount over the 52 weeks?! That would be amazing and much easier from a budgeting aspect!

That's good you don't have long to wait until 11th May for your USS. Only 2 more sleeps for me doesn't even feel real, maybe it finally will when we hear the heartbeat 🙏

I get you all about names and getting ahead of myself but I've been thinking about them for many years now, maybe since I was about 30! What will be will be I don't believe in jinxing things I belive in the law of attraction and the secret I'd you've read any of those? I bought a 5 door car a few months ago before I knew I was pregnant 😊

So my faves are

Theo Percy (my husband's dad was called Percy and he sadly passed of cancer before I met him)
Charles Percy
Arthur Percy

Gracie Sofia
Darcey Elizabeth
Sofia Elizabeth. . .

An Italian first name sounds lovely. I adore Mateo, Luca and more but not sure how a red head from Northern Ireland could carry those off! My big sis is Lucy so Lucia is too similar, but love it.

Hope you're all having an OK day xx

Bella1984 · 04/05/2021 18:40

Ps I hate this bloody app

I spaced that out all nicely and then it's posted it in a big clump FFS!

Plus it won't let me tag you guys atm for some reason 😤

Rant over haha xx

BambiOnIce80 · 04/05/2021 22:30

Excellent news on the 3+ weeks result @Em916 😊 6 months full pay sounds amazing! That would definitely make things easier 💸

I'm joining you with the PTSD @louloulemons 😔 My counsellor asked me if we'd go for a reassurance scan between the 7 & 12 week scans if we made it past the 7 week scan (given my neurotic ramblings, she felt she should ask 😏) and just the thought of walking back into that same private scanning place makes my palms go sweaty, so no chance of that happening! 😥 I'm really glad your DH can go in with you this time ❤️

@Bella1984 yes, they give us the option to average it out over however long we choose to be off so I'd definitely go for that if I get that far. I've been thinking about names since 2010, so long that I've completely gone off the ones I originally liked 😂 Teodoro (shortened to Teo) was one of the names DP didn't hate last time... I guess we'll see what happens this time 🔮

Oh I am such an idiot. I went to do my cyclogest tonight and realised the packet said 200 on it instead of 400. I got a new prescription after transfer and they’ve given me a different dose to last time, I’m supposed to have been taking 2 at a time instead of one and they didn’t say anything when I collected it so I didn’t even think. And I’ve only just realised, so that’s a whole week of half the dose. I feel a bit panicky and sick wondering what damage I’ve done. I’ve phoned the early pregnancy unit but they don’t have a clue about fertility clinic guidance. I’m so bloody stupid!!!

Oh, what a shock @louloulemons! 😟 If it helps, I'm only on 200mg of progesterone 3 times a day so what you've been taking isn't too short of that. It's pretty poor of your clinic not to realise/point out that they've given you a different dosage - I hope they sort it out this morning 🤞

OP posts:
Em916 · 05/05/2021 08:04

That is very poor of your clinic @louloulemons. My clinic did the same but were very clear about doubling up. Can you give them a ring? I know when I was spotting they told me to double up so maybe if you've not had spotting then it's been ok for you? Hopefully someone at the clinic can reassure you.

@BambiOnIce80 yes the thought of going back to same private scan place makes me feel sick. I went to window to the womb and actually glad I'm moving so never need to go back!

Exciting costume fitting is happening tomorrow too @Bella1984. Are you going to meet joe as well? I really liked jemima kirke in girls so I hope she's one of the good ones too.

Em916 · 05/05/2021 08:08

And don't be tough on yourself @louloulemons. I did not notice the dose on my packet at all from the first time so would never have noticed myself if it changed from 400mg to 200mg.

louloulemons · 05/05/2021 08:12

Thanks girls, I’ve got myself in such a state about it. I don’t know how I’ll ever forgive myself if everything goes wrong. It’s not the clinic, they prescribed 400, it’s the stupid hospital pharmacy who have given me 200s instead.

PT8998 · 05/05/2021 08:36

@louloulemons hey! Nice to see you again! I wouldn’t worry too much, as you’ll have had some progesterone going in, how long have you been doing a lesser dose? Just notify the clinic ASAP, they can advise on the next steps!

Sorry for the radio silence over the past 24 hours or so. My spotting increased yesterday morning. I was in work and went to the toilet about 0845. I was bleeding bright red with clots. No mistaking it, no denying what was going on. I rushed back to the department to put a pad on and then went to find my new senior to try and tell her what was going on. I bumped into her in the corridor and I said “ooh, can we have a quick chat as I need to talk to you about something urgently” all smiling and happy, and then I instantly just cried and said “I’m losing my baby”. It was horrific. I was petrified. I then got sent home and as soon as I left works building I rang the clinic and left a voicemail to let them know what was going on. I got home and was so sad, I felt it was all over. I started getting that lightening crotch as I passed a few clots, but then after an hour- two hours it stopped. Then the bleeding slowed, came to almost a stop then late last night it turned back to almost spotting/dark red blood that’s barely there when I wipe again.

Anyway, clinic rang me, and just asked lots of questions and then came to the conclusion that things may be okay (or at least what I gathered) she said that a lot of the things I was saying led her to be reassured (i.e. bleeding wasn't filling a pad, not vomiting, no cramps, no back pain) and when I said I had the lightening crotch type pain, she asked me to clarify and I said I had it intermittently for an hour or so and it was essentially like a sharp spasm in cervix kind of location and then a clot would pass, but no other sensations were present. I also told her that I had food aversions and nausea and she was pleased to hear that too. She then mentioned about the earlier scan being pointless, that they'd consider bloods later down the line but not worth it at the moment (The previous nurse also said the same at the weekend phone call too) and then just said it all sounds promising and things were settling. She then said if I needed anything further, that I know where they are and to not hesitate to ring and she advised me to stay off work until bleeding has completely settled.

On a positive note, my CB digi came back 3+ (my last one was 2-3) and my cheapie tests are still super strong. So I’m hoping I don’t see them tail off by the end of the week 😭

So here I am, in bed. On strict orders to not do anything heavy, so I am off work for a while.
My plan of action is

  • To call my GP today to keep them informed and order more meds as they’re due to run out over the weekend.
  • Book an early scan (we are going to another town an hour away as it’s the only place I can get a scan before viability date).
  • Relax and just hope that everything is okay!

How is everyone? Happy Wednesday lovely ladies ❤️ I hope that you’re all having a better week than I am currently!

Bella1984 · 05/05/2021 09:48

I'm so so sorry @PT8998 😓 I don't think your clinic have been very supportive at all.

I would have expected they would have gotten you in for bloods and a scan ASAP with that amount of bleeding. . . I really hope it is not the worst case scenario.

I'm glad you're off work and resting that's definitely what you need, either way your body has been through so much.

@louloulemons I think the other ladies have given you good advice, I actually don't take progesterone as its my husband either the fertility issues in our house! But half the dose as hopefully been enough and remember most women might not know they are pregnant so early and would be be taking progesterone. So I think you should be OK. Very poor of the pharmacy. I have OCD so I checked my injections dose etc on a daily basis, good job as my clinic actually sent me the wrong ones at one point!

@BambiOnIce80 just one more sleep to go can you believe it?! Wish mine was earlier, rest of my.bloody ivf apps have been crack of dawn often 7am so of course when I want it to be early it's not until 12 🙈

@Em916 Jo will be around I'm sure, but if don't meet him tomorrow I def will soon as we will be on stage together, very exciting 😍

Happy hump day ladies xx

Bella1984 · 05/05/2021 09:50
  • husband WITH the fertility issues in our house

*most women would NOT be taking progesterone

Sorry, damn autocorrect x

BambiOnIce80 · 05/05/2021 13:22

Bloody hell @PT8998, what a horrible time you've had of it!! 😥 Staying off, keeping your feet up and chilling as much as you possibly can definitely sounds like the best course of action 🙏 How have you gotten on with the GP and booking the private scan? Sending you huge positive vibes and keeping everything crossed for you 💓🤞💓🤞

I think I'd be asking the clinic to raise that as an incident with the pharmacy @louloulemons. In my experience the pharmacist doesn't give out different dosage pills/meds/whatever without mentioning it to you when they hand it over, so this has been quite poor practice on the hospital pharmacies part. How did you get on with speaking to the clinic? I'm hoping everything is OK 🤞🤞🤞

@Bella1984 the progesterone thing for us FET ladies is that most of us will have been put into a chemically induced menopause in order for our clinics to take control of our cycles and to do the transfer. It unfortunately means that we're not making any (or very, very little) of our own oestrogen and progesterone, so we're completely dependent on the synthetic stuff to keep the pregnancy going until the placenta takes over at 8-9ish weeks (it's amazing what we become experts in with this infertility crap! 😂). I can't believe it's one more sleep either! 😱 It's weird to think that by this time tomorrow I'll be put out of my agony, one way or another 🔮

Hi, just wondering if I can join this thread too. I've been reading along for a while (sorry to be a stalker!) but didn't feel comfortable joining in. Anyway, I had my "viability scan" this morning - what a name - and everything looked okay, so that was a huge relief. I felt like I was going to chuck up in the waiting room, but I wasn't sure if that was also due to trying to eat at 5.30am to get to our appointment on time. The two hour drive to Dundee has not helped the whole process...

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope you're all doing okay.

BambiOnIce80 · 05/05/2021 16:19

Ooooooh, welcome @OM82 - another one in Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🤩 Congratulations on getting past the viability scan hurdle! 🥳🎉🥳 🎉 I really hope I'll be joining you in that tomorrow, but bricking it that I'll get bad news 😥 What do they reckon your estimated due date will be from your scan?
