Hi ladies 👋 I'm tentatively setting up a thread for those of us who have made the scary leap from infertility to a BFP and still need a hand hold from others who get it 🤝

I'm only 4+4 and already worrying that the BFP is too good to be true (I've had a previous MMC at 10+5, so that bitter experience doesn't help). Would love the company of other warrior ladies to go through the ups and downs of this emotional roller coaster for as long as it lasts 🎢

@Bella1984 and @PT8998, tagging you ladies on the hope that you'll join me 💗

Hey ladies

I've been on the alcohol free stuff for about 2 years with the exception of my birthday, Christmas & in between my 1st and second cycle. Kobbaberg have a lovely non alcoholic range esp the pear one my mum got some for me. Love the M&S got air balloon one, will have to the white next. I'm a gin conisseaur, loved it way before it was trendy! I have around 12 lovely bottles in our drinks cabinet, they've been neglected lately 😫 M.and S do lovely alcohol free G&T tins and Seedlip zero alcohol gin is a winner too.

I really hope the counsellor can reassure you a wee bit tomorrow or at least give you some coping strategies.
I never found CBT effective and am too highly string for yoga 🤣 I like to run, walking lots atm to keep me sane. I did 32,000 steps on Saturday!

I would personally do a test as you're thinking its bad anyway, so if you do it and it's good then you would relax a wee bit maybe? Sure see what the counsellor advises tomorrow. Do all clinics offer this as a service do you know?

Xx

Bella1984 · 26/04/2021 22:11

Ps I'm waiting on a cool extras part for a new drama filming here called Hope street. Sets are super safe as have to get lateral flow tests day before and day of filming. All socially distanced on set and they're v strict as the cast are precious of course!

It's for the day before my 7wk scan which would be a perfect distraction. Hopefully I get it.

Ps my clinic are still advising NOT to get the vaccine while pregnant. One study in USA on 9000 women deemed modern and Pfizer safe, but that was for the mother. No data on unborn baby or enough time passed to follow up. I am planning on shielding basically for rest of first trimester and being very strict for whole pregnancy. Gona be a wee hermit!

What do you do for work @Em? Sorry if you've told us that mh brains away atm. WFH for a year is epic, so jealous! My husband has been the same he's in sales and marketing. Tbf I love the hustle and bustle of a busy hospital and actually enjoyed when was redeployed to covid wards despite the stress and lack of PPE at that time. But for IVF working is a nightmare, too many phone calls and apps aren't there!

Factor 50?! I'm a red head and I don't wear 50 🤣 I'm weird though I do actually tan! With more freckles of course 😉

Hope you all sleep well xx

Em916 · 27/04/2021 08:02

I did my test this morning and it’s 3+ but as I wiped there was some blood : ( very worried now as it’s too late for implantation bleeding. And it was a bit more than spotting. I’ll call the clinic but I bet they can’t help as probably nothing they can do.

Bella1984 · 27/04/2021 08:15

Morning, oh try not to worry you got a positive +3 test which is the best it could be at this point? I've read spotting it a sign for a lot of women in the first trimester? I personally haven't but seems a lot of people do. Def ring your clinic maybe a nurse can reassure you xx

Em916 · 27/04/2021 10:56

Thanks @Bella1984. It’s just hard not to think the worst after last time : ( and seemed more than spotting. Waiting for the clinic to phone me back. I hate all this not knowing and waiting : (

Sounds exciting about the potential new show. Fingers crossed!!! And thanks for update from your clinic on vaccinations.

I work in finance and completed desk based. I wish I could nap during the day but if I do I wake up totally grumpy.

@BambiOnIce80 hope the counselling session is good. Let us know how it goes.

BambiOnIce80 · 27/04/2021 18:58

@Bella1984 I have the non-alcoholic pear kopparberg in the fridge too🍐🍻 I'm finding it a bit sweet, but it's nice for a change 👌 Good luck for the part 🍀 That would be an awesome distraction! 🤩

The counselling ended up basically being a venting session, but it has helped a bit. My counsellor is good craic (she's a Dub 😉) and conceded that I'm tricky to deal with because all of my concerns are logical and scientific, so pretty difficult to put my fears at ease 😏 I was wide awake between 1am and 4am disappearing down the rabbit hole because I didn't need a wee! 🐰🤦🏻‍♀️ I caved this morning and did 2 Internet cheapy tests after a 2 hour hold (at least I'd know if my lines were weak/non-existent) and I've got 2 nice, strong lines, so that's chilled me out quite a bit 😪 I know it doesn't mean there'll be a heartbeat there, but I'm hoping it'll keep me relatively calm until next Thursday 🤞

How did the call go with your clinic @Em916? I hope you're OK ❤️ Could it just be irritation from the pessaries or normal early pregnancy stuff? That's what I'm keeping everything crossed for you for 🤞🤞🤞

Bella1984 · 27/04/2021 19:22

@BambiOnIce80 so pleased with your tests, I thought that would make you feel better.

I am the same with counselling, been told I'm too smart for my own good ha. A venting session is good though, get it off your chest.

I am forever awake between 1.30ish and 4am every night since BFP weird!

Pear koppaberg is too sweet for me too, I add a dash of soda water and lots of ice 👌 must get some more alcohol free gin!

I'm just as anxious about 7 week scan, I'm not sure how I would recover from it if doesn't go to plan. But I do have a good feeling in my gut that it's going to work out. I feel like I'm due some good luck, we all do by the sounds of it 🙏

Heading to my dads to watch the footy Im a huge Chelsea fan, champs league semi final tonight. A good distraction!

Yes hoping I get that's extras part will be back WFH but then but can just book leave as not like I can fly anywhere for a holiday anyway 🙈 the covid crisis in India is just horrendous. Its one of my fave places in the world. So so sad 😥 really hoping there is not a big spike in cases in England/ Scotland with easing of restrictions.

Enjoy your evening ladies xx

Em916 · 27/04/2021 20:23

Thanks @Bella1984 : ) clinic told me to double up on pessaries for 48 hours but i already need to double up as have 200mg instead of 400mg so thankfully they told me not to take 4 at once!!! but take 2 every 4 hours. For now that has stopped the bleeding so feeling a bit better. Going to try and chill out and do another test next tues to see how it looks.

Good you got something out the counselling! And great news on the tests, hopefully you’ll sleep a bit better tonight.

Enjoy the football @BambiOnIce80 and seeing your dad! A very good distraction, especially if you win. Not a massive fan but watch all the internationals. Really excited for the euros especially as can cheer on my team Scotland for the first time in a long time!

Bella1984 · 28/04/2021 07:39

Oh my goodness you poor thing with all those pessaries. I'm so grateful I don't have to take them anymore. Glad to hear the bleeding has stopped, it does sound normal for a lot of women early pregnancy so try not to worry (easier said than done of course!)

Yeah I love football I actually played for Northern Ireland and Man U ladies up until my 20s, have now had 7 major knee reconstructions so that put stop to that! I went on to be their physio and travelled the world for 3 years with the team before I joined the NHS.

So I slept from 11.30pm ish until 7am with only one toilet break and not laying awake all night! Yay. Hopefully that's a good sign, usually means my mood is levelling out again 🙏

I had my first lule warm bath yesterday it was amazing! My mum gave me a glass thermometer from her candle making kit which you can just float about to me sure it's not too hot. I've just treated myself to a beautiful reclaimed wood bath caddy so I can put my book, candles, alcohol free wine etc on it! Lush

Hope you're all doing OK?

Happy hump day gang 🐪 we've got this 💪

Xx

BambiOnIce80 · 28/04/2021 11:16

That's a relief that the bleeding has stopped @Em916 💐 The pessaries are one of the least glamorous aspects of a FET, but they're clearly essential 💊 I think I might join you and do a clearblue weeks indicator on Monday. I should be 25dp5dt by then, so if I don't get a 3+ weeks at that point then I know to brace myself for the scan a few days later 🔮

I think things are going to go nuts here for the Euros ⚽ It's something like the first time in 30 years, isn't it?

Soooo pleased to hear you got a good night's sleep @Bella1984 😊 I came around at some point in the middle of the night and thought "oh, I kind of need a wee! Maybe things are going OK after all!", but then went straight back to sleep because I wasn't stressing about lack of symptoms! 😂 I woke up at 5am busting! 🤣

I'm very jealous of your bath set up 🛀😏 It'll still be at least another 8 months until I can indulge again (or even longer if this doesn't work out! 🔮).

You sound like you've lived 3 lifetimes already! I am in awe of you! 🙌 How did Chelsea get on? I used to go and watch spurs at White Hart Lane with my dad quite a lot in the 90's, but haven't been for years.

I had the weirdest (possible?) symptom last night 🤔 I went to put something in the kitchen bin and the smell from it hit me so badly that it literally made me gag and gag, to the point that I had to leg it to loo in case I was going to be sick 🗑️🤢 This is definitely not normal! We compost and recycle, so the bin is usually pretty tame (DP didn't think it smelt bad 🤷🏻‍♀️). Plus, I worked as a bank hospital domestic whilst I was doing my A-levels/uni, so I've come across some pretty horrendous bins in my time but I've never had a reaction like that! It was really, really weird 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey ladies, I had the best news today, I've been offered a Band 7 post I was on the WL for at the hospital I wanted, lovely physio team and only 15 mins drive from my house, along the coast too. So much nicer than my commute one hour commute in horrendous traffic/ driving and a 45 min train. . . Also means don't have to go back into the Nightingale hospital as will be WFH until my new job. Only have to give 4 weeks notice so once employment checks are done I'm good to go!!! Wooooo 🥳

Bella1984 · 28/04/2021 15:51

I will also now get B7 maternity and it's a FT permanent post so it's a big jump for me financially, at just the right time! Guys I could cry with happiness.

Haha yep I'm a bit of a rocket, classic over ambitious middle child syndrome perhaps paired with 2 parents with high expectations and a previous desire to be as successful as my very rich big sister who is a private chef to the likes of Pharell Williams.and Elton John!

Cannot wait for the Euros but my poor wee Norn Irn won't be in it unless a miracle happens! I'll support Scotland and England by default. Plus the N.I.womens footy team have reached the euros in July for the first time ever. I know them all.from my playing days / physio time so will be following that very closely in the summer.

So @BambiOnIce80 and @Em916yoj both had FET? What about you @PT8998 was yours fresh or frozen? Sorry I should know this, those early conversations were full of too many people!

Am seeing a lot of BFNs in other groups and it would break your heart 💔 I feel so lucky to even be at this stage.

I am a big believer in the law of attraction and ai have a gut feeling this is meant to be for me now, so I hope I'm right!

Hope works OK for you all. I'm so glad to be off and my brain feels better already. I.slept for 7 hours last night with just one toilet break, amazing!

Chat soon

A xx

Hi ladies, sorry I have almost been AWOL! Just been keeping my head down and trying to get through the week to get to OTD... which is tomorrow! Yay! So I am finally at that point now where I am able to relax a little as I have made it this far, then it'll just be the wait to get the viability scan completed!

@Bella1984 that is great news! Congratulations!

How is everyone else? I hope you're all keeping well?!

Em916 · 29/04/2021 13:06

@PT8998 no need to say sorry! How did the test go today???!

Em916 · 29/04/2021 13:16

Congratulations @Bella1984 great news on the promotion and the commute! And on the bath. My new flat doesn’t even have a bath so at least won’t feel too bad I’m missing out ; )

@BambiOnIce80 it was 1996 when Scotland last qualified for the euros so a long time coming!

The other night I couldn’t decide if it was a bad nightmare or real that I was having very bad cramps in the night. Hoping nightmare! I finished my double dose last night so hopefully bleeding doesn’t come back today.

Just waiting on my prescription in the post as need more pessaries. Apparently national shortage of cyclogest but after phoning about 10! found one with stock and 400mg so don’t need to double up for my normal dose : ) I’m sure the alternative is just the same but just want to stick with same brand (I know this is crazy!).

PT8998 · 29/04/2021 18:41

Test went well thank you @Em916! Got a positive digi and called the clinic, my viability scan has been booked for 18th May. So we will see how it goes! Only 19 days to go (and counting) 😂

Em916 · 29/04/2021 21:37

Woo hoo!!! That’s great news @PT8998! How you feeling? Good lucky with the waiting. It’s rubbish : (

I’m looking very bloated. I think from the meds! (I hope!). I stopped doubling up this morning and so far no bleeding. Although My postie never came through for me with my prescription so I’m having to take different medicine from tomorrow : (

PT8998 · 30/04/2021 06:17

@Em916 I feel good thanks (about the process)! I am struggling with crippling fatigue though! I am shattered!! How are you getting on?

I heard about the cyclogest shortage a few weeks back, I can’t believe they’re still short. Is this the meds you’ve had to supplement with something else?

Em916 · 30/04/2021 07:23

Morning @PT8998 sorry you are so tired! I’m definitely more tired but before I didn’t sleep great and been sleeping so much better.

Yeah it was cyclogest and been given utrogestan instead. Hopefully it works just as well (well maybe minus the bloating!)! If not I’ll be getting my cyclogest prescription filled when I’m back on Sunday.

Off to Edinburgh this weekend to move some stuff so will be a good distraction. I am also seeing my sister and wee nephew for first time since Feb last year so really looking forward to that.

Anyone else have any exciting weekend plans?

BambiOnIce80 · 30/04/2021 07:38

I've been on utrogestan for all my cycles @Em916 and it's done what it's supposed to, so hopefully you have nothing to worry about 🤞 I totally get what you mean though - I'd be worried if I suddenly had to go onto cyclogest if there was a shortage of utrogestan when the former had been working for me... the worry never ends, does it?! Hopefully you'll have OK weather up here for the weekend (I don't think you'll need to bring the factor 50 like last weekend though - it's gone chilly 🥶). If you're wandering into Stockbridge when you meet your sister I can heartily recommend Bros bagels for a spot of lunch 🥯 I'm obsessed with their hot smoked salmon one 😋

Excellent news on getting past OTD @PT8998 😊 I hear you on the fatigue 🥱 I'm very glad I've got the long weekend off - are you the same or are you having to work?

How're things going with your week off @Bella1984? Did you manage to do anything nice to celebrate your promotion?

Happy Friday ladies! 🥳🎉🥳🎉

Bella1984 · 30/04/2021 08:00

Hey ladies,

Sounds like a lovely weekend coming up @Em916, enjoy! Meds sounds like a nightmare, are you private or NHS? Sounds v stressful but @BambiOnIce80 had reassured you. I know nothing about it I used Progesterone pessaries (crinone gel) once a day for 10 days, very lucky by the sounds of it compared to you poor ladies!

Feels like you were waiting on your OTD for so long @PT8998, I'm sure you are just delighted. And your first cycle, amazing!

My week has been super busy actually. . .

Bella1984 · 30/04/2021 08:09

Monday & Tuesday were spent back and forth with MH team, consultant and CPN.

Got the job offer Wednesday and literally spent most of yday getting my pre employment checks actual nightmare like you'd think I was joining MI5 FFS! Every course I've ever done, passport, marriage cert, birth cert, all my vaccinations, proof of address, criminal check etc. Good job I'm organised or you'd be screwed! Anyway just a couple of payroll forms to get sorted today and I'm done 🤞

I had some exciting news yday I got a featured extra role for a new show conversations with friends. Gona be streamed on Britbox and in America. Writer of normal people which I loved if any of you saw it? I've been chosen to be an actress alongside the male lead we are in a play Cat on a hot tin roof. I'm playing Mae, the very fertile sister who has 5 kids and another on the way, meant to be! 🤣 have a costume fitting in a few weeks to measure me and then am getting a custom made one just for me! Gone be filmed in our lovely theatre in Belfast. Super safe as have to get covid tests before can even enter building etc. Gona be good money too, will just book.a few days of leave from work. I'm leaving my job anyway! So that's exciting. I'm going to watch the 1958 movie tonight with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman. oh and the male lead is Joe Alwyn who I'm doing the scene with, he's a total babe haha 😍 xx

Em916 · 30/04/2021 10:50

Omg that is so exciting @Bella1984!!! I have read conversations with friends and normal people and they did an amazing job with normal people, I bet it’s going to be amazing!!! And joe alwyn!!! : ) you need to send photos when you do it?!!! (If you’re allowed!).

Em916 · 30/04/2021 10:57

Thanks @Bella1984 good to know ultrogestan works well for you, has made me feel better! Liking the nifty applicator ; ) and thank you so much for lunch recommendation and too!

I’m nhs funded @BambiOnIce80 the clinic are usually great but just one of those things!
