Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

Good luck ladies! This bit is the most annoying isn't it? this time next month you will be celebrating Christmas Day with brand new babies - yay!

bunny2 · 25/11/2004 20:24

hope so libb, the way I feel now, I'll still be pg at Christmas!

gingernut, hope the contractions are real and not bhs. Maybe you'll be one of the few who actually give birth on their due date. Keep us posted!!

gingernut · 25/11/2004 21:10

I'm sure they're just BHs. This happened with ds1 too, about a week before I actually went into labour so it could be ages yet . The pain is bony IYSWIM, very different from the muscular pain of a contraction. They are coming every few minutes though so something is gearing up down there!

Hi libb, yes this bit is frustrating isn't it. ds1 was 6 days late, and it was coming up to Christmas so I was desperate to get him out as I had visions of giving birth on Christmas Day (which it wasn't in the end).

libb · 25/11/2004 21:33

I was 5 days late and the phone calls were the most annoying thing - rather like people posting on "your" thread and getting you all excited for a moment . . . sorry ladies, will leave you all to it. xxxx

gingernut · 26/11/2004 07:07

Hi folks, well I'm in labour! BHs died down when I went to bed but I was woken by contractions at 3 am. I've rung my parents but I'm not sure they're going to make it in time so we may have to leave ds with a friend. Contractions coming quite frequently but not lasting very long at the moment, quite intense though (much more intense than they were at first with ds, and I can really feel the head pressing down). I've got my TENS machine on.

Strangely enough, my labour with ds started at about the same time of day and also on a Friday, but he wasn't born until the Sunday morning. Hope this one arrives a bit quicker!

bunny2 · 26/11/2004 08:35

Good luck today gingernut! very happy for you and also a bit . your baby will be out before Sunday Im sure. Thinking of you.

Bronze .... which of us is next then!!! Pls dont leave me here on my own.

Bronze · 26/11/2004 09:42

Flossam · 26/11/2004 11:43

Good luck Gingernut, I am most impressed, right on schedule! Clever you. Hope you are ok Bunny and Bronze, surely not too much longer left? Really looking forward to hearing from you both with some good news soon. xxxx

Well, we are still at home because the contractions have almost stopped coming, despite going for a walk to see if that would kick-start things. Going to bed for a nap now. May pop in again later, depending on how things go. Maybe this one's going to take 2 days too!!

Bronze · 26/11/2004 16:59

Gingernut, Im sorry i hope things have started again. I didnt reply this earlier as I assumed you wouldnt be around to read it.
Keep us? (nothing from bunny this pm) updated and Bunny let me know if anything happens
B

gingernut · 26/11/2004 17:15

We're heading off to hospital soon - just to get checked out because I've passed lots of bright red bloody mucus. May well come home again, depending on what they say.

bunny2 · 26/11/2004 20:55

hope it is going well gingernut. Look forward to your next post.

I am geting so pissed off with seeing different midwives. The one I saw 2 days ago told me I'd be booked in for induction next Wed, 1st December and that I could have another sweep today. Another mw turned up today and said she wouldnt do a sweep till Sunday and I couldnt be booked in for induciton until 6th Dec. Why do they keep giving me different stories???

Bronze, any news?

sparkler1 · 26/11/2004 21:14

Bunny2 - been thinking of you. Don't forget to let us know how you get on. x PS Sorry to invade the thread

Bronze · 27/11/2004 08:14

I hate the loads of midwives thing as well, luckily my new area is so small theres only two of them. I'm being taken out by my inlaws today so I can do something rather than be at home with ds1 just waiting which has been horrible. Will keep you updated.
Let me know if anything happens

Discomonkfish · 27/11/2004 10:34

Hi there, just to let you know I have had a beautiful baby girl, Elizabeth Grace on Tuesday 23 November. She weighed 6lb 6oz. My waters broke on the Monday and she had opened her bowels inside the womb so I was called straight in to be induced. The syntocin drip wasn't working and I wasn't dilating. The baby started to get distressed so she was delivered by emergency caesarian at 7.32pm the following day. Good luck to all who are left, I'm off to recover for a while!

bunny2 · 27/11/2004 10:37

DiscoMF, congratulations on Elizabeth Grace (lovely names). I figured somwthing had happened as you havent been around for a few days! Well done and ENJOY!

Thanks Sparkler - the pram sits empty for another day!!

Bronze, are you going out alot? I try to get out somewhere every day but this baby is about 8.5 lbs and Im so flipping uncomfortable. We are Xmas shopping today, hopefully that might get things moving.

Any news from gingernut?

Mum2Ela · 27/11/2004 13:05

Well I just popped on here to see who is left and Bunny2, I see you are still here (sorry hun, are you fed up of people saying that?) - I just can't wait for your news.

I have been trying to wean myself off mumsnet (successfully, I should say!) and have even bought a double buggy, which I said I would never do, to take my gorgeous DD and DS out for lots of walks. Have started a circuit traning class too to get back in shape.

Need to say congrats to lots of poeple -

Bronze · 27/11/2004 18:58

Well I've been out all day hence the unusual quietness from me but nothing. Making sure the dog gets walked lots and am seriously aching. According to the midwife this one looks like a ten pounder ouch.
Remember to let me know if anything happens. I so know I'm going to be the last

bunny2 · 27/11/2004 20:02

Hi Mum2Ela, thanks for your message. It gets a bit lonely here now!!

Bronze, looks like its me and you now! I bet mine is bigger and later than yours .

Quackers · 27/11/2004 20:41

Bunny, looking every day to see how you;re getting on. I was last in July, I couldn;t wait to get on with it! Now I look back with such fond memories of the last few days with a baby in my tummy. Sounds cliche but enjoy it. Can;t wait to hear from you!

Bronze · 27/11/2004 20:42

You can have the bigger one if I can be first

gingernut · 28/11/2004 07:36

Hi ladies! Baby still inside I'm afraid! This has to be the longest pre-labour phase ever - it's now taken longer than ds1 did.

Got to hospital on Friday and they were a bit horrified about how much blood I'd passed. Baby was doing fine though so I was happier. But they weren't sure why I was bleeding so much (it was a bit like a period but more mucousy!) so kept me in on the antenatal ward and sent dh home. Yesterday was spent being monitored and walking round the hospital corridors trying to get things going - still no real progress and passing less blood so they decided it was just a show and let me come home.

Still having erratic but pretty painful contractions so I've hardly slept for 3 nights now . Just feeling rather desperate and thinking of going back and pleading for a c/s!

Congratulations to you, Discomonkfish.

M2E (and Luca!), nice to hear from you - sounds like you're enjoying your babies.

Bunny and Bronze - you'll probably go before me at this rate! Good luck.

Bronze · 28/11/2004 08:31

Gingernut I'm sorry thats even crapper than just waiting.I'm glad they dont think theres anything wrong though. I have had no signs of anything so I'm sure you'll be before me. My only gripe now is my trapped nerve which makes me look a bit odd as I cant sit still for more than a minute without my leg spasming very embarrassing in public.
Bunny.. You still here?
B

bunny2 · 28/11/2004 09:21

still here

gingernut, I really thought you were well on the way! Bad luck. It is good to have you back though!!

I had a show this morning - if you can call it that. It was a teeny tiny amount but as Im desperate for ANY signs of labour, I decided it was a show! Im having lots of period-type pains too but I've had htose for a couple of weeks.

Quacks, I nkow I should be enjoying the last few days of calm but I just want this baby out so I can see he/she is ok. I still dont believe it is all going to have a happy ending. Did you feel like that?

Tallgirl · 28/11/2004 10:11

Gingernut!! You are taking your time!! Keep checking my emails for news as dont want to phone - find Mumsnet is the best way to keep up with you!

Glad to hear all OK but was hoping for more exciting news...hang in there it will happen eventually. Presume they wont let you carry on having contractions for ages as you will be so tired that wont be able to push the baby out once the time comes!

Look forward to hearing from you soon!
