Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

Couldnt let ds watch anymore TV and sat with him while we made a fish/octopus mobile and a foto frame out of foam!! Felt very proud of myself and ds was so happy. 'I DO like making things with you, Mummy,' he said. I nearly cried!!

I feel like baby is trying to climb out of me. Was never this PG with ds and the last few weeks are so much harder.

All the best for Monday, Eidsvold. Will be thinking of you. And the rest of us!

bunny2 · 13/11/2004 11:40

We've been busy making stuff too but ds insists on sitting on my lap and there just isnt any room for him now. My parents have taken him out today so I can finsih of the baby's room - if dh ever puts up the shelves I bought weeks ago that is.

eidsvold, I went shopping yesterday and everyone seemed to have an opinion on when the baby would arrive. Just grin and bear it, you only have one more day! Good luck on Monday, is it midnight Sunday night or midnight Monday (I know Im a bit thick)?

Bronze · 13/11/2004 14:36

Yep I'm still here. Freezing my extremely wide ass off and willing this next week to arrive.
DS1s room was plastered today has no carpet which will arive middle of next week as well as being painted a green that I havnt seen and was chosen by the mil grrr, hope i like it. Hes (DS)currently sleeping in the new babies room which has been painted (but also gets its new carpet next week) with all the furniture from both rooms except for the stuff thats on the landing not in the way of anyone apart from the fat lady.I'm off two hours away to my parents tomorrow for a week so may be checking out Luton hospital if its early. Dont know whether i want that or not so keep thinking i wish it would hurry up and oh it better not arrive early alternately.
Ds1 has been watcing far too much tv as well even though my house has been turned over by the mil, feel like such an inadequate wife. He hasnt got a clue whats going on though we keep giving him baby things to look at. One good thing is that he says ahh whenever hes sees a baby and even kisses them on the tv screen, may be a bit different when HIS mummy is looking after the baby.

Good luck everyone

B

Well, my neighbour opposite has gone in tonight to be induced. She was due on 2 November. I've not had any pains, contractions or any twinges as yet...got a feeling it'll be late! Thought I'd be dreading the birth but now I just want little Pip to arrive! DH is getting impatient and has just gone into autopilot taking each day as it comes. Can't wait to see his face when it all starts, I think he'll probably faint! All the best for Monday Eidsvold

eidsvold · 13/11/2004 22:18

collision that would be midnight your time on SUnday night - so when you all wake up on Monday baby eidsvold will be here - BUT I won't be posting until after I get out of hospital. Poor dh will have too much on his hands to do that for me.....

all the best to those who are left and hope it all goes well for each of you

arwenevenstar · 14/11/2004 05:28

Yes all the best Eidsvold, hope I've not missed you.

I'm still here, obviously. Feeling pretty fed up now and like I'm on the count down to destruction (sorry, that should be induction). I am just feeling so deflated cos I had such a nice birth with #2 and now it looks like this one will be all clinical and induced. I still have until Wednesday, which I KNOW is ages, but I haven't had any more twinges or anything and I really feel that cos I am worrying about it, it is what is preventing me relaxing and going into labour.........any suggestions ladies (apart from the obvious which I've tried)

Oh and now the baby is back to back too.....if she'd have come when she was due, she was in the perfect position gggrrrrrr.......anyone get the feeling this one is going to be a minx???

Hope the rest of you "fat birds" are feeling okay, not too fed up or overloaded with aunts and in-laws.

I'll keep checking in good luck

GRMUM · 14/11/2004 06:16

All the best eidsvoid, will look forward to hearing your news. Bet dd is going to love her little brother/sister!

collision · 14/11/2004 11:00

Am on the raspberry leaf tablets, had fresh pineapple last night, persuaded DH into a bit of the other and .............NOTHING! ZILCH! Am going to go for a hot curry because I have had enough now. Not even a twinge.

Hope you are all well.

gingernut · 14/11/2004 12:04

All the best for the section, eidsvold. I will be keeping a lookout for news.

dh and ds have gone out to a birthday party leaving me to do a bit of housework, so I've come on here!! I really didn't feel like dragging my bump to a 3 year old's party.

Went to pick up my TENS machine from Boots yesterday and they have messed up and failed to order it! So I am pretty unimpressed with them . They say it'll only take a few days to come in, but I may not have a few days!!

To cap it all, I have developed an allergic reaction to my support belt and now I have an itchy rash right at the bottom of my bump. Aaargh, it is driving me nuts. Wearing the belt outside my trousers now - very stylish!

Apart from that, all is fine, no twinges or anything though.

Riebee · 14/11/2004 16:05

May have missed you eidsvold but hope all goes well. looking forward to hearing your news.
Hope everyone else is ok and not too fed up....sending you all labour vibes

Discomonkfish · 14/11/2004 22:00

Good luck Eidsvold....look forward to hearing the happy news!! I haven't felt a thing and am getting fed up with people ringing me up every 5 minutes saying 'any news?'. If there was I'd let you know !!! I'm not due till Tuesday anyway....grrrr...rant over

Flossam · 15/11/2004 11:18

Hi there everyone! Sorry no news for those of you waiting. Can't be too long now. I've been away for a while as littel Ben has been in hospital, he had jaundice and spent two nights in under the lamps. Looking much better now, he is feeding more and sleeping slightly less. He's lovely!

Hated being in hospital though. The staff there were truely awful, full of attitude, everything was too much trouble. I was in a side room and didn't see anyone for the whole day on sat! I wasn't able to bathe him, despite me asking several members of staff several times, they never got round to me. He absolutely stunk, bless his heart, I think where the lamps were basically roasting off his cord. Also they said they would feed him at 3, as he was on 3 hrly feeding and they offered at midnight but I pointed out that at 3 I could have 6 hours straight. I expressed the milk and went to sleep. Luckily I woke up at 3, they still hadn't come by half 3 so I did it myself. Then the midwife snapped at me in the morning 'so when was he last fed then?' I should of played dumb and told her when she last did it. Sorry I know this isn't the place for my ramblings and ranting but needed to vent it somewhere! I'm still looking out for you all and looking forward to hearing some more news from you all soon. I promise you it will all be worth it in the end xxx

Goodness, Flossam, that sounds awful! What a cow! When I had ds there were some lovely MW and some truly foul ones! It is such an emotional time they should really be more supportive. So glad you are enjoying Ben and hopefully I will be soon. Curry tonight!!

bunny2 · 15/11/2004 19:45

Flossam, sorry things at the hospital were tough, now you are home you can enjoy getting to know little Ben. My Ben was jaundiced too and it broke my heart because he wanted to be cuddled but I had to leave him under the lamp. It was a really tough start.

Well, eidsvold must be a new mum by now ... who's next?

Quackers · 15/11/2004 21:21

Bunny thanks for your message! Georgina is doing great! I've had to start weaning her at 14 weeks much to my dismay, just too hungry! Health visitor even ok'd it. She;s a lovely baby though. I still don;t believe I have her! Thinking of you!!!xx

gingernut · 15/11/2004 21:37

Ooo, our thread has moved! Took me ages to find it (pg brian!).

Hi Flossam, good to hear from you. Shame you had such a horrible time, I had similar with ds although he never actually got jaundiced but they scared the life out of me saying he would do because he wasn't feeding properly...they said I had to feed him every 2 hours day and night. So much sympathy there. It's good to be back home again isn't it.

I've had a lot of twinges this evening. I think the baby's head is very low - ouch! I remember this happening last time though and it was still ages before I went into labour.

Discomonkfish, why don't you stop answering the phone and let them leave messages...that would wind people up wouldn't it!

bunny2 · 16/11/2004 08:35

Well, looks like Collision is next! Lucky thing is a week early.

Banksia · 16/11/2004 13:04

Hi Gals, this is my first time on Mumsnet. Congrats to all you new mums am envious. Am now 2 days overdue. Am trying everything from raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, hot curry's and sex to get things moving along.

My mum's arrived from Australia 2 weeks ago and we're both just waiting for baby to make an appearance. I know I should be enjoying this time but am so impatient now.

Wish me luck and early labour vibes.

arwenevenstar · 16/11/2004 13:18

Oh Bunny, do you know something then? Has she gone into labour? Lucky, lucky person

I'm still here, bloody miserable, now 10 days overdue and STILL not a dicky bird. I am booked in for tomorrow evening, but am a little reluctant as I really don't want to be hooked up to a drip and immobilised. So, this time on Thursday i may be a mummy again or if I have managed to persuade them to leave me just a few more days to see if it will start spontaneously, then not!
Funny thing is, my first child was born on 22nd, second on 21st, so I kind of think this one may come on Saturday - 20th......just to totally confuse the issue (these are all different months btw )

See you all later

Lua · 16/11/2004 13:46

I am very sorry to board crash! I lurk around every now and then, and am secretly cheering for all of you to have your beautiful babies.
I just want to share what my mw from the US suggested the night before I was to be induced: castor oil.
I took a tablespoon at 9 PM and woke up at 4 am with contractions every two minutes. Baby was in my arms at 1:30 PM. It could, of course, have beeen total coincidence, since I was overdue after all! but some people swear by it!
There should be loads of info in the web, but as it is a laxative I would make sure to talk with my mw before trying. Just tought I would share since I never heard about this trick before mw told me...
Good luck to all!

Discomonkfish · 16/11/2004 17:20

Hi and welcome Banksia, my baby is due today and still no sign....good luck over the next few days, hope it makes an appearance

PandaBear · 16/11/2004 17:24

Hi All - no news from me either, looks like this baby is far too comfortable!! Still I've got an appointment on Thursday to see if they can break my waters, and if they can they'll do it on Thursday night or early Friday morning. If not - I have a c section booked for Friday afternoon so not too long now!!

Can't wait, I'm fed up with it now. Hope everyone else is ok and hope everything went well with Eidsvold.

webmum · 16/11/2004 17:27

hello all

just a quick word to those still waiting, i do hope itll be soon for all of you!
thinking of you all and thoroughly enjoying my second baby, no sign of baby blues yet!!!!!

thanks for all your messages of congrats as well

best of luck !!

bunny2 · 16/11/2004 19:39

Thanks Lua - I have thought about castor oil, I know it is not really recommended but I have heard some very encouraging stories from women who have used it. I'll see how desperate I am past my due date!

Banksia, hi, hope you can graduate from this thread quickly!

Arwen, Colissions waters broke this morning so I can only presume she is at the hospital now. She was ue the day before me - maybe mine will go tomorrow! I hope you get a couple of days grace if you want to avoid induction. I'll be thinking fo you tomorrow.
