Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

gingernut · 17/11/2004 09:26

Good luck for tonight, arwen, whatever you decide to do.

vivie hasn't been on here for a while and she's overdue now I think....

Hello Banksia!

SpringChicken · 17/11/2004 09:49

Oh Girls - stll thinking of you!
Just my opinion on Caster Oil - i bought a bottle out of sheer desperation following a midwife appt (which she suggested), got home, opened the bottle and thought i was going to be voilently sick!!!!

It is the most foul smelling things i have ever smelt in my life - i think i would prefer drinking crisp and dry

babybob · 17/11/2004 13:25

any of you got any advice on what curry is better to start labour how hot does it have to be chinese/indian

arwenevenstar · 17/11/2004 14:31

Indian Vindaloo!!!!!!kidding!!

Not sure how hot really, just think it kind of works as a sort of enema, bit like castor oil, but drink loads of water cos you don't want to be dehydrated too.

I'm off later, I actually had a show this morning, so maybe they will have some good news at the hospital or the prostoglandin will work without the syntocinon drip yay!!! Right now I am sort of resigned to the induction cos I want to meet my baby.

Good luck Collision, can't believe you beat me too it after all that!!

Be back on in a few days time.

Bye!

babybob · 17/11/2004 14:40

thanks and good luck arwenevenstar hope all goes well for you

vivie · 17/11/2004 20:00

Hi All, I'll post this here too. Sorry to knackered to read all the posts...

My son Thomas Edward was born at home last night weighing 8lb 10oz. I had a dream labour lasting less than 5 hours with no drugs or intervention, my new baby is just perfect and I couldn't be happier. Even the bfeeding is going better than I dared hope....

Just feeling very very tired because I've been too elated to sleep at all since the birth... Hope all the rest of you are doing alright. Good luck to you collision. Any news bunny2 or arwen?

bunny2 · 17/11/2004 20:31

vive, what great news. Congratulations on little Edward. I am most impressed at your drug-free birth - obviously made of stronger stuff than I! Well done

Good luck tonight Arwen. Cant wait to see your next post, also eisvold and Collision, really want to read your news too.

Think I might try a vindaloo tomorrow night.

Discomonkfish · 17/11/2004 21:13

Hi all, still waiting, got appointment with midwife tomorrow. Could not sleep last night, was really getting scared about the birth. My neighbour over the road went in on Saturday afternoon to be induced. Haven't seen her come back yet! I'm starting to get really anxious, I hate hospitals and its the fear of the unknown I suppose I'm really excited and can't wait for baby to arrive but soooooo frightened...sorry if I've freaked you all out x

Riebee · 18/11/2004 19:15

hi Banskia

hello Ladies, just checking in to see how you all doing.
Just to let you know, my friends a midwife and she told me not to take castor oil as it can make the baby pass meconium inside, I guess it's because it's a laxative and can get passed through to the baby.Doesn't sound very nice

I'm sure there will be news soon

Ps are you really sure you want your babes out, ds has been feeding every hour, I am a woman on the edge!

bunny2 · 18/11/2004 20:22

Hi Riebee, good to hear from you. I'm not sure why I want this baby out so quickly, I should enjoy the peace and quiet I get while ds is at school. Once the baby is here there will be no more lying around on the sofa watching This Morning.

Saw my mw today - raised bloodpressure, a fat puffy face and protein in my wee so she is going to come and see me on Saturday - I presume if I still have all these signs of possible pre-eclampsia, they might induce me that night. If not I am booked for a sweep on 25th November and at that point will be booked in for induction on 7th Dec - there is NO WAY I am going to keep this baby in till 7th December!!! I cant even bear to think about it.

Quiet here today - are you all in labour???

gingernut · 18/11/2004 22:24

Hi everyone. Congratulations vivie !! I thought you'd gone quiet.

Riebee, I am not at all sure I want this baby out, I really don't feel quite ready for this!

bunny, hope everything turns out OK wrt the signs os pre-eclampsia. You need to take it easy! I hope you're not slouching on that sofa mind, you should be on all fours leaning over a birthing ball y'know!

Still no signs of anything definite happening here.

Bronze · 19/11/2004 00:55

Bunny race you I've got a sweep on the 25th too. Hope it works for both of us

Flossam · 19/11/2004 13:20

HI everyone! Where is Collision? It seems ages ago to me that she posted that things had started! I hope she is ok and will check in soon. Ben is much better, had us up to 2am feeding last night, after a 11pm start! The midwife has discharged him, says he is hardly jaundiced at all now and has put on weight, so I am a bit of a happier mummy now. Evil aunty though has told me he has a big nose. Or Snoz as she puts it. Me and DP don't think he has but it's not very nice to hear such things about my precious little newborn .

Congratulations Vivie, a lovely name, well done! Hope you are Ok bunny, I hope the sweep works for both you and Bronze if nothing before. We are still waiting to hear from eidsvold and arewenevenstar aswell aren't we? Welcome Banksia, hope things start soon for you too! Lot of love x

fresh pineapple too may bring on labour!!

collision · 19/11/2004 15:15

Hi all!!

Just got home from Hospital. Joshua Luca was born on Tuesday 16 November at 1.10pm and weighed 7lbs 7oz. What a fantastic experience it was.

Had a few cramps at about 6am and got up at 6.30 to my waters breaking all over the floor. I told DH who said that I had done well with the timing as it was early morning and he liked to have a good nights sleep! and he was very happy!

Had a shower and the contractions started to kick in. We sorted ds out and went to the hosp for about 9am. As you know I was terrified about the lack of pain relief but I had a fab MW called Alessia and she made me squat down as I was contracting as it helps the head to go down too. I kept walking around for most of the time and then got into the pool. It was there so I thought I might as well try. BLISS! There was no way I was getting out and so Josh was born in water!

3 big pushes and he was out and on my tummy. I bathed him with his cord still attached and it was all very natural and beautiful.

He has lots of black hair and is gorgeous. DS1 loves him to bits and he is BFing really well.

Have been dying to get on the pooter to tell you all and really hope you are all next.

webmum · 19/11/2004 16:09

congratulations collision,

_Im glad everything went well after all, it sounds like you hasd a lovely experience!

congrats to vivie as well!!!

FOR THOSE STILL WAITING, I am sure the sweep did the trick for me, but dh will tell you it was him and his nipple stimulation....

best of luck to everyone!!!!!

bunny2 · 19/11/2004 16:09

Wonderful Collision . He sounds absolutely beautiful and what a lovely birth experience too. I am very impressed and a bit jealous!!! Hugs.

Hi, Still no news from here but the mw has just called and she wants to do my bp again today - maybe they will whisk me in tonight. Had a vindaloo last night but all it did was give me awful heartburn, perhaps I'll try pineapple next (hate the stuff though, yuk). Good luck with your sweep Bronze.

Flossam, your aunt is a witch.

bunny2 · 19/11/2004 16:10

Hi webmum, posts crossed - wont let dh near my prize assets right now so it looks like a sweep is on for me. Did it hurt?

bunny2 · 19/11/2004 19:19

still here - bp up but no protein so now I wait till Monday for another mw visit. The head is quite deep so I am really hoping something might happen soon.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Bronze · 19/11/2004 23:44

bunny dont be too early, dont desert me. My boy of course will be late
B

gingernut · 20/11/2004 00:04

Don't worry Bronze, I'm still here too, and also meant to be having a sweep on the 25th! My last boy was late so fully expecting this one to be too.

Congratulations collision, what a lovely birth story. I dream of a waterbirth but they are threatening monitoring so I don't think it's going to happen. Welcome to your little man.

I've got my TENS machine but my bump is still red and itchy due to the allergy. The rash is spreading all over it. For some reason, I really don't want to give birth with a bright red bump (not bothered about my hairy legs though ).

Flossam · 20/11/2004 11:32

Gingernut, when my labour started had a bath at home and managed to shave all those bits and pieces. The midwives of course were all extremely grateful and noticed my hair free legs.... . Thinking of you all still. x

Ouch, so sweeps all round on the 25th .

Discomonkfish · 20/11/2004 13:46

Congratulations Collision....lovely name as well! I'm still waiting for something to happen....baby was due on 16th and no sign as yet....I've got an appointment at the day care unit next Wednesday...m/w is not sure what they do at the appt because she normally looks after another area but she reckons its just to do a check up and book me in to be induced probably on the Friday.....so worst case scenario is I miss all the decent telly over the weekend next weekend . Good luck to everyone still waiting
