Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

Hi All, Aaaargh - still waiting it's now reached 41 weeks.

"Come on baby - come out now!" Due for my induction on Tuesday but hoping she makes an appearance before then.

Heard clary sage oil helps. So have been having baths with 20 drops. It has helped with bringing on braxton hicks but that's all.

Lots of early ((((((((((labour vibes)))))))) to those that are overdue like me. Please send some back.

I'll let you know how things go.

Thanks for your well wishes.

bunny2 · 21/11/2004 16:15

Good luck for Tuesday Banskia. Hopefully things will happen naturally before then. Keep us posted!

Sorry you are overdue too Disco... it gets so hard at this stage doesnt it? Ds was a week overdue and I was so glad to be induced in the end, I just had to get that baby out of me! I am rapidly reaching that point again now.

Not many of us left now, wonder who will be last.. I have e feeling I'll be on the Decmeber thread!

hana · 21/11/2004 17:24

bunny - I'll prob be on the Jan thread.....anyways, we'd be glad to have you! Someone there had their babe a few weeks ago, so early. Would even things out!

Discomonkfish · 21/11/2004 20:48

Cheers Bunny.....I'm really anxious about the birth but I've really had enough now and want Pip out!

arwenevenstar · 22/11/2004 09:44

I'm back.........along with my gorgeous Isobel.
Born on 18th, weighing 8lb7.
Iwas induced, they ruptured my membranes, put me on syntocinon and 4 hours and 4 pushes later she was born in the pool.
So I did manage to have my waterbirth after all and it was FAB!!!!
will write more later when I have a free hand!!!

Good luck to those still to go

Banksia · 22/11/2004 15:00

Wow - congratulations Arwen. That's such a good induction story. It gives me hope for a good induction tomorrow myself.

Having regular tightening of the abdomen every 15-20 minutes. Not painful just uncomfortable. Don't really know what to make of this - BH or start of labour??? Anyone else have these? Oh, please let it be the start of labour. Fingers crossed. Bouncing like mad on my birthing ball. Just want this baby out now.

PandaBear · 22/11/2004 15:53

Hi All - just got back home from the hospital. DD2 Caitlin Lisa, was born by c section on Friday at 14:45 weighing in at 8lb 4. We are both doing well although I'm sore and she is feeding constantly.

Was a bit of a harrowing experience as I came down with a sick bug on Thursday night and they wanted to do an emergency c section then. They gave me anti sickness drugs and i managed to stave them off until the planned section the following day. We're very happy if a bit tired!

bunny2 · 22/11/2004 16:19

Arwen and Panda Bear huge congratulations to you both on your new babies!! So glad everything went smoothly for you both. What a great day for the November thread!!!

bunny2

the sweep did nmot hurt at all, I was expecting some pain, but it was justa little bit unconfortable.

Good luck with all the sweeps, hope they'll do teh trick!
I'll keep looking for news

gingernut · 23/11/2004 11:52

Congratulations arwen ! So glad you got your waterbirth and it wasn't in your cellar!!

And congratulations to you too, PandaBear . Hope you've recovered from the sickness bug.

I am feeling very fed up because my rash is spreading more and more - now on my wrist and legs as well - and I can't sleep for itching. Have rung the docs and am waiting for a call back. I am feeling desperate as I haven't been able to sleep properly for days due to the itching, and a little worried. I don't think it can be OC, nothing on palms of hands or soles of feet. Just off to do a spot of Googling on the subject though.

My Mum has decided to come down on Friday to stay until baby arrives. This will be great cos I won't have to worry about her getting here in time to look after ds if we have to leave quite quickly, but I'm not sure how long I can cope with my Mum staying, especially when I'm not feeeling my best. Oh well, it won't be for long I suppose!

PotPourri · 23/11/2004 12:25

Hi all. Many congrats on your babies. And I really feel for you that are overdue. Not long now. My due date is 1 December, so I decided rather than torture myself that I would go on the Dec thread and just lurk on this one - it's nice to know you are wondering whether I have had my baby. It's lovely to hear all your great birth stories, and you all sound really contented (if a bit tired).

I'm still hanging in there, no sign of this baby making a move yet, I am fully expecting to be 2 weeks late and now that I have accepted that in my mind, I have found that I am really busy getting things organised - finished for maternity leave just over a week ago. It's amazing how much you can find to do - I thought I would be bored on maternity leave, but I think my days are more packed than when I was working!

Good luck all that are still waiting for their little bundles. They will come soon - ooooooh, I can't wait!

Bronze · 23/11/2004 13:00

congratulations people
no news here
house is finished
fed up of hurting pelvis and trapped nerves
all ready to go

b

bunny2 · 23/11/2004 13:55

fed up here too! Hopefully, my mw will do a sweep tomorrow, she said it depends on whether my bp is down or not. If it is unsuccessful I'll have another one at 41 wks and then be induced at 12 days overdue. Really cant hack another 12 days here so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Good to hear from you PP, I forgot you had migrated to the Dec thread - might see you there!!!

bunny2 · 24/11/2004 08:37

According to my notes, it's my due date today. No signs of anything happening though .

Banskia, hope you are ok. Look forward to hearing from you.

Disco, Bronze, gingernut... any news??? gingernut, hope that rash isnt spreading.

gingernut · 24/11/2004 10:13

Hi bunny, sorry you're feeling so fed up....just remember, the end is in sight however it happens! What time are you seeing the m/w? A friend of mine had a baby on Tuesday a few hours after having a sweep, so hopefully we'll have ours soon too.

I had a bit of pink-tinged discharge this morning (have been having loads of discharge, some quite lumpy, for a couple of weeks now) so I guess that was a slight show. Lots of BHs too, and a feeling that babe is very low in my pelvis.

Managed to get to the docs yesterday. He confirmed that the rash on my tummy is contact dermatitis and he has prescribed a stronger steroid to clear it up quicker, which seems to be working. The rash on my arms and legs is urticaria and he said to keep taking Piriton for that. So I've been a bit more comfortable and had a slightly better night, thank goodness. He says it's often not clear why urticaria occurs, but that it'll probably clear up once I've had the baby. All a bit strange, but nothing serious.

bunny2 · 24/11/2004 10:42

hi gingernut, I had urticaria when I got pg this time - all over my arms and legs. It disappeared after a few days. Strange eh? Glad to hear yo are feeling more comfortable.

Dont know what time Im seeing the mw, she will ring beforehand. I jsut want to get on now, it is such an anitclimax when you reach the due date and nothing happens.

Bronze · 24/11/2004 11:37

nothing from me either, had a sweep earlier so we'll see
hes fully engaged and im 2-3cm but that means naff all notbeing my first
good luck people
B

bunny2 · 24/11/2004 15:08

I've had my sweep too Bronze - it wasnt painful but bloody hurts now!!! I have had loads of BHs and period-type pains so hopefully it may develop into labour. They will induce me next Wednesday if nothing has happend by then. Good luck and let us know if anything happens.

gingernut · 25/11/2004 15:04

Where is everyone? Am I the only one left? Hope so for your sakes but also hope this one gets moving soon. Just seen the m/w and everything is fine, head is very low and baby doesn't feel like a whopper she says. She tried to do sweep but I was climbing the walls (I am a wimp with internals) cos she couldn't reach my cervix (she said it was `hiding round the back'). Had another show this morning though and the m/w reckons I'll go into labour in the next few days.

My urticaria is getting worse and I've discovered it may be a known condition called PUPPP which is basically pregnancy-related urticaria which typically occurs after 34 weeks and is thought to be due to foetal cells entering the mother's skin and causing an allergic reaction. It usually clears up within hours of the delivery, but it looks like I am stuck with it until the baby arrives (thank goodness it didn't start earlier!). Dermatitis has cleared up now though.

Bronze · 25/11/2004 15:21

nothing here still. Just a few more aches than normal
though today hasnt seemed to bad as we had a very good offer on our old house and our desperate money situation is now going to be so much better
gingernut mine does feel like another whopper according to the midwife ds1 was 9lb14 so a bit worried cos im not huge
b

gingernut · 25/11/2004 15:30

Hi Bronze! Well, great news about the house at least.

How did your labour with your ds1 go then? The reason for all the concern about the size of this one is because mine with ds1 was so difficult (more than 48 hours, culminating in a very tricky ventouse. They offered me a c/s this time but I'd like to try and avoid that). Anyway, according to notes head is 2/5 engaged (that means she can feel 2/5 above pelvic rim I think?) which is an advance on ds1, whose head never really engaged properly (hence the very slow labour).

bunny2 · 25/11/2004 19:30

Im still here too!!! Loads of BHs yesterday but sod all today. I took ds swimming this afternoon, thought it might loosen things up but not so far. The mw did say she would do another sweep tomorrow so that's something to look forward too .

Bronze, my ds was 9.5 but I dont think this one will be quite so big (hopefully).

Is it just the 3 of us left now ?

gingernut · 25/11/2004 19:46

Hi Bunny, glad I still have you and Bronze for company. I was on the verge of heading off to the Dec. thread earlier! I'm getting loads of BHs this evening. Very uncomfortable because they are pushing baby's head into my pelvis - ouch!
