Can't believe it. Just got my BFP today and by my reckoning baby should be due 1st July.
Is there anyone else out there?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
expatinscotland · 20/11/2007 15:32

yes, i thought so, too, ppb, but - touch wood- no one else got it but me.

normally, we catch everything from the girls.

i just want someone to help me feel better again.

i feel so weak and my abdomen is so sore and crampy.

those chills yesterday were horrible.

paulaplumpbottom · 20/11/2007 15:38

I was the only one in my house to get it to and it is horrible. The good news is that it only lasted 48 hours. Keep up the fluids and religiously wash your hands.

sweetkitty · 20/11/2007 15:42

oh no expat I really hope it's just a nasty bug and not listeriosis (in a former life I was a food microbiologist so a Listeria expert - how sad am I?) anyway it's nasty but very rare and rarer still for it to infect the baby. Chances are it's more likely not to be Listeria than it is to be IYSWIM. Will keep everything crossed for you, hope the diarrhoea stops and you get to see a nice picture of the bean x

shrooms - hello and congratulations

Minnie - I know what you mean MEN eh? DP says the "I'm feeling rough" loses it's impact after a while you have 2 LOs to look after and it's not easy when you are hitting a brick wall of tiredness and feel like heaving every 2 minutes. Take it easy remember the housework will still be there in a few weeks.

Mcchesers - good luck with the scan, by town I take it you mean Glasgow? Try the Gourmet Jelly Beans in John Lewis best Jelly Beans in the world.

Well I phoned the EPAS today and have a scan booked for Thursday morning will be 8 weeks exactly so hopefully all will be well and there will be a little heartbeat, just hope DP is able to get day off work, he has started a new job, same company just different job and is working v hard just now as it's a promotion and he wants to start well. Also good as it has ended our money worries especially with another baby coming along

Oh was talking to another mum at nursery who has a DD and DS and I just happened to say about me being pregnant (I'm rubbish at keeping secrets) anyway she was really said I was mad and was it planned? When I said "oh yes" she said "oh you desperate for a boy then?" erm no I always wanted 3 children don't give a toss what it's got between it's legs. Suppose I better get used to it trying to come up with witty replies.

sfxmum · 20/11/2007 15:52

expat I hope you feel better soon, it is really rough especially because it makes you so weak

SK - I imagine there will be lot's of 'oh I expect you want a boy now to complete the family'never understood that one.
btw are you in the anti sterilization camp?

luckily dh is very supportive and understanding so one less thing to stress me out.
last time I was working and found it easier to keep my mind off things.

sfxmum · 20/11/2007 15:54

SK should make it clear I mean of baby equipment not fertility wise seeing as microbiologist that is

sweetkitty · 20/11/2007 16:06

sfxmum - lol at anti-sterilisation, no I don't mind who gets their tubes tied. I bought a bottle steriliser with DD1 as it was my first baby and you feel you ought to buy everything, used it a few times only, with DD2 never sterilised anything, hot soapy water a good scrub, then put in the dishwasher did us. I do understand the blanket sterilise everything though the recommendations are only trying to protect babies whose parents might not be as thorough with the bottle washing as most.

cass66 · 20/11/2007 19:02

interesting about the sterilising issue. I thought I was alone not being absolutely fastidious about sterilising etc. mind you my house is not pristine and tidy or clean, and my girls are very healthy. I certainly think there is something in not being too clean!

I also worry about the 'do you want a boy this time' attitude. I knew someone who had 5 boys and some people were really out of order with her, saying nevermind, you must be very disappointed, will you try for a girl next time etc. happy and healthy will do us. (but we do have a house of pink things!).

sfxmum · 20/11/2007 20:45

in a previous life I had a lot of contact with infection control nurses and used to be responsible for good practice in that area where I worked so I pretty much follow that, good hygiene practices take care not to cross contaminate don't go overboard.

cass my house is very much like you describe yours and dd gets very dirty playing outdoors, dirt is goodfunny no matter how hard you try the pink and fluffy rears it's head at some point

given my diplomatic skills I think talk of 'I bet you want a boy now' will be met with a well placed kick, can always blame the hormones

outinthesticksmummy · 20/11/2007 21:06

hello, does anyone mind if i join you??

Am currently 5wks 5 days pregnant, this hopefully will be our 2nd baby/ies, DD born after 4th ivf attempt, this preganacy is our 6th attempt. Have a scan booked for the 30th to see how many heartbeats we have in there (if any). Have done about 8 tests and had my HCG tested last Friday which came back 5373 day 17.

Am feeling vvvv nervous about the whole thing and would very much like to join in some friendly banter to pass the time!!

lol

Verso · 20/11/2007 21:22

Hi there outinthesticks - and congratulations!

expat - I hope it's not listeriosis. It sounds horrible, whatever it is, so I hope they can make you a bit more comfortable.

sweetkitty - I think it was you that mentioned sour things? Snap! I found myself buying grapefruit marmalade on Saturday because I thought it might be a little bit more bitter than the usual stuff . With DD it was all sherbet lemons etc. At the weekend I went out for dinner and had a really sour/bitter lemon and basil sorbet. Oh-my-God (said in Janice-from-Friends voice). Yummy!

sweetkitty · 20/11/2007 22:09

hello out outinthesticksmummy - what a hard journey you have had to get pregnant, congratulations, so you have an inkling it may be twins is that from the HCG levels?

verso - yes it's me thats into sour things only had some OJ today though

expat - hope your doing OK x

sfxmum - I also get threatened with the what if it's twins??? I reply oh I should be so lucky twins would be fantastic that usually shuts them up fast.

shrooms · 20/11/2007 23:48

Heya tis me the newbie!! I was wandering if anyone fancies doing a bit of name suggestions for boy or girl. I have an Evan Lewis and Holly Faye. For boy I am thinking maybe David but don't know really. For girl I am a bit stuck - like the name Elise or Eilish but hmmm What do you think would sound nice...

sandcastles · 21/11/2007 05:23

Hello, how is everyone?

I have seen my dr & I am aneamic already! Great! I was with dd, but not until the final couple of months. So I am on Iron tabs for that.

I am also Vit D deficient. I live in Oz, how is that possible...but the pharmacist said that due to us all using sunscreen alot nothing gets through! And as I am as pale as anything I have to put it on almost everyday. So it is a tab for that too. She also said that I should be in the daylight for at least 30 mins a day, which I will do.

So I am popping 3 pills a day.

She has refered me off to the hospital & it looks like I'll be high risk due to the Pre Eclampsia & crash c-section last time. This means that I will be seen at the hospital for ALL my appointments. And will see consultants as well as midwives, possibly every 2 weeks too. This is going to be fun...

No real MS to report. I had a major 'bout' kick in in the supermarket yest'day...which was just lovely! The tiredness & back ache are the worst at the moment!

outinthesticksmummy · 21/11/2007 06:38

May be twins, but only because we had 2 embryos put back in at a very advanced stage, its a new technique, they put them in just before they hatch. Obviously much higher chance of twins.

Sandcastles - lucky you living in all that sunshine, i'm on loads of meds still, great isn't it when you feel rough!

Getting loads of twinges in my tummy, must be a bit of stretching going on, and beginning to feel thatm/s may not be too far off!!

off to work today, so best get pack ups done, need to go armed with loads of carbs to get through the day

sandcastles · 21/11/2007 06:48

outinthesticks....I wonder what it will be like when we hit the high 30's here? Not looking forward to that!

outinthesticksmummy · 21/11/2007 08:37

arrrgh!!!! just been to the loo and got bright red watery blood!! just going to phone Early preg unit see if they will scan me, what do you think? am only 1 day off 6wks, should see something by now. Have been retching this am urgh!!!!!! so scared!!

baby3 · 21/11/2007 09:04

hi out in the sticks, yes phone them.... they should see something on a TV scan, if not at least they can take some bloods to see how your hormones are doing, something to give you some reassurance. Thinking of you

sfxmum · 21/11/2007 09:23

outinthesticks welcome and thinking of you such an amazing journey, hope all is well do let us know

sandcastles how annoying to need tables this early, I don't do well in hot weather so don't envy you at this point.

hello everyone else I hope you are well

sandcastles · 21/11/2007 09:56

sfxmum yes very annoying, but I'd rather that than anything else, to be honest.

Not too warm today, and I am pleased that I won't be heavily pg in summer so hopefully I won't be to uncomfortable.

sfxmum · 21/11/2007 10:09

good point sandcastles last time I had an early june baby and it was awful going to work in a crowded damp stuffy bus with MS, I had to flee several times.
we got a heat wave just after dd was born which was ok some of my antenatal thread really suffered with the heat

CharlesandEddie · 21/11/2007 11:20

Twinkle

expatinscotland · 21/11/2007 13:23

well, not good news here.

i didn't get to hospital last night as tehy wanted me to go through A&E, and it was too late at night to risk that and then possibly miss the last ferry back.

i'm spotting now, however.

not quite sure what to do.

guess i'll just see how it goes.

it takes a little over an hour and a half to get to that hospital in paisley.

the GP surgery is useless.

think i'll go for a shower.

feb · 21/11/2007 13:30

expat am so sorry i can't imagine how awful you are feeling right now.
I would go to hospital asap if i were you, but try not to think the worst, some spotting can be normal.
am crossing all digits for you and outinthesticks
xx
