@TheGlitterFairy am 41 now.. ;)

Haven't thought about what to get re baby stuff. Will wait till after the 20 week scan.

ekam · 24/03/2021 18:11

@ChicaXS congrats on the scan and your baby boy!! How exciting.

@Leala20 welcome to the thread and congratulations.

@TheGlitterFairy It sounds like you have everything thought out and planned out and everything makes so much sense. Re: preparing for the baby, I've started looking at pram/carseat and it's a maze out there. We have 2 dogs that go everywhere with us so we can't afford space for a big pram, but then we go on quite alot of country walks so do need something sturdy. It seems like a tricky combination. ...the search continues... Crib wise, are you thinking about a next to bed one first or a seperate crib? I can't seem to decide.

I finally get my blood test results and it looks like I am anaemic + have high white cell counts although I don't seem to have any infection. It's getting worse everyday, I can't even walk round the block without stopping ... so now I'm on iron tablets. Really hope it'll get sorted soon otherwise I am pretty much house bound. I already miss my daily walks and now with lock down relaxing, I'm panic about not being able to go to the country side or enjoy the outdoors.

Hope everything else is doing ok :)

MF1981 · 24/03/2021 18:23

Ladies I really need some reassurance - when does this nausea end?! It’s relentless! I had hoped that once I came off the ivf meds it would get a bit better but it’s getting to the point now where I just don’t fancy eating anything at all. Heartburn from about now until bedtime is a killer as well.

TheGlitterFairy · 24/03/2021 19:28

@MF1981 A friend recommended gaviscon for heartburn when she was pg with twins - said it was the only thing that worked for her.

SpyroC · 24/03/2021 20:56

@MF1981 i got to the second trimester and was so annoyed it was still there! I'd say it settled at around 16 weeks and was much better at 20 weeks. My diet is still far from normal though. 🙈 Im still on the Gaviscon on too 😂.

I'll catch up properly when I'm less tired. Work is just crazy at the moment. 🤪 x

tikha · 24/03/2021 21:18

@MF1981 have you spoken to gp about this. I got some meds from my gp when I needed. I wouldn't have believed it but things started improving around 12-13 weeks

sazzt · 24/03/2021 22:02

Re cribs: I've picked up a tutti bambini cozee for first 6 months. It can be used as a next to me type crib, though I don't think we will use it like that as not enough space!

Prams I have booked an appointment at a local baby shop once stores open so hopefully we can try some out! Priorities are something that will fit in our small-ish boot and in the house (narrow hallway), then sturdy enough for a lot of walking but mostly in urban areas. I've been looking at the Oyster3 online, keen to see it in person though and also anything else that fits the bill!

@tikha what to buy and when was overwhelming me last weekend. It's exciting and confusing at the same time, like most things in pregnancy seem to be! My usual bras became uncomfortable early on so I am now almost always in nursing bras. I have had a few baby clothes delivered this week 💗

@sazzt I'm the opposite, I ordered the 12ft by mistake 🙈😂. I don't like sleeping in it yet (my bump is still tiny though) I'm thinking it will be too big when nursing. I ordered 2 pairs of cheap mat jeggings from Bohoo as recommended by a friend. I always wear them but I don't fill them at all 😂 they're just super comfy! I'm still in my usual work trousers as they were baggy to begin with due to my endo.

@TheGlitterFairy the pushchairs and car seats confuse me so much🤪. All my friends seem to recommend different things as do guides online. I do like the funky prints on the cosatto ones though but don't think they are the best for me. I don't think I'll get much use out of a travel system as they can only stay in the care seat for 30 minutes for ages (I think). I'll be doing more research this weekend. At least we can go try some soon although there doesn't seem to be any good shops by me. I have a good relationship with my midwife too. I don't think I'll fuss about changing consultants as from what I've heard it's not uncommon to not see your named consultant again and apparently the consultant part only comes in to play if something goes wrong. My next appointment is 24w with my midwife and then first growth scan is at 28w. My growth scans will apparently be followed up with a consultant call.

Welcome @Leala20 and congratulations! I've added you to the list.

@ekam I noticed all the off-road walking ones are big and heavy too! But I think I'll walk more locally (off road) than I will go in the car alone with her. @TheGlitterFairy @ekam I have brought a close friends Chico next to me and just need to buy a new mattress. Not sure if I'll need a moses for downstairs though??? Think I'll just see how it goes.

@ekam that sounds tough. The iron tablets did improve my energy levels pretty quickly but they also made me sick so I changed to Spatone for the morning tablet.

@ekam any improvement on the nausea front? X

Hello ladies, and welcome @Leala20 👋 lovely to hear you're having a girl and are starting to feel her move!

Hope everyone is doing okay. Congrats @ChicaXS on the 💙 news!

@MF1981 I had relentless nausea too and was being sick some evenings. Similarly got to a point where eating anything was wholly unenjoyable! Mine started improving around 13 weeks and I would say I felt more normal by 16-17 weeks. It is hideous, you have my sympathies. It will end, you just have to ride it through unfortunately Your GP may be able to suggest some meds, as tikha says.

I haven't really started looking at anything yet in terms of baby stuff. We are planning to get everything sorted by 34 weeks just in case but I think we'll look a bit nearer the time. It's all such a minefield so will follow what you are all getting with interest!

We had our 20 week scan on Wed. All looks good, measuring very large (😬), and we're joining the girl club! 💗

SpyroC · 28/03/2021 11:41

Yay for the 20 week scan @MGee123 🥰💗💗. That is the point when I started to feel more excited.

I've seen nct courses starting in early June have been changed to online. Mine is mid June so not looking good 😬. It seems a bit premature to be making that decision.

@McGee congrats on your little girl and getting over the 20 week scan hurdle 😊 my LO was also measuring big at my scan and I'm huge now at 25 weeks so starting to worry a bit about GD given how much rubbish I've been eating 😳

@SpyroC you have me a week behind on your list - I'm 25 weeks today.

MGee123 · 28/03/2021 16:11

Oh really @SpyroC ? I haven't had a notification about ours yet. Ours is late June so hoping it will be in person. I agree, seems v early to be making that decision.

ivfjourney5 · 02/04/2021 07:03

Hi ladies, nice to hear everyone's doing well!

@TheGlitterFairy amazing you are still managing in most of your normal clothes! I got a huge haul of maternity clothes the other day, I think I'm now fully kitted out. Prams are an absolute minefield aren't, I'm thinking about waiting until the 12th so I can go and test some out properly

@Leala20 welcome and congrats on the little girl 🎉

@ekam I really hope the iron tablets have started to kick in for you!

@MF1981 how's the nausea now? Hopefully you've got a bit of relief now, if not definitely speak to you gp. I got put on anti-sickness meds (for nausea) from 6 weeks and I think I weaned off then about 13/14 weeks. It's such a horrible feeling but just keep thinking about the end goal to get you through the days

@SpyroC thanks for keeping up with the list, it's so helpful, especially when I'm so forgetful nowadays 😂

@MGee123 lovely to hear your scan went well, and congrats on the little girl 🌸

Update from me, I had my 20 week scan on Wednesday, baby is still a little girl but she's a stubborn little thing (takes after me 🤣) and it took a while to get all the measurements, but everything was looking good! My husband is finally home soon after working offshore for the last 3 months, so we will finally be doing an announcement and telling people outside our immediate families 🎉🎉 I wouldn't have been able to hide my stomach much longer either 😂 I've got my first consultant appointment next week, so hopefully I'll find out more about growth scans etc.

Happy bank holiday week everyone x

ivfjourney5 · 02/04/2021 07:05

*bank holiday weekend
(Wishful thinking that it's a week 😂)

tikha · 03/04/2021 13:03

@ivfjourney5 where did you get your maternity clothes from. I am still wearing my old clothes but they jeans are starting to be tight. I have invested in a pillow from asda and maternity bras. congratulation on your scan
@MF1981 how are you feeling? nausea improving?
@sazzt I think I might wait till lockdown finishes to look at crib and pram as well. I was thinking of the giggle3 or the kinderkraft xmoov. Why are some prams so expensive?
@MGee123 @SpyroC am thinking of signing up for NCT but not sure if its worth it if its online?
@ekam hope you are feeling better with the iron tablets
@TheGlitterFairy @ChicaXS hope you are doing well
@Leala20 how is it going?

I had my 20 week scan last Tuesday and it went well.. had a discussion with the consultant about induction/c-section and she said she would support me in whatever decision I would make and will rediscuss at 32 weeks. Will have an inperson midwife appointment at 25 weeks..@SamoyedFan123 how was your 25 week appointment. Does the midwife check your fundal height and listen with a doppler?

Need to sort out paper work and remember to hand the matb1 form.

I have signed up for some free courses at babyacademy and they were pretty good.

MF1981 · 03/04/2021 13:16

Hey guys. Today is a bad day - haven’t even got dressed. The fatigue and nausea don’t seem to be getting any better and today I have a terrible headache too. Got really upset on DP yesterday as I just don’t know how long I can cope with feeling like this. I have an appt with the consultant on Wednesday when I go for my scan so will speak to them about it.

tikha · 03/04/2021 13:26

@MF1981 regular anti-emetics (anti sickness) could help to break the cycle. I called 111 and got them prescribed. It might be that you are dehydrated if you are not keeping anything down leading to headaches. Really sorry to hear about this and hope you get some help as it can feel very lonely when you are in the middle if it at all. I am sure DP is just worried and didn't mind you getting upset.

tikha · 03/04/2021 13:30

@MF1981 if one antisickness doesn't work after taking them regularly then you might have to switch to another until you find the one that works for you.

SamoyedFan123 · 03/04/2021 15:24

@tikha glad that your 20 weeks scan went well - you can breathe a sigh of relief after that one! H&M are quite good for reasonably priced maternity clothes.

I've had a bit of a nightmare this week tbh 25 week appointment was ok - they do use a doppler to listen in but told me that don't measure FH now until 28 weeks. When she asked about movement s and I told her that I still barely feel any she was worried and sent me for an urgent scan that same day. Scan was fine but showed that baby is measuring massive, 2 weeks ahead. So then I had to get an urgent GD test done which has come back clear so apparently he's just going to be huge 😳 because I'm not really feeling movements they told me I just have to keep ringing and going in to be monitored every day if necessary which is completely impossible with twin toddlers to look after! Anyway last night i had held nothing at all all day again, and had some nasty pains too so I called up abd got sent to maternity ward for monitoring where they were unable to find a HB with the dopplers. Cue being rushed into a private room to wait for an emergency scan with a consultant so it was terrifying. Scan got done and was absolutely fine so seems that my chunky monkey just wanted to cause trouble and hide from the dopplers but it was such a stressful experience! Now it's yet another day with no movements and I really dont want to call to again and go through all that again!

Hope everyone else is doing better than me atm?!

BonTon · 04/04/2021 08:39

Hi everyone... it’s been ages so just catching up!

@SamoyedFan123 that sounds horribly stressful, I’m sorry. Sure you have tried everything to encourage him to move about but I’ve read about shining a light on your tummy, having a cold drink or eating something sweet and lying quite still.. thought I’d mention it just in case! Sorry for all the stress but at least it sounds like he’s fine in there 💙

@ivfjourney5 great news on your scan 🥰🥰🥰 and that your husband is back... you must have missed him! Incredible will power being able to wait to 20 weeks to tell people!

@MF1981 eurgh it really is awful, although my nausea doesn’t sound anywhere near as bad as yours. If you’re nearly at your dating scan, I guess the only thing to concentrate on is you’re hopefully nearly there! Over halfway through the nausea 🙏🤞🏻 Hope they can help you on Wednesday. My nausea had completely gone by 17 weeks and got much better from about 14 if that’s any help.

@tikha I’ve got some nice stuff from ASOS maternity which wasn’t expensive and H&M is good as someone else said. New look too.

@MGee123 congrats on your girl too! 💖

@ekam sorry to read about your anaemia ... have the iron tablets helped your energy levels?

Hello 👋 @Leala20!

Hope you’re doing well @TheGlitterFairy and @SpyroC! Congrats on your little boy @ChicaXS ... can’t believe most people are over halfway now!

Not much to report from me other than the spotting has finally stopped. I’ve been feeling little flutters for the past few days.
I’m 19+4 today and looking forward to my scan a week tomorrow.

Happy Easter everyone 🐣🐣

SpyroC · 04/04/2021 10:09

@SamoyedFan123 oh poor you that must've been awful. When I went in they did find the heart beat straight away via Doppler so I can only imagine how scary it must've been when they couldn't. It did take seemingly ages at my 16w check up. Apparently it's the positions they get in to. I'm so glad everything was ok in the end. I have seen people be told their baby is big/small at this point and then things even up. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 that is the case for you. Did you go back in the end on the second day? I'm 24w tomorrow and I'm all of a sudden supposed to notice a pattern 🤔🤔🤔 I have my 25w check up a week early on Tuesday so I'll ask the midwife more about this.

@tikha @MGee123 it says on the NCT website that it's under continual review. Up to early June is now online. Mine starts in mid June so we will be under the next review. I'll be annoyed if it's moved to online as it seems very premature. For me @tikha it will still be worth it as I'm pretty clueless about newborn care so talking to others in the same busy will be welcome. Plus I want some local maternity mates 😂. We get a partial refund if it goes online.

@ivfjourney5 glad I'm not alone with the memory loss! 🙈🙈🙈 I sometimes wander if people think I'm using it as an excuse 😂 my bump has grown more in the last couple of weeks but it does still look like weight gain unless I put a tight top on. Great news on your scan 💗 and DH returning 😊. Where will you go to test pushchairs? Doesn't seem to be much by my me plus the ones I want to test are sold by different people 🤪 I'm thinking I need to not overthink it!

MF1981 · 04/04/2021 10:12

Thanks guys. And it’s great to hear everyone else’s stories. I’m finding it really tough at the moment but I know you guys will get this being IVF-ers - I just feel so guilty. We paid for this pregnancy and went through a lot to get here so I feel like I should be soldiering on and enjoying it all but actually I feel dreadful and it’s really getting me down.

SpyroC · 04/04/2021 10:17

@tikha Ive been wary of free courses as Ive heard they end up being more like a sales pitch so it's good to hear you found different. Great news on the scan 😊

@MF1981 I hope you are feeling better I do remember feeling really down before 16 weeks because of the sickness. I remember I even said if it didn't end soon that I didn't think I would want to try for a 2nd! At 23w things are much better so I really do hope you start to see some improvements. I know the meds helped others on here to feel more human again too. Xx

@BonTon glad to hear the spotting has stopped. As if it's persisted for so long! Hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will be uneventful! I hope the scan goes well xx

That was a big one! Sorry if I've missed anything...it's been a busy week. Xx
