A place for those of us finally moving on from the infertility boards to share feelings, questions, tmi and to generally support each other.

Glad to hear it all went well @ivfjourney5 it's such a lovely moment 💗. That's interesting, must be growing well! I can't take their due date adjustments seriously as when we've had ivf we know exactly how old baby is. I don't get why they do t just use the ivf dates and then measure against that (sine trusts do apparently) . I have heard of peoples dates being put forward and back at the 20w scan so I wonder if there's still a degree of inaccuracy earlier on.

Hi ladies, sorry I've been rubbish at keeping up with the thread lately! Glad to see that you're all doing well, and scans are all good so far!
@SpyroC the dates thing is weird isn't it? Last time I got moved forward 4 days from IVF dates and this time put back 1 day. NHS here insist on using their own dates.

I've had a private scan this morning and found out that we are having a little boy! 💙 They did a 4D sneak peek - freaky pic of weird little alien baby attached!

Congratulations @SamoyedFan123 💙 I think you are the first one to find out the gender! How exciting. I think I'll struggle to resist an early scan 😂.

Hi everyone!

I'm missing all of your updates. How are you all feeling? We must have some more dating scans coming up?

@TheGlitterFairy are you showing yet? My bump is tiny, so tiny it could even be carbs. 😂🙈The sickness is improving which I'm glad of but I'm starting to feel less pregnant now which I'm not liking.

I have my first consultant appointment and a mid wife check next week. I can't wait to (hopefully) hear babies heartbeat again.

I hope you are all well xx

Hi @SpyroC !

Sorry I’ve been MIA so much on at the moment and the pregnancy is up and down! All is well - 14 weeks now. I had my scan amd all is healthy just awaiting my blood results. I went private (NHS has been useless on my bleeds unfortunately) and was diagnosed with a subchronic hemotoma! I feel better now I know the cause! So I’m taking it easy. I’m transferring hospitals as I move boroughs next week and hope my new hospital will be better. My current one has been dismissive and my next appt is on the 17th March even though they said I will be consultant led! Go figure!

To top it off I have had borderline HG! I never got fluids from hospital but I’ve been vomiting 3-4 a day. It’s much better now with just one vomit a day and I learnt tropical juice is a cure.

It’s been a long journey and it’s only beginning!!! 🤣

I’m so glad your doing well and the girls xx

ivfjourney5 · 05/02/2021 18:45

@SpyroC I had my dating scan yesterday and my due date has been brought forward 4 days. I'm in mixed minds about them changing the date, I was partly expecting it following on from baby being ahead at the private scan, but obviously we have exact dates from transfer. It's something for me to think about if they don't want me to go overdue on my new due date 🤔 I've booked myself a private scan at 16 weeks to hopefully find out the gender, I admire you for trying to hold out booking a private one!

@ChicaXS good to hear from you, sorry you're having a rough ride 😔 Really hoping the new hospital is better for you!!

ChicaXS · 05/02/2021 19:16

@ivfjourney5 so lovely to hear from you too! So glad your pregnancy is going well! I wouldn’t worry about your EDD changing! It is strange as the NHS trust I’m using was insistent that the transfer date was correct and will determine my EDD regardless of my measurements! My sonographer mentioned that ivf babies go through growth spurts more often at different stages of pregnancies so they will always take into account the ivf transfer date. Also when the baby wants to come - they will :) I measured ahead on my 7 week scan by 3 days and on my dating scan I measured 2 days behind! They never changed my EDD! So try and relax.
Happy your doing a 16 week scan - I think I’ll want to know on my 20 week scan xxx

SpyroC · 05/02/2021 20:33

It's good to hear from you @ChicaXS ! I was wandering where you'd gone. I'm sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it but pleased baby is ok! It's annoying they missed the SCH as knowing that could have relieved a lot of anxiety. I agree that the care you've had hasn't been the best so hopefully the new trust will be better. My care has been good so far 🤞🏻hopefully the sickness will start to ease up soon. Week 15 has seen a noticeable improvement for me though it's still there. My peak was 2x a day being sick but always triggered by brushing teeth!

@ChicaXS @ivfjourney5 I wish all trust would just use the ivf dates. You literally cannot get a more accurate way. At least your trust are up to date on that part @ChicaXS ! I thought the same about them not wanting me to go past my due date but haven't worried too much as it was just 1 day and later. I'm impressed I've resisted a scan too 😂 tbh it's partly driven by my fear of covid 🙈. I will be happy with hearing the heartbeat next week.

I think I'm going to sign up for NCT this weekend as one course is showing as 4 spaces left. I know it's probs fine to leave it a bit but doing the odd baby related thing for the future makes me feel good! I got a birth ball (chiro recommended for my back) last weekend and will pick up a pregnancy pillow TMZ...love it 😂

OP posts:
Mackie2020 · 06/02/2021 08:19

Thought I'd drop in with a little update too. I'm now 23 weeks. All was fine at my 20 week scan, and we didn't find out the sex as we wanted a surprise! Had a very quick chat with the consultant by phone after the scan. She didn't seem to think that either the IVF or OHSS will impact on my birth plan. She didn't say I wouldn't be allowed to go over my due date but did say we could talk about induction if I was very anxious about it.

Re dates - baby was measuring differently at my early scans, and I was then dated 4 days ahead at my dating scan so that did change my IVF date slightly. But as it brought it forward I'm not worried about it. Hopefully baby will arrive when s/he is ready and it will all go smoothly!

I've been having lots of lovely kicks and can even see my tummy move sometimes. It's so reassuring.

I have been suffering with PGP though, from about 18 weeks. I haven't felt particularly supported by the midwives on that (it was really hard to try to contact one by phone) so I think I'm going to push for a physio appointment.

I can't say the anxiety has gone completely but I do think it's lessening as time goes on. No doubt it will ramp up again as I get closer to term!

BonTon · 06/02/2021 09:07

Morning all! So nice to hear from everyone...

@Mackie2020 ... 23 weeks wowee ! Must be so nice to feel the kicks, as you say, v reassuring.

@SpyroC glad you’re feeling a bit better. You’ve had a rough time of it with the sickness... my nausea is still fairly constant at 11 and a half weeks but hoping it will start to ease off soon. Didn’t realise NCT would fill up so fast, as I’m keen to do it... are they planning for it all to be online atm?

Gosh poor you @ChicaXS ! Have you told work now so at least you can take it a bit more easy? Which London borough are you in / moving to out of interest? We’re at the Whittington near Highgate...

@SamoyedFan123.. congrats on your little boy!

@ivfjourney5 so pleased your scan went well ☺️ and good news that the baby is growing really well too. I suppose in the grand scheme of things 4 days is nothing in 40 weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️ There will always be something to worry about though I’m sure!

My dating scan is a week on Monday at nearly 13 weeks. We had an interim scan last weekend at 10+3 and everything looked good. Just hoping it stays that way obviously! Looking forward to hopefully being able to tell people in a week or so 🤞🏻🙏 xxxx

SpyroC · 06/02/2021 13:42

All sounds good @Mackie2020 😌 it must be lovely to feel the kicks. I haven't experienced pgp but I do have a dodgey back and neck that has been noticeably worse since early on in pregnancy. The chiropractor does help and he recommended I get an exercise/birthing ball. I got one and it does seem to help. My friend who suffered pgp found hers good for this too. Perhaps a physio will offer similar tips. I am rubbish with pelvic floor exercises though and I definitely need to improve my efforts with those!

@BonTon congratulations on the scan 😊 glad to hear everything is going well. I read somewhere early on that they can fill up in some areas (it will say 4 spaces left etc...I think it's only 9 anyway though). Atm they are scheduled face to face after April but to be honest I can't see it...unvaccinated third trimester couples all sitting in a room... we'll see! You get a 15% refund if it goes online.

Hello everyone 👋 sorry I've been MIA too. Work has been crazy and I'm still so tired most of the time!

So glad everyone is progressing nicely and lots of you have had good scans! I'm nearly 14 weeks now and we had our 12 week scan last week - all looked good but the baby is measuring HUGE 😬😂 clearly dates can't be wrong because of the IVF. They didn't move the due date and midwife said they don't worry about you going overdue etc even if it is an IVF baby (although that might vary in different places). I have the next midwife appt in 2 weeks and 20 week scan end of March.

I'm still feeling quite sick in the evenings and still have lots of food aversions but it is definitely getting better. I seem to have a little bit of a bump but hardly noticeable to anyone else I think! I'm still running and so far so good with no ligament pain 🤞

I can't wait to start feeling movement! From what I read we can expect that from 18 ish weeks onwards? I think we are going to find out the sex at the next scan which is also exciting. Hopefully the sickness will have shifted by then too!

ChicaXS · 07/02/2021 11:42

@SpyroC thanks! I agree with you on the NCT course. Mine is in London and it’s 15 hours. I also want to do a separate course on baby’s first aid. The main antenatal course doesn’t include it? Does yours? They saved my place until the 16th Feb but it’s not until June so now I’m thinking of booking post the 20 week scan just in case. They also said it’s face to face on my course! I prefer it to be F2F to be honest and definitely want the baby first aid to be F2F as I don’t think you can get the best educational impact on zoom on the physical side of things!
@BonTon thank you lovely! I’m at the royal London in Whitechapel - the busiest hospital in Britain for covid care! I am moving to Kingston hospital just getting my paperwork sorted with my new GP first and then I will self refer. Even my private doctor who did the scan raised his eyebrows on the royal London and said that Kingston will be better care so it must be renowned to be slacking? I usually am really unfussed but they made too many questionable mistakes such as ignoring my SCH and I didn’t get seen until over 12 weeks once self referee despite being high risk! So good to her your baby is doing well. I heard good things about Whittington!

@MGee123 so lovely to hear from you again! I’m so glad your little bubba is doing well!
@Mackie2020 glad you are coming along nicely!

Xx

TheGlitterFairy · 08/02/2021 16:11

Hello everyone! Great to hear everyone's updates and hear that things are progressing well!

@SpyroC I'm showing a little now yes though still in regular clothes! The bump is beginning to look more like a bump rather than just too many carbs/ pies which is a good thing I think!! I've one pair of jeans that's a bit tight around the stomach now though others are ok yet as have more stretch in them! Really need to sort myself out with some new bras too as my boobs have grown more than the bump I think!
Are you similar in terms of showing yet?

@ChicaXS sorry you've been having a hard time of things - it sounds a positive move to a different hospital and team so fingers crossed things are ok for you going forward.

@SamoyedFan123 congrats on your baby boy! Exciting!!

@MGee123 great to hear you're still running and all going well! I started yoga again last week and loving being back at it! They recommended no yoga in the first trimester so it's good to be back! Esp as there's not much else going on with the lockdown etc at the moment!

@ivfjourney5 thanks re the UTI - all gone now. I did some research about it as it was so odd that I had one and it seems that ladies with a tilted uterus (as I have) are more prone to them in weeks 12 - 16. Something to do with the baby sort of lying backwards in the tilted uterus that then presses on your bladder and it doesn't empty properly - leading to bacteria and then a UTI. Makes sense I guess - though will see what he consultant thinks of my theory!!

So great to hear that everyone has had good scans and things are progressing well! I've another appt with the consultant at the end of the week and they'll do a scan then too - then the 20 week one in 4 weeks time. Still haven't decided (agreed) on if we'll find out the sex yet. I'm keen to and DH wants to wait. Argh!! I'm not good with patience at the best of times so we'll see!

NCT is a good idea - I'd not realised things might get booked up so quickly. Will take a look!

SpyroC · 08/02/2021 17:11

Glad to hear everything is progressing well @MGee123 🙂 my bump is also barely noticeable.

@ChicaXS all the courses available to me are 15 hours and no there's no first aid. I'm guessing td the same course across the country. My space is saved until the 14th, the course leader called today and I was sad I missed as would've liked to ask questions. I want to book so I know it's sorted but will check I can cancel if something bad happens. 🤞🏻 for f2f!

@TheGlitterFairy my bump is definitely a bump but it does look more like carbs! I'm quite tall and my abs are quite strong so I'm expecting it to take a while to "pop" I brought a couple of pairs of maternity jeggings just because I don't like things tight on my waist (an endo thing) and I figured I'll fill them out as I go. They are nice and comfy, I just roll them over a bit. The NCT. Booking up thing seems to vary by location. I have 2 options and one location seems to be filling up.

Well I had my first appointment with a consultant this morning and I was not very impressed. It worried DH and I and we were thinking it might lead to a change of hospitals. However, I've since spoken to friends who have different hospitals and trusts and it seems fairly standard for the monitoring phone calls. Both said it's only good care if something actually goes wrong. So that's calmed me down a bit. I'm glad I see the midwife this week too!

OP posts:
MGee123 · 08/02/2021 19:23

Sorry your appt wasn't that great @SpyroC. Was it bedside manner or just content that didn't seem helpful? I'm sure if needed they would hopefully step up!

We have signed up for our local antenatal class which is free through the hospital. I wasn't sure about paying for NCT with all being online? The one we're signed up for is just a one day crash course?! Hopefully it is helpful. I haven't bought any books or anything yet but will do nearer the time I think.

I have carried on doing yoga at home tthough out @TheGlitterFairy 😬😬😬 I have modified a few bits to reduce more extreme twisting etc but it has all felt okay. I bet your glad to be back to your classes. I do enjoy running even though I'm generally pretty tired at the moment.

@ChicaXS I hope your hospital move is positive for you. Are you moving house too?

SpyroC · 09/02/2021 19:14

@MGee123 it was both! Me and DH were both quite shocked and he is quite laid back. Ah well! The free hospital ones aren't running by us. Hopefully they will restart in time for July. 🤞🏻

OP posts:
ChicaXS · 09/02/2021 20:00

@MGee123 yes moving house too! Move date Saturday and already self referred to the new hospital.

I got my results today regarding my bloods and all is normal. SO relieved! Even though this was a PGS tested embryo I was still nervous because of my history. I’m praying I’ll start to enjoy my pregnancy more but don’t think I will until the 20 week scan!!

SpyroC · 09/02/2021 20:43

That's good @ChicaXS 😊. I am starting to feel happier now the nausea is starting to subside. But I know I will be brickin it come the 20w scan!

OP posts:
sazzt · 11/02/2021 18:57

Hi all...I went quiet for a few weeks partly due to being exhausted all the time (I have never napped so much in my life!) and also partly because I still couldn't quite believe the ivf might have worked. Especially then the week 6 bleeding gave me such a scare. But today I had my dating scan and there was a tiny wriggling little bean inside with a nice strong heartbeat Smile I am so relieved and now it's starting to sink in that this is for real. They also couldn't see any sign of the haematoma that was evident on my 7 week scan! My due date has been brought forward two days...v sceptical of that given the precision of ivf but also 2 days doesn't seem that significant so I'll just try and remember the new dates instead.
Hope everyone is doing well x

BonTon · 12/02/2021 08:15

That’s great news @sazzt 🥳 ... have my dating scan on Monday at 12+5 x

SpyroC · 12/02/2021 16:15

Great news @sazzt 😊 a few of us have had dates brought forward. I don't get trusts that use scan dates over ivf dates either. I suppose we should happy they're coming forward and not back.

Had my 16w check up and heard babies heartbeat 💗 it took her a while to find, thankfully she had pre earned me it could. X

OP posts:
TheGlitterFairy · 15/02/2021 13:47

@BonTon good luck with your dating scan today!

@SpyroC hope you're doing ok! Has the nausea eased a bit over the last few weeks or so? Sorry to hear you had a bad consultant appt also - hope all sorted with that now? Great news your 16wk check all went well and you were able to hear the heartbeat!

I had my 16wk consultant appt on Friday and also heard the heartbeat for the first time which was pretty cool! Baby was wriggling around again so it kept coming and going which she assured me was normal! Midwife check up next week and it seems they're striving for continuity with the consultants/ midwives which would be amazing if they can!

I've decided to wait until the 20 wk scan before letting work know so a couple more weeks to go.......worrying about it already which isn't helpful!!! Will be good to get it out of the way I think!

@ChicaXS hope your house move went well!

Hope everyone else is ok too!

BonTon · 15/02/2021 20:06

Thanks @TheGlitterFairy! All went well ☺️ Just waiting for the results of the blood tests in the next three days. I’m also pondering about telling work... I was thinking that I only owe them 3 months notice if I was leaving so surely about 20 weeks notice would be fine! What makes you want to wait? X

TheGlitterFairy · 16/02/2021 11:31

Great to hear @BonTon so pleased!! Smile Fingers crossed on the bloods!
Yeah - I'm on 3 months notice also so if you're going to give them 20, that's more then enough I'm sure!!

Waiting for me: just anxious about the 20 wk scan I guess so would be good to get that out of the way (!) and hopefully all will be well with that. But also, my (female) manager isn't known for being particularly emotionally intelligent and I'm not really looking forward to telling her! Think she will be quite shocked with it all as hasn't been aware of any of the treatment I've had over the last few years. So a nice bit of procrastination there! She's retiring at the end of the year so it won't be on her radar to be hiring for my replacement and to train them.

But also, my role is external/ client facing and once the cats out of the bag, there are just a LOT of people who will need to be informed (and who are also likely to be surprised) so I guess I feel that waiting til 20 weeks when hopefully all is ok just seems more reasonable and tangible. I'm not indispensable and the office isn't going to fall down without me obvs but just not looking forward to the conversation really! Am sure it'll be better than I imagine it might be!
Will you tell yours now do you think post 12 week scan?

@MGee123 I am enjoying being back to my yoga now thanks!! I've not been running again but will look to pick that up later in the year - and no doubt start C25K again!
