MrsMcJnr · 07/10/2007 20:49

Hey ladies back from hols and attempting to catch up. Hope everyone?s well!

MamaMaiasaura · 07/10/2007 21:27

just logged on to see how Fruitful is. Sorry that they are keeping you in. I asked if they knoew what it was as I had a small bleed with ds1 when placenta moved up, nothing like yours tho by the sounds of it.

How far away are you? I am in Southampton. Is there anything any of us can do to help? How scary having tostay in for next 7 weeks at least.

Sending lots of love to you from the Awen household. xxxx

Amani · 08/10/2007 08:38

Just skimmed read the posts since Friday - my my you have been busy!

How you doing now fruitful?

Awen - good to know your DS is eating more now. Gingeme - how is yours doing? Wishing them both a speedy recovery.

OP posts:
mum2bejan · 08/10/2007 09:40

MomBanks, I know exactly how you feel. I get pains in my hips from lying on my side and am constantly having to change sides while trying to sleep so wake up exhausted!

Amani · 08/10/2007 11:14

Anyone heard from MM?

OP posts:
Cazzybaby · 08/10/2007 11:42

Hi Ladies

Fruitful - hope you are ok, keep us posted on how you are doing sending you lots of hugs xxxx

I have got a weeks temping work starting today and feel really nervous! Silly I'm sure it will all go fine, only afternoons starting at 1 so better go and get ready.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying monday xx

ladylush · 08/10/2007 12:05

Fruitful, sorry to hear you are in hospital but here's hoping the time doesn't drag too slowly. Pregnancy is a drama from start to finish isn't it

BeckyAu · 08/10/2007 12:54

Morning ladies!

I am trying with lots of banging and crashing going on as the builders have arrived - hurrah! They've taken the kitchen out, and discovered the tiles were holding the plaster on and a few dodgy pipes and electrics but it is all terribly exciting!

Susiemj - just wanted to let you know that we bought an Argos sofa (admittedly relatively cheap and cheerful) about 6 months ago and within 6 weeks it was uncomfortable and we have just had to order a new sofa as the arm is now wobbly and i can't get comfy on it al all - the cushions are so rubbish i feel i'm sitting on the fram e which is rubbish. I am sure not all their sofas are like this but I thought I'd let you know our experience. We have just bitten the bullet and decided to buy a new sofa that will hopefully last for many years - from Laura Ashley. It was more than we were hoping to spend but I'm told the quality is really good. Let's hope so.

I too am getting a really sore right hip in bed. I sleep so much bettr on my side but it's not comfy so I keep waking up. Sounds like there are lots of us in the same boat huh?

Well I'm off to make tea for the builders... and have a sneaky peek at what's going on!

Have a lovely day y'all xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 08/10/2007 13:12

Amani - not heard anything from MM, just quickly popped on again. Poor you with the pain, think it is likely all that stretching and growing. I have been aching alot down low by scar, think it is all the stretching. Was able to feel foot or elbow really clearly.

Cazzy - hope th etemping goes ok, take it easy xx

Gingeme - hope you ok, is ds ok?

Ds here is much improved, mild earache but really geting back on form He is loving that dp is home too.

madmouse · 08/10/2007 13:18

Hi y'all

Fruitful, I admire you, you sound amazingly sane, I wouldn't be. Adding my good wishes and prayers to everyone else's.

Having a bad cold, but getting better. Snoring my husband silly, but bless him now I am preggers he won't allow me to sleep on the sofa so he just puts up with it. Although his descriptions of the sounds I make make me .

Ordered nappies (reusables) online. Apart from the pushchair (have decided, but waiting for price to drop) we are down to the boring stuff now, like nappies and breast pads. Baby clothes are more fun

tripletsandtwins · 08/10/2007 13:48

Fruitful - I hope things go well for you and you have a long pregnancy xx.

I gave birth at 35+2 weeks with my trio (), so I don't know what it would be like to have a very prem baby first hand, but I can sympathise with the scariness of the thought; I was bombarded with facts and figures from my drs who were convinced I wouldn't make it past 30 weeks, but I surprised them all!

I know meeely2 has twins born at 29weeks and her boys are healthy, maybe it would help for you to speek to someone who had a prem birth?

If I can help you in any way, please let me know

fluffymummy · 08/10/2007 13:56

(reposting as just noticed the new thread! nice title!!)

hi girls, hope everyone is well...I've been off MN for about 2 weeks (1 week in Glasgow for work, 1 week in Italy for fun) so don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever catching up.... Any chance of someone providing a brief update at some point?!!

All good with me, I've finally told work I'm pregnant - in general it wasn't too much of a shock as even with careful dressing they'd sort of noticed I'd put on a little weight over the past few weeks...although they were a bit stunned that I was already 23 weeks!

I think this has been covered already, but can anyone recommend a good winter coat solution?
Hugs to all,
FM xx

Naetha · 08/10/2007 14:16

Afternoon all, sorry to hear you're in hospital fruitful - hopefully the placenta will move up, and you can go home and have a "normal" pregnancy for the remainder - thinking of you

I'm getting used to less sleep every night, although hardly enjoying it! Also finding going for walks a bit tougher - the first bit is always a nightmare, then anything after about 30 minutes just makes me ache!!

Also think I'm coming down with another cold, but it seems to be a real slow burner - been bunged up and had bad headaches for about two weeks now, and developed a sore throat over the last few days or so as well. Don't know whether this is related or not, but also got a really sore tongue. I know this is meant to be a sign of anaemia, but I've been taking spatone regularly as well as other pregnancy multivitamins, so in theory I should be OK. I am starting to feel quite run down though - sitting in work meetings with a bunged up nose, headache, sore throat after getting 3 hours sleep isn't much fun!!

Got my GTT tomorrow, although I'm not looking forwards to the blood tests and having to drink a sugary drink etc, I'm looking forwards to not being at work!!

madmouse · 08/10/2007 14:21

I found it a good indication of how tire I was when I looked forward to going to phlebotomist (my MW can't get blood out of me) for samples, as it meant I could sleep an extra hour before the appointment (8.30appt versus 7.30 train!)

MamaMaiasaura · 08/10/2007 15:04

Naetha - me too with GTT tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Have to be there for 8.45 and no food... wanting some mars bars now just incase i am not allowed them for remainder of pregnancy

Cant remember but are we due same time? Got my next antenatal next week, wondering if they will test iron levels. Feeling so tired most of the time.

Is anyone else getting swollen legs/ankles? Am dreading the cankle stage.

Naetha · 08/10/2007 15:41

Hi Awen - you're 31st Dec, I'm 30th, so close enough

Thankfully my legs and ankles aren't swollen. I have extremely wide feet at the best of times, and have real trouble getting shoes to fit, so God knows what I'll do if I can't wear my super-wide skate shoes any more! Wear slippers probably!

Ooh got something wedged underneath my left ribs at the moment - rather uncomfortable!!

MamaMaiasaura · 08/10/2007 16:46

tis close enough. If you resort to slippers it would have to be character ones for work!

Right, dp just built the drawers/changer unit and I have just filled it with ds's old baby clothes Even got the coming out of hospital outfit thing.. We also looked at pushchairs yesterday and..... DP is really taken with the bugabo (techy thing i think) It thinks it is amazing, practical, light etc etc etc.. so looks like we are getting it, but no new car yet.

Naetha · 08/10/2007 17:24

We looked at the bugaboo, but couldn't reason with the extra cost, so are going for a Quinny Buzz instead

Unfortunately I don't have any character slippers (well I do, they're pink Vicki Pollard ones but they don't fit me!) but I do have huge fleecy boots that would look completely inappropriate at work!

Btw anyone else's DPs getting pregnancy symptoms as well? My DH lost his appetite in the first 4 months (like I did), felt knackered in the first 3 months, and now has started getting backache, and HIS tongue hurts as well! I think its quite sweet in a way (that we mirror eachother so closely) but I wish he wouldn't steal my sympathy!!

Me: Urgh, I'm knackered tonight, don't want to eat anything.

DH: Me too...

Me: You can't be!!! You can't be as tired or as fed up as I am!!!!!

or

Me: My tongue hurts

DH: Yeah, mine too...

Me: No no no no no! You're not allowed to have my symptoms!!!

Hmmm I sound a little mad there don't I... Ho hum, never mind!

Ooh I know what else I was going to ask...

I have quite sensitive skin, and very sensitive nipples. Is there any way I can "prepare" them for breastfeeding? I really really want to breastfeed, and I'm very aware that it will hurt, just wondered if there was anything I could do at this stage that wouldn't make it hurt so much?

Have a good evening

MrsMcJnr · 08/10/2007 17:56

Hey ladies it?s just impossible to catch up! I?ll just have to catch up on your news as I go along from now on so apologies to anyone who has announced anything exciting in the last week that I have missed.

Fruitful ? poor you I have everything crossed that you can hold on until at least 30 weeks. I hope you are ok hon. Sending huge hugs xx

Hey Awen ? so good to hear that your DS is doing well and that your DP is home! good luck with the GTT tomorrow. Wow!! You sound so organized, you are scaring me! We?ve ordered a Bugaboo and are delighted with our choice, we looked at so many and did so much research that we really do think that it?s the best one for us quite excited about it, aren?t I sad? DH is worse though, he was telling Beanie the other day that he?ll be jealous of him/her as would like to snuggle up in the bugaboo himself

Gingeme ? and how is your DS?

Lots of new faces hello to Amani and mum2bejan.

Hey Cazzy ? hope the temping goes well

Big wave to you Ladylush ? how are you? X

BeckyAu ? hope all the building work is going well have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your knees to ease the pressure on your right hip when you sleep on your left side, seems to help mine a bit but I can sympathise as I am in pain a lot these days.

Hello Madmouse ? which reusables are you going to use? Hope your cold gets better soon. LOL I am seeing the phlebotomist tomorrow and like you, I almost enjoy going because of the lie in!

Hey Tripletsandtwins ? 35+2 was great going with triplets!

Fluffymummy ? I could benefit from an update too, I?ve been away for a week and can?t even begin to catch up! Yipeee, you are out of the closet! Well done! I saw a long fleecy coat on Blooming Marvellous?s website which was about £40. I think I am going to go for one of those.

Naetha ? poor you you do sound a bit run down, hope you feel much better soon. All the best for the GTT tomorrow. Sure I?ve said it before but we ruled out the Buzz because I just could not hook the safety catch on (and if you don?t they apparently open on their own in your boot!) if you can do it, you are a stronger woman than me! good question on the breastfeeding.

Hello to all ? dying to hear how you all are!!

barristermum · 08/10/2007 17:57

Naetha - my dh bought me a mothers to be pack from Neal Yard and the stretchmark cream - which is nice and not greasy also says that it can be used in the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare nipples for breastfeeding and to aid suppleness in the perineum - don't know about you but that thought just makes me shudder!

Fruitful - so so sorry to hear how miserable things have gotten. I echo Awen - where are you? Is there anything we can do to help?

Awen - so glad dp back in the bosom of his family. Hope you are having fum altogether and he isn't finding it too hard to adjust - somethimes I think it can be hard fater you have been away for a chunk of time to settle back into another routine.

Well, I am officially now grown up - we bought a Volvo estate at the weekend! A V40 that went like the clappers when we test drove it and is quite nice and hig spec inside - leather seats for easy wiping of baby sick! It's the closest thing we have done to preparing for baby, who seems to sense we are not doing much as is now getting very kicky and even making tummy move from outside! I imagine baby trying to kick us into action and saying "Look, I'm real, can you feel me, get your act together!" - tho, when dh or anyone puts a hand on tummy to feel it gets stage fright and I imagine it frozen in my tummy "What? What did I do, why all the attention?!" - Love it!

barristermum · 08/10/2007 18:01

Hey Mrs McJnr - great to have you back - didja have a good time and was everything all right with your cortisol etc when you went away?

Amani is motherofz - she created a new id for herself!

fruitful · 08/10/2007 18:53

MrsMcJnr · 08/10/2007 19:47

LOL Barristermum ? I am trying to get my head round the thought of massaging Vit E oil into my perineum later on, much later on but how will I reach?! very grown up car! you sound on great form. Had a lovely break thanks my Mum wasn?t too mean about my weight ? only said not to put on more than 2 more pounds! Thanks for asking about the cortisol ? my results came back clear so that was great ? Consultant has no idea why I am brown! Ah right ? thanks for the tip on Amani AKA MotherofZ Great update by the way. Poor Fruitful . Now?.these tattoos?..!

Hey Fruitful we get the benefit of you being cooped up in there ? lots of posts sounds like things are improving, I am so pleased. Fingers crossed they continue that way. Thanks for the lansinoh tip; I?ve just bought a tube of that
