Anyone else out there or am I the only mental person who tests this early?

debinaustria · 15/10/2007 18:39

Welcome Sybil and Helen

Helen - your 1st - that's sooo exciting, have you been trying long? Now - what to expect next - extreme tiredness and either just feeling nauseous or actually being sick.

I am 5 weeks+4 days. i am quite sick and have to have an afternoon nap, luckily we both work from home so it's not too bad, just find I have very little motivation at the moment which isn't good when you're your own boss.

Deb

HelenCS · 15/10/2007 19:00

Hey,

as my partner was based over in Germany (hes in the army) we hadnt really had the opportunity to try until he got posted back to the uk (were moving to kent in a couple of days) and with 1 month of 'properly giving it a go' i became pregnant! so were extremly lucky it happened so quick

The tiredness started a few days ago.. due to moving im not working for a few weeks so been having lay ins until about 11 but by about 2pm im absolutely knackered!

Im due to have a scan in a couple of weeks, cant wait to see how my babys doing

Kif · 15/10/2007 19:23

evening ladies.

Well, first day back, and I ended up telling my boss, even though I'd meant to keep it secret until christmas. He said "So, Kif, let's talk about where you see yourself a year from now" - I couldn't lie to his face. He went bright red, but seemed happy for me. Apparently he (correctly) suspected I'd been looking around for other jobs, and would possibly be resigning. So, in a funny way, he says me being pregnant helps him plan!

Have been eating bags and bags of salt and vinegar crisps to keep sickness back. Seems to come and go.

Kif · 15/10/2007 19:26

sybil - weird dreams v. normal in pregnancy. Apparently it's a way for you to subminally process your fear associated with pregnancy/birth. It's irrelevant who they feature, iyswim. It's likely to just be someone close to you 'playing the part' of your fear.

I got this very particular dream in the third trimester of the baby coming out of me for 'a holiday' intending to go back in the bump later

tizzwhizz · 15/10/2007 20:02

Hi All

Hope everyone doing ok.

Congrats to upsidedowncake - Hope Hospital went well.

Helenc - Congrats on your first thats brilliant. Symptoms same as what others said you will probably feel exhausted and maybe nauseous. And dont know about anyone else but i seem to need to wee loads sorry if too much info. I did with ds1 in early stages then later obviously.

NH101 - How was scan?

DLM & Ronshar - Are you feeling any better?

Ooh Kif salt and vinegar hadnt thought of those. glad work went well.

TwilightSurfer · 15/10/2007 20:18

Still dragging but mood seems to be good. Salt and Vinegar sounds dreamy, pass the bag this way. Still can't seem to stop eating. So I'm very tired, want to eat all the time, and feel HUGE....are any of these signs of twins?? Only Week 6 Day 2. No morning sickness, well none that really counts (as compared to MS marathon with DD).

Lazylou did you see the article in I'm Pregnant entitled What are my rights? Should drop it on boss' desk.

Lilypink · 15/10/2007 20:20

Hi, been keeping quiet as still don't really have any symptoms and as 5wks 4days not sure if things are looking good for me. But trying to remain hopeful.

debinaustria · 15/10/2007 20:31

Hey Lilypink - you're due the same day as me!!

I wouldn't worry about the symptoms, some women hardly have any until 6-8 weeks

Kif - so you can go to work in your maternity wear then instead of "dressing badly" as you put it!!

I fing dry bread helps the nausea (sometimes) , can't get salt and vinegar crisps here.

Deb

systemsaddict · 15/10/2007 21:15

oooh salt and vinegar crisps, I have had 3 packets today! the salt and vinegar squares are the best ... miracle anti-sickness devices, don't know what they put in them but they do the trick for me! Couldn't have touched them last time round, isn't it funny ...

Ronshar -where do you live? Talk about postcode lottery. If you're anywhere near London, get thee to St George's Tooting. They scanned me today at 4 weeks + 1 - even though I argued against it as there wouldn't be anything to see - because that's their procedure. I hope you're feeling better.

I had HCG levels done today and back on Wednesday, then news on Thursday. I'm panicking that I misread the bfp and I'm sending everyone to all this trouble for nothing.

HelenCS, Very exciting to have your first. I love all the plotting and comparing of symptoms. Even the nausea is fun in a 'I'm pregnant' sort of way!

Ooo. I wish I had lovely freaky dreams. Restless nights, yes. But no fun dreams.

I do have a severely altered sense of taste. Completely off booze, and mushrooms bizarrely.

Salt and vinegar crisps. You mad women you.

josey · 15/10/2007 22:19

MMM SnV crisps dont usually like them but can you spare some lol!! the smell when you pass the chip shop is driving me mad I turn into a silly drooly woman, also the other night when walking the dog one of my neighbours must have been cooking bacon, I almost ended up on all fours sniffing like the mut at my heals today for lunch I had cheese on toast with Jalapeno chillis yum

Im sure I am showing craving signs of a blue one this time, I was very like this with DS and DD is eat big chuncks of heavily buttered bread and loads of cheese, cheese and salad cream was a fav and then anything that was super sweet and I had never had a sweet tooth before then.

Dreading the MS starting, was only am with DD, DS was awful I tore my stomach and had blood in my sick sorry TMI and it was every day anytime for the full 40weeks.

Better go to bed as cant drag myself up in the morning, so glad its the school hols, my ds the little star has been getting up and dealing with the dog so I can snore an extra half hour or so

Har · 15/10/2007 22:37

Hello everyone! Josey showed me where to come, was hunting for a June thread in Pregnancy... didn't lift my eyes to the obviously titles Ante-natal clubs! I am five weeks and 3 days now and very impatient for my first appointment with the doctor so that I can reassure myself that everything is ok. Have had stitch like/pulled muscle pains on my right side which I posted on Pregnancy as I was worried.

Josey - love your cravings! I want some too! Awful about your ms last time. I have mild nausea now and thought that was it. Does it usually get worse as the weeks go on? Hope it's much less for you this time.

Har · 15/10/2007 22:55

Oh and waves to Deb, Twilight, Floss and Calebsmum. It's so nice to be here!

debinaustria · 16/10/2007 06:19

Welcome Har, glad you found us.

Deb

debinaustria · 16/10/2007 06:30

Har - you might only get mild nausea if you're lucky, mine is getting worse daily. I've started having to run to the loo to be sick but after horrible retching nothing comes up - sorry of that's tmi.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Deb

Har · 16/10/2007 08:33

Good morning Deb, you're a very early riser! How's everything in Austria? Your ms sounds horrible you poor thing. Think mine is actually getting worse, up to now have only been having it from the afternoon, morning now and I'm feeling very queasy and dizzy (also bad tummy - read that could be a sign of ectopic... god am posting about that everywhere! Do you know if it's perfectly normal to have a bad tummy - sorry tmi - at the beginning?) Sorry Deb, you did say I could ask questions .

josey · 16/10/2007 10:02

Glad you found us Har dont worry about asking ?s your tum will prob be all over the place just now with your hormons going mental, try not to worry there will be worse to come lol x

My MS usually really hits me around week 7/8 then with DD as just fading by week 18, I found the best thing to do was have a big drink of juice gulp it down then it would come up pretty quick and that way I would usually hold onto my breakfast sorry TMI

debinaustria · 16/10/2007 10:44

Har - my tummy's a bit off this morning too so I wouldn't worry.

I don't get up that early - it's just that we're an hour behind UK time so it looks very early!

where are you Har?

Deb

Har · 16/10/2007 10:50

Thanks so much Josey, it's wonderful to have this place. Lol (sort of ) about worse to come! about juice trick, you must have been really hardened!!!

Pain in right side certainly isn't getting worse. The mental hormones thing makes sense particularly as I have mild IBS so my body does go that way with stress/hormones (when I have AF), I also met someone at the w/e who said (after we'd spent the whole day together, thank you) that she had a tummy bug. Could be that as well, particularly as I'm feeling a little feverish). Yuk anyway.

Now enough of self obsession . How is everyone this morning?

goingfor3 · 16/10/2007 11:13

nh101 how did the scan go yesterday?

josey · 16/10/2007 11:13

sorry to shock you Har, its just that when Im hungry the sickness is worse so if i was sick after I ate it was neverending plus its easier to get it over with and only part with a little liquid

I have just had a phone call from DH he is coming home this avo yeah, though I do have to go and rush about and tidy up as he is very house proud so no lazy daydreaming for me today so what Iam i doing on here!!

Speak to you all later x

Har · 16/10/2007 11:33

Good luck with the frantic tidying!

Mich10 · 16/10/2007 11:50

Hi all,

I hope you all don't mind me joining this thread. Due June 18th so I'm 5+6 (I think) today.

I have a dilemma on the whole who to tell/not tell front! I have a bi-annual girls night out in Glasgow at the end of October (always very boozy), when I will be nowhere near my 12 week safety net. Can't cancel as one of my closest friends has just announced her engagement and would take it personally but evidently won't be drinking. However not known for my abstinence & they all know we've been trying so it will be a obvious give away. What they don't know is that I had a m/c in June and I feel the need to "calibrate" my good news.DH doesn't feel the world needs to know. Having been through it once still not sure whether others knowing would have made it worse or better and not sure I have the energy to make up some rubbish non drinking excuse! Arrgh!!

Any advice gratefully received. What are others doing?
