@lilice I know because of my growth scans. Fingers crossed it turns soon as its so uncomfortable!

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/06/2020 12:06

@bk356 where I live has really low corona virus numbers but my consultant still says I should be stringently social distancing (their words!) and avoiding face to face contact where possible. To be honest if I didnt have a toddler I'd probably go out and about more, but it's hard to keep him away from people/ stop him licking things etc haha so we've just been seeing my parents (who are self isolating so no risk) and my husband's family (my MIL is a nurse so quite high risk so we are trying to maintain social distancing with them when we go round but she's being very awkward about it!!). To be honest I'm quite an anxious person and I just feel safer at home, haven't been to the shops or anything and just take my son to places where we can play without anyone else being there. It's what you are comfortable with really and assessing the risk of each situation. I know my husband is getting a bit fed up of it all, and he has to go back to the office next month so after that to be honest social distancing probably won't matter as he'll have to be mixing with everyone anyway.

ShiningStarz · 27/06/2020 12:30

@ChipsAreLife 🤣🤣🤣🤣 @Chanel05 we need to get on all four's and scrub the kitchen floor 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Actually might try the all four's without the scrubbing lol and see if little one has turned in then for my next scan in 10 days 🤞🤞🤞

Bk356 · 27/06/2020 12:42

@Lazydaisydaydream thank you for that. It’s so nice to hear honest opinions from people that are in the same position and feeling the same way as me. We’ve been doing the same with parents and like you say, my husbands back at work anyway!

@Laura1348 Window to the Womb are amazing for private scans and they’ve just started doing 4D scans again now

Laura1348 · 27/06/2020 12:52

@Bk356 thank you. Not sure about 4D think that would freak me out but will take a look.
Just want a scan that my husband can be at really. Waited so long to be preggars and now just feel he is missing out a bit.
But things could be much worse!
Thanks again
Xx

Bk356 · 27/06/2020 12:57

@Laura1348 I 100% agree. I’ve always found 4D really creepy but it was totally different being our own 😂 like you say though, it was so nice to have my husband there with me! I was so relieved when she confirmed the baby was a girl as well!! I was really stressed out for my 20 week scan that I’ve been paranoid I got it wrong which would have been a disaster clothing and nursery wise 🤣🤣

Laura1348 · 27/06/2020 14:51

@Bk356 I'm definitely going to discuss it with husband and she what he want too.
Thanks for the advice.
I felt the same -at 20wk scan told a boy then I asked again at 28wks and she showed me
His testicles! 🙈
At least i know the nursery will be okay!
😂😂👍

LatteLover12 · 27/06/2020 15:05

Hi everyone 😊

Lovely news on the progress that Wren is making @sara7455 it must be lovely (but very strange) to be home.

I've been out travel system shopping today! I was pretty much set on the Bugaboo Fox before we even left the house but we ended up comparing lots of different systems and our top two are now the M&P Ocarro and the iCandy Peach.

We're really struggling to decide between them (DP prefers the Ocarro and I like the iCandy!)

Has anyone already bought their pram? Any preferences?

Help! 😂

Laura1348 · 27/06/2020 15:19

@LatteLover12 hi
I got a nuna mixx next travel system via the internet.
I really like it; I live in the country so needed something that could cope with rough terrain.
It may be a bit chunky for some.

ShiningStarz · 27/06/2020 15:25

@LatteLover12 we got the bugaboo fox 2!! We didn't see it in action, just online so hopefully all good with it!!! Why didn't you like it?

LatteLover12 · 27/06/2020 15:50

Thanks @Laura1348 and @shiningstarz 😊

It's not that I didn't like the bugaboo, I really did but DP strongly preferred the Ocarro and then we went to JL and I spotted the iCandy which looked really stylish. DP didn't feel the bugaboo felt as 'sturdy' 🙄

Now I need to decide and if we're not getting the bugaboo then my next choice would be the iCandy. Gah! Good job he's not here for another 3 months!

ShiningStarz · 27/06/2020 15:55

Thanks @LatteLover12 I'm
Hoping as we haven't compared we'll not notice !! Will get partner to build it well.

I'v been making my hospital bag list. Whilst googling I came across a list of someone who packed a skin to skin top, a nice looking black top that is worn with jeans etc and baby fits in chest of it. Anyone have any experience?!

LatteLover12 · 27/06/2020 15:58

Honestly, it's a lovely pram and I'd have just bought it online ages ago if DP hadn't insisted on test driving them all! 😂

I've seen those skin to skin tops, I'm very tempted too!

Laura1348 · 27/06/2020 16:24

@ShiningStarz we didn't try out either- lots of internet reviews and googling! Hoping it will all be fine 🙈🤷‍♀️

pangolin84 · 27/06/2020 16:24

The bump is now big enough to get in the way of cutting my toenails! Not sure what I’ll do when it’s even bigger...

pangolin84 · 27/06/2020 16:28

We also went for the Bugaboo Fox and this was without going in a shop (felt so wrong to spend so much on something we’d never tried out) but it came highly recommended by friends with babies. So far we’ve only test-driven it around the garden but initial impressions are good. Husband was very impressed with the suspension 😂 We went for that one because it’s good for all types of terrain and we do a lot of walking.

Lazydaisydaydream · 27/06/2020 16:30

@ShiningStarz I've had a look at those tops and was tempted, but I already have a stretchy wrap which I think I'll just use instead. The idea of just being able to pop baby in without having to tie the sling does sound good though! Just wasn't sure how long baby would actually fit in it for?

Can't wait for skin to skin and baby cuddles 😍😍

ShiningStarz · 27/06/2020 16:37

@Lazydaisydaydream they are so expensive!! Think I might improvise with something I already have!

ShiningStarz · 27/06/2020 17:11

So I'm now reading about colostrum harvesting 🤔 apparently you can buy sterile syringes and you can massage it out before baby is born and store in syringes and freeze. Experienced ladies out there please advise?!

Lilice · 27/06/2020 17:34

@ShiningStarz ive seen those tops in a seraphine add and they look amazing but too expensive for me.
@pangolin84 my husband will take over when i can't reach my toes. I'll also told him he'll have to wax my legs for me soon 🙈

Lilice · 27/06/2020 17:36

My sleep is awful and I can't seem to sleep on the left side. My hips hurt and I keep tossing and turning, going from left to right. Is it really that important to stick to the left side?

Laura1348 · 27/06/2020 18:01

@Lilice I flick from side to side all night long. I find my hips hurt- I have a maternity pillow between my legs. I've got a 12ft one that's bent In half so no matter which side I can just roll over and it's there.

Roxy8203 · 27/06/2020 18:42

@LatteLover12 I've got the occarro and I'm very impressed with it. Really easy to put up and down with one hand, well build and seems really sturdy.

Roxy8203 · 27/06/2020 18:45

I saved this as I'm interested in trying it but have seen you shouldn't do it until 36/37 weeks as it can bring on labour

LatteLover12 · 27/06/2020 18:49

Thanks @Roxy8203 we're still discussing it & Chinese take away has been ordered!

Colostrum harvesting is entirely new to me and this will be baby 3. I breastfed both my boys for a year and it's not something I've ever done or heard of! I'm (finally!) seeing my mw on Wednesday and was planning to ask her about it.

I don't understand how women transport their frozen syringes to hospital when they go into labour and know they're still safe to use? What if you're in labour for 40 hours? So confused!
