@BirdGarden I had three sweeps last time. None worked but the third was so violent that it left me tearful and shaking afterwards. Still didn't work. So I would also never ever have one again. And I am fine with my smear tests.

Last time I tried rl tea, sex, pineapple, curry, pineapple curry, sex, everything. Baby was not for moving and ended up on the drip.

BirdGarden · 17/05/2020 17:32

@Pegase I had a drip too. And pessary. And half the world man handling the exit... I won't post my full birth story as it's not fair on others!

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience; starting to feel like I'm broken for not being able to "take it". I have told myself pregnancy lasts until 42 weeks so I don't rush into anything. Thankfully I bloody love a curry anyway!

I've noticed from American sites they start checking your cervix waaaay before due date; it doesn't seem to be that unusual to be a waddling round dilated and/or effaced ages in advance? I spoke to an "older" midwife recently who said she was old school and learnt "never trust a cervix"! So whether it looks favourable at your sweep or not, don't worry, it's not set in stone!

APD1981 · 17/05/2020 18:14

@NakeliP I call legless and sleeveless or short sleeved suits with poppers vests and full leg/full arm (with feet in and also fold over mitt things on the sleeves) babygros/sleepsuits. I had to Google it too as I thought babygros and sleepsuits were different things but they're not, I don't think!

Zoey92 · 17/05/2020 18:19

@Magpie21 im feeling ok, feel like i could sleep for england mind, i didnt get to sleep till 5am saturday just laying there.
I geel huge by nightime and so uncomfortable.
I tend to only have atm if i do too much around the house i get a burst of energy and cleeeean, had no cravings just absolutely love the smell of dettol & flash 😂
I had the itching early on in my pregnancy used to smother myself in the stuff or have a soak in the bath, luckily no stretch marks yet 🤞

Pegase · 17/05/2020 19:49

Babygro= sleepsuit and bodysuit=vest

Had such an emotional day today, my friends organised me a surprise baby shower by zoom, everyone having afternoon tea and they'd sent me a box of baby themed cupcakes which my husband had managed to hide since Friday! ❤️ Was just so lovely to see them all and hear all their predictions for the baby!!

Topped off by our very clever singing friends who sang at our wedding for us. They took our wedding song 'here comes the sun' and remade it into 'here comes your son' with all new lyrics!! I bawled my eyes out, it was just so lovely!!

Cornishbumpkin · 17/05/2020 22:58

Aww @BabyBird20 that sounds so lovely

SerBrienneOfHouseTarth · 17/05/2020 23:21

Lovely @BabyBird20 ❤️ Unfortunately my day wasn't quite as lovely!

I got antibiotics yesterday for suspected tonsillitis and woke up this morning covered in a red, itchy, hot rash. I've been demented with the itch! Turns out I took a reaction to the drugs so had to stop them. Mat unit had me up for a trace due to no movements but also did blood tests incase of obstetric choleostasis. They're pretty convinced it is just a drug reaction but did the bloods to be sure.

In the meantime, I was waiting on the Covid test (due to dry cough) coming back but as it wasn't in I had to go to the separate area at assessment. MWs and Drs in full PPE inc visors etc and I had to wear a mask. It was very well done and the staff were amazing. Baby had a perfect trace but I could only feel around 1 in 4 of the movements so they're getting me back tomorrow or Tue for another one just to reassure and have booked a scan.

Typically, as soon as I got home I got a negative result on the covid test. Cannot tell you what a relief that is! So, I'm currently in bed, in the nip, with an ice pack on my red hot fandango trying to calm this rash! What a day! 😂

Ginfilledcats · 18/05/2020 07:56

Ooh sorry you're unwell @serbrienne must be horrible to be this pregnant and sick! And have a reaction to abx!

I had a pretty anxious weekend but spent 2 hours just listening to music with my husband with candles on in our snug last night and I feel like a different person. Last 2 days of work for me for a year! That feels crazy!!! Almost as crazy as I could literally have this baby any day! (37 weeks tomorrow!)

Has anyone got like pressure in their pelvis/crotch area? It's not lightening crotch, boy do I know what that feels like Envy it's like a general ache/pressure/feel like I've been kicked. Could it be baby engaging?

Hope you're all well xxx

SearchingTheSkies · 18/05/2020 09:14

Morning all, hope everyone's ok.

Just wondering if anyone else gets a sore, almost burning sensation at top of bump? Feels a bit like a pulled muscle combined with sunburn beneath the skin. Not painful exactly but really tender.

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth Hope you're on the mend soon!

@BabyBird20 How lovely!! Such a thoughtful thing to do.

34+3 so still a way to go for me. Just trying to order final bits and pieces to ensure they arrive in good time! All your tips on what to pack are so incredibly useful!!

Magpiefeather · 18/05/2020 10:00

@SearchingTheSkies haven’t had that at top of bump, but have had it round belly button as t has stretched! May be stretching skin?

This morning though I’ve had a few period type cramps... I made the mistake of googling and of course it says it could be premature labour! Not yet please baby (35 weeks). Would like him to stay put at least another 2 weeks. Anyone else had this type of pain?

Smiffette · 18/05/2020 10:45

I'm officially on leave! I have 3 weeks holiday before Mat leave kicks in on my due date!
It feels strange not having anything to do or anywhere to be!

37 weeks today! Ready when you are baby girl 👧🏼 🥰

Mj2196 · 18/05/2020 11:12

Prettty sure I saw and felt babe flip round last night ! Surprisingly painful 🙈. Just waiting for my growth scan now fingers crossed we’re head down and not piling on the pounds !

chocolate26 · 18/05/2020 12:00

@SearchingTheSkies yes!! I've had that a couple of times, it really scared me the first time it happened as it was so painful/uncomfortable but I spoke to my midwife about it and she said it's muscles stretching! Such a weird sensation though isn't it 😟

Gigitree · 18/05/2020 12:01

Yes @Magpiefeather I’ve been having period type cramps on and off for a few weeks now, low down in my pelvis. I spoke to my midwife about it last week and she said it’s perfectly normal. Sometimes it’s just the body accommodating the growth of the baby and other times it could be your body just getting itself ready for labour. But she said it’s nothing to worry about. I imagine if it continues and builds you might want to ring your midwife or triage just to check. But if it passes it’s nothing to worry about ❤️

Gigitree · 18/05/2020 12:02

Oh and I’m 34+5

Magpiefeather · 18/05/2020 12:53

Thanks @Gigitree that really helps!

@Mj2196 fingers crossed!! That sounds positive though Smile

Mj2196 · 18/05/2020 13:11

Baby is head down ! However estimated around 7lb 7 with a HC of 36cm . I have opted for induction at 38-39 weeks rather than elcs. I just about managed dd at 8lb 13 so trying to have faith i can do a 9lber 😬

36+1

Blizy · 18/05/2020 13:18

@Mj2196 fab news!

Wow, so many of us will be giving very soon, so exciting! I'm only 33+5 but will have an elcs around the 17th a June. So just over 4 weeks for me.
The end is in sight ladies...

BirdGarden · 18/05/2020 14:24

@SerBrienneOfHouseTarth so sorry you're not well, hope you feel better very soon X

I have had strong period pains for a couple of weeks now, getting worse each week and need the odd dose of paracetamol so I can carry on. Don't remember this with DD at all but all pregnancies are different I guess! Loads of cervix pain, the stronger the pain the more the discharge too, which is just gross. But we all know this pregnancy malarky isn't pretty Grin

37+2 or 3 today, I forget now. Still another three weeks left at work. God I wish I could have loads of caffeine and wine to get through!

Ginfilledcats · 18/05/2020 14:36

So it's my last day of work tomorrow when I'll also be 37 week. I'm working from home. I haven't received or sent an email in 2 hours.....can I have a nap do we think? Halo

Kez437 · 18/05/2020 14:50

@Magpiefeather @Gigitree I've had this as well the last couple of days! I was 37 weeks on Saturday and that's when it started, it's not consistent and not all that painful but definitely period like cramps. Only way to describe them. I've an appointment on Thursday so might mention them to midwife. Originally I got excited thinking baby was coming but I think he/she is far too comfortable lol

SearchingTheSkies · 18/05/2020 14:57

@Magpiefeather @chocolate26 Thank you, it's reassuring to know you've both had something similar. I'm pretty sure it's something stretching, but I have a growth scan on Weds so I'll double check with the doctor then and report back if it's anything different.

Congrats to everyone finishing work. Are you all planning on taking a year off? I'm going to see how things go money-wise, but hope to take at least 9 months off.

APD1981 · 18/05/2020 15:32

I finish work on Friday for half term and then don't go back after it so my official first day of mat leave is 2/6 but no more work from 22/5. I'm taking a full year off and seriously contemplating resigning. I will go back for the 13 weeks I need to to not have to pay my OMP back (6 weeks of that would be school holidays though) then, depending on how I feel about everything then, I might stay at home with the baby for a year or 2. We have almost finished paying off out mortgage and with overpayments it should be gone by next spring which will help my decision! This is also going to be my only child so I feel like I only have 1 chance of experiencing everything there is to offer. I appreciate I am in a very fortunate position to have that choice financially, I just need to make sure I do the right thing for my own well being and mental health. I haven't been able to make any local mum friends because of lockdown so I might be really lonely next year and want to go back to work for those reasons. Time will tell!

SearchingTheSkies · 18/05/2020 15:58

@APD1981 It's lovely that you have those options. It's difficult to know as a ftm how we'll feel when faced with the reality of looking after a little one. I think I'd like to go back to teaching part time if possible, but there's no guarantee my school would even have part time hours available. I'm missing being in school at the moment, but I don't think I'd cope with ft work and looking after a young child. However, finances will have to be a deciding factor I think, unless I win the lottery in the next year 😉
