@BirdGarden @Kez437 @HaichMal good to hear I'm not alone in worrying but also great to hear how good your wee one got on with the new baby @HaichMal :)

chocolate26 · 29/05/2020 11:19

@newbyxx congratulations!! So glad your little boy is here safe and well 😊

LillianFullStop · 29/05/2020 11:22

@Rinoa - my sister will be over to look after DD when I give birth and will probably stay a couple of days. Other than that just us, DD won't be in nursery but at least DH will be on paternity leave. I'm having an ELCS so it will certainly be an interesting first weeks!

LillianFullStop · 29/05/2020 11:23

Oh and happy 39w to my due date buddies @Rinoa and @Busylizzie85! So close now!

Rinoa · 29/05/2020 11:30

Happy 39 weeks @LillianFullStop @Busylizzie85! have you felt any twinges hinting labour? MW yesterday said hes not engaged :( but I do feel lots of BH these days. felt a few back craps but think it might be from cleaning lol no show or change in discharge I can see....I have a feeling mine is going to be late!

How long do your DHs get paternity leave? Mine is self employed so doesn't get anything paid. He will take 3 weeks off I think though just to help out.

Pegase · 29/05/2020 11:36

Congratulations @newbyxx ! Has anyone started the postnatal thread yet for breastfeeding woes?!

Busylizzie85 · 29/05/2020 11:42

Yes happy 39 weeks ladies @Rinoa @LillianFullStop

@Rinoa I have had a couple of twinges and felt her very low and got excited but nothing today! I'm with you and now think I'll be late after weeks of thinking I'll be early.

chocolate26 · 29/05/2020 11:56

@Rinoa my DH is currently furloughed from work so he's at home all the time at the moment. However if he is back before baby arrives he will take two weeks leave but he has to use his annual leave for this otherwise it will be unpaid! The third week he is planning to take the Monday and Friday off so only having a three day week the week he goes back.

AmyMaria2 · 29/05/2020 13:37

@Pegase that's a good idea, we'll have to do that when more babies have arrived!! Breastfeeding struggle is real! Lol xxx

SearchingTheSkies · 29/05/2020 16:34

@Rinoa My DH will get two weeks' paternity leave, but then it will mostly be just me, which I'm ok with. I plan to mostly stay in bed/on the sofa to make sure I properly recover. My family are all very close by, but not sure they can do much if not allowed in other houses. It will be nice to meet my mum for a walk with baby in pram.

BabyBird20 · 29/05/2020 17:17

Random question but is anyone else really struggling to decide on names? I've known this little one will be a boy since December and yet we're reaching critical stage and we can't decide what to call him!! 😬💙

AnonyHB · 29/05/2020 17:36

Yey congrats @newbyxx hope you’re recovering well and enjoying the newborn bubble!

Had a stressful afternoon. I went to midwife appointment yesterday (36 weeks) and baby still above the 97th percentile big but midwife didn't seem too concerned and said they're not doing scans at the moment. Then happened to speak to my friend who is a doctor that afternoon just to catch up. She said sounded weird and can I send her a picture of my chart. Anyway she asked her friend who said I'd be entitled to a scan. I decided to leave it but then my friend messaged today and said did I follow up and that this could be a sign of diabetes and the fact baby is big is very concerning. Freaked me out and I phoned the hospital in tears. They basically said the midwife was right and I felt so stupid. They said 'so the midwife had no concerns, but your friend said you need a scan...' I felt like a right idiot! The hospital basically said that even if I had a scan then they wouldn't do anything if baby is big anyway, and there would be signs in my urine if I had diabetes. Relieved but a bit annoyed at my friend for stressing me out so much!

Magpiefeather · 29/05/2020 18:42

@BabyBird20 we are the same! We have a shortlist but I’m not sure I love any of them enough... will wait til baby is here and decide when we meet him I think!

@peetieswie oh that does sound like a very stressful day. I’m sorry you went through that. I’ve found doctor friends often have a very different outlook - I suppose they only see people who have been referred by midwife so maybe her mind automatically jumped to “we would be scanning you for that”. Also with percentiles, I always think someone has to be at the top or bottom of them, it’s still within the range of normal. I know that doesn’t help and it’s natural to worry. I hope you can have a calm and relaxing evening though after all that.

peetieswie · 29/05/2020 18:57

Thanks @magpiefeather. Was just annoying because I wasn't stressing and had trusted the midwife, and then she made me feel like something was wrong and I should be worried. I'm sure the midwife knows what he is doing so I shouldn't be worrying.

SearchingTheSkies · 29/05/2020 19:12

@BabyBird20 Have you got a shortlist?
We have got a first name sorted but can't decide on a middle name. I'm jotting down names I sort of like, and I'm hoping to eventually find a name that feels just right.

AmyMaria2 · 29/05/2020 19:16

@BabyBird20 don't worry to much, my baby boys 2 weeks old and we have a name we are 99% on but because we have so long and extra time because of the virus to register him I'm not certain I won't change my mind🙈🤣 x

At the moment this is Baby Ace 💙

Due June 2020: thread 7. The one where babies appear
BirdGarden · 29/05/2020 19:41

@BabyBird20 - I don't know what we're having but we only picked a boy's name last week too. I was quite happy to wait until baby arrived, and see if they're a boy, then decide (like @AmyMaria2 I was going to use the closure of registration offices to my advantage!). Hubby wanted to sort it out though so after 3 weeks of threatening to have a conversation, we finally did at 37 weeks! And something just came to us, just as it did with our girl's name. Everyone said it was and I was dubious - I was wrong Grin

BirdGarden · 29/05/2020 19:41

Correction, it was 38 weeks...

APD1981 · 29/05/2020 19:57

@Amymaria2 Baby Ace is absolutely beautiful. Seeing him makes me so much more excited for my baby to come!

As for names, from the very start I wanted to name the baby after my late dad who died in July last year. I don't know the sex so we need 2 lots of names! My DH's late mum had a maiden name that is also a boy's name so that seemed fitting to use a middle name, too. Fortunately DH was very, very fond of my dad and is very happy to name the baby after him if it's a boy! As for girls names, I really liked a name that could be shortened to another name I liked and a name that DH would sometimes use affectionately with me. I didn't mention it to him as he wasn't ready to that conversation til after 20 weeks but in the meantime we watched Junior Bake Off and our favourite contestant was a little girl with the name I liked! That was really helpful because DH then agreed on that name. So we've been sorted since pretty early on.

Pegase · 29/05/2020 20:15

@peetieswie not to worry you but the whole reason I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes is because of my 36 wk scan showing 95th percentile baby. I passed GTT in 1st trimester and at 28 weeks and have never had anything to indicate an issue in my urine.

I had full bloods done after scan and one came back high - am now testing my blood glucose 6x a day and it is over the correct level. Not by much but has still led to a big change in my care and plans for delivery.

MissisBee · 29/05/2020 20:17

Baby Ace is gorgeous!!
We're the opposite with names - had settled on one quite early on but I keep having last minute doubts. However, no matter how much I trawl the baby name threads, I can't come up with anything better!!

BabyBird20 · 29/05/2020 21:29

@amymaria Baby Ace is lush!! Ours is currently referred to as Beanie as he was baked bean shaped when we had our viability scan at 8weeks! 😂

@SearchingTheSkies and @Magpiefeather we have a list but I change my mind on it almost daily now! Nothing feels quite right! DH loves a name I came up with early on but I'm not sure any more as it's very old fashioned! I think @BirdGarden we'll end up doing the same and waiting til he's here and hoping the right name pops up!! We do have the advantage of the registry offices being closed at least!! 😂

BabyBird20 · 29/05/2020 21:37

@peetieswie if it helps my bean is 97th for belly circumference, 97th for fundal height (still not sure what that bit means!), and 105th for head and they aren't doing anything differently for me for the birth. Had the extra growth scans because of his head, they're not worried about the rest of him at all it seems! They've never found signs of GD in my urine tests or anything either. It's awful how much stress and anxiety there is in pregnancy isn't it!!

UKtoSK · 30/05/2020 04:18

Congratulations @newbyxx!! Hope you’re both doing well.

@AmyMaria2 it’s lovely to see photos of your little boy.

Just had my 36 week appointment. Had a stressful time with the non stress test. I guess the monitor wasn’t positioned well and it kept losing baby’s heartbeat and then once it dropped to the point that a red light came on and started beeping but there was no one in the room for me to call and ask for help or ask if baby was ok. Had to call my husband on the phone and ask him to get someone because I was about to start crying. Turned out the doctor was monitoring it from her room but I didn’t know that. Had to do another 20 minutes of it after having a scan just to make sure everything was ok and thankfully it was. Baby is also head down again after being breech for 2 or 3 weeks but I was so stressed out by that point I couldn’t even be excited about that. Just relieved now that everything is ok. Weekly checks from this point. I’d been expecting to book a c-section today for 39ish weeks so it’s weird to suddenly have no idea again when she’ll come.
