Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello ladies

Firstly thank you all so much for your lovely messages after my rant about this house move - it was so very much appreciated. The update is... well basically we've just had confirmation that a solicitor lower down the chain has lied several times - the upshot of it is tht we still haven't exchanged despite promises every day we will. I got very cross and shouty this morning (which isn't in my nature really) as just so fed up of being fobbed off. So what this ultimately means is that I will have to move alone next week when DH is away for work

Anyway... I went to Mamas & Papas today to have a look at the pushchairs... the one I liked best and found easiest to drive was the most expensive! oops! It's one where you clip all the different bits onto a chassis. I wondered if this was actually a good idea? It's such a hard decision to make when you've never wheeled a baby around at all so I wonder what your experiences are with these things? The only thing I do know is I much prefer the ones where the handle is like a loop bar going right across rather than the 2 little handles.

Over to you oh so knowledgeable ladies! xxx

ps I have been known to eat chocolate and maltesers at 6am so 9am is pretty late in the day for me! xxx

Bettymamma · 12/09/2007 16:48

Neuro - make the bra straps shorter - they'll hike the boobs up more! I do know what you mean though - they feel like they are sagging....

Haven't meant to scare anyone with my stories. Couldn't have been that bad or I wouldn't be doing it again. Like I said - I just didn't realise and should have made sure my DH knew - that I didn't have to and didn't want to have to go on my back.

mixedmama · 12/09/2007 16:50

beckyAu - just wanted to say that i was the same about the handle bars until I realised everyone else had a basket and handle bars they could put shopping into / onto and I just had my basket. Of course if you drive this is probably completely irrelevant.

about the house for you. this will be me in a few weeks.

MrsMcJnr · 12/09/2007 16:59

Neuro ? I got measured at Bravissimo for bras at about 10 weeks as I?d already expanded quite a lot. The bras I bought then were underwired and I was assured that was fine as long as the wires didn?t press into the flesh but rested on bone. I now need new bras again so am going back on Sat but I think it makes sense this time to get bras that are also nursing bras or else they won?t last long ? we?ll see

Sorry Barristermum I was just voicing fears about the whole monitoring thing but the whole hand thing was new to me too!! Do you think anyone will notice if I have a few G&Ts for fortification before it all like my Mum did? (though she had 6 doubles! ) so glad all was well at the scan ? amazing isn?t it? funny about your pressie for DH I am currently researching camcorders as we?d like one and my folks want to get me one as a joint birthday/Christmas ? see what happens when you are a December baby? we?ll be getting mine from Gibralter when we are over in Spain but I am trying to get a feel for what I?m looking for. Sure DH will love it ? hope he has time to read the instructions before Beanie arrives!

MrsBiscuit · 12/09/2007 17:10

Neuro - I went from underwired to non-wired a couple of months ago (size shot up right at the beginning but tailed off now) and I've noticed a difference in how my boobs are sitting .

Where did you get your maternity bras? I haven't liked any that I've seen.

Can't believe all the decisions that have to be made about the birth. My head is still stuck firmly in the sand .

BeckyAu - still keeping fingers crossed for you.

BeckyAu · 12/09/2007 17:12

Hi MM... that's a thought about shopping.... but i think i've seen some hooks that clip on to a bar handle for bags? Dunno... it's not something i've ever paid that much attention to up to now!

All I can say about your move is ask around as much as you can to find a solicitor! Though I have to say, with hindsight I would seriously consider doing the conveyancing myself. A great deal of it appears to be legwork and persisitance (which is what's not been done for us) and if you could employ a legal professional to check paperwork on a daily rate that might be so much better - it's the lack of control and lack of information that has driven us crazy. I don't know if this is all actually possible! I am just a teeny tiny bit anti at the moment though we might have just had a bad one off experience!

BeckyAu · 12/09/2007 17:15

Thanks Mrs Biscuit!
It turns out that half the exchange calls have been made but as a solicitor further down the chain goes home at 5 the whole thing has fallen apart and we have to start again tomorrow. I give in! xxx

Neuro · 12/09/2007 17:42

Mrsbiscuit i went to M&S. I got two maternity bras and two sports bras. I much prefer the sports one though.

mixedmama · 12/09/2007 18:54

parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/0,,bpc36hvb,00.html

This is an online birth plan. It is (IMO) too detailed and a little freaky but might be a bit useful to see whats available to you. I also think it is phrased a little too severely.

MamaMaiasaura · 12/09/2007 21:29

you have been all busy today Managed to get on (avoided ironing ) Am off to bed very soon as very tired.

Mixedmama - re the underwired bra thing I spoke to my MW about this. She is breastfeeding atm and still in underwired as she is well endowed and doesnt get support from other bra's. I was a 34G, but think i have now gone up a cup size so need new bra. Not sure I will go for maternity atm as last time I was 34DD pre preg and shot up. THe lack of support from the bras made my boobs droop a bit and I also think it contributed to me getting so big. As long as underwired fits properly then they are ok. When they dont they can cause problems.

MOtherofz - DP just told me work are giving him a mobile so he will be able to call me easily and me him when in Japan

Ds has been a sweetie again although he is a little stroppy about seeing his dad at the weekend. Me and ds were 'naughty' at the dinner table and dp nearly made me eat my dinner elsewhere (ds thought this hilarious, me and dp often mess around like that)

gingeme · 12/09/2007 21:51

Good evening ladies. Had a quick flick through the thread.
Ive never heard of anyone being strapped down during labour tbh I couldnt think of any reason why you would be.
Yes it is 5cm you have to be before your allowed to get in the birthing pool. I had the opposite effect when I got in the water it speeded my contractions up.
I used to watch the baby channel when I was expecting ds3 and used to think how un imaginative the Americans where when it came to labour and birth. Lots of epidoodles.
I had everything they could throw at me with my first birth and 'missed' most of it.
G&A with my second one which was much better except I had a migrane after. Think I over breathed.
We went swimming this afternoon. Was so lovely feeling weightless. Bean kicked round like mad. Think he enjoyed it too
Well off to bed now. Night all x

MamaMaiasaura · 12/09/2007 21:54

Not literally strapped down strapped to monitor and not allowed to leave bed.

beller · 13/09/2007 08:04

Morning all!

Neuro - Was that dream after readng about that poor little girl that was savaged ? My dreams have gone off the dial..have given up trying to work them out!

Beckyau - Sorry you have to move with DH away, sooo annoying! Do you have lots of other help?

Gingeme - Glad you enjoyed swimming! Im going to buy a cosutume this weekend, and start swimming as well.

Hope everyone is well. I had to go out with clients last night and didnt get home until 10.30...feel cream crackered today! Too long a day, left at 5.30 yest mng......will mostly be trying not to fall asleep today i think. I have yoga tonight which im looking forward to!
xx

MotherofZ · 13/09/2007 08:08

Morning all!!

Nothing much to say this, other than hope you all are well on this marvelous grey day.

Feel very guilty this morning as I realised how bad my 'pig out' was yesterday. Ate:

Crisps

Quarter box of Roses

A big fat chocolate muffin

Krsipy Kream Doughnut

Grilled kebab with nan

Doner Kebab nad chips (well had the grilled kebab and then shared hubby's doner kebab)

All butter croissant

It's not that bad is it??

(Probably is at 999999999 calories yesterday)

Must be good today!!!

Talking about, birthing programmes on televison; I find that the American ones tend to over dramatise the whole birthing process, which can make it a little scary, were as the British ones are far more realistic. I tend not to watch the birthing programmes too much as they always make me cry anyway...!!

MotherofZ.... I think the positive way for you to look at your consumption is not that of calories which is always horrid (avoid at all costs) but just think that you provided LO with all food groups, and a variety of flavours :-)

BeckyAu · 13/09/2007 08:35

As long as you had an orange or strawberry cream from the Roses then you had some fruit xx

MotherofZ · 13/09/2007 08:44

Cheers Becky - although I hate the creams and always go for the caramel ones first! So LO prob had nothing useful yesterday.

Got my fingers crossed for you - hopefuly the move might be sorted today??

OP posts:
gingeme · 13/09/2007 09:02

Thankyou for sorting that one out Awen. My 2nd was a bit like that. Had the monitor strapped me nearly the whole time The bloody mw was a cow anyway. I was on my own,exp looking after ds1 and Mum had flu, and she kept saying 'you wont have this baby today!'. Luckily by 7pm she finnished her shift and a lovely mw was on duty and she pushed me straight up to labour ward where I had ds2 by 8.30 pm.
Motherofz oh dear on your food consumption yesterday. Still a little of what you fancy does you good I suppose
Well not doing much today. Waiting for ds3's nursery teacher to visit at 9.30 the meeting a friend at Clown Town at 11.
Have a good day all

beller · 13/09/2007 09:39

Motherofz - dont beat yourself up! all have days like that im sure and a great way of looking at it Beckyau!

ladylush · 13/09/2007 09:58

Hello ladies - not long to go now Just popped on to say hi to those who remember me from the due in new year thread especially Mrs McJnr, Awen, beller and gingeme - apologies if missed anyone out. I had my appointment at the recurrent m/c clinic yesterday and had a scan and bloods done. Upshot of scan is that nothing found which would account for 1st trimester m/c - so that's good. Have to wait 12-13 weeks for chromosome test results and can't remember how long it takes for clotting ones but it's not as long. It was a good feeling to finally be seen

gingeme · 13/09/2007 10:24

Hi ladylush sounds like your doing well.It realy is such a relief isnt it when all your tests and bloods go well?
We are all so busy making new little beings I find it quite overwhelming sometimes to think of all the new little babies being born in January. Ofcourse not only ours but all over the place
I saw a tiny little baby girl yesterday all wrapped up in a sling on her Mummys tummy and I just smiled a knowing smile to her
Ah lovely.

ladylush · 13/09/2007 10:26

Yes they look so cute in slings. Good thing about winter babies is that you won't get too hot using a sling. Ds was summer baby and it got rather hot and sticky.

BeckyAu · 13/09/2007 10:50

HOORAY!!!!!!! We have exchanged! Hooray hooray hooray! So I shall spend the rest of the day packing like a mad woman as we move... tomorrow! How crazy is that huh? Mind you I've got my mum and a friend coming round to lend a hand and my mum said she was up at 5am wondering hat would happen and she baked a tray of chocolate brownies! What a good old girl! So that's my meals sorted for the rest of the day! So MotherofZ... don't fret about yesterday - I'll be just as bad today! xxx
