Hi, just found out after a long time trying! Haven't really told anyone yet so thought some ladies in the same position might want somewhere to share symptoms/stories/worries. Doesn't feel real yet and that 12 week scan seems a loooooong way off!! 😂

Aaah, so happy to hear from you @Jessem29 and so pleased to be reading good news! I knew it would go well anyway! 😊 You are right - it's getting really exciting now that we are all approaching the 12/13 week scans. 🥰

Martina2311 · 30/01/2020 09:39

@IslayBrigid is your scan on Feb 19th? If yes we are on the same date 😁 I was supposed to have mine next week but they've changed it as it was too early.

kersh33 · 30/01/2020 10:15

It's lovely to hear everyone's news on their scans! The second trimester is in sight! 😊

I have my next appointment on Monday with my gynaecologist when I'll be 10 weeks. I'm assuming I'll get a scan then - at least I'm hoping so! I've been holding on since my scan at 6 weeks which was to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. There wasn't much to see then so really looking forward to being able to see something that looks a bit more like a baby!

Am going to have to tell work sooner than I planned as they want to send me on a work trip to sub-Saharan Africa in the first week of March with high malaria risk and none of the recommended anti-malarials are suitable for pregnancy. 🙁 I don't think this is going to go down well as I'm not sure whether they'll be able to find cover at short notice and it's for a really big contract. I'm just waiting for my scan on Monday to definitely confirm all is OK and will tell them then.

IslayBrigid · 30/01/2020 11:15

@Martina2311 yes mine is on 19th Feb! Yay we can debrief together after :)
@kersh33 I know what you mean, I usually have to travel for work too, to potential Zika countries. I told work very early on to avoid this. They were fine with it! They can't not be fine with it. Against the law to discriminate due to pregnancy. Xx

@IslayBrigid I know deep down that there isn't much they can do about it - but I've been so involved in developing this opportunity and the travel is for so soon I feel I'm letting them down a bit. And I know it will be hard to find someone to replace me at such short notice.

But it can't be helped, I can't go so that's that really. I suppose it's not so different to if I'd had an accident and was in hospital or whatever.

IslayBrigid · 30/01/2020 12:33

Wow, four of us on the same day! That's so cool. I hope we all get good news. I'm sure we will!

Jessem29 · 30/01/2020 13:17

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. It's so lovely having you all to speak too! I am still finding it hard to let myself relax and be excited. But its defo feeling more real! My scan is a week on monday. Wow how amazing you so many of you have them the same day! Amazing! Xx

Lucy5546 · 30/01/2020 13:20

Hey ladies. I haven't posted in a while but i have been reading. Im so delighted for everyone who went for their first scans. Im about 8+5 now and starting to feel like im pregnant. Boobs are gettin harder by the day and the nausea is starting to creep in. Although its not too bad yet. But im still soo bloated. Have my 12 week scan 25th feb and i feel like its dragging in. I get really excited when i see scan pictures etc but then i tell myself to stop. I really wanna be excited but part of me keeps saying hold on another few weeks. Am i wrong? Should i just let meself get excited now?

Martina2311 · 30/01/2020 13:42

@IslayBrigid @FoxtrotSkarloey @Mrs71 wow, I cant believe its 4 of us on the same date 😁 Mine is at 9 am. They told me I can try to call later in case they have some cancellations for the 17th, just because that when I'm actually not working so it wouldnt affect my work. It still feels so long away tho. 🙈

Just to confirm. Am I correct that an employer cant deduct any pay or the time you need off for your appointment from you holiday entitlement?

Thanks @FoxtrotSkarloey that's what I thought I've read. At the moment I requested time off for the 12 week scan without them knowing I am pregnant, but maybe I can discuss that after as I think its assumed I'm taking a half day off from my holidays.

Im really looking forward to saying it at work so I dont have to be hiding anything and feel more relaxed and supported.

Vialarooski · 30/01/2020 16:54

Hi everyone! We are just back from an early scan, I'm 9w1. All went really well, heartbeat strong, little pip was wriggling about like a jumping jelly bean. Soo small! But I'm very happy and hugely relieved! Now countdown to 12w scan and making it public! ❤️

ml01omm · 30/01/2020 17:53

I am feeling a bit disgruntled. I went out to dinner with a friend last night. I drank coke ( not unusual as we both had to drive to get to the pub in the middle of no where).

Yet some how I think she is on to me - as she spent what felt like 10 mins goading me into trying to tell her I was pregnant.

I helled out and did not budge or tell her, as I do not feel ready to shar yet. I have no idea what might have given me away for her to start with the Inquisition.

I have drinks with a different friend tonight.

I just want to have the 12 weeks scan - I hate all this lying and sneaking about!

Mammasj · 31/01/2020 10:58

@Vialarooski so happy that your scan went well! 🎉 you can relax a little bit now and try to enjoy! I am absolutely terrified of having mine tomorrow and I've convinced myself that something has already gone wrong 😥 I feel like I don't even want to go. I've had a really bad week in work as there's been lots of bad news for colleagues so I think I'm just expecting it to continue. I really hope I'll be able to update you with good news tomorrow xx

kersh33 · 31/01/2020 11:05

🤞 for you @Mammasj The lead up to the scan is so nerve-wracking isn't it!

@ml01omm I always think it's a bit unfair for people to try and worm it out from you - I think people should respect that you will announce your pregnancy when YOU are ready.

Having said that I went to see my best friend yesterday and she took one look at me and guessed! I was planning to tell her then anyway so it wasn't a big deal but would love to know how she worked it out! She says she just knew as soon as she opened the door!

Mammasj · 31/01/2020 11:22

Thank you @kersh33 😘 xx

Mrs71 · 31/01/2020 12:42

@Vialarooski glad your scan went well! 😊 I know you were feeling really anxious like me. I'm 10 weeks today I'm really trying to hold on till the 19th but I also want a scan done privately but I'm also too scared to book one. 😂 So many different emotions.

@ml01omm I'm the same as you I haven't told anyone yet either, it really annoys me when people try and guess. I'm avoiding going out with people for this very reason as I don't want to people to start guessing.

@Mammasj good luck with your scan tomorrow! I hope everything goes well, I'm sure it will be 😊 x

Mammasj · 31/01/2020 14:23

@Mrs71 Thank you 😊 I hope so.

I've had my date for the week scan and it's the 21st Feb. Given that it's the 1st Feb tomo, it feels like its not that far away now! The 19th is even closer so you're doing great to hold out!

Stressful times xx

Mammasj · 31/01/2020 14:24

*12 week scan I meant 🤦🏽‍♀️ lol xx

Vialarooski · 31/01/2020 19:45

Thank you, it's was really nice to have the scan and get the reassurance but if I'm honest it hasn't stopped me worrying lol. I'm still feeling just as worried. My husband has basically told everyone we are pregnant after this 9 week scan, and it's made me feel so pressured! I'm not bothered that people know because it's only close friends and family and those would be the ones we would turn to if anything went wrong but still makes me feel like we've tempted fete!

Ummmm can I talk about discharge....sorry if it's a bit groce or tmi but the last couple days after I've had a wee and wiped, I've had like clear jelly kind of discharge. I can't find anything online to say it's bad but just wondering if it's normal or something I should ask my midwife/doc about....

@Mammasj good luck for tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you! I got my 12 week scan date today too, 25th Feb (I'll be 13 weeks by then)! Feels like a lifetime away but hopefully it goes super quick and all is happy and healthy in the meantime! X

Mammasj · 31/01/2020 20:00

@Vialarooski Thank you lovely 💜

The discharge sounds totally normal, I've had some myself and in my last pregnancies, it ramped up as time went on. Panty liners were an absolute must and were my best friend from about 4/5 months onwards! One of the less attractive sides of pregnancy for sure (in addition to piles) 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂 xx

Mrs71 · 31/01/2020 20:38

@Mammasj thanks! Trying my best to hold on till the 19th but don't know if I'll last!! xx

@Vialarooski I did have some discharge like that at the beginning but not recently.
