Hi everybody and welcome to Picklewoo.
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to the hormone question either but hopefully somebody will.
Just back in the UK after a lovely week in France (v. envious of you Yardette going off to Paris this weekend ).
I've got my NHS dating scan this afternoon at 3.10pm and I'm getting a bit nervous now! I've got lots of other things going on too so my mind is all over the place today. I'm trying to keep calm and not stress too much. DH has taken the afternoon off work and is coming with me so I'm sure it will be an emotional moment when we finally see the LO on the screen!
Good luck to anybody else having a scan today and will report back later!

preggersagain · 10/09/2007 11:21

hope everyone had a good weekend, i'm counting down to my scan on wednesday and finally finding out how preggers i am!!! (i really must get a diary and keep track of these things!)

i do have another question though- how is it possible to be so earth shatteringly tired (falling asleep at my desk, unable to make it past 9.15pm) and then have insomnia!?

I fall into bed totally shattered, feeling like i could sleep for a week, then come 3 am every morning without fail i am wide awake clock watching until i fall back asleep just after 6, only to be woken at half past six by the alarm!

GRRRRRR!!!

glammama · 10/09/2007 11:26

Morning all and welcome to picklewoo (sounds like the name my sister would use but I've checked!!). I'm sorry I don't know tha answer to the hormone question. Have you tried posting in antenatal topic? Someone is bound to know.
Glad to hear all about your good weekends.Imjin, I can't believe you stayed up till 3am. Respect! And very of you Yardette, twins and Paris! What more could a woman want! Hope you have les bonnes vacances. I spent the weekend becoming addicted to Facebook.Omg, how exciting is that thing?

Have a good Monday all, I better go back to my trainees........

Brazilianmum · 10/09/2007 11:29

Good luck to all those with scans this week. I have my second MW app tomorrow so will be working from home (prob watching Grey's Anatomy I finished downloading all day).

Yardette I have a recomendation for you when you are in Paris. For yummy cakes you must go to Rose bakery, 49 rue des Martyrs. It's owned by an English woman and her French husband. I bought the book and the recipes are amazing. Have a good time.

After catching up on all the posts and reading about Thai food I really fancy some curry. Might get some for lunch.

I haven't felt the bean move yet, must start paying attention. I bought a baby heart monitor from Argos but it only works from 20 weeks, so very jealous of you with Dopler machines.

HQ - happy belated birthday
MerryBerry - your kid is adorable. Love the pic of the cuddly toys on the line, I do that to my dogs toys and he keeps running around the line barking at them.

imjin100 · 10/09/2007 11:54

preggersagain, the almighty question - I'm with you - totally shattered and then up half the night...goodness only knows how those of you with children are coping!
scan news...I can't wait - love hearing.
I am a bit envious of brazilianmum having a 2nd mw appointment, I have yet to have one....mine is next monday which i am looking forward to. not sure why but perhaps to hear a heart beat?!

preggersagain · 10/09/2007 12:18

thank god i'm not the only one! I'm starting to feel a bit dazed now- sleep deprevation and weird dreams, now there's a fun pregnancy combination!

HolidaysQueen · 10/09/2007 13:24

Morning all - and welcome to picklewoo!

I have a question and thought someone might be able to help. My due date as calced using my last period etc. is 24th March, but the scan came up with a date of 27th March. Does that mean that the midwife will change my due date to 27th March or do they tend to stick with the calced one? I had the scan after I met the midwife so didn't get chance to ask her. I probably need to let HR know at work fairly soon (for a couple of reasons I need to tell them sooner than really necessary) and not sure what date to quote.

Thanks!

gingercat12 · 10/09/2007 13:33

HolidayQueen My MW left the main Expected Due Date box empty at the booking apointment, and the hospital filled that out at the scan. From then on they only cared about the date predicted at the scan. Hope this helps.

merryberry · 10/09/2007 14:49

thanks brazilianmum and hello picklewoo. sorry i don't know owt about papp-a.

have just come across a poster on another thread called TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench and am laughing myself silly.

cricri · 10/09/2007 17:36

Hi all,
Got back from my scan a couple of hours ago and it's not good news I'm afraid: apparently the baby died at 6 weeks. Can't believe my body just carried on regardless with ms, tiredness etc.
I'm still in shock at the moment but I've been looking at the miscarriage threads and found some of the others who had a m/c from our March thread so I'm taking comfort from their positive attitudes.
I wish you all the best with your pregnancies and I'll be looking in on you all from time to time. Thanks for your help and support. xx

turtle23 · 10/09/2007 18:22

oh cricri i am so so sorry. How utterly devastating. I wish you all the best. hugs.

merryberry · 10/09/2007 18:23

cricri that's an awful outcome from your long awaited scan. i am so sorry to hear your news. i hope you and your dh are doing ok this evening. xxxxxxxxx

merryberry · 10/09/2007 18:48

picklewoo, there's a couple of threads about low papp a in the archives if you search on 'papp a'.

away from MN when I had a peek at the medical literature, it sounds like a really mushy area of medicine with interpretation and predictions based on levels of papp a reading a bit like astrology in its wooliness. i think you really need to ask the docs more on this one. and if they are say 'slightly low', be of very good cheer about it, that's med-speak for being just outside a 'normal' range. And normal ranges have plenty of wobble in them in most conditions.

monthlymayhem · 10/09/2007 20:50

Cricri - I'm so sorry to hear that, hope you and DH are getting all the love and hugs you need xxx

Picklewoo - hello! Sorry I've never heard of the Paap-thingy-me-bob, am sure someone on mumsnet will know though.

Hope everyone had good weekends!

We had DH's parents and also his brother and SIL round for dinner who didn't know our news yet, so it was nice to tell them (lmjin100, can't imagine how you coped with 50+, it was stressful enough cooking for 6!). I think we stole the thunder of the SIL though as she announced that they are also ttc...

We've now got loads of really yummy things leftover though - white and dark chocolate tart, maple fudge, pastries, after dinner mints and lots of crisps and dip etc - its's really tempting just to line them all up on the worksurface and 'hoover' them in one go

yardette · 10/09/2007 20:53

Cricri - so sorry to hear your news. you take care of yourself xx

yardette · 10/09/2007 20:59

Imjin - hello and thanks also for your funny words!
Brazilian mum - cheers for the tip on Paris - will look it up and send you all virtual cake.
Merryberry and Glammama - your kids are lovely!!
glammama - that link to the twins plus sextuplet is very cheesy but also inspirational - my word they are mental to have had 8 kids!

right, off to watch silent witness (one of my favourite dramas on BBC , a close second to Spooks).
have good days all and good look to those of you with scans tomorrow.
and good luck to all of you with insomnia tonight!

imjin100 · 10/09/2007 22:11

crici - so sorry to hear your news. HOpe you are both ok and getting loads of hugs and support from each other.
glad you hear you've already found the threads of others.
big love to you both at this time.

timmyinatizzy · 11/09/2007 08:55

Morning everyone. Sorry to hear your bad news cricri. Its always a wonder what our bodies put us through.

HQ. I thought I was a week further when I went for my scan, but when they measured junior they put me back a week. Don't forget that the original due dates are based on the first day of your last period. Your little one could have been conceived at any time during your cycle, early on or later on, hence the redating.

I'm starting to feel more pregnant now. I even think that I have little bump developing! Or is that from too much chocolate I'm 14+4 and the last 6 weeks have flown by. I think time will go even faster now the dsd's are back at school. Before I know it will be their 9th birthday and half term. Hope everyone has a nice day.

turtle23 · 11/09/2007 09:21

Morning all...broke down and ordered a doppler and am anxiously awaiting the courier! Have my scan this afternoon and wanted to hear heartbeat before going to scan. How mad have I become? Hope everyone is well.

HolidaysQueen · 11/09/2007 10:01

Good luck with your scan, turtle!

imjin100 · 11/09/2007 10:02

Good luck today turtle, can't believe how easy it is to become obsessed by these little beans!

good days to all, just enjoyed a hot chocolate and a banana - sort of healthy or am I just kidding myself!

preggersagain · 11/09/2007 10:03

turtle- just remember that it might take a few tries to get the heartbeat! i still have days where i have to jig aroun=d and get bean to move before i can find it! It is reasuring though!

HolidaysQueen · 11/09/2007 10:04

I thought you might all find these pictures amusing. I think I want a bald baby now!

timmyinatizzy · 11/09/2007 10:16

rofl

I'm with you HQ, a bald one please.

preggersagain · 11/09/2007 10:20
