Congratulations to Sparks, Filbrit, PLP and ECATLM and welcome to the world Iris, Natalia, Cerys and baby Enormous I can't believe how fast these babies are appearing now (Although it might not have felt that way to their mums!)

36 weeks today!

sophus · 02/09/2007 17:55

do we need to be updating the stats thread so we can keep track of all these lovely new additions to the world?
S
(39 + 5 and ready to throttle someone if this baby doesn't come soon)

emj23 · 02/09/2007 18:11

I was wondering that too Sophus, are we having a new thread to add the new arrivals to? Sorry you're feeling fed up by the way, hope it all kicks off for you soon.

FlossALump · 02/09/2007 18:40

Aww, PLP and ECATLM huge congratulations to you both. Lots and lots of girls - looks like the scans are proving to mostly be right!!

Am enjoying some peace and quiet as Dp and DS are at the park, although I am kind of wondering why they are there still And looking outside it seems to have rained, double .

Have had a relatively easy day, lunch out, a bit of food shopping and then home to sort the house out, which without DS around I managed in about an hr! Dp decided to err, take matters into his own hands to try and get baby out (he's not keen on his new job!). Its been about 6 months since we last did. And in the few moments it took, his mobile rang 3 times, house phone twice and someone knocked at the door. He wasn't best pleased! And the only effect it seems to have had is make my pelvic floor feel about 3 times heavier. Ah well.

Anyone else realise its a full moon tonight?? Any of us going to live up to delivering for it?!! Fingers crossed.

Chatty, I really have no experience of induction so can't really comment. I think I'd just listen to my own gut feeling though and go with it - only you know how you feel about it. FWIW I know people who have had good and bad labours being induced. Just like I know people with good and bad natural labours! Hope you can decide without too much heartache.

38 + 4.

Tinkjon · 02/09/2007 18:41

Lots of congratulations to the Enormous family!! Goodness, every time I log on, another one of you has popped

dal21 · 02/09/2007 18:44

Huge congrats ECALTM!! What fantastic news - I am so glad to be at QC, even though i reckon it'll be the op theatre for me. Ho hum!

We really should update the stats list; I am interested to see who is popping early and who isnt.

Well I have prepared for tomorrows appt, just incase my obs decides to deliver me. Legs (and other bits) shaved, nails painted (clear nail polish)...you get the picture. Which means that there is no way this baby is arriving tomorrow. It will arrive when I am a mess and not all groomed! LOL!

Tink - please dont worry - I am sure that wont happen! Positive vibes coming your way!

Sophus - sending you lots of birthing vibes. Hope it starts for you soon!

Right, I may take a look at the stats list and give it a go!

dal21 · 02/09/2007 18:45

Floss - LOL at DH and stepping up to the mark! well done him!

Wow - Congratulations to Sparks, ecalm, Filbrit and PLP on your gorgeous baby girls - lovely names too !!

Its so exciting now that we are all having these babies isn't it ?

Chatty - I was induced with DD2 with the gel and it was really quick ! I was able to use the birthing pool and just get out to be monitored etc. It was a much better experience than DD1 - long labour, ventouse delivery, stitches etc !!

sorry just have to offload as feeling abit upset and DH too busy gardening to talk to me ! I have been to hospital today with Eloise as the mw not happy with her weight - quite stressful as she has lost more than 10% of birth weight. I am sure she is fine - just a sleepy feeder and my milk didn't come in until day 6 (sure that's because she was c section ?? anyone know ?)Anyway they have advised formula top ups at every feed and will weigh her again mon or tues.
IS that true about peppermint tea as I ahve been drinking that to help with the wind problem - maybe that's not helping the milk supply ?

Anyway love and birthing vibes to all those ready to pop !

xx

dal21 · 02/09/2007 19:54

Amyclaramum -

Have googled peppermint tea/ breastfeeding and yup - there is warnings to say it can reduce milk levels. Try switching to camomile instead.

Hope bub puts on weight soon
xx

amyclaramum · 02/09/2007 20:00

thank you dal - its cammomile from now on !

EmLouT · 02/09/2007 20:11

Dal - sorry to be a pain but I seem to have fallen off the stats. Any chance you could add me on. - EmLouT, due 14th September, 1st baby, expecting a boy. Thanks a million!

lou031205 · 02/09/2007 20:16

Sparks, ecalm, Filbrit and PLP - Congratulations!

Chattyhen - I was induced for both my labours. 1st labour strapped to bed for continuous monitoring, and had a very acceptable 4 hour labour. TENS, with gas & air for last hour was sufficient.

This time, had mobile monitoring, with a remote box for CTG machine, so sat on a birthing ball, etc, and ended up with an 8 hour labour because my cervix slipped around the back of Jasmine's head. Labour only progressed with dilation once I got back on the bed on my back!

In short, don't worry too much. I think induction is a bit like C-Section - you wouldn't have it as your number one option, but it's nowhere near as bad as all the horror stories you are told. Straightforward inductions just aren't newsworthy.

lou031205 · 02/09/2007 20:20

Amyclaramum - you are doing a fantastic job in feeding eloise. It's really hard work & I know that it can be stressful with the whole 'have you got enough...?' thing. I hope the weight gain is more reassuring on Monday, and that you can start dropping the top-ups soon. I am sure that Eloise will soon pick up.

Just one thought, is it tricky to get her to latch on? I know that with Millie, my first DD, I struggled to get her on, and she had a tongue-tie. She had it snipped on day 3 and never looked back. Worth checking if Eloise is a bit fussy latching on.

JemimaPuddleduck07 · 02/09/2007 22:36

Wow, congratulations to all the new mums and their lovely babies. It's so reassuring to hear such positive birth stories,so thankyou for sharing them.

Had a record night last night. Up every 45 minutes. Have now been diagnosed with a infection, so hopefully once the antibiotics start to work i will start to get more sleep!

Anyone else frantically nesting? I was scrubbing cupboards at 7am this morning, which is the first time they have been cleaned since we moved here a year ago!

Congratulations to PLP, ECATLM and Kerri! Wow, dead impressed by all the news. Well done girls!!

TinaLC · 03/09/2007 07:59

Congratulations to all the new mums - so exciting and so many girls! Lovely names as well.

Have been quiet for a week or so as trying to get away for last couple of weekends with DH. Getting a bit uncomfortable sleeping now at 36+4 but know it is the home stretch. Baby still breech but acupuncture and ECV all coming in next week so at least I have various things to focus on.

Thanks for all the positive stories about births - both natural and c section as it really helps

FlossALump · 03/09/2007 08:05

Hi everyone.

Congratulations to Kerri - they are coming thick and fast now! Sorry it sounds like you had a bit of a tough time of it. I hope you recover well.

I had a pretty awful night. Anyone desperate enough to BD to bring on labour - don't do it! I had really bad lower tummy pain from about 9 'o' clock last night. Distraction, a warm bath and paracetamol didn't relieve it, and at about midnight they seemed to be going into contractions. At about 1 am I found a comfy position, managed to beat Dp's snoring out of him. Then up every 60-90 mins for a wee. And this morning up with DS, my bump looks even higher than it did yesterday . Although I know it is very clever, I really am not liking my body terribly much atm - keeps trying to fool me. Still at most I think I'll only have 3 more weeks to go. My parents are coming down on Friday and I'm sure my mum at least was convinced she'd be meeting the new baby. Ah well.

PRA - I'll try and get DP to take one of my actual bump for you later. Its a lovely idea!

EmLouT · 03/09/2007 08:26

Congratulations Kerri - Niamh is a lovely name - I have a cousin called Niamh and lots of people comment on how nice the name is!

Just a quick warning ladies - if you are considering eating copious amounts of pineapple in the hope it will bring on your labour then take heed from this story. I decided last night that I had had enough of being this uncomfortable so, in addition to all the Raspberry Leaf Tea, I decided to eat a whole pineapple. Needless to say, I am not in labour but the pineapple made my lips and gums bleed and they are very sore today - not advisable!
