Just thought I'd get the shiny new thread up and running. Well done Twit on the thread name

FlossALump · 30/08/2007 08:32

Oh good luck ECATLM!! Hope you are right. Was in much the same situation last night too, I was in a really weird mood, DS was really clingy all day when we were alone and was getting lots of pains. Contemplated putting tens on. Contemplated a bath. Woke up at 2 am to a symphony of Dp's snoring and still felt sore. Managed to get back to sleep around 3.30 am. Now this morning all feels normal again. Grr.

FIo, glad all is ok with the baby. Its worrying when they seem to start worrying. Glad you are feeling ok.

HIWBB, good news about the scan date.

Kyala, Well done on making it to the swimming pool! Frankly, the whole having to erm, tidy up before attempting to get in any appropriate swim wear atm is too much to contemplate! So I am very impressed.

willjo · 30/08/2007 09:46

Hi all,

Gosh it's impossible to keep up with this thread, not helped by lack of sleep, please prod me if there are any more birth announcements!

My midwife came round last night for the 'home-birth talk', it's suddenly made it feel very real. My dh was more worried about having the responsibility of giving me various homeopathic remedies than what to do when baby arrives fast and midwife is not there!! he was very relieved when the midwife said she knows all about the rememdies! Baby is head down on the right hand side and has moved into my pelvis but is measuring 2 weeks too small - this shocked me as I was convinced baby had gone through a growth spurt. The same midwife has measured me throughout and she is happy that baby is growing but in my mind I'm playing out different conclusions. Is my placenta failing? do I need to eat more? oh, I've gotta chill. Seeing her next week so I hope baby doesn't keep falling behind. Also need to decide whether to give baby vitamin K or not, whether to have natural 3rd stage or not? whether to have group B strep or not? Can't someone just decide for me!

Canandianmum - Peter Jones is obviously the place to be when heavil pregnant and feeling emotionally wobbly - I'm glad they sorted out the school unifirm in the end.

Welcome lauraloo25!

No sleep last night, four hours of what i thought might be contractions, then nothing, zip, de nada. Dad and step-mum due for lunch - cancelled them - muppets for inviting themselves when i'm 39 weeks.
Going to spend day doing nothing, catch up on sleep then go track down choc cookies in a cafe.

FlossALump · 30/08/2007 10:39

Willjo - how do you go about arranging some group b strep for yourself then? I didn't realise it was something you selected - careful we might all want some!

I'm guessing you mean getting tested for it?

Chattyhan · 30/08/2007 10:56

Hello all,

Toadstool - Sorry DD has been driving you up the wall DS has been relatively good this week so i'm wondering how long it will last. Whenever he plays up i always have the 'why are we having another' moment as for general worries you've just got a lot on at the moment. Think ahead to Christmas when you'll be settled in your new home with DD and lo!

Emj - i know what you mean about being unable to find reasonable nice things. I'm currently looking for a fabric covered changing mat for a boy?

HIWBB - I'm sure it's settling to have a decision and a date.

TwitmonstEr - i agree with what you said re fast labour i couldn't stop shaking for an hour after my 3 1/2 hr labour and needed lots of stitches. Fast is not neccessarily better!

Mrs Fish - I have simular concerns re labour and am worried about getting to the hospital too

TOD - i'm seeing consultant next tues to discuss induction (if nothing happens in the mean time) so i'll wait with you.

ECATLM - Possible contractions! keep us posted

FIOFIO - sorry you spent all day at hosp but glad all is well - i hope you have a calmer day today!

Willjo - I've measured a couple of cm behind for a few weeks now and had growth scans which confirmed all was well. Baby is just below average rather than the whopper i had last time! I hope you can be reassured that all is well.

Sophus/Floss - i've been getting possible labour feelings only to be back to normal a short while later! A couple of nights i've gone to bed with clothes laid out convinced i'll be up in a couple of hrs heading to the hospital only to wake in the morning feeling fine! It's starting to do my head in! I'm also very torn about wanting the baby out now and not wanting to give birth at all!

EmLouT · 30/08/2007 10:56

Hello from a rather tired and frustrated member of the group. I spent all night last night awake wondering whether my waters had broken or not and gearing up for going into hospital only to get a phone call this morning to say that the tests which they did yesterday showed that my waters have not, in fact broken. Now I just feel tired and grumpy and I just want this baby out!

From a non-moaning perspective - it sounds like we might be getting some exciting news from ECATLM - keep us posted won't you!

Hope you all manage to have good days - looks like the summer has left us again but at least it is not too hot.

Chattyhan · 30/08/2007 11:20

Hi again - Did anyone need a non attatchment version of the contact list because i've just done for LoopyLouLisa and can do for anyone else? just say!

MMooMar · 30/08/2007 11:24

Hi ladies,
Hope everyone is doing ok.

FioFio glad Lo was ok .

Got the old MW today for the same old prod and poke, got to take DS with me as well cos DP has to finish a job today so that will be fun , DS has done nothing but play me up the past two days, had me up twice last night and once the night before as well( little bugger) just to help with the lack of sleep bit,DP always insists that he never heard him crying or whatever ....yeah right!
Gonna take the buggy into the mw`s with me so I can strap him in it else he will be running riot round the room.

Mrsfish, know what you mean about the birth, not really worried over it, but really dont want anything like I had before.I had forceps too,no epi but it was just everything on the whole,no break in between contractions so it was like one long huge one with no time to recover and because DS was coming that fast he was getting distressed then ended up being stuck.Carted off for emergency cs ,but this great doc decided to just try the forceps and whipped DS out, with no epi ( MMooMar claps brilliant doctor!) .But to say the least I would like "normal" this time please if there is such a thing.
Re birth plan nothing here either, might just put on that, that I want normal too.

37+6 today so just need to make it to 12:00pm Friday night then if LO wants to come it sure can, that will make DP get the baby carrier out the loft pronto.
Looked at the state of the car yesterday and informed him that it was about time it got hoovered out, bits of crisps and crap every where,MW at hospital would take one look at that lot when loading LO in and take it back to the ward....shamefull stuff.

Nursery shop phoned yesterday to say the new pushchair had arrived and was ready to collect anytime, then about an hour later the electrical consumer unit kept tripping out, went round the house pulling plugs out ,switching stuff off etc then flicking the switch back on.Finally got it down to the fridge freezer.Dp had a look and a mess about, got on the phone spoke to a few people, turns out the compresser for the cooling thingy has gone, soonest anyone can come is tomorrow afternoon as its something DP cant do....bye bye £140 and thats for paying cash!
Spent the rest of the day packing freezer stuff up to go off to new homes for a couple of days and as you guys know our freezers at this point in time are bloody full to bursting so there was loads to shift.

Just a quick update on my mum then I will go, Hospital have decided not to do her op until the 28th Sept now for some reason,I know they have found some lumps elsewhere that look a bit suss so I dont really know whats happening ,I think my parents are only giving us half the story somehow...hmmm, will have to see anyway.

Anyway gonna start getting ready for the MW now ,not got to be there til 2:00pm but it will take me all this time to get that little devil ready the mood he is in....toadstool I know what you mean about bringing another into it all.

( sorry for the extra, extra long post)

love to all

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 30/08/2007 11:25

oh emlout that sounds frustrating! it's so good to have you all posting on here as takes my mind off things and makes me determined to be sure this is it before i schlep to hospital.

the pains are lasting 45 seconds to a minute now and are a bit randomly spaced - maybe ten mins or longer..? starting to hurt a bit now...ie i have to breath and 'ride' them.

been lying down as had real pain in ribs (new!) but that seems a bit better now. so, so far pretty normal morning, lying in bed listening to womans hour! was a bit sad it wasn't jane little presenting today as i know her a bit and a friendly voice on radio is comforting (i find radio v comforting generally - don't know why!). not long now till 'you and yours' - lovely v dull and v reassuring radio 4. i'm rambling...

off to do search on 'when to go to hospital'.

please forgive/ignore random posts. helps to keep my mind off things. x

MMooMar · 30/08/2007 11:29

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute loads of luck if something happens later and I am not around then

Chattyhan · 30/08/2007 11:43

ECATLM - ramble away i hope things continue to progress for you but it sounds like it could be it! How exciting! I take it DD is elsewhere? Otherwise give her a clap for allowing mummy to stay in bed and listen to the radio! A quick call to delivery unit at hospital should tell you what to do next! So good luck xx

TOD · 30/08/2007 11:48

ENORMOUSCHANGE....BEST OF LUCK WILL BE THINKING OF YOU. yOU SEEM V CALM..GOOD ON YA!!! XXXXXX
Chatty....hopefully we will both have news of a date next tues!!

EmLouT · 30/08/2007 11:52

ECATLM - wow - this is getting really exciting. Glad to keep you occupied with my incoherent ramblings - after all, I am bored and frustrated and need entertaining too. Good luck!!!

Chattyhan - I don't have a contact list and would really like one. What do I need to do?

emj23, sorry to hear about all your uncertainties about bubs position and what the plan will be, good luck. Are you going to have an ECV?

kyala, well done on your busy day yesterday, your DD sounds so sweet. Re baby's weight, she's definitely a biggen, my other two were huge babies too so it's no surprise really!

TOD, good to hear from you. Let us know if you get that induction date!

FioFio, what a nightmare day you had. WHY do these pre csection check ups take so bloomin long? I've been told that I need to go in the day before my section and to 'bring a book' Glad LO is ok after that worry.

Flossalump, sounds like your LO is teasing you a bit!

willjo, try not to worry about the midwife's measurements. When I was in labour with DS1 the midwife felt my tummy and predicted a 7lb baby, she was nearly 4lbs out!!

sophus, you too- being teased! Enjoy those cookies!

Mmoomar, sorry to hear about your freezer playing up. Fingers crossed for your Mum love, thinking of you.

ECATLM, HOW EXCITING, remember breeeeeeeeeeeathe!!!

Dal21 set up this special address for posting details picklesgalore at gmail dot com i'm sure she won't mind adding your details and sending it out again!?! Dal sent info via an excel attatchment which a few people couldn't open so if that happens i've got a copy and pasted version saved!

Details are: Mumsnet ID, Real name, Due date, Location, Personal Email and Mobile number.

Dal21 - Hope you don't mind me doing this! xx

FioFio, that's really nice of you to link to those websites, I'll have a look at them now. x x x

ECATLM - I hope you're okay and that everything is going well

Hopeitwontbebig, I have an appointment in two weeks to see if LO is still breech and then I might be booked in for an ECV. Apparently the doctor at my hospital who does them has a very good record for getting it to work. I'm still hoping that the bub won't get bored of doing catwheels and will eventually end up the right way round!

Chattyhan, I just bought a changing mat off eBay, I gave up hope of finding a nice one in the shops. Have you tried looking at all the online shops?

I hope everyone else is feeling fine and groovy too.

MrsMar · 30/08/2007 13:19

Morning all, after a shocking nights sleep I had my scan this morning, baby is definitely breech. I've now got to decide whether to try for a turn or not. We've got to decide by tomorrow morning so got lots of thinking to do!!

How exciting ecatlm!! I hope everything goes well, keep us updated if you can!

fio - sorry to hear about your fright, I hope baby has settled a bit more now. I'm glad the hospital seemed nice when you had your tour. If I do go for an elective cs I wonder if I can see our theatre first too? I've only ever been in a op theatre unconcious before

willjo, I hope your baby's growth is just a blip, I'm sure it will be. Measuring a couple of weeks either side is fine I seem to remember.

sorry to hear you had a bad night sophus... we should have met up here, I was up most of the night with the most ferocious bout of kicking in a long time. At four o'clock this morning I was watching the foxes play in my street (I chucked them a couple of jaffa cakes, naughty I know, but they must have been having a sugar rush) they were jumping around, very cute!

MMooMar - about your freezer. I hope you managed to save all the food. also for your poor mum having her op moved back. I hope the other lumps turn out to be nothing to be too concerned about. I'm sure they're trying to protect you when you're so heavily pregnant, but it must be so hard for you.

Bit of a shortish one from me today, I'm shattered so I'm going to have a nap. Dh didn't come home from a leaving do til 5am this morning, what with that, all the kicking last night, a stinking cold and watching foxes far too late, I'm shattered. Dh has pulled a duvet day so I'm going to join him for a snooze!

Take care everyone, and good luck again ECATLM!

xx

TwitmonstEr · 30/08/2007 13:28

Willjo: If it helps I am getting the injection for vit k, not the drops as it gets it over with [although I do feel a little mean]. At the end of the day you should consider how you may be feeling after the birth, sometimes it's just better to get these things over with.
For the third stage I am letting the cord stop pulsing before it is cut, then having the injection to expel the placenta [apparently having the injection also helps stop a possible very heavy bleed.{can't spell the right word lol] Not that you will have one, but I hope you understand my meaning.]
ECATLM: how exciting, I'm feeling that you seem to be nearing the end...
I'm glad everyone else is getting false alarms, I've never had them before and have had quick labours so it's all very irritating lol Have a nice deep bath and see what happens
Fiofio: I hope you're getting some rest after the day you had.

potoroo · 30/08/2007 13:31

ECATLM - hope it is all going well. How exciting!

dal21 · 30/08/2007 13:43

Enormous!!! How exciting!! Fingers and toes crossed for you.

Chatty - no of course I dont mind, EmLou as soon as your details are with me, will send out an updated spreadsheet.

MrsM - I just posted on the breech thread asking how your scan went. What considerations are you taking into account when thinking about the ECV? I think I will need to make the same decision in the next week or so...I have to say i do have misgivings about the procedure, but think those misgivings are based on dated information as opposed to all the modern monitoring that goes with the procedure. I guess I dont need to think about it til my next scan next Tues.

Fio - am so glad you are no longer nervous about your section. that is great news!

Willjo - dont worry too much about the measurements. The same happened to me and all it appeared to be was a change in the growth spurt, bub is on the small side, but currently doing well. Just keep an eye on babys movement - if you notice any change, then get checked out.

Hello to everyone else . All these comings and goings of labour pains means bubs are going to start popping soon!

MrsFish · 30/08/2007 13:57

Good afternoon everyone... moan alert!!!

Woke up in a bad mood this morning, I think it is because dh has gone away today for 10 days!!! and I am knackered and ds is doing my head in atm. He has been crying over the slightest thing this morning and whining which is really wearing my patience to the absolute limit. Luckily he is now in nursery till 5.30.

Had mw appt this morning, she took my bloods again but prob won't get results back till see her again. She prodded my bump and then told me lo had turned and was now breech.... arse, bugger, , . he has been fine all the way through, when I had 3d scan head was down and I think that was at 28 weeks. She tried to get me in for a scan to check, but they won't do it till I am 36 weeks, which is 3 days away, but I have to wait till I see mw again in 2 weeks time to check position before they scan me, but I'll be nearly 38 weeks then!!! then I will have to wait for a scan and then an ECV if he hasn't moved... what if he comes early, it'll be too late to do anything then won't it??? She also told me that bump is all baby and I don't have much fluid round him, so that is going to make it more difficult for him to turn isn't it? I hadn't considered the thought of a cs as all had been going swimmingly up until now.

I am frustrated, moody, tearful (holding it back just atm) and dh has buggered off. Just been to Sainsburys and bought loads of comfort food.

Right, time to research all this breech business...

Sorry its all a me me me post.

dal21 · 30/08/2007 14:02

MrsF. There is a breech watch on the pregnancy thread with info on there.
If your bub has just turned, there is still a chance it will turn again.
If you do go into spontaneous labour before a call is made; then what happens with me is that I head straight into the delivery suite, get scanned and if bub is still breech, in for c section.

These babies are determined to keep us all guessing! that is for sure!

MrsFish · 30/08/2007 14:31

Hi Dal - I have posted on the breech watch. Lo has obviously turned since my last mw appt which was 4 weeks ago and the position he is in now he has been in for some time, so I don't think it is a recent turn IYSWIM. I'm just concerned that he won't turn now seeing as she told me I don't have much fluid around him
