lol glad am not the only ones who can not decide on a name. I like Eden and Alfie, DH likes Callum and Troy As you can see we like very different names.. My DS has an irish name and my girls both have welsh names. I think DS2 will be called baby for ages..

littleoldme · 27/08/2007 20:07

Aiki - thanks for sharing your hard earned research with me. Much appreciated.

Anna - strongly suspect your DH has been watching too many movies. Trinity of course is the heroine in The Matrix ( if he doesn't know don't tell him or he may decide he likes Neo for a boy. ) Loki is the name of one the Angels who gets chucked out of heaven in Dogma. Great movies though.

Re names. Most of the ones I like really don't go with our surname. We are both of the view that you can't go wrong with an apostle. Some friends have just had a boy called Noah which I love.

Feeling very wifey . Today I have done three loads of washing, spring cleaned the bathroom and made shepherds' pie. Of course I should really have been lesson prepping as it's back to work tomorrow

IS anyone else having lots of BHs?? I have started to get them now if I walk too much, so have to rest up lots, which is always fun when trying to get round a market or carboot I refuse to go to hospital while they are going when I stop and rest, because they will keep me there for weeks.. and am not doing that..

AnnainNZ · 27/08/2007 22:36

I don't think i've had any Braxton Hicks yet. What do they feel like?

Little, the Matrix is one of DH's fave films, one of mine too (the first one anyway, not the pants sequels)...though I'm still vetoing Trinity! I mean, Star Wars is also one of my fave films but I'm not oging to call the baby Yoda (though that is what my brothewr said his daughter looked like when she was first born )

jetgirl · 27/08/2007 22:37

Littleoldme - mmmmm - Phish food ice-cream (it's 1/3 off in Sainsbury's at the mo too!) DH seemes to be the pregnant one today as he loaded up the shopping basket with pink wafer biscuits, Mr Kipling apple pies and Ben and Jerry's ice-cream!

Loopy - how on earth do you pronounce that name?! We have a boy's name sorted, but not a girl's name yet. We went through the same difficulties with girls' names last time, so it'll probably be a girl again.

Have had a lovely weekend. It was DD's 2nd birthday and we had a few relatives round to celebrate. DH and I were up until 1am preparing In the Night Garden themed biscuits and a cake, which fortunately DD recognised, even if it left the elderly relatives a little confused! DD's godmother came with her husband and daughter whose 3rd birthday is tomorrow. Godmother is due with her 3rd in 3 weeks time and doesn't look much bigger than me .

I did throw a bit of a strop in the evening when the in-laws stayed for dinner and kept interefering in the kitchen. I even stamped my foot like a petulant child and said' I can cope with washing up you know! I can still reach the sink.' Hopefully they put it down to tiredness and hormones. I know some of you will think I'm mad for wanting to do the washing up myself, but I get annoyed when people don't put things on the drying rack in the order I do, and they never know where to put dried things away. I even lied to my husband's grandmother and told her she couldn't dry-up as all the tea-towels were in the wash! I can be so irrational at the mo.

jetgirl · 27/08/2007 22:42

SGK and AnnainNZ - I've had a few BHs in the last week, usually after doing something vaguely strenuous like walking round the shops. AnnainNZ, they feel like your belly is tightening a bit, mine usually last between 30 and 45 seconds at a time and come in waves over a period of about ten minutes. I quite like them, it's like your body is practising for the real thing and has a vague idea of what to do, even if you don't!

Pixiefish · 28/08/2007 07:59

ah right jetgirl- that could be what i'm having then as my belly goes really tight at times. Doesn't hurt at all athough- could that be something else then.

Went blackberry picking in the fields yesterday- we decided we need to cut the hedgerows back this winter to improve next year's crop. Peeled a load of apples from the orchard and made a panful of chutney (3rd so far this year) and also steamed some apples to freeze and made an apple and blackberry crumble.

BH don't hurt apparently They are just practice contractions. I find that mine hurt though, but not hugely

Okay, I feel a bit thick now Loopy , i though it looked like a genuine Celtic name of some sort!! Oh well, I am pregnant so I'm allowed dim moments I think! There's a group on facebook at the moment called 'If 100,000 people join my wife will me call the baby spiderboy' or something like that!

Very impresed with your domestice goddessness, Pixie. I am contemplating making cookies this afternoons, only because I've finished the ones DH bought the other day and feel a bit guilty about it. I should be finishing a Year 8 scheme of work instead.

I don't the BH hurt, it's the elbowing in the ribs that gives me more pain at the moment.

RGPargy · 28/08/2007 12:06

Hi everyone. Blimey, you lot have been busy nattering away as usual!

I have been feeling lots of lovely big strong movements and kicks the last week or so and have even started to feel some kicks above my belly button area too, rather than in my lower tummy (although that's where the majority of them are).

DP and I were laying in bed the other night and he had his hand on my tummy. Baby decided to do a massive kick, which made DP go ! So he then put his ear to my tummy and he got a massive ear-kicking too!! He loved it! It was really funny!

Still dont think i've had any BHs yet. The only sensation i get after walking etc is a stitch type feeling, which eases slightly if i support my lower tummy.

Oh and i got my first STRETCHMARK yesterday!! It's only tiny and just on the topside of my belly button but i was kinda hoping i would be ok for stretchmarks this time around! I might have got them due to the tummy tuck that i had when i was 26....

RGPargy · 28/08/2007 12:07

Oh and names - me and DP have thankfully agreed on both girls and boys names. I think i'm in a very lucky minority!!

mrsjetson · 28/08/2007 14:26

OK - so I got bored of packing!

ARA - Archie is a FABULOUS name (DS2!!). Although beware they tend to be very cheeky little monsters!!

Absolutely no idea whatsoever any more about names. We had decided then changed our minds then I had settle on another name for a few days until DH called her by the name last night and it sounded terrible - nothing wacky either just a normal name!

BH's every night from 8pm (literally on the dot) - pretty regular and starting to become stronger. Movements are becoming very alien like with feet and hands everywhere - sometimes a bit too low for my liking especially when in the middle of talking to the childrens teachers - I thought I was going to have a little accident!

I have just weighed myself too and have put on 19lbs - thankfully I slowed down from the first 3 months when it really did appear too quickly.

I have my MW appt in 3 weeks - to talk about planning for a home birth - yikes! How scary. I thought I had better at least look into it considering all of the statistics seem to be against me actually making it to the hospital! We'll see - I had thought about just camping outside the hospital from 38 weeks - but I don;t think they'd take too kindly to that!

30 weeks tomorrow - yippeee xx

Pixiefish · 28/08/2007 15:35

Shattered today though after that brust of energy yesterday.

I had decided on a name until my friend decided to name her new puppy by the same name so dh won't let me use that any more Don't really want to either somehow

Love the name Archie ARA- very yummy name.

Lucky me- i saw my midwife in town today and ahd a chat with ehr about this meeting the haematologist wants to set up (so I was saved having to ring ambulance control to get hold of her)

Hi all - just back from my growth scan & LO is 4 1/2 lbs already at 30wks (weighed myself yesterday & have put on 19lbs so far) Looks like it's going to be another good sized one . Had to go on my own with DS as DD was sorking & DH is away but he was as good as gold throughout, bless

No agreement on names here either. We both sort of like one boy's name but it starts with the same letter as DS' so not sure (echoes of Bill & Ben )

iris66 · 28/08/2007 15:38

love the name Archie btw - but wouldn't want to tempt fate at even more mischief in the house !!

Pixiefish · 28/08/2007 15:39

Glad the growth scan went ok Iris. I had mine last friday and it was fine as well although I don't know what size the baby is

iris66 · 28/08/2007 15:57

Hello ladies,

Glad you like Archie--I was stupid enough to mention it discreetly to my mother who instantly started making retching noises to the entire room.....?!!

She's done that with every bloody one so far!

RGPargy - I'm getting the stitch thing too! Quite low down and when i've walked too fast for too long. It's a bit unpleasant though.

Was thinking about a maternity support belt - has anyone got any experience of them?

ara · 28/08/2007 17:43

hmm, just reading the weight gains - has anyone else put on anything like 3 stone or am i an anomaly?

ara · 28/08/2007 17:47

i'm honestly starting to get cellulite on my calves, even. not nice!!
