I haven't rubbed a single thing into my belly yet. It's terrible really because i just dont have the time (5 minutes or so?) to rub in moisturiser after a shower. Terrible and shocking. I will bathe in the stuff when i'm on mat leave!!

I've had stretch marks on my boobs from about 5 weeks pg Went from B/C cup to double EE overnight!! I was putting on stretch mark cream 3 times a day aswell but apparently I am just likely to be "pre-disposed" to getting them (as my MW very helpfully pointed out to me... )

Now using Sanctuary Mum-to-Be cream from Boots though which is lovely and smells scrumptious - and I've avoided tummy marks so far so fingers-crossed!!

Sorry to disappoint you Floanna but no amount of creams of any type of creams will stop you getting stretch marks. It's all about skin types and elasticity.

Sorry!!!

FCH · 24/09/2007 13:54

Oh - thanks loopy - I am liking that link!

Floanna · 24/09/2007 14:01

I was hoping against hope that wouldn't be the case but had an inkling that it might be...

Hi everyone - will catch up on the weekend's chattering in a bit but thought I would create a new thread here

See you all there!

geekInPigtails · 24/09/2007 14:28

Yeah apparently how likely you are to get stretch marks is genetic - my mum doesn't remember getting any, and so I've not had any either! Still, I think some people don't get them until they're actually in labour, so not counting my chickens yet...

Feeling a bit miserable at the mo, coz I came down with a nasty cold last Thursday, so I've basically done nothing but blow my nose for the past 3 days and now I've got a sore throat And somehow the heartburn is even worse than normal - gaviscon only helps for about 15mins, so I've had such trouble sleeping

Oh well, not too long to go now - I'm 34 weeks, and I stop work next Monday! So at least then I'll be able to start having naps in the day if I need them Bliss.

Hi all - Just to say hello after catching up on the thread.

FCH, Chocolatehobnob and Loopymumsy - DH is Merchant not Navel FCH. Yes, no sooner he is home he has to go again just when you are getting settled. I think I have missed him more now due to being pregnant and poorly and just wanting him here for a hug. You know what the hormones can be like . If I can get a date for the 37 week c-section then he will be home for 2 weeks with me as he is given 5 days paturnity. But if it is the 38 week date then it drops to about 6 days as he has had the week off before the section IYKWIM. If I just go into labour then I have to wait until he can get ashore the next day, then he starts his leave, so its all about timing. I am seeing consultant on Thursday so I will try and discuss with him the need to know a date either way. I will have my MIL to call upon if DH has to be on ship but nothing like having DH around especially with new baby. Hope your all well, nice to read and catch up on the thread and what your all up too

Lots of news to catch up on!

I seem to have drawn the genetic short straw again - mum has no stretch marks at all, but I got my first ones age 15 when my hips grew! They're gradually extending themselves, with new ones forming already at 30 weeks .

Ah well - I've not worn a bikini since I was 17, and am not likely to start now, so I'm not particularly bothered.

Good evening all

Just catching up on this thread. I can reccomend Bio-oil, i've used it for several old scars and it did work. But yes, stretch marks are genetic, but a helping hand can't hurt...

Oh dear

I appear to have killed a thread.

How is everyone doing? Am 32 weeks now - eek, and still have loads of things to get.

Could i ask for some advice - occasionally my fetal movements seem to be very rapid, not like the odd kick or squirm, almost like a jittery movement. Does anyone else get this, or am i being paranoid that bump is having a fit inside of me?

Thank you

TeaDr1nker - you've not killed the thread we started a new one over here!!

I get those jittery movements too BTW it freaked me out last pg - I though I had an epileptic inside but apparently it's entirely normal (I get them this time too) Come and join us on the other thread
