I have swollen fingers (they are normally very boney) , and my feet feel a bit swollen, but i just put this down to water retention ??? wouldn't you get a lot of other symptoms if it was pre-eclampsia

sparklygothkat · 10/09/2007 17:23

I have swollen feet I can't get half of my shoes on

AnnainNZ · 10/09/2007 17:28

I'm sure it's just water retention, not pre-e. Just checking if it was happening to anyone else. Have just read loads about pre-e because I have risk factors for it, wanted to be well-informed, am possibly a bit too well-informed now

(No such thing as too well-informed really, I spose)

choudru · 10/09/2007 17:33

Anna - I had to stop wearing my rings weeks ago because they would fit in the morning but be stuck in the evening. Lovely sausage fingers

Lizzie - hope you can last longer this time. I know what you mean about kind of being fed up with being pregnant. After all - we have only had 7 month pregnancies before! Mind you, I am trying to concentrate on how much healthier the baby will be, the longer I can hang on to her.

Now that all guests are out of the way and my essential baby prep pretty much done, I am using this time as a luxury to 'enjoy' () my DS and do all the things I know I'll wish I'd have done once baby arrives. Like research local mum and baby groups. Have spent the afternoon in the garden peeling onions believe it or not. Peeled and sliced 55 bloody onions and have put them in bags for the freezer.

Once baby arrives my MIL is going to come and stay for a week or 2 and she'll do all the cooking and look after DH and DS while I concentrate on baby. So I decided to make bags of onion, garlic and ginger so that she can just take a bag out of the freezer chuck it in a pan to make a curry from that to save her some hassle.

Partly to make her life easier and partly because I am not very good at other people doing me favours so it will make me feel like I have helped in advance IYKWIM.

Plus it might encourage me to cook a bit more often!

RG - your hip pain sounds awful! Hope it doesn't reoccur honey. And on your behalf about the wasted work. How annoying!

Now I am going to have a coffee and a slice of choc cheesecake while I put my feet up and watch Come Dine With Me.

AnnainNZ · 10/09/2007 18:12

Choudru that is very organised, preparing adn freezing onions etc! I keep reading about how meals should be prepared and frozen before the birth, then you can just defrost them adn I keep MEANING to do it...so far our freezer has vodka and ice cream in . Though those could be quite welcome when I've got sleep deprivation

sparklygothkat · 10/09/2007 19:54

choudru and lizzie, are you now counting the days past when you delivered?? I am now past when I delivered dd1, but now am waiting for me to get past 33 weeks (dd2), then it will be 35 weeks (ds). I wake up each day wondering if its going to start, but each day that passes I relax a bit more

Pixiefish · 10/09/2007 19:54

RGPargy · 10/09/2007 20:40

Evening everyone.

Got home from work earlier and found i had a letter from the hospital. It said my GTT results were within the normal range so i am super happy about that!!

Choudru - I did wonder what on earth you were doing peeling a whole field of onions for, but then you said MIL would be making curry and i can now see the logic. But honestly, 55 onions??!!!!! I think my boss who i did all the work for nothing for got the hint that i was severely pissed off as later in the day, he asked me for the labels so that he could amend them himself lol. I did NOT offer to do them for him! Mowahahaha!!!

Anna - PMSL at vodka and ice cream in your freezer. it wasn't too long ago that our freezer only contained icecubes and Sambucca () but seeing as we've not been Sambucca'd for a while, we've taken the bottle out of the freezer and replaced the space with food.

Evening Pixiefish!

sparklygothkat · 10/09/2007 20:58

Glad your GTT results were normal RG. I have been struggling with my GD and can't get hold of anyone to find out about the insulin, as the specialist nurses are both on leave

littleoldme · 10/09/2007 23:05

Just a quick hello.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Got home from work and went straight to bed. Woke an hour ago and am now going back there

Choudru respc' on the onions!!

Have a good kip one and all.

aikigypsy · 11/09/2007 06:56

I'm heading home to the US today. DP will be following in a couple of weeks, there for a few months, then plans are to come back here in the new year. We'll see how it goes.

ChocolateHobnob · 11/09/2007 07:57

Hello, I'm a newbie to this thread, a regular on the Oct antenatal threads. My first baby is due 31 October and I realize I'm likely to give birth in November so I thought I would come and join you all too if that's okay!

I'm basically fine, had an easy pregnancy so far, only issue is I find it hard to get a good night's sleep (doesn't everyone at this stage?!) and I'm counting down my last work days.

I have read through the posts on this thread but it'll take me time to get to know everyone, so hello and I hope you don't mind me joining you all!

choudru · 11/09/2007 09:18

RG - great news Bet you're pretty pleased

Sparkly - too right I was counting the days. Now that I am past it (31+4), I feel a lot more relaxed. I think you will be the same once you get past 33 weeks. And because we have had to be so organised just in case, we have the luxury of a few weeks before baby arrives to do some extra jobs or to do nothing!

I think the smell of onions has just about left the building...

Off to my mum's today to let her look after me. DS seems to have a cold but seeing his gran will cheer him up.

Welcome hobnob - you could be the first of us to drop!

Aiki - have a safe journey and let us know how you're getting on out there.

RGPargy · 11/09/2007 09:53

Morning everyone!

SGK - how annoying that the specialists are both away atm, just when you need their help! Must be very for you!

Aiki - have a safe journey and dont forget to keep making those ankle circles!

Choudru - yep, i'm really pleased about the results. I kind of expected that as i'm a big girl and my nan was diabetic, that i would probably get GD at least. Thankfully that hasn't happened. Hoorah! Enjoy being pampered by your mum!

Hello and welcome HobNob! A good night's sleep? WTF is that? I cant remember the last time i actually slept through the entire night. All in good preparation for things to come, i spose.....

Have a good day everyone!

LizzieO · 11/09/2007 11:10

mornin all

what a gorgeous day, nothing like the sunshine to make everything ok !

SPK and Choudru - yes i haven't quite got to DS1 drop date 32 + 4, that will be this Sunday, but feel like i have kinda prepared myself for the eventuality

Well done RG - yay

welcome Choc Hob Nob !!!!

hope y'all have lovely day
Lxxxxx

mrsjetson · 11/09/2007 15:09

Hi to all,

Well I really cannot catch up withy ou girls anymore!! I now take a look before posting but by the time i have reached the end - another 20,000 posts have arrived!!!!

I hope that you are all well - not too many worrying things going on for you.

We leave next week so have been busy packing - so boring! My girlfriends are hosting a baby shower for me tomorrow - should be interesting - haven't had one before!

After my UK MW told me that I didn;t have to have a home birth if I didn;t want to - I have been thinking, 'maybe it would be easier' - apart from teh brand new cream carpets!!!! Talk about pregnancy messing with your mind!

Really quite serious on the baby name search - we have NOTHING and I have 8 weeks to go!

Must go and collect the boys - have a wonderful day all of you, I see that you are having good weather - long may it last xx

iris66 · 11/09/2007 16:51

Hi all - quick post between DD's ramblings with her new uni mates on MSN!

Mrs jetson - good luck with all the packing and for your trip back.

RGPargy - fantastic news about the GTT. I'm really pleased for you

ChocolateHobNob - welcome to the thread (hope you can keep up better than me - the posting's prolific!)

Aikigypsy - hope you have a good journey home.

Sparkly - haven't you got a follow up appointment? Maybe your assessment unit can help in the meantime?

FCH - your LO looks gorgeous

sorry to all I've missed but hope you're all enjoying the good weather. Have to run as DS wants his tea & I've loads to do as DH gets home this week yay!!

sparklygothkat · 11/09/2007 18:29

anyone else having problems walking?? I can barely move atm, when I do I get really bad pain across my hips. Tried to get a MW appointment today for thursday and was told that they couldn't fit me in, even though the MW said she would see me at any time I needed, and just to ask them to put me in at the end of her appointments. So have to phone the MW on thursday morning and ask her to see me.

ara · 11/09/2007 18:30

hello everyone, just back from a week in deutschland which was fantastic. have done v quick ready through but will do a proper one after this.
i also have digs in the ribs now - it seems to be growing larger every day at the moment, it's actually quite alarming as i was small for ages and in the last 3 weeks my tummy has started to look like i'm smuggling a beach ball!!!
hello to all newbies, and to you sparkly!! glad it was a false alarm.
Floanna - to answer you q from over a week ago, i'm in Edinburgh (sorry - must have left to get the plane already!).

ara · 11/09/2007 18:31

youch sparkly, sounds sore. i don't have anything like that - just sore back sometimes after sleeping.

KaylaBmummy · 11/09/2007 20:08

Hi Thank you sparklygothcat for inviting me to this thread. I am due November 8th. Im 41 years old as i said and wondering if older mums deliver earlier, I read somewhere that they did and im so fed up with pregnancy problems, driving me mad. I am a new mum to mumsnet so not sure if messaging correctly!!!

sparklygothkat · 11/09/2007 20:11

oooo you are due the same day as me!! As I said I don;t know about older mums but RG has had a big gap inbetween births

KaylaBmummy · 11/09/2007 20:21

Sparklygothcat, Ohh thats great i dont know anyone. I notice from reading the thread that you hips and back are bad too. Its awful isnt it, I cant remember having a full nights sleep. I had a softening of the discs in my back after my second child and have suffered on and off but this pregnancy has really brought it back, my hips and buttocks ache like mad, especially at night in bed. Anyway has everything else been ok for you, I cant wait to deliver now and get it over with, my husband works a week on week of and a ferryline i am just hoping he is home when i deliver

sparklygothkat · 11/09/2007 20:38

i am high risk, because I have previously given birth 3 time prematurely. I have a blood clotting disorder which was only discovered with this pregnancy. I also have gestational diabetes. The pain in my hips has only been there is the last few days, but it hurts lots. I have had enough too

KaylaBmummy · 11/09/2007 21:17

Oh so sorry to hear that, hope everything goes ok for you. I hope their keeping a close eye on you and that everything goes ok. I was hoping I would sail through this pregnancy as I was looking forward to being pregnant. Its a bummer when you hit ill health, I was not expecting to feel this ill with pain. Just looking forward to getting to the end of it now and holding a healthy baby, cant wait. Im seeing consultant on Thursday to discuss back pain and kidney, hope he says I can be induced early or have section, can I ask were you induced, had c -section or just went into labour on your previous pregnancies? if you dont mind me asking as you say they were premature.
