SGK - Don't you go having that baby yet lady.

Nasr - You sound very organised and the nursery sounds gorgeous. We haven't done ours yet as we have to shift and organise so much stuff. I'm sure we'll get around to it.

Have a happy Sunday.

RGPargy · 09/09/2007 13:28

Afternoon everyone!

Lizzie - dont you just HATE those thin birds??!

SGK - hang on in there and make sure you REST, REST and then REST some more!!!

Pixie - oh to have a bloody dishwasher!! S'alright for some! I keep pestering DP that i want one but we dont have the room for one just yet, not until we've sorted out our conservatory, coz all the white goods will go out there, except for the fridge and dishwasher! Thinking it'll be a couple of years before that's done yet tho. Ah well, on with the Marigolds.......

Nasr - i cant wait to leave work either! I've got 28 working days left. Cannot bloody wait!!! We're nowhere near finished in the nursery yet tho. We've still got so much work to do in there, i.e. moving radiators, plastering the ceiling and walls, building a little wardrobe etc etc

As for pains in the ribs, nothing too untoward yet (baby probs having trouble getting through the flab to actually GET to my ribs!). I do get kicked in the fanjo quite a lot tho, so i spose i'm getting that instead lol.

Gonna go food shopping in a minute (boo hiss) and then will settle down to watch the rest of Eastenders.

Have a nice afternoon everyone!

Pixiefish · 09/09/2007 13:40

RG- dishwasher was from my single pre dd days although we did think of managing without one now as this one has blown up but we got a bargain this morning.
Had to go to Bangor this morning to get another one. Discontinued managers special should have been £370 but we got it for £260 and then they knocked another £25 off for scratches on the side and one tiny one on the front. Well chuffed but would have rahter not had to spend it obviously. I did say to dh that we could manage without for a while but he didn't think so- especially as we have stoopid round sink and drainer which are crapola for washing up and draining dishes

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/09/2007 14:35

lol Pixie. I know what you mean about a round sink. Our last place had a sink that was tiny and deffo not designed for washing up in! I think that as we had a dishwasher when i was teenager, i know how lovely it is to have one and so i always get jealous of those who have one and now i'm stuck with the marigolds lol. Glad you found a bargain tho - it always make spending that much money a bit less painful doesn't it?

Easywriter · 09/09/2007 16:29

SGK- Get some rest sweetie, don't go starting off our birth role call just yet.

I finallt went to the attic and have got as far as sorting out baby clothes into age groups. Now to 'sling' the stuff I don't like and wash the stuff I do. I just can't be bothered though. Is there something wrong with me?

Maybe it's cos our house is stripped to the plaster and none of the radiators are attached. Project 'Replaster every wall and ceiling in the Easywriter' household begins tomorrow. Can't be ar*ed with that either!

Had a weird thing yesterday, I went to a barbeque and Boy! My drinking head has reappeared. Usually pregnancy=everything tastes like firewater, so I drink maybe half a unit every few months. Yesterday, I swear I could have had a skinfull! I stopped at two glasses of bubbly but only because I started feeling guilty .

OK, what the cr*ps wrong with me? I feel like I've totally lost the plot.

I feel like I should sort my life out but how???

RGPargy · 09/09/2007 16:35

I sympathise with you Easywriter!! I cant be bothered to do alot of stuff either and that might also be due to the lack of plaster on the walls and ceiling in the nursery.

I am also with you on the drinking thing. as much as i would love to have a skinful, obviously we cant and i always just have the one now, maybe twice a week (or three at a push). I'm finding that just one small glass of vino really affects me now and i feel like i could be half cut on just that amount! It's shocking considering how much i used to drink pre-pregnancy (i gave up booze a couple of months before i got pg).

Ah well, at least we'll be cheap dates when the babies are here, eh?

littleoldme · 09/09/2007 16:46

Rg and Easy. We went out for dinner to celebrate my birthday last night. For the first time since being PG I felt like getting ratted too.

Ahh to sink a bottle of cold white with some somoked salmon and brie...

Easywriter · 09/09/2007 16:51

Thankyou RG.
Do you think it's so quiet on here these days as everyone else can't be bothered too?

I ordered our christmas turkey last wednesday

AND

have ordered some real nappies , I feel so proud of myself (OK well, DP had a LOT to do with it).

How are you getting on RG?

RGPargy · 09/09/2007 16:58

littleoldme - glad we're not the only potential p1ssheads on this thread then!

Easy - You are certainly more organised than me re Xmas! DP and I were only saying today that we should start to buy bits and bobs for Xmas as we wont be able to afford to do a mammoth last minute shop (which is normally the case for me), and no doubt i will deffo not be in the mood for hitting the shops!

I'm not doing too bad thanx. I'm getting a bit fed up with my lung capacity diminishing somewhat, and i really really cant wait to start exercising again and concentrating on getting some sort of figure back (oh and bending over double to do up my laces!). But other than that, i am really enjoying the pg and cannot wait for D-Day on 27th nov.

how are you doing, apart from the cant-be-botheredness that seems to have hit us all lately?!

sparklygothkat · 09/09/2007 17:12

been resting again, I love this, can sleep at odd times and no-one bats an eyelid DH has done dinner, just waiting for it all to finish off and then eat it, it smells lovely.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm food!!!

RGPargy · 09/09/2007 17:15

Fantastic, SGK! Just the way it should be too.

RGPargy · 09/09/2007 17:16

Oh and littleoldme - HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday!!!

tonysmum · 09/09/2007 17:33

Easywriter, what kind of real nappies did you get? I used disposables with my first but I am thinking of switching to cloth with this one. Any recommendation?

silkcushion · 09/09/2007 23:12

RG and Easy - I've just about mustered up enough energy to type and let you know that I, too cannot be bothered with anything. I have spent hours in front of the telly watching baby, pregnancy and birthing programmes
Although I did go for a swim earlier and ironed about 10 items of a pile of 30!

AnnainNZ · 09/09/2007 23:43

I'm glad it's not just me who Just Can't Be Arsed To Do Anything. Last Monday and Tuesday I went swimming and felt very happy with myself. By Thursday and Friday I was pretty much spending the entire day in bed watching DVD's and idly reading threads on MN.

I imagined I was going to do so much when I was on maternity leave, I even made a big list. Hah! Mind you, I did get an exercise ball in the post this morning so I kind of half-heartedly bounced aorund on it for about, ooh, five minutes, before I went back to the sofa and MN.

Mind you, DH has been sitting here playing computer games for the last 2 hours and he doesn't even have the excuse of being pg...

FCH · 10/09/2007 11:45

Hello all,

I am suffering from "I don't want to do anything" but sadly had Ante-Natal classes on Saturday, and then had to drive to the welsh borders to help DH's godmother pack up her house in preparation for downsizing to sheltered accommodation. (Needless to say I agreed to this a couple of months ago when I had rather more energy!) So I have not been very successful at not doing anything over the weekend. On the bright side we are now coming to the end of the long list of external commitments we took on when I was convinced that being pregnant would be much like not being pregnant but with people carrying things for me more! I am so looking forward to chilling out for the next couple of months...

The desire to drink reappeared a couple of months ago and has caused a few rows in the FCH household (along the lines of "take that drink away where I can't see it you selfish b***d before I down it and then go on a massive bender"). I am dying for something stronger than a small spritzer - a vodka on the rocks is currently sounding good and it is still only Monday morning! The worst thing is looking ahead and thinking "hmm, breastfeeding - another few months of restricted alcohol intake... " I never realised I was such a soak!

We did have an exciting delivery from John Lewis on Friday though and now have nursery furniture. It would have been more exciting if they had managed to bring the cot matress as well. The lady I spoke to when I phoned to tell them said helpfully "oh dear - I expect that is sitting in a warehouse somewhere looking lonely" I couldn't help thinking it would be better if it was sitting in my nursery looking organised...

The sweet thing though is that Mr FCH (who is actually living at home at the moment) has started phoning in the evenings from the nursery to update me on what he has managed to make work - last night he set up the nappy bin and is now working on how the car seat works. It is so cute!!

Right - off to the loo again.

FCH

choudru · 10/09/2007 12:52

Morning all,

FCH - I'm so jealous of your pic - it looks like a real life proper baby! As much as I know I have a baby inside me, sometimes I have to stop and remind myself that there really is a little person in there.

We had a busy weekend - my MIL, BIL, SIL, SIL's DD and my DH's 2 year old neice came to stay. Was very very tiring but everyone seemed to have a nice time and I got lots of help around the house. We've had 4 sets of guests in 2 weeks so am glad that's over with!

My antenatal classes don't start until a week on saturday but I got in touch with the NCT about their coffee morning just in case in have this baby before classes. Have decided to make the effort to go and attend the coffee mornings from this/next week to build up a routine rather than wait until baby is born. Will be nice for me to meet some local mums since I don't know many people in Leeds.

Got chatting to a lovely lady walking down the road the other day. We were both pushing buggies and struck up a conversation. She told me about some of the local mum and baby groups she goes to so I might show my face there now that I have done all baby prep and have more time.

I did adore living in London but must admit it's not as easy to chat to complete strangers. Oop north it's rude not to!

Sparkly - I hope you can hang on for a while yet. I am not very chuffed I am past the stage when DS was born and must admit I feel great - no BH - I feel like I can start relaxing and stop worrying that this baby is about to pop out.

Lizzie - when did you have your baby? Are you past that stage yet?

Little - happy belated birthday!

I have rib pain as well - but it's above the ribs, not below???

I'm going to have a nap now to recover from the weekend. Hopefully DS will have one with me and allow mummy some rest.

choudru · 10/09/2007 12:54

By the way, I meant I AM very chuffed I am past the stage when DS was born. Duhhh.

BunnyBaby · 10/09/2007 14:13

Hi Ladies,

I had a weekend where I didn't want to do anything too. But we had DH's Aunt round on Saturday night, and were due to go to birthday drinks on Sunday. A residual ache I acquired from my bathroom acrobatics the other week started to feel more like a trapped nerve on Sunday.

So - I decided not to go to the drinks (as couldn't sit and be comfortable) so me and DH went to our gym, and I bobbed around in the pool for 40 minutes. Pure bliss, as I'd forgotten what "I" feel like, the weightlessness got rid of every ache and pain, and the baby loved it.

Changed my position in bed and my back is almost back to normal.

Thank goodness the Spatone has started to kick in (started taking Wednesday) today, and I've got past lunchtime without feeling like I want to crawl under my desk and sleep.

However my exhausted anaemic few days has given me good rest and I now refuse to go out 3 times a week, and if people want to see me they'll just have to get in their car and drive over to me.

DH has been wonderful with tired wife, and he quite pleased to see me taking things a lot easier!

FCH - I too was convinced that being pregnant would be much like not being pregnant but with people carrying things - more fool me, but good lesson to learn - lol!

sparklygothkat · 10/09/2007 14:28

still here, though have noticed pain in my hips area, I think that its just the weight of bump. No more contractions

sparklygothkat · 10/09/2007 14:40

have put a pic of mine and Lisad123's bumps on my profile, I am 31 weeks and she is 36 weeks, I am on the right.

RGPargy · 10/09/2007 16:41

Hi everyone.

What a horrible Monday it's been so far! I woke up FOUR times in the night - twice for the loo, once coz the door kept banging in the wind (we had windows open) and once coz my left hip joint was really really aching and no change in position would ease it. Yuk!! I came into work on Saturday morning to finish off this urgent job for one of my blokes and when i got into work this morning, i discovered that they didn't actually need now after all and all my work was just going to go in the bin!! I'm very about that, to say the least! I've also just got back from a 2 hour training session on some new software that the firm are bringing in so i'm now all sleepy zzzzz........

Silkcushion - Swimming AND ironing in one weekend?? That's more physical activity than i do in a month!!! I do fancy a swim tho, i have to admit. Not sure i should pay out £xxx for a swimsuit that i might possibly only wear the once. I spose once i'm on mat leave i could make it a twice/three times weekly thing to have a splosh about.....

Anna - watching DVDs in bed sounds like bliss!! You lucky thing!

FCH - i think you are allowed slightly more booze when you BF than when you're pg (or so i've been told). I'm sure someone can confirm later tho.... Glad to see that your DH is getting the nursery sorted out. What a relief for you! Ours still needs the ceiling and walls plastered and a radiator moved. We cant get the plasterer in until the plumber's been and the plumber cant come til 2 weeks time at the earliest, etc etc...

Choudru - Blimey, you've deffo been busy!! I know what you mean about not talking to strangers in London. If you even so much as smile at someone you dont know up here, they'll think you're the local nutbag that's come out for a day trip! Whilst out and about on my DJ trips around the country, i have found that Northerners do tend to be quite a bit more friendly than us snooty & hostile southerners! It's good that your LO has hung on in there too. Yay!!!

Bunny - so nice that DH is looking after you. The more people mention swimming the more it does sound rather inviting!

SGK - So glad things have settled down for you too. Yours and Lisa's bumps are lovely!

LizzieO · 10/09/2007 16:54

hey one and all !!!!

v tired today as my poor little DS was sick twice in the wee smal hours, though absolutely full of beans this morning. DH has been off with him today. ooooohhhh sleep....been a few weeks since my DS stopped having that afternoon nap, i don't ever seem to get a chance now though

god i'm missing my drink....especially after stressful day or just cos its nice and when your out everyone else is enjoying getting all tiddly, had friend over on Fri night for dinner so had a couple of glasses, then DH birthday on SAt so crowd of us all went for meal so another couple of glasses, then i felt pissed off last night so had another glass, so have to be really good now and think of baby.

Choudru - i am 32 weeks on Weds that will be the time when DS appeared, but i feel kind of ok about things as have mentally prepared for bubba, and actually already getting fed up with being preg, and feeling absolutely huuuuuuge

Anyhoo - hope y'all have a good evenin
Lxxxxx

LizzieO · 10/09/2007 16:54

PS SGK - hope you are ok, i kind of felt some very light contraction like pain on Fri am, but haven't had any since

AnnainNZ · 10/09/2007 17:10

Am missing booze too. JHave had a couple of evenings when I have jusgt thought I would love to get to that giggly pissed stage - when you're not completely drunk but just really relaxed and smiley. Have requested a very nice wine or champagne for after the birth!

Btw, anyone else getting swollen fingers? I had to really struggle to take my wedding ring off last night. Am keeping an eye on my feet and ankles too, they look a bit swollen but not too bad. I know it can happen in later pg (32 wks now) but am aware it can also be early sign of pre-eclampsia. Trying not to be paranoid about it but am on the lookout for any signs because of my high bp
