Here we are ladies- I'll dash off and link to the new thread from the old one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ara · 03/09/2007 13:30

hello floanna! you are due on the same date as i am
It's also my first so will be interesting to see who goes first!!
I tried to have my anti-d about an hour ago and failed miserably as was too scared! I'm going back next week to give it another go.
I also have rotten pesky horrid heartburn - it's driving me wild!! And sleeping is not good because i keep waking up with a sore back. think i might have to start keeping my bosom contained at night
where in the country are you?

Floanna · 03/09/2007 13:59

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if we carry on the same - seems like we've had really similar pregnancies so far!

Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?

Don't worry too much about the anti-d - it is a little bit painful, I'm not going tolie, but it's not that bad, and it subsides as soon as it's over, which is pretty quickly! Handy hint - ask if you can have it in your thigh instead of your bum - apparently it hurts less!

I'm in Leicester - where are you?

Floanna · 03/09/2007 14:01

Another thing - have you told your GP about your heartburn? I went and told mine I couldn't cope with and have been on a repeat presciption of Peptac (like prescription Gaviscon) ever since and it's been a life-saver x

RGPargy · 03/09/2007 14:08

Hello and welcome Floanna! I've added you to our massive list, but as i dont know if you're having a boy or girl, i've just put "surprise". Feel free to change it if you do know the sex of your LO!

I hope you're ready for some serious chattage. We talk LOTS on this thread! Try and keep up!

RGPargy · 03/09/2007 14:27

Cool Beanz!!!

sarahloumadam · 03/09/2007 16:07

Hello chatty ladies! If we are like this now, what will we be like when we are on maternity leave?!

Hope everyone is ok, ikwym re tiredness, if I do anything vaguely strenous (get out of bed, bend down!) I get braxton hicks and out of breath. I work with an ex-midwife who has advised me to go swimming to build up my stamina for the labour! Would have to go before work so . We are on the home run now tho .

littleoldme · 03/09/2007 16:31

Just wanted to check in say a quick hi. Last night I got three hours sleep and my pelvis is sore I was almost in tears by the end of the day. I've had e- bloody-nough.

RGPargy · 03/09/2007 16:34

Sarah - re swimming, no chance! Dont have the energy atm!! I'm also with you on doing anything that uses the slightest bit of energy lol.

littleoldme - so sorry to hear you're suffering. Try and rest as much as possible. Not long to go now. Hang in there, eh?

RGPargy · 03/09/2007 16:36

Actually with regard to BH, i'm wondering if i've started having them? After i've done something even remotely strenuous, my tummy does go a bit tight but i've always assumed it was baby moving or summat (not kicking, but changing position perhaps). Perhaps i have been wrong and they are BH!!

littleoldme · 03/09/2007 18:18

Feeling much happier now having flopped on the sofa for a while and vented my spleen at the neighbour about his out of control dog.

RG - Ta darlin'. I've had lots of tightening too but it's generally quite low down.

Sarah - I managed a very slow 10 lengths in the pool at the weekend. I don't think sych a miniscule amount of exercise will help with labour but it was nice to feel weightless.

I've got my anti d on Weds. On the downside I'm going to jabbed in the arse. On the upside I won't have to teach my year 10 group.

sparklygothkat · 03/09/2007 18:25

Hi all, been to the diabetes clinic today, and they were not impressed by my high readings I have been trying so hard buut can't keep the numbers low enough. So they have said that if I have 3 more days of high readings I have to start on insulin
They also said that I can not go pass 38 weeks, which is odd for me, because I want to so much, and they will induce me at 38 weeks if I haven't delivered by then

sparklygothkat · 03/09/2007 18:32

oh and apparently DS2 is a bit small, I am measuring 28 weeks, but I was measuring 28 weeks 2 weeks ago at midwife checkup

iris66 · 03/09/2007 19:33

Welcome to the throng Floanna the MWs are going to be sooooo busy in November aren't they!!

Littleoldme - poor you. I must admit I really want my body back now. The inability to move is doing my head in - as is DS's insistance on bouncing on/leaning on/kicking my bump at every opportunity!! On the plus side he keeps lifting my top up and stroking my bump saying "beebee" awww (I'm ignoring the fact that he does it to flat stomached DD too though! )

Sparkly - sorry about your sugar news. I'm in for a MW/Consultant/Diabetic Dr appointment on wed Have they given any explanation to why they think LO is measuring small?

I went on a hormonal shopping spree today I was only popping in to go to the bank too but came across a new shop & bought a lovely embroidered black wool wrap/scarf with multicoloured flowers all over it (my excuse being that it's ideal for bf coverup) and some thick woolly socks and an oversized purple cardi (last 2 from Peacocks - conscience salved ) Is anyone else getting into that mode of major nesting & re furnishing the nest (or wardrode)? (I even washed my lounge curtains today too! - worrying, very worrying)

very very strange for me to be dicussing induction lol!! Never thought that would happen.. Anyway, no idea why LO is measuring small, but she didn't measure me from where his feet are, so not sure if she measured me correctly. I have a growth scan on wednesday anyway, so will know more then.

silkcushion · 03/09/2007 21:52

Am going to rant and be miserable - look away now if you can't bear it.

After this morning's post (v unusual for me to be up at 6am) I vomited outrageously for nearly an hour and worse still I wet myself whilst doing it . Then I burst into tears, had a shower, crawled back into bed with DH and sobbed myself to sleep.

I feel like shite. I don't know what's worse the vomiting starting again or the fact that I now appear to be incontinent.

I am rubbish at being pregnant - I just want my baby to come now. I dragged myself to work this afternoon and then yoga this evening but I still feel utterly bloody miserable and sorry for myself.

Can someone slap me across the face and tell me to pull myself together?

iris66 · 04/09/2007 07:23

silkcushion - ((hugs)) hope you're feeling a little brighter today . Hopefully the sickness will just be a one off (you sound knackered - which never helps)and that the yoga helped you relax a bit.
The force of vomming will have just added extra pressure on top of the baby (I'd challenge an olympic athlete not to have some kind of accident in those circumstances (if it's any consolation I daren't sneeze anymore and have to really prepare myself to cough )

Floanna · 04/09/2007 11:24

Silkcushion - I will be the first to admit that I can't fight against the forces of nature when I'm being really sick - I think (?!) it's pretty normal so don't be too hard on yourself.

Thanks for the welcomes everybody!

Been to the midwife this morning and she seemed pretty positive about waterbirth for me so long as there is a pool free and enough staff - but she also recommended bringing my own! - Has anyone done that?

Daisy310575 · 04/09/2007 12:20

Hello,

I'd just like to add myself to the list, my first baby is due on November 16th. I'm working at home today because of the tube strike, and failing miserably to do much work...

Daisy

RGPargy · 04/09/2007 12:41

Hello and welcome Daisy!!

I've added you to our list too.

Unfortunately although i work in London, i do not have to suffer the tubes so didn't have an excuse to stay at home this morning! Put your feet up for a bit and watch something brain numbing on the telly, like Jezza Kyle or Trisha lol.

choudru · 04/09/2007 13:53

Afternoon ladies,

I have been attacked by the nesting bug as well - which is very surprising as normally I avoid housework at all costs. Only do it when I am trying to find an excuse to avoid doing something else.

Have just handwashed the moses basket covers and now they are swinging gently in the breeze.

Had yet more guests at the weekend - some more friends from london came up. Third set of guests in 10 days! Was nice though - gave us excuse to go out for a meal in Leeds and on a little trip to York.

My best friend told me she was 8 weeks pregnant last weekend when she came to stay but over the past 24 hours she has maiscarried . It would have been her first baby. Her sister is also pregnant and due a week after best friend should have been due. So now she has to deal with the watching her sister's pregnancy develop knowing she would have been a week ahead if she was still pregnant

Certainly put everything in perspective - I'm sure I won't stop moaning about backache and tiredness but I certainly will stop wishing this pregnancy away. Very ashamed

Little - sorry to hear about your back - have to agree about memory mattress. I think that may be why I haven't been too bad at night. I just e-mailed you at last!

Welcome all newbies - how have you managed to get through your pregnancies thus far without ranting and raving as we have at one another?!

Silk - you don't need a slap honey - I would be thoroughly miserable if that were me. Vomiting has got to be one of the most demoralising aspects of pregnancy - so violent and yucky and horrid. And I doubt there is anyone on this thread who hasn't had a little 'leakage' during a sneeze/laugh/cough. hugs

Off to watch neighbours.

LizzieO · 04/09/2007 17:13

Hey girls

Hope your all tickety boo !!!!!
and welcome newbies !!!!

Sorry to hear about your miserable day Silkcushion, I think we sometimes think that cos we are preggers we should be permanently blooming and in a state of grace, when in fact our hormones are taking us on a roller coaster ride and our bodies which we have come to know so well are changing out of all recognition, its amazing that we manage to cope like we do you need lots of loving hugs.....and possibly some chocolate x

ps also have to prepare myself before sneezing and coughing

Gave in and weighed myself yesterday, have put on 2 and a half bloody stone , i'm hoping its all fluid, yes i have been eating more that usual but apart from big bump i don't look massively bigger around face and arms etc etc

We got out new carpet upstairs at weekend yeahhhhh.......two years without a carpet i can;t tell you how it feels to feel carpet under bear foot, properly nesting now, and got moses basket down at weekend

saw consultant yesterday day as have reached stage where i gave birth last preg, they asked if i was ok, then basically said ok we don't really need to see you at hossie anymore until birth !!! what a waste of flippin time.....oh and to take it easy as risk of going into labour anytime from now didn't quite follow this advice as went to see Polyphonic Spree last night at Astoria and they were feckin great, took all my willpower not to jump around, but def taking it easy from now on !!!!!!

Mrs J - hope all is going well with you, no its easy to say but pls don't let idiotic family members stress you out, sorry your feeling down, sending you a mental hug

take care one and all Lxxxxxx
