Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MotherofZ · 30/08/2007 15:59

my first love was my DH! Met him at uni and the rest is history as they say! (Although my family didn't approve of him at first and it took one year of convincing them that he was the ONE).

mixedmama · 30/08/2007 16:06

That is sweet. I think our connection is much more about what either of us think could have been, which in realty is prob nothing and honestly I couldnt imagine ever being married to him or anything. On the other hand when i met DH I knew he was the one and also sppent some time convincing my dad that this was the case and DH actually told me I was the woman he was going to marry the night I met him.

Why did your family not approve? My dad proob wouldnt have approved of anyone to be honest but it was mainly because he wasnt Turkish (even tho mum is English). He didnt talk to me for ages.

Welcome KarenLouise and congratulations on all being well at your scan yeah! Another healthy beanie!

Naetha ? glad you liked my furry babies they love having their pictures taken! sorry you have a phobia of kids I?m sure it?ll be different with your own

Cazzybaby · 30/08/2007 16:32

MrsMcJnr thank you for the comment - my mum tells me I will never get my figure back once had the baby

Scampynoodle · 30/08/2007 16:49

Just a quickie. How on earth do you all keep up with everything that's going on here? Whenever I pop on to say hello so much has happened that it makes me curl up into a ball under my desk amd beg for mercy.

Blimey.

All is well here by the way. Baby kicking the bollocks out of me, 20 week scan due next week, sickness and tiredness gone along with my waistline.

Oh, and I have graduated to tight tops rather than anything floaty. I'm showing off my newly lumpen figure with pride!

Love to all!

Sx

MrsMcJnr · 30/08/2007 16:49

Rubbish - my Mum has 3 kids and you should see her figure!

Cazzybaby · 30/08/2007 16:51

I'm gonna join a pushchair club once the baby has come along, they do outdoor exercise with the buggies looks like fun!!

Naetha · 30/08/2007 16:54

Loving the stories - making this afternoon go much faster!

DH was my first proper relationship - I'd had flings at school, but nothing had lasted more than a couple of months.

I came to Uni after having been single for a year and to put it mildly, was gagging for it. Not just the obvious, but just being with someone that gave a shit about me. At this point I was convinced I'd die a spinster and be remembered as the "old cat lady" that lived by herself and smelled of wee. I'm still not putting this off as a last minute career change.

I'd been at Uni a term, fallen madly in lust with about 3 different guys, and then been turned down or just got too friendly with them to want to jeapordise the friendship. I went back to Wales for the Christmas break and I was pretty miserable - I lived with my grandparents (who are lovely!) in a village, population 17. The nearest pub was 17 miles away. Thankfully, my grandmother was (and still is) a true pioneer and had a computer with the internet, so I'd often spend lots of time on the net in chatrooms and just browsing - I always was a sucker for information. One evening, I got an instant message from someone whose nickname was a random collection of letters and numbers who'd told me he'd searched for profiles of people who liked rock music and lived in Leeds, so we got chatting. Despite our ideas of rock music differing greatly (he thought Slayer, I thought Yes) and the fact I wasn't actually in Leeds at the time, we got on like the proverbial house on fire. He didn't even find out I was a girl until about 20 minutes into the conversation! (ahh the joys of the internet!)

So anyway, we carried on talking every night for the next week for about 5 hours a night, and even spoke on the phone a couple of times (nerve-wracking - trust me!). We arranged to meet up when I got back to Leeds, so on my first night back I nervously went to one of the student pubs (after informing about 3 people that I was going to meet someone from the internet for safety reasons!). As it happened, we both arrived at the door at exactly the same time, and it was a case of "Are you...er..." both at the same time. Bumbling introductions made, we went in, he bought me a pint of bitter (which I'd never drunk before) and we were off! I went back to his later that evening for nothing more sinister than meeting his cats and watching TV! We met up the next day to go 10-pin bowling and it just went on from there. Four years later we got married, and 7 years later we're expecting our first baby!

I was a bit nervous about meeting someone in this way, but it turned out to be great, as we really connected, and after 7 years we're definitely best friends - many times its felt like its the two of us against the world!

Wow apologies for such a long post! I get a bit carried away sometimes, hope it swallows up some of your dragging afternoons!

Naetha · 30/08/2007 16:55

Cazzy - think they do synchronized pushchairing a bit like synchronised swimming? That would be great to watch!

Oh dear, brain is a bit addled today!

gingeme · 30/08/2007 17:34

Neatha lol I get that feeling when all mine are together too
Battymama Pizza Express Picadilly Circus. Evening of 19th September. When you say evening what time are you thinking of? First time meet ups are quite funny. When I had mine with ds4 and I think I was about this pregnant then too I kept seeing 'larger' ladies thinking 'is she pregnat?' Could this be so and so/' but when they walked straight past I felt a bit embaressed. I was mega early too which didnt help.
We went to Mothercare to look at buggys. As were after a double one there wasn't realy alot of choice and the one we did like didnt come with cosey toes. Will probably opt for the one from Ebay. Plus it was a nice blue. I think some buggys look so dreary in blacks and browns.
Well Im off for a trim so I can atleast see under my fringe.

LilyLoo · 30/08/2007 18:33

Not sure about that motherofz more like a manic run !
I have never really loked at anyone's profiles before and it is odd to see what you all really look like!
I think you should all take laptops to meet up so me and mrsmc and others who live too far away can join in

Jenswish · 30/08/2007 18:56

Hello all,

Sorry I haven't been here for a while but I had my house broken into and the computer stolen a few weeks ago and cos of the floods I can't seem to get anything back quick enough.

I'm now 22 weeks and due on 2nd Jan (moved up a day) I managed to resist the urge to find out the sex.

How is everyone? Can someone give me an update?

LilyLoo · 30/08/2007 19:06

Poor you Jenswish
Am hoping things getting more back to normal.
Lot's of general chatting posts but everyone good on the hwole. Lot's of scans around now and everyones have been good so far. Just a few posts down we have been adding our flavours!
Hopefully Mrsmc will be around tom to give you a full run down

toomanyshoes · 30/08/2007 19:26

I would definitely reccomend the baby whisperer book too, I found it so useful when I had DD. Definitely worth reading before the baby arrives so you feel more prepared, my copy is well thumbed and have lent it to lots of pregnant friends since!
Read Gina Ford too but much too strict for my liking!
Feel like a giant fat hippo today, I have started walking in that strange way that only pregnant women have. God knows what I'll be like come december!
I might well be able to make Pizza express on the 19th, will do my best

gingeme · 30/08/2007 19:59

Excelent toomanyshoes. Just remembered something. When we went to Mothercare World earlier we saw a recyclable crib! Yes realy. It was made entirely of cardboard. It was meant for babys from birth up to six months. I thought it was a brill idea seeing as our baby will be in ds4's cot before long but it would do in the mean time but dh thought it was a stupid idea

BWMum · 30/08/2007 20:20

Had our scan today (at 22 weeks) and glad to say everything was perfect! Bean was moving around a lot and at one point drummed its little feet against the side. So sweet!!

We didn't find out the sex as we want it to be a surprise, I'll update the list in a sec.

We have an appointment at John Lewis this weekend to look at prams, car seats, cribs etc (look only though, leaving the credit card at home!). My SIL bought us a pack of 7 bibs with Monday to Friday on them and said "oh, but I expect you'll use them all the same day" - which was news to me, I didn't realise I'd need more than one bib a day! Clearly I'm a very ignorant first timer so hopefully I'll at least have a list of what to buy once we leave JL, even if I don't yet know what to do with it....! Might also look into the books you were discussing.

Good to hear everyone is well.
xx

Morning all,
Hope you all are well
Gosh MM you are early this morning - thought I was the usual early bird. Are you leaving early tonight then?
It's my birthday on Sunday - horray!!!! Actually it doesn't seem like so much of a big deal because soooo many things have been happening and it seems like my birthday has just sprung up. Probably go out for a nice meal - something Indo-Chinese fusion tickles my fancy!
As for why my parents didn't approve - similar to your sort of story- they had ideas about the type of bloke I should marry and I had other ideas (i.e my hubby!)
Well it's Friday - can't wait to have a nice relaxing weekend....

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 08:27

Yep finishing at 4.00 pm to go home and sort out my house ready for mum and dad coming back tomorrow and they are coming straight to mine from airport for lunch and stuff. Want to have a nice long bath before DS comes home as well as feeling very uncomfortable yesterday and today.

mixedmama · 31/08/2007 08:28

Happy Birthday for Sunday as well. Hoping to be on hols for the whole of august next year so DH and my bdays and anniversary will all be in nice hot climate and we will actually be able to do something and celebrate.

Where about's in Turkey are your family based? I went to Cesme about 5 yrs ago. A nice little harbour town, and served one of the best donner kebabs I've ever had.
Actually had a donner kebab last night, feel so bloated and fat this morning now....

BeckyAu · 31/08/2007 08:36

Morning ladies

Ooh I feel like I'm on the naughty step for not contributing enough - I'm so sorry! I always fail to get involved in the chat as I am on the computer generally first thing in the morning and in the evening so I'm never around at the right time. I read all the posts though

I love to read everyone's posts and find you all a constant source of information, support and fun. I send my apologies for being basically rubbish and not joining in enough.. Sorry and I hope everyone has a lovely day xxx
