Hellooooo there

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
barristermum · 22/08/2007 18:20

I heard you are supposed to announce a due date around 14 days after your actual date so that you don't get continually harrassed with "any news" contacts when you are least in the mood for them! Obviously I have been unable to comply with this advice due to slow-thinking/innate honesty/etc etc.

MotherofZ · 23/08/2007 08:10

Morning all!

Spoke to DH about things and decide I will apply for the job. I'd like to see how far I can get in the selection and interview process (even though they might be biased against me since I am pregnant), so it will be a bit of personnel development even if I don't get the job. And IF (which is a big IF) I do get the job, I am going to try and negotiate starting after my maternity leave with this employer - if they really want me they will they will wait and if not - then so be it! I think for me, knowing that I have tried will be good enough. Plus I believe things happen for a reason, so we will see.....

It's wierd - all this year I've been looking for that next step up the career ladder and it suddenly turns up when I least want it to and expect it to!

beller · 23/08/2007 08:27

Morning all!

Lillyloo - Not sure if I have a choice...I called the doc again yesturday to make it clear I would still very much like a homebirth, she said still ok to talk to midwife about it at 26 weeks....so will see!

Mrsmcjnr - A woman here worked up until 39.5 weeks (HOW i dont know )..and she was told by her midwife she was rsking an emergnecy c section...and did! Not sure really the whys and wherefor's, but i think it was to do with not being relaxed etc?

Motherofz - go for it and good luck! xxxxx

Me...I sold my car last night!! Woo-hoo...got asking price too...sad to see my pride and joy go ( not gone yet), but babybel is obviously worth it hahah
So I have to go car hunting..think at moment its between a Toyota Rav4, VW golf, or a peugot 307?
Wasp sting still hurts! not as bad as yesturday, but can still feel it constantly!
Hope all is well with everyone xxxxxxxx

MotherofZ · 23/08/2007 08:35

Beller - Pegeuot 307!! (Only because I got one aswell!!)

LilyLoo · 23/08/2007 09:10

Good luck then motherofz
Oooh Beller i really want home birth too. Was speaking to a friend yesterday about hiring a birthing pool anyone know how to go about doing this ? Has anyone done it as i really wanted a water birth with last two but couldn't. My midwife very pro home births Beller so hope it goes well when you ask your midwife.
it is another sunny day here, can't believe 3 days in a row! Am off to hosp at 2.00 can't wait feel really excited yet kind of too as this is likely to be last scan i will have as we are not having any more babies after this one so am enjoying pg but am at how fast it's going. Can remember counting away the days with first one!
I agree with not finishing too soon if your well. I finished 2 weeks before with both mine and was fine, ireally think it depends on how you feel in yourself. But you find that everything is ready before you finish and you do get bored sat around waiting for it to happen. Despite everyone telling you to enjoy the rest!
Mixedmama saw your other thread hope everything sorts itself out with the house.
Hope everyone else ok and has a good day

MrsBiscuit · 23/08/2007 09:42

Beller - good going on the car. Nice to get it sold quickly . We test drove a couple last week, including a completely impractical coupe (just to keep dh happy) and off to try out another couple this weekend. It's hard to know what is most practical, as I'm so unsure about what is going to happen workwise after the baby's born.

Fluffymummy - can't believe you got told off for your weight . I know I'm eating too much but as long as I'm getting a good quota of vitamins, fibre etc I'm not going to deny myself a KitKat here and there!

MotherofZ - good luck with the job application, I hope it all goes well .

Envious of all those feeling movements, as all I can feel is wind .

LilyLoo · 23/08/2007 09:44

Mrs B it doesn't feel much different to that tbh at first just more of a 'bubbling' sensation.

MotherofZ · 23/08/2007 09:46

Am geting a lot of kicks mostly at night - am thinking I might be having a nocturnal bean!

mixedmama · 23/08/2007 10:36

Morning all,

Had a good night out bowling (altho i didnt bowl) with work which is nice as I am trying to ingratiate myself with them, incase I do want to come back into the city when i return to work. They are massive so good to keep them on side.

MotherofZ - great that you have made a decision. Keep us updated. Good luck.

Lilyloo - thanks, have another agent coming on saturday and just going to say I want a realistic, achievable price and a quick sale and get on with it then live in peace.

OP posts:
beller · 23/08/2007 10:56

Lillyloo- thats good to hear! When i spoke to a midwife when I got my bood resluts, she was pretty pro too, but shes not MY midwife! I have been looking at these pools

www.birthpoolinabox.co.uk/birth-pool-eco-mini.html?gclid=CKbMuKe78o0CFQMfEgod1l_KOg

M otherofz- I think its between the golf and the Peugot at mom..if i went for the peugot I would have another £3-4k in my maternity pot! But people keep saying about safety issues? I looked it up , and i think that was old peugots?

Mrsbiscuit- good luck with the car decisions, its doing my head in at the moment!

Mixedmama- glad you had a good night out..im looking forward to a relaxing weekend..apart from looking for cars etc!

MrsBiscuit · 23/08/2007 11:12

Beller - I have a Golf and love it, though it's only got 3 doors so we need to change it. One of the cars we're looking at is a Passat estate (bigger boot), though like you, I'm balancing up the money side too - dh doesn't have a financial bone in his body and is merrily considering all sorts of ridiculous options.

MamaMaiasaura · 23/08/2007 11:36

It is so busy on here HI everyone.

Beller - fab you sold you car so quick (I have to sell my 3 door corsa. Good likttle car but far too small for growing family!).

MOtherofZ - def worth applying for job, although think if you took it would stuff up maternity allowance. It would however give you more options.

MrsMcJnr - glucose tolerance test is for gestational diabetes testing. I had it with ds and he came at 38 weeks and weighed 8lb12oz so would have been over 10lb if i went term (dont want to think about how big if i was late!). They want to check if i have it with this one. Hope you arent too tired out fromj friend and children My niece went home last night, she was very very very hard work.

Welcome scrummydelish

DP has to go to Japan again they were trying o get him out there for 6 long weeks. He managed to get them to agree to 2 trips of 2 weeks each. Going to miss him sooo much. 1st trip is around 24 Sept, which mean ds might be in for op at the same time. Also dp will miss another antenatal, although is coming to see obsterician on 4 Sept. Next one is around 19th November (his birthday) for another 2 weeks. When he comes back i will be about 36 weeks. Hope this one doesnt come early like ds. Will have to get Christamas all sorted in October I think as wont manage hiding ds presents up in loft when am that big! DP will try and get flexible ticket for Nov trip just in case. My midwife is going to also come and see us at home before dp goes so he can hear heartbeat and also to give him a birth run down! Will be his first dc and we arent going to get to classes as he is away.

Another long post sorry I got some more sleep tho last night

Still got funny tummy (diarrhioa (sp) ). I do moan alot lol Just helps to type it out iykwim

MamaMaiasaura · 23/08/2007 11:38

MrsMc - just saw about your mw appt - lovely to hear little bveans heartbeat and glad you BP is holding up. Re movements, wont be too long before is keeping you awake at night .

I dont get too high up kicks, think is because my placenta is at the front and top.

barristermum · 23/08/2007 12:58

Beller - well done on car! How fab to have that done and now just needing to decide how to spend the cash!
Lilyloo - I think it must be first pregnancies that crawl along - I couldn't get over how slowly time passed especially in the first 8-10 weeks - it's speeded up a bit but not by much.
MotherofZ - good for you, nothing ventured, nothing gained, and you have to plan your future for the sake of little one's future!
Glad you had fun bowling mixedmama.
(this is beginning to feel like a mrs mcjnr post!
And poor Awen and dh - miserable he is having to go off and leave you and even ds when due op. Much sympathy on that and on poorly tummy.
And alas, here it is raining and I have heaps of work to do if I don't want to have to work on bank holiday, but I have no motivation! Grrr.

beller · 23/08/2007 13:30

Awen - I sold mine on auto trader and was £44 for 3 weeks on web and paper? So pleased to sold so quick, but it was a great car..has gone to a beetle enthusiast though..so a good home! Sorry DP has to go away...Im sure you will miss him loads xx

Barristermum- this is my first and I think its whizzing along?? Cant belive im 22 weeks already?!

Mrsbiscuit - think im going to test drive the Peugot and the golf at the weekend and make a decision from there x

Naetha · 23/08/2007 14:59

Hello all

Well done on selling the car Beller - I tried to sell my old 125 motorbike through auto trader, but didn't get a single call Unfortunately the market's a bit full at the moment, so I'll have to sell it for a lot less, or actually use my imagination to sell it!

Anyone know anyone that might want to buy a Yamaha YBR 125 in mint condition for £1500 near Bradford? OK OK I'll stop now - you can't blame me for trying though!

We get to pick up our new car - a Mazda6 next week, we're both really really excited! Of the Golf and Peugeot 307, I'd take the Golf, but it depends on the price difference. If you're considering a nearly new car as well, the VW Jetta is a Golf with a Passat sized boot - a great compromise. We're upgrading from a Vauxhall Astra which has been great, but since moving we're driving a lot more miles, and up a lot more hills so really need a diesel engine - really looking forwards to all 143HP of the Mazda!

Got another day off work here today - still got this stinking cold and continuous headache. I've been absolutely flat out at work recently, so I think its one of those things thats caught up with me once I've relaxed a bit. Still getting plenty of movements - DH felt one for the first time last night (ice cream is a great trigger!) but was just like I was in the beginning - "was that one?? make him do it again!!"

Jobwise - I think you have to at least apply for the job MotherofZ - even if its just a case of registering your interest, if they really want you, then they'll be prepared to bear you in mind either now, or in a year(ish)'s time.

Awen - sorry your DP is going to be so far away - I know I just couldn't cope at all. DH was going to go to Australia with work for 6 weeks in April, but he stayed back as we were in the middle of trying to buy this house...come to think of it, if he'd gone I wouldn't be as pregnant as I am, as he would have been away when we conceived...fate eh!

Anyway, apologies I'm babbling! I hope you're all feeling great and making the most of the lovely weather

mixedmama · 23/08/2007 15:13

Naetha - think you have sent your cold my way. Woke up yesterday with a really sore throat and thought I am gonna catch this straight away and downed the Lemsip and herbal teas with honey all day. Today have a headache, hot flushes, been sick and runny nose and sneezing. DH has it too as does DS.

OP posts:
Naetha · 23/08/2007 15:23

I'm soo sorry Mixedmama, it really does sound like the same bug - my only recommendation is to take time out - don't push yourself and make yourself suffer even more. My only warning is go easy on lemsip if it has pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (sp?) as its not recommended to pregnant mothers. I haven't been having more than one lemsip a day, and just sticking to paracetamol the rest of the time.

hall's soothers are great for the sore throats though, and as far as I'm aware you can eat them until you feel sick

mixedmama · 23/08/2007 15:41

Oh, will bare that in mind I thought it was just paracetemol really. I only had two yesterday one in the morning when i got to work and one at about 10 pm. Crazy turkish herbal teas the rest of the time... very basic stuff.

OP posts:
Naetha · 23/08/2007 16:18

I'm convinced if you drink enough tea it will make anything get better

PBirdy · 23/08/2007 16:22

Hello all

My posts are getting fewer and fewer - work has been busy!

I am trapped in an Interaction training session at present and have just figured out how to log onto the internet (naughty!)

Having the flu when you are pg is just horrible. One thing that worked for me was saline spray for my nose - helped me get to sleep with a blocked nose.

Anyway, I have not done a catch up on the posts but will do so now

Hope everyone is well.

mixedmama · 23/08/2007 16:29

wiish my nose was actually blocked - bloody thing is driving me mad... tissues everywhere.

Hello all back from scan and all's good. Was a bit hairy for a moment as baby wasn't playing and it took her ages to find one of it's legs, which turned out to be folded up it's bcak, not very comfy looking
We didn't find out but dp said she said 'there's her eyes' !
Dd will be really chuffed although i will be surprised as i was sure it was a boy! Oh well time will tell. Weird as i got my overdue apt today as well on the 10th Jan am hoping i will be sat at home with baby then!
Spoke to the midwife r/e homebirth and ambulances on new years eve. She said they rarely have to ring an ambulance and if they do then it's there if they ring it!
Will check out that site Beller can't access it through the link, thanks! Although just got dc's a paddling pool and it's massive so might just use that.
She said they make two visits at 36 weeks to drop all the gear off and to make a check of our house! Will be just before xmas even baby will be getting it's own xmas delivery of pressies.
Hope it goes well on Sat mixedmama as if yoyu need to be unwell on top of everything.
Poor you Awen it's awaful to be on your own especially as you get further along, ps i have same birthday as dh!
Well off out to sit in sunshine and relax now!
