@happydays00
I’d happily say no way to the Xmas plans. We usually host everyone here, but said early on there is no way we are doing it this year-we are having a year off.
Next year I’m sure we’ll be happy to host again, but we fancy a really low key day this year with no visitors! We may drop in on some family for a few hours on Boxing Day but that’s it.

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 16:42

iano try and rest when you can my contractions started up a bit like that but some were 2 mins apart and others 8. It went on for a long time and i was exhausted.

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 16:44

Congrats sugarsprinkles !

Puglover88 · 09/09/2019 16:49

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops big congratulations!! Hope you’re enjoying lots of snuggles!

@Megan2018 wishing both your animals a speedy recovery - is your OH able to take on the logistics of contacting vets and so forth to take the load of you a little?

@happydays00 I’m in the exact same position funnily enough! DH is Irish and we alternate between Dublin and UK every Xmas. This year we have said we’ll be staying at ours as I’m really not comfortable flying with a 12 week old. That’s all we’ve said really and they’ve been ok with that. Especially considering you’ll have 2 children and will have a long journey from the airport, I’d say you’ve got a very valid reason to not fly over this year!

iano · 09/09/2019 16:51

Doing my best @IVEgottheDECAF
It's quite hard though as they seem to ramp up when I'm trying to sleep

Megan2018 · 09/09/2019 16:58

Unfortunately @Puglover88 DH leaves the house at 5.30am for work and can’t help with the vets, he is on paternity leave from Thurs so can take over once he is home but not tomorrow/Weds.

I just have to hope he improves before I go in-if the cat is in the vets and I’m in hospital I’ll be beside myself with worry Sad as the hospital and vets are a long way apart (about 1hr 20 on rural roads).

Puglover88 · 09/09/2019 18:30

@Megan2018 that is an early start, I do not envy your DH! Fingers crossed your cat improves then before you go in 🤞

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 09/09/2019 19:00

Thanks ladies! Grunting is calming down which is good- he's on withdrawal observations as I had to take codeine throughout the pregnancy so glad that's not getting worse! DD (just turned 2) came to visit briefly and fed him a little bottle & helped change a nappy, she was incredibly gentle and so happy with her new baby who she wants to call "snowman".

Not sure about names as yet, have a shortlist but nothing definite & now I don't feel like he "looks" like some of the names we'd originally planned so will give it a few days and see what we come up with.

Hope everyone else is plodding along nicely- either babies make an appearance soon or the ones that are here, find their love for sleeping!

Horehound · 09/09/2019 19:57

@happydays00 no way wpuld i be travelling to a full house at xmas. No way.
I'd just say "I'd prefer a Xmas just the 4 of us this year".
I got good news when PIL visited yesterday..they told me they'd booked to go abroad over Xmas.. hurray!
So we will be having a quiet one, possibly go to my aunt and uncle for the meal itself but deffo a quiet morning and evening.

@iano hope things progress well!

Dipsy77 · 09/09/2019 20:02

Congrats #sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops Smile

I've tried everything over the last few days, induction date Sunday 15th and id much prefer to go naturally 39+1 today.

I've been for a long work attempted a very hot curry that gave me an upset stomach, I've been eating dates for a few weeks now and I bought a ball today which I bounced on this afternoon and I now have terrible fanny daggers but no contractions as yet think she is staying put until Sunday !

BBell2 · 09/09/2019 20:03

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops congratulations!

@kyles101 I'd still have swung for him having been team green for nine months!

I've had masses of cramps today, but dont know if I'm usually racing round the office or after DD and too busy to notice OR it's upped its frequency but it is sore.

Had my 38wk MW appt. And she didnt know I'd had a failed ECV, or 2 additional scans since I saw her at 36 - the systems dont appear to talk to each other at all. She was explaining my breech birth preferences are very dictated by the DR on at the time - the midwifes or a single breech expert who will let me birth on all 4s, over ball etc. the rest can insist on legs in stippups in theatre. It isnt what I really want to hear. Going to see a MW friend tommorrow and see how much i can influence the process.

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 20:03

I am planning an easy Christmas. Im thinking all prepped veg etc from m&s.....

Iano hows it going? I got so tired during my labour i ended up having pethidine at 7cm to knock me out between the contractions. But then i really struggled to push because i was sooooo far out of the zone.

DustyDoorframes · 09/09/2019 20:24

@decaf blimey you did get a grim old 5th time of it!!
Hope things are either speeding up or you are asleep @iano!
@happydays00 you are totally entitled to staying put for Xmas! We rotate each year between three countries for Xmas, and usually get to a second for new year. Nobody has batted an eyelid when this year we've said we are staying put! I think we might have a houseful though - but we would have been able to say no to that too. Next year can be an Ireland year!

@BBell2 stirrups???? What century are those docs in??? Surely that's just going to make it trickier!!! I know some hospitals do have very few people who have much experience of breech births, so I can see how it would be a bit of a lottery depending on who is on. Fingers crossed for a last minute flip over...

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops awwww Snowman it is then! DC1 is lobbying for Violet, which seems oddly reasonable.

DustyDoorframes · 09/09/2019 20:50

Oooh, for those of us still in the running, Lidl has maternity stuff and baby stuff from Thursday! My one and only remaining comfy bra is a breastfeeding one from their last round of maternity stuff...

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 21:00

Dusty i think its mother natures way of making sure there is no dc6 lol

Horehound · 09/09/2019 21:00

I had stirrups!

DustyDoorframes · 09/09/2019 21:04

Hah decaf I was wondering how you were feeling in that front! So far I've felt super broody immediately after giving birth, but I can't see that happening this time, I've had enough of being pregnant!

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 21:13

I am trying to soak up all the newborn-ness. He is perfect. I would love another. But another pregnancy or birth would push me over the edge. I would also probably turn into the Radford woman

BBell2 · 09/09/2019 21:32

@Horehound, @DustyDoorframes stirrups last time too, just for a bit, only when the doctor got involved trying to take bloods from the babys head and it was the worst bit. Midwives can apparently crawl on the floor under you...a doctor needs to "see what they are doing properly". Its Archaic if they expect women to progress naturally like that!

Stroan · 09/09/2019 22:11

@happydays00 @puglover88 ditto to the Irish DH! We used to alternate Christmas, plus trying to keep everyone happy - spent a fortune every year and we ended up exhausted and miserable. As soon as we had DD we told everyone that we'd be having Christmas at home and there was an open invite to visit. My parents are cool with it, although they work on Christmas day so can't ever visit. In-laws - not so much. MIL likes to assume that we are going to my parents so she can be upset. The first Christmas we spent on our own was absolute bliss.

Frankly, I want to spend Christmas somewhere I can make it magical for my children. That's at home. I might be a bit weird though, because we always spent Christmas at home growing up.

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops congratulations! So pleased they sorted your pain meds too.

@IVEgottheDECAF I can't believe you just said you would like another 2 days in! I am definitely done. DH told me yesterday that during my section, when they were trying to decide whether to remove my ovarian cyst, I told them to just take the whole ovary because I wasn't planning to need it again! I was in hypo and out of it so didn't remember that Blush

kyles101 · 09/09/2019 22:16

@Dyra its so hard isn't it, I think we've just done day 2, or 800, of strict 3 hourly feeds. It's relentless. I have a weigh tomorrow so fingers crossed. No jaundice here but I can't imagine that helps with the sleepiness either does it?

@Horehound it's ok I speak newborn text too 😉 desperate not to go back in... getting a bit stressed about it 😬

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 22:17

Haha. I said i would have another snuggly newborn! Not the pregnancy or birth though or hormonal preteen

Stroan · 09/09/2019 22:43

@dyra @kyles101 I did days of scheduled feeds every 2.5 hours to get his weight back up. He lost 11.8% and we were SO close to going back in. But it changes really quickly and we are back to feeding on demand - he gained 11oz last week so it's working. I guess what I'm trying to say is hang in there, it's hard and relentless but will be over soon.

@ivegotthedecaf another pregnancy would end me. I'd happily have a section again though.

DustyDoorframes · 09/09/2019 22:52

Blimey re stirrups @Horehound and @BBell2 ! I honestly thought they were not really a thing anymore!

YES @decaf! It's that total perfection and snuggliness. "Look this is perfect let's make another" feeling (DP gets more of a "look this is perfect, nothing could match this life is now complete" feeling instead...).

@Stroan with your pregnancy I'm not surprised you were happily offering to have your ovaries hoiked out! Mine has been a million times easier than yours (or @decaf 's for than matter) and I've had enough of this game. With the other two I felt a bit like I'd discovered a superpower (I can MAKE PEOPLE! With my BELLY!) so why on earth wouldn't I keep using it...

IVEgottheDECAF · 09/09/2019 23:10

This pregnancy made me feel really OLD (I'm 31) and like my body has really taken some abuse in creating five additional people in less than 12 years!
