@horehound our hospital is crap for bf, so is the birthing centre attached to it so fully expect it to be rubbish for support-but the small standalone birth centre is fabulous and my community MW will visit me there if I like and she’s great. I just need to hope we are both well enough to transfer to it. They have a 1:2 ratio of bf HCA to patients and only 8 beds. It is usually only 50% full so most women get a dedicated HCA.
2 of my NCT class gave birth there in Aug and had brilliant support so I’m optimistic, one of them was only 1 of 2 patients for 2 days so there were more staff than patients!

Horehound · 08/09/2019 16:14

Ah ok that does sound good then @Megan2018 :)

challengeyourreality · 08/09/2019 16:53

Congratulations @IVEgottheDECAF! Still no baby here 39+4. My mum came over to help so I have the house ready and entertainment for my dc. Can't wait to keet her now. Going to try ALL the things from this eve. Pineapple. Raspberry Leaf Tea. Sex. Curry. All of it. Any tips welcome Grin

KnobJockey · 08/09/2019 16:57

Challenge sex before curry might be a clever way round!

IVEgottheDECAF · 08/09/2019 17:35

You have to eat the pineapple core challenge

iano · 08/09/2019 18:07

Ohh I didn't know that about the pineapple core!

DustyDoorframes · 08/09/2019 18:12

My mum arrives in 10 days (I'll be 38+1). I've just realised that the"what is for dinner" challenge is going to really level up- I'm GD and can't manage dairy. She's veggie and hates coconut (which is a key non dairy, non meat fat to balance carbs for me...). Thankfully my kids are not fussy, but it's going to be Menu Challenge time...

Puglover88 · 08/09/2019 19:42

@DustyDoorframes that does sound like it’s going to be a menu challenge! What about quorn spaghetti bolognaise or cottage pie?

NCT bbq went well and everyone bought a dish and DH did all the meat so was actually very little work for me!

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 08/09/2019 20:20

Congratulations @IVEgottheDECAF glad he's finally made an appearance for you!

Got my c section tomorrow (under GA) & just been called to say I'm second on the list. Really beginning to panic now Sad last time I woke up & was so sore & none of the painkillers helped for the first day so I'm dreading the waking up this time if it's going to be as bad! Beyond the first day was fine so just need to get through tomorrow Confused

Megan2018 · 08/09/2019 20:22

Arrrggghhh!!!
Why will the universe not give me a break?!
One of the cats is now ill, so tomorrow I’ll be juggling horse vet and cat vet. Worried sick. God knows how we’ll manage if it is something serious once I’m in hospital. Have been off work now for over 3 weeks and not once have I had a day to myself to just sit and relax and get my head together, induction fast approaching and I am sick of rushing around. I know it’s our choice to have animals but FFS why do they need to be ill now?!
I could literally cry.

KnobJockey · 08/09/2019 21:01

Oh Megan I'm sorry to hear that. Don't panic about it until you know it's a problem- I know that's easier said than done! But have a cry if you need one, then see what the vet says.

I've spent today scrubbing our rental house ready to give the keys back this week. Luckily had lots of help, but I can't believe I'm not in labour yet after the work I put in in the bathroom!

DustyDoorframes · 08/09/2019 21:09

Glad to hear it went well @Puglover88 ! Yeah, I think I'm going to have to do some of that sort of stuff. I generally keep away from "meat substitutes" but needs must I guess.
@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops good luck for tomorrow!!!! You can do 24 hours, you can! At least this time you know it's likely to be much better after that which has to help- and you know you did it once so you CAN do it again. You are hardcore!

Oh no @Megan2018 !!! That's atrocious timing!

@KnobJockey v impressed by your cleaning! I've barely done any for ages, DP is doing most of it...
I'm suddenly overcome by a desire to buy some baby clothes (despite having tons of handmedowns ), I remember you had some good pointers for lovely bright things- I've been looking at HEMA and H&M. Any other thoughts??

KnobJockey · 08/09/2019 21:18

DP has just asked, what are these plastic boxes of clothing in the spare room. Well, they're my normal clothes, that I boxed up to make room for maternity clothes. Oh right, so are your maternity clothes going in these then? Ha, no, good try! My maternity clothes are going straight on eBay, to friends, to charity shop, no chance are we doing this again!

KnobJockey · 08/09/2019 21:24

Puglover, I bet you're shattered now still!
Sugarsprinkles, try not to worry about tomorrow- warn them in the morning that you struggled with pain afterwards last time, see if they can offer you something different?

DustyDoorframes- yes to the shopping! I'm sorry I can't remember, do you know what you are having, and do you prefer neutral brights or gendered?

DustyDoorframes · 08/09/2019 21:31

@KnobJockey it's my second girl but I'm after neutral brights (DD(3) has succumbed to grandma's constant offer of pink peppa pig dresses, but I can still resist for this one...)
V tickled by your DP's nice try re your clothes.

KnobJockey · 08/09/2019 22:09

Haha, the lure of Peppa pig is strong! Well I do have a couple of brights that err more on the girly side, but I have them as neutrals.

gap cherry print I have quite a few caddis from here to use as outerwear, lots of stripes, and all sale.

Boots have 20% off some stuff at the moment, and some of my favourite prints are the 2 for £9 offers.

I have loads from h&m, and I love the leggings and knitwear from Zara.

Some of this Kite stuff is fab, I might order!

Fortheloveofscience · 08/09/2019 22:18

Oh Megan that does sound stressful - fingers crossed your cat’s ok. I’ve worked on the assumption I’m not going into labour this week and have booked in a lot of pet appointments - dog groomer weds, pony dental on Thursday and cat vaccinations on Friday. Chances of me remembering to cancel if I go into labour “early” are zero I think!

IVEgottheDECAF · 08/09/2019 22:21

As someone who very recently went through a really drawn out exhausting labour i would like to remind everyone not to over do it before the big day!

DustyDoorframes · 08/09/2019 22:59

Thank you @KnobJockey. Boots! Yes! I'd forgotten how surprisingly good they are.
Good point @decaf.

Right- my hospital bag is finally packed, bar a small list of non-crucial things I still need to buy. 37 weeks tomorrow so it's definitely time...

Moraxella · 08/09/2019 23:58

@IVEgottheDECAF how did it all go?
I played a round of golf today. Mind over matter when it comes to this pelvic pain 🤦‍♀️Getting frustrated there’s no signs (39+4). Also terrified of it happening.

sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops · 09/09/2019 07:15

Thanks @DustyDoorframes @KnobJockey hopefully it won't be as bad as last time! I'm going to try to make sure I speak to the anaesthetist before I have to go down to make sure I get more painkillers before I wake up than last time.

I managed a grand total of 20 minutes sleep last night because I'm panicking so much about today 🙈 got to be at the hospital for 8am and am second on the list, same as last time which worked out around 11am so only a few more hours of panicking left either way I suppose!

Horehound · 09/09/2019 07:28

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops woo wishing you all the best!

Fortheloveofscience · 09/09/2019 07:30

Good luck @sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops!!

itakephotos · 09/09/2019 07:32

Good luck @sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops look forward to hearing your news!!

It's my due date today and still no signs 😩 feeling a bit fed up now

Puglover88 · 09/09/2019 07:33

@sugarsprinklesrainbowdrops that’s a good idea to speak to the anaesthetist- best wishes, will be thinking of you today! x

@Moraxella a round of golf? I’m impressed! And I’m the same, I just want to get it over with now but don’t have any signs at all yet but at the same time, I’m f**king terrified!!

@DustyDoorframes good job on getting your bag packed! I repacked mine yesterday and realised I’d forgotten a few key things! My bags huge now though, it’s going to look like we’re moving in what with my bag, the baby’s bag, pillow and potentially a birthing ball! 😬

@Megan2018 sorry to hear that your animals are causing such worry, hopefully it’s nothing serious!
