@bessie84 sorry that you're still having palpitations. I'm still having them too and ended up going to a&e yesterday because it's been 6 days now and my doctors said just to go there because they can't do much about it. They were really good and did an ECG and blood tests and finally found out the results of my heart scan and ECG that I had at the beginning of the month and everything came back normal. Great to know that everything is fine but frustrating to have to put up with them! Hopefully they calm down for both of us soon x

doublebarrellednurse · 29/11/2019 07:59

Ah sucks for those of you having palpitations still it's so uncomfortable and worrying! I had them at the beginning, used my watch to get some ECG and it wacky lol.

Can't wait to get to the end of this week I'm exhausted. My best friend and husband are coming from Devon (we are in Derbyshire) for a visit and I could not be more excited 😆 lots of Christmas stuff to be done :)

Cupcakes1234 · 29/11/2019 22:33

Been for my growth scan today as my midwife measured me on the small side when I saw her Tuesday. Baby girl is completely perfect and growing as she should. Estimated at 2lbs 11oz 💗 so relived she’s fine and also that she’s one million percent a girl lol 💗 29 weeks tomorrow

45andfine · 01/12/2019 08:35

Awww that's reassuring! Have they booked you in due another later on our are they now happy everything is going along nicely?

I'm not booked in for another check up until 36 weeks, but thinking I'll book to see midwife next week at 32 weeks, just in case!

Pinkcat231 · 01/12/2019 08:54

I was up five times with cramp the other night Shock only thing that gets rid of it is drinking loads and standing up even though that’s a chore! It’s all to do with a build up of acid in your muscles or something so you have to keep hydrated which I’m terrible at!

Cupcakes1234 · 01/12/2019 09:39

@45andfine no they don't need to see me again unless my midwife has anymore concerns. She's measuring bang on where she should be now Smile

Dweebette · 01/12/2019 12:50

Anyone have any opinions on nursing chairs? Trying to decide if it's worth buying one or not. Have tried to find a second hand one but there aren't any on my area so would mean a bigger investment

lovesT · 01/12/2019 16:45

@Dweebette we don't have much space (or lots of money!) but I decided I would like a chair to sit in when breastfeeding. My husband has bought me one for Christmas from Argos, it's not specifically a nursing chair but I like it (from what I've seen online). Might be worth a look there? It wasn't too expensive. Otherwise Facebook marketplace?

45andfine · 01/12/2019 20:09

IKEA have a nice chair with arms and wing head rest which is a good feeding chair. But tbh, I think it's an expensive luxury. Night feeds best conducted in bed and daytime feeds made more comfortable with V Pillows.

doublebarrellednurse · 01/12/2019 20:21

Husband took a bump picture today, I feel massive but I keep getting told I'm small, it's an odd brain melt, anyone else's brain not functioning with their new body?

Dweebette · 01/12/2019 22:21

Thanks, I'm so on the fence. On the one hand I think it would be nice to have a comfortable place to feed upstairs but likely will only feed up there at night so maybe in bed is better (first time mum, no idea how anything works!). On the other hand, is it just an expensive luxury that I'll never use? Decisions decisions!

Ginny1234 · 01/12/2019 22:37

@Dweebette I'm a first time mum and having the same dilemma. I'm a bit scared if feeding in bed because I keep reading about how bad it is if you fall asleep with the baby on you in bed. I think bed might be too comfy and so a chair will be less so and safer? Also could be over thinking and worrying too much!

I had bump measured last week and it's 1cm too big from the average so in the 95th centile. That's fine right? I mean they can't really be that accurate from a bump measurement can they? Paranoid I'm too big because people keep calling me massive 🙄 @doublebarrellednurse - I think I'm fine with you body until other people pass comments! I'm mostly just wanting to do everything right so the baby is ok so suggestions that I'm too big make me feel sensitive about not eating/exercising properly.

It's not easy this pregnancy lark!

sulkysukey · 02/12/2019 08:49

I had a nursing chair for my 2nd and never really used it. When you're feeding 5-6 times through the night and they're next to your bed, it takes a lot of discipline to get out of bed and onto a chair. I never fell asleep while they were feeding though so I guess the chair would be technically safer, but the reality at the beginning is they feed so frequently I found it impractical to keep walking to the chair each time. But it came in useful for bedtime stories a couple of years later!

I'm sure having a 95% size bump is fine @Ginny1234 - they'd have referred you for a scan if they were concerned. My bump was right in the centre of that chart at my 28 week appt but then baby was >90% when measured on the growth scan so I don't think it's amazingly accurate. My bump was measured in the morning and I know it gets bigger through the day!

45andfine · 02/12/2019 10:14

A chair in the nursery IS lovely for bedtime stories! Otherwise you end up cramped on their bed... And invariably fall asleep!!

Also struggling with body issues, but focusing on fact it's temporary and it will all disappear in a few months!

My tummy measurement was spot on but baby size was slightly small at the scan. I don't think it's overly reliable. We all carry differently, my body is quite short, which means baby has to push outwards. My sister much longer in body and she barely had a bump!

Cupcakes1234 · 02/12/2019 15:22

@Ginny1234 I really wouldn't worry too much about what they measure you at. I was sent for a growth scan last week because I was measured at 26cm at 28 weeks when I should have measured 28cm but when I went for my scan she's absolutely spot on. The lady doing it said everyone is so different so they can't expect everyone to follow the same chart

Ginny1234 · 02/12/2019 21:37

Thanks ladies. I need to stop worrying about everything! 😊

lovesT · 02/12/2019 21:39

My tummy was measured at slightly above the line and then a week later I had to go back and was just below the line but pretty much on it so it seems to change so much so quickly! Midwife was happy though, and like people have said everyone carries so differently. Can it really be that accurate? 🤷‍♀️

I've also felt baby have hiccups more recently, it's not all the time and cute to think about. Must be a normal thing to happen?

hazandduck · 04/12/2019 21:17

Hi all just catching up! I am the same some people say how huge I am and then others say how ‘neat’ I am!! Yesterday my hygienist didn’t even notice I was pregnant...I was like erm are you joking 😂

Gave notice of my maternity leave today! I have a lot of holiday to take so my last day at work is the 18th of December woohoo!

How is everyone feeling?? 31 weeks tomorrow and I feel like my lungs are being squashed and I can’t get a full breath 😩 baby was transverse at last check.

Regarding nursing chairs, we didn’t specifically have a nursing chair but put a comfy armchair up in the nursery and we still use it every single night now to read a story and give our 2 year old milk for bedtime. I 1 million per cent recommend. It was essential for us in establishing a bed time routine. I wouldn’t recommend using one in the early days with a newborn as it is easy to nod off when you are so tired and not used to wake up calls which is dangerous. I found getting cold and perching on the edge of the bed for night feeds was the only way to stop myself falling asleep feeding, but that phase passed shockingly fast and then you really do need somewhere to sit when they get a bit bigger.

I am going to have a next to me type crib this time, DD hated it and used it once or twice, she loved her Moses basket but I’m
going to try and get this baby in the next to me this time from the start so I can just easily reach over for night feeds.

45andfine · 06/12/2019 18:56

A friend bought me a baby belt today, I thought they were a gimmick, but... It's been lovely relief today, whole new lease of life! It does roll up from the bottom though which is really annoying!

hazandduck · 07/12/2019 10:24

Ooh what belt is it @45andfine? Glad you’ve had some relief! Can’t believe my due date was 2 months yesterday. X

45andfine · 07/12/2019 14:59

It's from blooming marvellous.

Time is doing a weird thing isn't it?! Going so fast and slowly at the same time! My working days drag and I physically struggle thru them, but the baby count down days speed by!

LolaLollypop · 08/12/2019 10:04

30 weeks today and feeling much bigger and much more pregnant atm! The baby is moving around LOADS, especially at nighttime Hmm. My sleep has taken a hit lately. I'm finding it very uncomfortable being in bed, trying to lay on my side and with the baby moving around so much.

Was also up til 1am with heartburn Angry Thats only going to get worse with all the Christmas indulgence I have planned!

Stopped cycling into work now so I have to deal with all the rude commuters on the tube. I always feel so awkward getting on with my Baby on Board badge! Hate waiting to see if anyone offers me a seat (usually a woman rather than a man!).

How's everyone else doing?

doublebarrellednurse · 08/12/2019 18:52

I feel you @LolaLollypop on the sleep thing, I'm not sleeping well at all and am 29 weeks.

We've had a super busy weekend and two nights in heels has destroyed my pelvis 😫 rest and heat and back rubs needed +++.

29 week scan tomorrow so early night tonight.

Ginny1234 · 09/12/2019 17:45

I can relate to the baby movements all night and interrupted sleep 😴 had an awful day on Friday where baby had turned around In the night and had been ruthlessly kicking me in the guts for hours!! Felt so sick all day and had a presentation to do to a load of visitors so was such a struggle to get through the day.
Thankfully, he seems to have moved out of that position now. Fingers crossed he do go back 🤞🏻

doublebarrellednurse · 09/12/2019 19:21

Had 29 week scan today and baby dead on the mid line and looking well and still a girl 😂

Actually starting to get a bit excited, next week being the big 30 and all.
