@45andfine it's so crazy how different my bump is this time - much more bump like but smaller and tidy. Everyone keeps telling me I'm tiny!

doublebarrellednurse · 11/10/2019 18:35

Had my midwife birth planning appointment today and I'm really reassured that they are supporting me to have a VBAC. I had a horrific birth last time so have been very anxious.

lovesT · 11/10/2019 18:47

Has anyone had their maternity certificate (the one to give to employers) yet? I have my next midwife appointment next week but then have half term and the following week (at the end) I'll be 25 weeks. I will be able to give it (hoping that I get it at the appointment) just before 15 weeks but feeling a bit anxious as it's so close and everything says at least 15 weeks!

Probably panicking over nothing but the maternity leave bit feels a bit daunting.

45andfine · 11/10/2019 21:16

@lovesT I'm having exactly the same worries! Seeing midwife Monday of half term, but as school is shut even if I email it they won't get it until I'm nearly 26 weeks. I'm contemplating emailing them next week and sending certificate later?! Assuming you're also a teacher and due early Feb... When are you going on maternity, how do you make sure you don't miss out on being paid for holidays?!?

45andfine · 11/10/2019 21:18

@doulebarrellednurse that is a proper bump. I just feel like a whale!!! Glad you've got support for your VBAC so important to at least start off getting in control.

lovesT · 11/10/2019 21:23

@45andfine yeah it's recently started making me stressed! But online says that you get the certificate the appointment after your 20 week scan. Yes I'm due mid February and I'm a TA at a school 😊 I should mange to get it to them as long as I get it at the appointment but I don't know if I'm supposed to be doing anything else?!

I also didn't give them anything in writing when I told them, I just told them but they didn't ask for anything and have been good about it. I'm assuming once you give the certificate everything is done for you?? And how will we know how much the pay will be? Not sure anyone can answer these but that's what's confusing me 😄

But yeah maybe it's worth giving them something in writing if you think you might be late giving yours in? Or ask your doctor for one sooner?

Pinkcat231 · 12/10/2019 06:08

@lovesT and @45andfine I asked my midwife about the certificate as HR at my place were asking and she said I could pick one up before my 25 week appointment so you could try that. I couldn’t be bothered and just told HR to wait but there’s no half term where I work! Sad

Pinkcat231 · 12/10/2019 06:14

@InOmniaParatus13 Glad I’m not alone in the whooping cough pain, that’s why I’m awake now! I know it’ll be nothing compared to childbirth but ouch Shock

45andfine · 12/10/2019 06:14

@lovesT those are exactly my worries! We are part of big academy these days which means that HR department is like one big black hole, stuff goes in, but you never get anything out! The certificate is suppose to trigger a return date ( 52weeks) and a pay calculation I think, as well as enabling school to claim your maternity pay. I'm thinking of leaving at Christmas (36 weeks) but don't want to not get paid for Xmas holidays, so don't know whether I have to put first day of spring term as my last day?! I'm complicated. Will you be able to make it thru to Feb half term?

lovesT · 12/10/2019 07:59

@45andfine I work at a small school but everyone is always so busy it's hard to meet with anyone! But looks like we're in the same boat. Hopefully handing in the certificate leaves it out of our hands and they deal with it but maybe chasing it up every now and then is a good idea if you're worried. I'm due 14th Feb and I'm really hoping I can go as close to Feb as possible, probably won't make it to half term as I'm technically due then 😄 but it would hopefully be quite close to then, I hope they're okay with that as I feel like Christmas is too early for me and I'll just get bored and restless! 😕

InOmniaParatus13 · 12/10/2019 09:39

@Pinkcat231 sorry to hear you're suffering with the whooping cough pain too! I didn't know if it was me just being a wimp! I hope it eases up for you soon!

lovesT · 12/10/2019 11:17

I agree with the whooping cough pain! It was so painful for days and couldn't sleep on my left side. I have my flu jab in a couple of weeks too.

doublebarrellednurse · 12/10/2019 21:00

Both my arms killed for 2 days after the jabs! You're not alone ladies 😂

I hadn't even thought about my MATB1 form, I'm not seeing community midwife until 28 weeks now!

When are people planning Mat leave? I'm going Feb 14th if I've not given birth by then!

hazandduck · 12/10/2019 21:26

Sorry ladies just catching up! I have had the worst sinus headache this week 😖 and have moved in with my in-laws as we are having a new bathroom and our bedroom done! It’s...an experience 😂

Yep I totally agree about the whooping cough, I genuinely didn’t even feel it really and then the next day oh my word I couldn’t lift my arm at all!! I’ve not had my flu jab yet, thanks for the reminder!

I have got my maternity exemption somewhere but god knows where - I got it at 17 weeks which was 6-7 weeks ago now and I have no idea where I’ve put it. Seeing my midwife on Monday any way!

@doublebarrellednurse wow that is close to due date! I am planning to finish at Christmas 🤣 can’t face going back in January it’s just too bleak. My new leave starts in December and I still have lots to use, it accrues whilst I’m off so I’ll have a new batch next December to tack on to the end of my mat leave. I worked out on a calendar the other day I have something like 16 days left at work (part timer.)

It’s terrifying how fast this pregnancy is going!!

TheSeaWitch · 12/10/2019 22:12

Hi everyone, can I join in too? I'm 22+1 today, due on Valentine's Day! I'm having a girl, another girl as I already have a very excited four year old daughter. I'm currently being monitored very closely because of preeclampsia in my last pregnancy, and have been taking low dose aspirin every day since 15 weeks.

lovesT · 13/10/2019 08:27

@TheSeaWitch welcome to the group, and congratulations on your pregnancy 😊 you have the same due date as me! And we're also having a girl, but it's our first 🥰 that's good that they're taking extra care of you.

hazandduck · 13/10/2019 17:52

Welcome @TheSeaWitch aw a Valentine’s baby would be lovely! One of my best friends was born on Valentine’s Day and was almost called Valentino!

doublebarrellednurse · 14/10/2019 07:22

Welcome @TheSeaWitch ❤️

Pinkcat231 · 14/10/2019 08:59

Thanks @InOmniaParatus13 no definitely not you being a wimp, it’s day 3 and still painful!

I’ve been run down like I’ve had a cold all weekend too, think I’ll plan anything else I need for earlier in the week so at least I can enjoy the weekends lol!

Welcome @TheSeaWitch Smile

Dr273 · 14/10/2019 10:34

Has anyone heard about whopping cough vaccines? Had a text about 'flu inviting me to a very specific appointment when I'm working, but nothing about whooping cough. The leaflet the midwife gave me says I'll hear at 20 week scan... but didn't. Not sure I can do 24-25 week appointments because they'd fall across the 10 days of a festival I'm working, so will have to be later.

lovesT · 14/10/2019 11:11

@Dr273 I was told to book it with my doctors which I did and had it a few weeks ago (I'm 22 weeks). Just ring the doctors 😊 my flu jab is a couple of weeks away.

Anyone else get hip pain? I'm only getting it when I sleep, as if I've been camping and slept too much one side. It's fine in the day but sore at night 😕

IrishAceyMac13 · 14/10/2019 15:30

Hey all,
I hope everyone is doing well! I had to nip into the drs earlier, so got my blood pressure checked whilst I was there and it was normal thankfully! I’ve not heard anything about my urine that was sent off either, so I’m gonna assume all is well!
Off to the hospital again on Thursday to see the consultants and also the asthma clinic afterwards, hopefully my blood pressure will be normal again then! I’m going to ask about the support belt too, anything to ease this horrendous hip pain!
Lovely to see the bump pics, here’s me at 22 weeks last week, I feel so uncomfortable like I’ve stuck a basketball up my top 😂

hazandduck · 14/10/2019 19:31

@lovesT that description of the hip and leg pain is exactly what I have. Ugh it’s horrible.

Saw my midwife today. She really made me feel so much better about the birth. Just pray she’s on duty when my time comes!

Lovely bump shot @IrishAceyMac13 mine feels big but actually I think it is normal when I see everyone’s bump shots it looks about the same! X

lovesT · 14/10/2019 20:05

Yes it is horrible! And I feel like an old lady when I get up because my lower back and hip is sore haha. I have my next midwife appointment on Friday so I'll tell her about it then.

Has anyone been buying anymore things? I'm picking up some more bits tomorrow from marketplace 😄 a bunch of lovely baby vests for £10! Also a really nice pram second hand for £90 which is amazing! Think I'm a bit addicted to fb marketplace ...

bessie84 · 15/10/2019 08:32
