Had my 20 week scan yesterday. Definitely a boy! All well apart from my uterus was having a "fluctuation" and they couldn't really see how far away from my cervix the placenta as it looks close so it's down as low lying and I'll be rescanned at 32 weeks and hopefully it's moved!

Quirkyquichie · 17/09/2019 12:00

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well. Its been A long time since i last posted. Back in July, eeesh sorry about that.
Only had my first scan just on the 5th sept. They've dated me 5 days ahead of what they said previously based on LMP. So it turned out i was bang on 16 weeks.
I know its only 5 days, but it has totally messed me up, im now struggling to remember how far along i am. I have to keep checking my app. My memory is terrible!
On A plus, i dont have as long to wait for my next scan, which they booked in for first week in October. Managed to miss my blood tests, after waiting hours, i gave up and left.
I've been put under the consultant, with 3 extra scans booked in after the October one, and have to take daily aspirin.
My due date was moved to 20/02/2020 which i thought was a pretty cool date, however i know i wont be going full term. They're looking to induce me around 37wk, so looks more like i might land in very late January or very early Feb. I think the 02/02/20 would be also be a cool birthday.

No idea on gender yet, im nearly 18wk.

Sorry that was long.

Lcw29 · 18/09/2019 09:14

I'm 17 weeks today. Been in alot of pain with spd . Just waiting for physio to start in October. Does anyone use a support belt? What is best?

Still kept the sex a secret from hubby. I tell him on 2 weeks . So excited! But paranoid it's going to turn out girl at 20 week scan lol

Cupcakes1234 · 18/09/2019 12:02

@PixieLoo I haven't felt much either. I'm 18 weeks. I've had the odd little kick but nothing regularly or strong but I think it's because of where my placenta is.

I have my 20 week scan booked for the 27th so not long and will get them to confirm she's definitely a girl lol.

LE1991 · 18/09/2019 12:12

Im due my second on 29th Feb but im feeling this is wrong and they will most likely make an apperance 2nd March or there abouts. Getting excited now ive got a bump!

Dweebette · 18/09/2019 12:35

This may be a silly question but how can you tell if it's movement you're feeling or something else (digestive related??). Last night and again just now I've had what sort of feels like rolling in my lower abdomen. It doesn't feel like popcorn or flutters. Could this be baby moving? How do I know??

hazandduck · 18/09/2019 12:47

Yes I felt flutters at the very start (14 weeks ish), it kind of feels like a very tiny finger tapping inside, or sometimes like bubbles popping. I know that sounds so weird!

But the rolling and thumping and pushing is normal especially the further on you get. Baby now feels like it is thumping, or sometimes like the pressure of someone rolling their fist kind of over your lower abdomen but inside. I am not explaining this very well! For me it doesn’t feel anything like wind or anything else I’ve ever felt. I knew with my daughter (I felt her at 14 weeks too) that it was definitely the baby and not indigestion or anything else.

I did it to Dh with my fist the other day and the feeling really weirded him out he said he definitely wouldn’t be able to handle how horrible it felt 🤣 I said mate this is the nicest bit of being pregnant lol. Imagine how bad the rest is! Haha x

Hope everyone is well. Got my 20 week scan tomorrow. My in-laws are having Dd for the afternoon so DH and I are going to have an afternoon in town and if all is well with the scan go and get something just for baby. We’ve not bought anything yet for him/her so I’m excited x

PixieLoo · 18/09/2019 13:45

@Cupcakes1234 and @hazandduck thanks for explaining the feeling a bit more! I have felt the odd twinge in my stomach but I just put it down to a bit of pulling and prodding of my uterus as that's what my midwife had said it might be! She said as it's my first I may not feel anything until 22 weeks +.

I just phoned my ultrasound department as hadn't received any letter still (and I'm 18 weeks today!) and she apologised that they were running behind a bit but I have got an appointment and it's for 3rd October! It's not until 4:30pm though so I have all day to worry lol!

I am so happy I finally have a date to look forward to, I was worried they'd forgotten about me! 😂

bessie84 · 18/09/2019 15:58

hi ladies,

anyone started looking at prams? if so, what do you reccommend? some prices are utterly ridiculous!

x

Cupcakes1234 · 18/09/2019 16:46

@bessie84 we are going to use the pram from our first which my partners mum brought for us. It's an icandy peach and I love it so much. It was so lovely to use. Just need to get it all cleaned and tidied up

hazandduck · 18/09/2019 20:32

@bessie84 we had Joie everything with Dd which served us well but I am currently shopping around as I will need either a buggy board or double buggy! Not sure what to go for! It’s a minefield. Let us know what you go for. I think we will end up panic buying after Christmas 🙈

doublebarrellednurse · 18/09/2019 21:14

@bessie84 we are really lucky and MIL has bought the Giggle from Cossatto ❤️ it's very cute. You're right though the prices are mental.

I'm feeling the rolling stuff as well @PixieLoo, I've an anterior placenta so less likely to feel kicks but she's active in the evening a lot with that kind of movement. I'm only 17 weeks too.

45andfine · 18/09/2019 22:06

Had my 20 week scan today. So relieved everything looks normal. Apparently it's recommended that pregnant women have flu vaccine these days? I've never had one and have heard horror stories about being ill after one. Is this true? Anyone had one already?

Cupcakes1234 · 18/09/2019 22:15

@45andfine I know it's recommended to have the flu jab. I'm going to have it once I get back from my holiday, I did a little research online about it and there's no evidence you will get ill from the vaccine

Sushirolls · 18/09/2019 22:21

Hello Smile sneaking in here from the due March thread, as DD went for her 12 week scan on Monday, where she was told she was actually 18 weeks and 2 days!! DGC is now due on 15/02/20 Star

I hope it's ok to post? DD isn't on here.

Hope everyone is well Flowers x

Cupcakes1234 · 18/09/2019 22:25

@Sushirolls same due date as me 🙌🏼

Sushirolls · 18/09/2019 22:29

@cupcakes1234 🙌 How are you feeling? Is this your first? My beautiful DGS turned 1yr last week 🥰

dramaticpenguin · 18/09/2019 22:44

Hi All, I'm due 28th Feb too, like previous posters, also hoping it doesn't arrive on 29th. Also not 26th as that's my birthday and as one of my children was born on or first wedding anniversary, I'd like to not share any other dates! This is my third, after a big gap, got 2 boys who are 10 and 8. Anyone else with big gaps?

45andfine · 19/09/2019 06:51

Thanks @cupcakes1234 I just hate being ill, might wait until half term, though midwife said vaccine quantity was low in the country at the moment. Decisions decisions. Arm really aching from whooping cough injection yesterday! 🤔

45andfine · 19/09/2019 06:54

@dramaticpenguin my first batch of 4DC were born within 6 years, I have an 11 year gap now between youngest and this baby... Everyone says it'll really lovely as the older ones are able to get much more involved...🤞

Flower0503 · 19/09/2019 20:59

Hi, would love to join this thread😀 Currently 17 weeks. Next scan is 1st week of Oct. This is my 2nd baby- I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

doublebarrellednurse · 19/09/2019 21:59

Don't worry about the flu jabs ladies unless you have an allergic reaction it isn't a live vaccine! It's not how that kind of vaccine works. Some people are already ill and the jab may aggravate it as it'll send their immune system up but the jab itself simply cannot make you ill.

I have my every year (as nurse) and never got ill yet :)

doublebarrellednurse · 19/09/2019 22:00

@dramaticpenguin my birthday is the 25th, my wedding anniversary the 18th and I'm due on the 24th! 😂

It's a busy month with valentines in there too!

Lcw29 · 20/09/2019 07:03

I had the flu vaccine before and not had a problem Smile I'm having mine soon.

Although midwife has found sugar in my urine so have to have a gestational diabetes test soon. Bit nervous.
Anyone had gestational diabetes before? What implications dies it have on the rest of pregnancy? I'm already high risk because if pph last time so bit nervous about more complications....

hazandduck · 20/09/2019 12:47

I’m not sure @Lcw29 but it is good they are looking in to it now so you can be carefully monitored.

I had whooping cough jab this morning, it didn’t actually hurt at all. I was too focused on stopping Dd watching the needle go in 🤣 Her Dad is a fainter at needles and I don’t want her to end up like that lol.

Not booked flu jab yet I will have to get on with it.

20 week scan yesterday, baby is all good. We didn’t find out the sex but both think it’s another girl and we didn’t see anything obvious! So cute, baby had their hands up on each side of their face, we saw really clear images of the face, lips, feet. Forgot the detail (and how long it is) you see at that scan x
