@Lcw29 I had sugar in urine with my first (think it had something to do with NEEDING a WHOLE walnut cake every day...) - I had the glucose tolerance test (you have blood taken before and after drinking a cup of lucozade) and my results were borderline for GD - I didn't need any specific treatment but was told to avoid sugar for the rest of the pregnancy (which was hard as my craving was pretty much anything sugary, so ended up eating lots of artificially sweetened stuff instead which I'm really not a fan of). But just because you have sugar in urine doesn't automatically mean you'll def have GD (and even if you do it's great to have it picked up and treated/monitored).

I'm finding time is just whizzing past - can't believe it's 20 week scan time already - I'm 18+3 and mine is next Thurs. I'm having definite kicks now (and can sometimes see my tummy moving with them) which has made me feel a bit more relaxed (and I def have a bump now).

Hope everyone's feeling ok - can't believe how much better I feel that the first trimester (although keep having the odd day of being deadly tired - had to literally prop my head up at work the other day!) Brew Biscuit

hazandduck · 20/09/2019 16:16

@sulkysukey I found the tiredness hasn’t lifted at all, I have taken to napping most days with my toddler and going to bed at 8pm most nights...rock and roll!

Lcw29 · 20/09/2019 16:36

@hazandduck I know how you feel! I'm in the same boat with my toddler

hazandduck · 20/09/2019 18:48

Ah glad it’s not just me!! I’m absolutely exhausted this time round. How old is your toddler? Mine is 2 in November and still naps for 2-3 hours..hoping this continues until she’s about 3 😂

Lcw29 · 20/09/2019 19:57

@hazandduck mine is 2 in October and is the same with naps. Hes an early bird too. Up at about 5 every day. 😴 I can't wait to get to bed most nights atm.

OccasionalNachos · 21/09/2019 04:53

Anyone else awake at the exact same time every night? HmmSad

21+5 now: bump is very much there all the time. It feels so strange. I used to be a couple of stone overweight a few years back & had a big belly so just assumed it would feel like that, but it really doesn’t!

Lcw29 · 21/09/2019 05:10

Not every night but tonight I've got severe acid reflux and gaviscon has done nothing. Been up since 3 as in so much pain. Now just waiting for my little boy to wake up....

Cupcakes1234 · 21/09/2019 08:53

I woke up at 25 past 3 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. I was so uncomfortable I ended up just sat up on the bed in the end. But I'm definitely starting to feel some lovely kicks now! I have my 20 week scan on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that. Nearly half way there!

Ginny1234 · 21/09/2019 10:25

I'm also awake in the early hours because I'm really uncomfortable, joint aches and pains and acid reflux. Gaviscon is useless and actually swallowing it makes me feel sick!
Sitting up in bed since 3am again this morning but at least I had my 20 week scan pictures to look at and keep my spirits up 😊

Dweebette · 21/09/2019 12:51

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one still getting the tiredness! I'm 17+3 and continually exhausted but really struggling to sleep as I'm so uncomfortable with hip pain (an old injury, aggravated by lying on my side). Have been feeling quite a bit of movement over the past few days though which is just lovely

doublebarrellednurse · 22/09/2019 13:27

Hey all nice to see us all progressing well ❤️ I'm still not feeling kicks but can feel her when she rolls over.

My son plays football for our local league team and she was all over the place (exciting game). I'm having to sit for matches now as standing means I tend to faint 😂 my BP is low so no long periods of standing. Becoming a bit of an issue at work 😬

My pelvis at the front is sore as anything now. Have body pillow to sleep with which is helping.

Consultant appt. this week for VBAC. I have to have a hospital birth which is not what I wanted but reassured that I have a good chance.

Lcw29 · 22/09/2019 15:21

Well I've been in bed mostly as I felt so sick I couldn't do anything but have my head near a bucket... gagged doing my teeth....so good for my anti sickness meds. I'm sure I should be feeling better at 17 weeks not worse right?

hazandduck · 22/09/2019 15:55

@OccasionalNachos I wake up the same time every night! Need a wee, then lay awake feeling sick for an hour and trying not to panic about giving birth again! Why do thoughts like that haunt you so badly in the small hours?!

Also totally agree the weight gain is different. It’s very hard to adapt to carrying all your weight in the middle!

@Lcw29 I’ve just accepted I am going to feel on and off sick until the baby comes I think! Had to take an antisickness last night. It’s hard because they just wipe me out. But I’d rather that than sickness. Hope yours lifts soon :( Mine has improved the last couple of weeks (I’m 20 weeks now) and isn’t every day! So hopefully yours will x

doublebarrellednurse · 22/09/2019 19:47

@Lcw29 with my son it settled at around 5 months pregnant, I was on injections and all sorts when pregnant with him. You have my sympathy.

Quirkyquichie · 24/09/2019 07:35

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well.
Is there anyone who's not yet told friends and work colleagues they're pregnant? Only people I've told is my mum, and my boss.

doublebarrellednurse · 24/09/2019 07:40

Sadly I had to tell quite early cause it limits parts of my job and I didn't want my colleagues to think I was slacking

InOmniaParatus13 · 24/09/2019 09:53

Morning!
Just had my 20 week scan and little man looks absolutely perfect.
Sonohrapher gave me a fright when she said she would guess a girl, then he opened his legs and she was like no no that's 100% a boy hahaha.

Just waiting for blood test results then i can go home. I was so anxious for this scan as it's so detailed and I just want him to be healthy.

Here's my boy, he has his mouth open, he's absolute perfection I love him so much Smile

BFP - Anyone else feb 2020? Continued ...
Quirkyquichie · 24/09/2019 10:28

That's the only reason I told my boss, is falling asleep in the toilet. My job is very manual so i ended up taking a couple of weeks off. By the time i went back people have just assumed ive been off with my shoulder, so I've not corrected them. My normal job is Doable, albeit at a slower rate now. They've just stopped moving me elsewhere to cover the really heavy jobs so no one has questioned it. Due to my job and the cold im wearing my normal extra layers so i just look a bit chunkier any way.

Lovely looking Scan InOmniaParatus13. Did he wave for you? Hope the blood tests don't take too long. At mine they make you wait around 2 to 3 hours after the scan just to take blood.

InOmniaParatus13 · 24/09/2019 11:54

@quirkyquichie thank you! He didn't wave but he was covering his face then decided to turn to face me and move his hands so I got to see his gorgeous face!
The sonographer said I needed to wait for blood test results, but the woman just gave me my notes back and reminded me about my appointment with maternal medicine in Thursday, strange!

Im currently waiting for the train home, it absolutely poured it down to the point where the roads were flooded so I'm absolutely soaked, I'm just so happy my boy is okay.

I'm currently getting some extremely hard kicks so I don't think he's best pleased with me for disturbing him at the scan haha.

hazandduck · 24/09/2019 12:55

Aw lovely scan of your boy @InOmniaParatus13, glad all is well.

I had a mare commute in this morning, the rain makes everyone drive like a dick! 🤣 My in-laws live next to a school and they have dd when I’m at work so I had to get through a chaotic school drop this morning!

@Quirkyquichie I didn’t tell anyone really with Dd until I was about 24 weeks ‘viable,’ however this time I’ve been way more relaxed, I think because I have felt so rough I couldn’t really hide it lol.

Last night my poor Dh made me 3 different dinners that I couldn’t face. I ended up opting for a lemonade lolly 🙈😂

Hope everyone is well x

Cupcakes1234 · 24/09/2019 21:04

I've had a wobble today! I've felt movements a little for around a week now but yesterday and today, nothing. But I had to remind myself that I do have an anterior placenta and she's still pretty small so maybe just hiding somewhere. I have my 20 week scan on Friday and I honestly can't wait to see her again and just check everything is ok!! Currently just having a soak in the bath and an early night will do me some good hopefully as I've been so tired!!

lovesT · 25/09/2019 14:47

@Cupcakes1234 it's so lovely when they move and then so worrying when you don't feel anything for a bit! I had the same wobble the other day because I thought I didn't feel as much movement, but then they gave me a few kicks and yesterday kicked me in the bladder so that was great :) haha. I don't know when you are supposed to be more vigilant but Tommy's charity and lots of other advice says that if your movements slow down or stop it's good to ring your midwife that day, or at least someone who will know more. I don't know if we are quite in those weeks yet but I will be asking on Friday too when we have the scan! It's better to be safe though. I hope you get some nice strong kicks today to reassure you :)

I work in a primary school and they rang me on Monday to let me know that one of the children has suspected chicken pox and today possibly another one, so I'm waiting for a call from my doctor tonight to see what they say. I'm hoping the advice is just to stay away from that child (they're not in my class, the one below, so should be fine) but I don't want them to say I can't go in! Anyone else work closely with children/ in a place where things are likely to spread?

hazandduck · 25/09/2019 18:11

How are you feeling @Cupcakes1234? I think wobbles are normal! I sometimes have them then remember I am relatively early in to have a proper pattern of movement yet.

@lovesT I believe it is from 25 weeks? But not 100% sure.

Cupcakes1234 · 25/09/2019 20:51

I'm feeling better (hip and back pain aside) thank you. I've just had a couple of slight nudges while writing this so I'm feeling good. Just fingers crossed she behaves on Friday!

Yes it's 24 weeks your baby should have a pattern so I think they will see you for assessment from then onwards

doublebarrellednurse · 26/09/2019 08:42

Anyone else hormonal and out of control?

I'm crying at everything and it's just not me!
