@FirstTim3Mummy ha - yay! Grin

shamyloo · 16/08/2019 07:31

20 weeks today, officially half way!

Bubblebubble123 · 16/08/2019 09:55

Aw yay, congrats @shamyloo. I’m 20 +2. It’s such a lovely feeling to be half way there!

peanutbaba · 16/08/2019 14:39

Hi again all! Lovely seeing some more scan pics.

We had our scan today, and after saying I was adamant not to find out the sex we have done 🙈 definitely not disappointed as I wasn't bothered either way, but I do feel a bit disappointed in myself for not waiting til the birth to find out! Has anyone else experienced this? Or do I need to just get over it? 😂

mummabear18 · 17/08/2019 13:49

We found out the gender yesterday... 1st baby for us and it's 'unmistakenly' a boy - clear as day for all to see Grin. We're overjoyed! No way I could wait until the birth... IMO it's a surprise no matter when you find out and you have more time be excited to meet him/her, plus none of us have any idea what our birth will be like, if it's traumatic the surprise of finding out isn't going to half as good as finding out now

peanutbaba · 17/08/2019 15:37

@mummabear18 congratulations! And thank you for that, you make really good points there, especially regarding the birth!

I'm actually feeling better about it today and already more excited knowing the sex of the baby 😊 I suppose I feel like they have a bit more of an identity of their own now 👍🏻

mummabear18 · 17/08/2019 16:09

@peanutbaba glad it helped! And i completely agree.. they definitely have more of an identity now... I’ve never known someone to be upset/ preoccupied with certainty, only uncertainty and we have enough of that in our pregnancies without adding another item to the list!

shamyloo · 17/08/2019 21:20

@Bubblebubble123 yay! Congrats to you too! Agree, it's so nice to be here, can be such a worrying journey so feels good to be able to celebrate the little milestones Smile

Kinsters · 18/08/2019 02:53

Yeah I agree with the finding out being special whenever! I don't really like being pregnant so it's nice knowing a bit more about who it's all for. Plus finding out was such a sweet and special moment, the day she's born will be amazing anyway, figured it would be nice to have another special day!

Kitten22 · 18/08/2019 04:57

Going to be 18 weeks tomorrow Monday. Looks like quite a few mums here are already 20 weekers. Any of you who've had their 20 weeks scan get told the same gender as their 16 week gender scan?

Hanraa1 · 18/08/2019 15:44

@kinsters so glad you've said you don't like being pregnant! I don't either and been feeling a bit guilty about it as it's something I've wanted for so long.
Reassuring to know I'm not alone!

peanutbaba · 18/08/2019 18:51

@mummabear18 you're a wise lady! And thank you @Kinsters for your reply also. Makes me feel that I've definitely made the right decision 😀x

mynameisMrG · 18/08/2019 22:08

I don’t either @Hanraa1

SleepingStandingUp · 18/08/2019 23:49

Anyone else still suffering from regular headaches? Have BP machine and BP is great so not that. Even sex didn't help and I thought the endorphins were meant to get rid of it! Hate taking paracetamol but can't function otherwise

Kinsters · 19/08/2019 01:43

Hanraa1 yeah I've wanted kids for ages and always loved the idea of being pregnant but I just really don't like the reality of it! I want more than one and wish DH could carry the next one 😂

I get you on the feeling guilty though. I was saying yesterday to DH that I didn't like the kicking feeling and now I haven't felt her kick today and I feel guilty for saying I didn't like it! I love that my body can grow our baby and that she seems to be healthy and doing well, but I don't like how pregnancy makes me feel and the kicks just creep me out. Really hoping I get more used to them as they get more frequent. I was really disappointed when I found out my placenta was anterior but now I'm quite glad about it because hopefully it'll cushion most of the movements (and I do feel awful saying that because it's such a special thing to feel the baby move).

karryk · 19/08/2019 07:51

@SleepingStandingUp I still have them although mine don't seem to be related to BP (unless you can get them with low blood pressure? Confused) I think for me it's a combo of not enough sleep, not enough water and hormones! Hope you get some relief soon xx

SleepingStandingUp · 19/08/2019 08:07

I think my paranoia just goes headache in pregnancy, if it's BP then look out for preclampsia so I'm just relived it isn't linked to BP for me, although no idea what it is linked to. Headache didn't shift all day, made DH get me paracetamol at 6.30 am, slept an hour and it's finally shifted (largely)

Hanraa1 · 19/08/2019 10:41

@SleepingStandingUp @karryk yes I have been getting the worst headaches and it has been absolutely awful. Just constant, all day. I also have low blood pressure. Midwife has been lovely but just explained it is one of those annoying pregnancy things for some people.
Reassuring to know that its not just me though. OH bought me a cold gel face mask which helps a bit but does look terrifying!

HHG18 · 19/08/2019 11:57

Hello!
New to the thread! :-)
I’ve just been trying to read through to find an answer but I was just wondering if there was a FB group set up for this month? I m in a June 2018 one following a mumsnet thread and it has been fab! If there is one, could I have the link to join please? Thank you :-)! X

CatRash · 19/08/2019 13:06

@HHG18 Yes there is and it's very active. I think you need to message @Victoriaaaaaaaa with your email address so she can add you.

Morris26 · 19/08/2019 18:46

@Victoriaaaaaaaa hello! I can't figure out how to message you but please can I be added to the fb group? My email linked to my account is [email protected] and my profile pic is just me on my holidays sitting on a sunlounger with a weird hat on!!

Had midwife appointment today and heard baby's heartbeat for the first time Smile it was 150. Midwife said there's an old wives tale about higher heartbeats are more likely to be girls! Just for fun anyone else who's baby heartbeat in the higher range know the gender yet? Xx

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 19/08/2019 22:04

@Morris26 I've messaged you x

Kinsters · 20/08/2019 00:18

My girls heartbeat was super low up until 12 weeks then it was really quick!

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 20/08/2019 08:54

Ooh, I just found out my twins are boy and girl!! Super happy to be getting one of each 😁

Janeypi · 20/08/2019 09:25

@lifesnotaspectatorsport wow!!! how amazing! Huge congratulations :)
