Heat is definitely so much worse when you're pregnant. Its hot all the time in Malaysia but we have aircon everywhere, I feel so sorry for you guys who don't have that.

Can you get a fan? That does really help. You can put some frozen peas behind the fan to make a makeshift air con if it's unbearable hot.

mynameisMrG · 26/08/2019 10:32

We have an air con unit but it’s in my sons room. Might sleep in there tonight

Kinsters · 26/08/2019 13:50

Do it! Makes a huge difference. I couldn't survive without aircon. Really hoping the heatwave has finished by the time we come visit the UK next week!

Danimarie · 27/08/2019 11:29

This heat is unbearable isn't it! I really couldn't get comfortable last night - we have a fan but I might try the frozen peas! Thanks for the tip @Kinsters

I commute into London and today I didn't even get a seat (and was wearing my badge!) - not a great start to the day/week!

It is due to cool down from tomorrow isn't it? x

karryk · 27/08/2019 11:45

Well last night was a total bugger on the heat front! Toddler woke up at half 2 (argh) and took 45mins to settle..but I didn't get back to sleep until 5am...just before I was due to get up anyway! Dragged myself into work to find the systems are down so I'm now heading back home. Grin

Sorry to hear that @Danimarie I've been fairly fortunate on that front so far, apart from when trains are really packed! Maybe I just constantly look like I'm about to faint 😋

Danimarie · 27/08/2019 16:41

@karryk that was a bit of a result having to go home as the systems were down! Hopefully you can get more rest tonight!

I normally get a seat on the train but this morning was so busy, must be everyone coming back from the bank holiday! Fingers crossed I have more luck tonight :) x

Can anyone recommend a maternity bra? I'd dug out my old m&s ones from last time but they're killing me in this heat Blush is there such thing as a breathable comfy maternity bra? I'm pondering just looking for something 'normal' without the underwires for now Confused I think my rib cage has suddenly expanded in the last few days too - feel like I'm wearing a corset 🙈

SleepingStandingUp · 27/08/2019 22:33

What sort of size are you Karryk? I'm steuggling too, all my old ones are getting too small.

I'd recommend Boob or Bust to measure yourself you can tick to say you're pregnant and will give you what's always been an accurate size for me, even if it looks a bit "what????"

karryk · 28/08/2019 08:14

@SleepingStandingUp Oh thanks - I'll have a look! I'm usually a 32D but Lord knows what I am at the moment Grin the m&s ones come in small, medium and large - there's just so much material though, i don't need a parachute (yet)! Wink

WatchingTheMoon · 28/08/2019 09:45

Hi there, I'm new to the thread.

Pregnant with my first who is due in January! It's a boy (but we're keeping it a secret for the most part.)

We had a few issues with the blood tests, it seemed there might be chromosome issues but they turned out to be all ok, so we're back on track for a healthy baby.

I'm living in Korea with my Korean husband so obviously it can be difficult at times, there aren't many antenatal classes or anything like that, and a lot of cultural differences (my husband thinks the baby should co-sleep til it's 8 or 9! Fat chance!) but apart from the blood tests, it's all been great.

I have suffered from depression and anxiety for much of my life but weirdly being pregnant has made my symptoms go away. I thought I would never be able to get married and start a family (I'm 38 now and married for four years) so I am extra thrilled.

One good thing in Korea is that we get LOTS of scans, at least one a month. We have to pay but it's not so expensive (unlike the birth, which will cost a couple of thousand). It's SO NICE to see the baby and know everything is ok.

Nice to meet everyone!

splishandsplash · 28/08/2019 10:28

TMI ALERT **

I need help, I seem to be suffering with a lot of white discharge in this pregnancy, I sneezed and thought I peed a little bit but it seems it was just a big blob of discharge... I know disgusting but I don't know if I should be concerned?
I'm 21weeks pregnant with my first?
Any reassurance would be gratefully received x

PastaSauceHoarder · 28/08/2019 10:49

Hi @WatchingTheMoon, congratulations on your pregnancy with your little boy! I'm sorry about scares with the chromosomal issues, that must have been frightening for a while. Glad all is well though. Smile
It must be very reassuring to get to see your baby so often!

I wouldn't think theres any need for concern @splishandsplash, I get the odd crazy amount of discharge now and again - one of the hidden disgusting moments of pregnancy I think. 😂
I'm sure I read that you should only be concerned if its an off colour like green or yellow (as it could be a sign of infection) or if it contains blood. Hope that helps. Smile

Danimarie · 28/08/2019 13:46

@WatchingTheMoon Congratulations! Sounds like everything is working out perfectly for you :) How amazing you get to see the baby more often, must be so reassuring for you! I was sent for a genetic blood test as my nephew has a rare chromosome deletion and we found out my sister is a carrier too although we didn't know! Turns out I am also a carrier although symptoms vary from one person to the next - myself and my sister have had no side effects and we are now both in our mid 30's! My nephew does have some learning difficulties but he is in a mainstream school which is encouraging. It was quite a shock for me but luckily only 50% of people are affected who actually have the chromosome and the baby only has 50/50 chance of inheriting the gene. Glad your chromosome tests came back clear in the end!

karryk · 28/08/2019 15:15

@splishandsplash increased discharge is quite common - I've had a few sudden trips to the loo convinced I've wet myself to find it's just discharge. If it's a funny colour though or you're worried about anything, do speak with a midwife or doc 👍🏼

Had my 21w scan this morning - all fine (phew). Was lovely to see bub ❤️

Hanraa1 · 28/08/2019 16:17

@WatchingTheMoon congratulations on your little boy! My niece was born in Korea, my brother and his (korean) wife moved to the uk this year and she is now 3!
My sister in law couldn't believe how few scans we get in comparison! Must be lovely to see your baby so often!

splishandsplash · 28/08/2019 17:55

Thank you @karryk and @PastaSauceHoarder spoke with my midwife and she was like ' yeah it's normal, we don't mention it because it freaks out the mums that don't get more because the feel like something is wrong' I just wish they would mention it and say it's not all mums but thank you anyway x

SleepingStandingUp · 28/08/2019 21:17

I've joined a side. I'm team BOY Smile

Kinsters · 29/08/2019 02:17

WatchingTheMoon hello! I'm an expat mama too (although expat feels like the wrong word really). I live in Malaysia with my Malaysian husband. We also get loads of scans which I love. I was amazed how cheap birth is here, got a price list from the hospital last appointment and for an uncomplicated vaginal birth, two nights stay in a private room it's only £700 😯

Congratulations SleepingStandingUp!

I got some exercises from my physio yesterday which will hopefully help my hips - one of them I can only do in the morning though, by the evening my hips are too knackered and it hurts too much. Cut out crossing my legs at work and that seems to have helped a bit.

Janeypi · 29/08/2019 09:04

Congratulations @SleepingStandingUp!!! I'm team boy too... there seems to be SO many boys amongst us!

@Kinsters... wow £700 and two nights stay in a private room?! that's amazing! I'd be totally up for that Grin

lmason17 · 29/08/2019 10:44

Congrats on all of the boys! I'm definitely in the minority being Team Girl!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/08/2019 11:03

Twin Group at hospital has 6 sets, 3 of which are identical and all due within a few weeks. All the identicals are boys!
DS was also born in tbe year of the boy and most of my Bump To Baby group had boys

Hanraa1 · 29/08/2019 11:15

Had my 20 week scan today! All is well, healthy little baby. Legs still looking super long! Stuck to my guns and didn't find out but my OH thinks he saw a little something, so maybe team boy?
Baby was super chilled with legs crossed and sucking their thumb the whole time, I thought my heart might explode!!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/08/2019 11:34

Awww cute 😍😍

Janeypi · 29/08/2019 11:50

@Hanraa1 you've reminded me about my scan... My baby also had his legs crossed but cos we wanted to find out gender we needed him to uncross them... I then jokingly said, well I've got my legs crossed so perhaps if I uncross them he will... And he did!! SO funny!

He did also then kick himself in the head hahaha you can't win them all ;)

Hanraa1 · 29/08/2019 11:53

@janeypi haha what a funny little baby!! So nice to have sweet little memories to keep like that. Ours stood on its head in the first scan, was obviously feeling sleepier today!
