So maternity jeans.... I normally like river island for jeans but obviously they don't do maternity. Has anyone got any recommendations? I like skinny ones and they have to be a proper tight fit down the leg as I've got skinny ankles and hate them being baggy.

turquoiseturtle · 29/08/2019 15:28

Hi all,

I had my 20 week scan yesterday and all was fine - such a relief. It was wonderful to see the baby waving its little hands and feet about!

It seemed quite calm and tranquil in there. I’d assumed that when I can’t feel it kicking, it’s sleeping - but no, it’s moving about a lot, I just can’t feel it all the time (probably can only feel certain positions). Should be reassuring to those who aren’t feeling movement yet.

Hope you are all well xxx

turquoiseturtle · 29/08/2019 15:37

@emma8t4 I found Next ‘over the bump’ maternity jeans very comfortable, but I tend to go for boot cut so not sure about skinny fit! They do have a variety of cuts.

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 29/08/2019 17:09

Happy to read all the great scan updates!

Congrats @WatchingTheMoon - I had my first baby in China so similar levels of scans to Korea and Malaysia I think. Where in Korea are you? I've been to Seoul twice, oh my god, the food was amazing!

Luckily I get lots of scans with my twins too here - just had a routine scan at 17 weeks (delayed from 16 weeks) and they brought my dates forward to 18 weeks now based on the baby's size. Little porkers 😁 Appropriate for the year of the Pig 🐷

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 29/08/2019 17:10

@emma8t4 Love my H&M maternity skinnies

karryk · 29/08/2019 17:19

Great news @turquoiseturtle Flowers we had our scans on the same day! Indeed, it was so reassuring to see baby moving around even though I couldn't feel it. The little kicks are getting stronger now though. Just want time to fast forward slightly Smile

@emma8t4 I bought some skinny jeans from the Dorothy Perkins maternity range. Came up slightly big in my usual size but wearable. I think i might just resort to woolly tights in the winter Smile

Kinsters · 30/08/2019 03:48

lifesnotaspectatorsport I wanted a baby in the year of the pig so badly and just managed to get in there with this one! So have they adjusted your due date now based on the scan?

emma8t4 I have some Topshop underbump jeans which are skinny and a good fit in the legs but the underbump isn't ideal now bump is bigger. Not sure if they do overbump ones. I have some Uniqlo overbump ones which I love and find the skinny fit good (I definitely don't have tiny ankles though!).

SleepingStandingUp · 30/08/2019 09:50

@lifesnotaspectatorsport it's interesting they've adjusted your dates fro mtbe 12 wk scan rather than just assume they're measuring big cos they're big. The boys are good sizes too and we were brought forward by 4 days from the 7 weeks scan to the 12 but they won't adjust again after that, thry just measure them blbig

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 30/08/2019 18:44

Yes, they brought my due date forward 5 days to 23 Jan. So target delivery is now between 2-9th Jan if all goes well. What a start to 2020

OB said it's rare for babies to exceed averages at this gestation. She thinks it's more likely a measurement was off at the early scans when a millimetre either way can make a big difference. Anyway, I'm just glad both are growing well. My bump is still fairly small, amazingly.

@Kinsters Is the Pig a good year then? 😁

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 30/08/2019 18:47

@SleepingStandingUp They also recommended a steroid injection at 30 weeks 'just in case'. Has anyone suggested that to you?

SleepingStandingUp · 30/08/2019 23:31

That's 37-38 weeks? I'm looking at about 9th Dec(due 9th Jan)

Here if you opt for C Sec you get it steroid as standard, but not if you opt for vaginally. I'll have klexane (sp?) from 28 weeks, which is the one you get after a C Sec to reduce blood clots

I'm currnetly trying to work out how many clothes to pack in my hospital bag

Baby4mum · 31/08/2019 00:04

Hey Ladies!! So glad to be back! Had left the Jan 2020 thread #1 back in May when doctors thought I had a blighted ovum at week 6-7 week scans. I had lost all hope only to realise later at 10th week that the baby survived! Heart beat was heard just moments before they were going to go for a D&C! I am 20 weeks now and just had a scan today. Feeling relieved - So far so good!

Just a couple quick questions - Did any of you experience any sort of very little spotting at 20 weeks? Is it normal? Also, did anyone get a whooping cough vaccine yet? I had one today after the scan and 6 hours later developed hives on my legs. Any such experiences? I was a bit worried....

SleepingStandingUp · 31/08/2019 00:10

Oh wow, congratulations Bby4mum, what a miraculous baby you have!! I had the whooping cough vaccine last wk, arm sore for 2 days but nothing else

Baby4mum · 31/08/2019 00:19

@SleepingStandingUp - He he he, Thanks! Don’t know how miraculous it is but it is definitely a lazy bum! Haven’t felt any movements till date. Throughout the scan it was sleeping in a ‘dinosaur’ position as the sonographer called it 😬😬

Yeah, may be it is just a reaction to the vaccine. Hopefully will be fine. And spotting - no idea - am gonna ignore it for now and wait and watch!

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 31/08/2019 07:27

Wow @Baby4mum that's a miracle baby for sure! So happy it worked out. I had some brown spotting twice at around 15-17 weeks which turned out to be nothing. Always worth getting checked out though.

@SleepingStandingUp Yep, they've said I can aim for 37-38 weeks with di/di twins provided there are no complications. It will definitely be a C-section; the OB said the steroids are a precaution in case I go into premature labour and they have to do the section early. Otherwise they wouldn't be needed if I get to 37 weeks.

Chuchu14 · 31/08/2019 08:08

@Baby4mum what amazing baby! Felt so emotional reading your story and I'm so pleased it worked out and they found a heartbeat. I had the whooping cough jab and like @SleepingStandingUp had a very sore arm for a few days but other than that nothing. I would contact your midwife if your worried.

We had our 20 week scan yesterday and found out we are having a little girl. Tempted to have another scan to check the gender as the sonographer looked twice and said she couldn't see boy bits but wasnt definitive in her guess.... apparently they are not allowed to say they are sure either way but it left me feeling like maybe she wasnt 100%.... what would you ladies do?

Baby4mum · 31/08/2019 08:19

@lifesnotaspectatorsport @Chuchu14 - Thanks! Yes, just called the midwife and she says since scan yesterday was fine, I shouldn’t be worried. Spotting may be cuz of the speculum test they did a week back or the fibroid I have. And for the hives, they are gone. Hope all is fine!

@Chuchu14 - They did that to me ...first scan that happened at 18 weeks, they said it’s a girl and yesterday they said they can’t say for sure. But wouldn’t bother much. Whatever it is that you are having, you have a beautiful little angel magic going on in there!! But, if you really want to confirm, you have an option to go for the genetic test - harmony or panaroma....

Chuchu14 · 31/08/2019 11:15

@Baby4mum that's great news Smile

Yer I'm not massively fussed either way we just wanted to know this time as we've kept a massive haul of boys stuff from my DS which ideally I wanted to sort through and clear out. However I dont want to get rid of all our boys clothes and then it ends up we're having a boy! I'll probs just hang on to them for now and pick out the neutral stuff we have (which is quite a bit) x

SleepingStandingUp · 31/08/2019 11:57

apparently they are not allowed to say they are sure either way but it left me feeling like maybe she wasnt 100%....
Ours said its boys, and if not its very funny looking girls. I'd say that's him being definitive 😂😂

jenface · 31/08/2019 14:26

We've just had our twenty week scan yesterday - all fine with good amniotic fluid but sonographer wasn't sure if she could see cysts on both kidneys so have referred us to a consultant for second scan. We asked her what the impact would be if there were cysts and she said minimal and it wasn't life threatening. Obviously Google has told us otherwise and has really worried us with multicystic kidney disease, where if neither kidney is functioning the baby won't be able to survive. Does anyone else have any experience of this at all?

SleepingStandingUp · 31/08/2019 18:35

Sorry the scan was so worrisome.

Stay of Google is my advice.

It can very easily be a misread of the scan, which is why it's good you're getting a second opinion, hopefully quickly?

No experience, just sending you a big hug x

Baby4mum · 31/08/2019 20:50

@jenface - Totally agree with @SleepingStandingUp! Stay off Google....It is very very misleading. Just go for the second opinion and decide after that. All my best wishes with you and the li’l one.

I can totally understand what it feels like...difficult to have piece of mind ....3 weeks back, i had severe pains and I spent 3 nights in and out of A&E...1 doctor said it is my fibroid threatening my pregnancy...another said it is simply UTI....google said it is kidney disease and what not and it eventually turned out to be just minor SPD - pelvis dysfunction after I met a consultant for a repeat scan and second opinion. I am doing good after correct diagnosis. So just try to relax and hope you get reassurance from the consultant soon! Lots of hugs 🤗🤗

Baby4mum · 31/08/2019 21:01

@Chuchu14 - Yeah, totally makes sense! Didn’t think about that at all (lack of experience - this being my first baby 😬)!

Kinsters · 01/09/2019 07:23

Baby4mum congratulations! Must have been a rollercoaster for you.

Jenface sorry about the scan, Google will always tell you the absolute worst case scenario so yeah, stay away! The sonographer would have said if they wee very concerned.

lifesnotaspectatorsport nothing particularly good about the pig, I just think pigs are cute and our foetus nickname is pig in the Malaysian language (Babi) 😂. Plus my MIL was an earth pig so it feels like a nice connection.

We bought our first baby items today! A pack of five babygrows, and two little dresses from Mothercare - can't believe we're actually having a baby!!

Kinsters · 01/09/2019 07:24

Also I was shocked how expensive some of the clothes were, saw a really beautiful little dress but it cost more than I'd spend on a dress for myself - and she'd only wear it for a couple of months. Crazy.
