Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's

lonelyonee · 24/07/2019 13:55

Hello!
Just wanted to start a new thread specifically for women who are in their late twenties & are having their first baby in March 2020! 🙂
Not trying to exclude anyone just think it will be nice to speak to women who are in the same sort of circumstances as myself. Plus the other March threads are pretty full!

Bit about me:

  • due 28th March 2020
  • 27 years old (DP is 24)
  • was on the combination pill for 12 years
  • been with DP a year and a half
  • SO excited as this is both our first baby (DP's ex had a miscarriage @ 10 weeks a few years ago)
  • feeling nauseous, boobs are killing, weeing loads & having cramps/pains.

Look forward to hearing your stories & sharing this experience with you! 🙂 xx

@lonelyonee Oooh what a lovely bump you've got!

Oh yes I heard my waters slosh, she kicked me so damn hard, it was the most bizarre experience? Is yours active?

I'm with you on the PJs when I'm at home, I have some nice maternity nighties too which I will also use when I go into the hospital!

The ceremony is boring and impersonal, I thought it was your baby and your baby only but mostly they aren't, you have to go through the whole ceremony and baptism with other mothers and their baby which I just found uncomfortable to watch as I was there for my friend, not strangers.. it almost felt like we were gate crashing 🙈

lonelyonee · 03/12/2019 19:40

@HighOnStilts cheers, you too! I'm still so desperate for it to be bigger people keep saying it's small 🤷🏼‍♀️
That's amazing and also very weird! Can't say I've had anything even close to that although little man is moving around A LOT.
Yup pjs all the way, gotta be comfy!
I agree, there is a way you can get the ceremony to be just you but even so I can't pretend to be religious. Shame because I love the idea of the celebration and the godparents ☹️ might just have a party 😂

OP posts:
HighOnStilts · 04/12/2019 08:11

@lonelyonee You look just lovely for this stage! I'm thankfully past the stage of just looking like I've eaten too many pies and actually have a round bump now. I know I'm getting bigger too as shaving in the bath is proving increasingly difficult.. I dread having to do it 🤣

To be honest, just have a party and then a nice announcement to your god parents to be!

We're having a fair few god parents and they will literally be getting sent a nice card each asking them, not really arsed about making a song and dance of it lol. Haven't even thought about a baby shower yet, I think my sister is organising one but I wouldn't really care if I didn't have one lol. I'm more focused on this baby and the house move at the moment to really care about anything else 🙈 x

lonelyonee · 07/12/2019 18:08

@HighOnStilts OMG so sorry I've only just seen your reply! Don't remember if the thread went white or I opened it and forgot 🤷🏼‍♀️ bloody baby brain!
Yeah same I'm glad now it's more bump like than could be a bit of excess fat or a large meal haha. I think the proof is how it looks without clothes, in the last week or so it's defo looking like a bump to me. So exciting!
Yeah I'm not gonna decide for definite just yet but I do want to have some sort of celebration for family.
Oh goodness! I wouldn't even know where to begin with choosing godparents, you don't want to upset anyone do you! Tradition for a boy is two godfathers one godmother then free other way around for a girl I THINK. But that's religious and it's your decision at the end of the day so we can have however many we like can't we 🙂
Baby shower I've had to set a date for in advance as my friends all work shifts in different jobs and they've had to book it off so I wanted to give a lot of notice. I am also focusing on housing as I'm still looking for a house to move into ASAP before baby comes.
Attended an antenatal class this morning which was nice, I felt like I already knew pretty much everything but I enjoyed it a lot. Also got to look around my local midwife led unit as that was where it was held which was good to know. Have you been to one or planning to go?
I'm also thinking about having a look around my hospital as they've made that available now ☺️

Hope everyone else is doing well? Tagging the most active posters...

Hopefully anyone else on here sees 🙂🙂

@lonelyonee Ohh honey don't worry lol! It's easy to forget about MN to be honest! I only tend to browse on here when I've got nothing better to do 🤣

I'm the same, when I look in the mirror naked I'm like.. oh jesus the preggo belly is real now! Haha!
As for god parents, I think anything goes these days, we're asking my sister and her partner, my OH sister and her partner and then my OH best friend to be god father. He's just lost his mum so it'll be a nice suprise for him.

Trying to drop hints to my sis to get organising the baby shower asap as it'll be time to pop before we know it! I've partially considered antenatal classes but don't think I'm going to bother in all honesty, it's nice that you get to look around your local maternity unit though!! I'll be transfering my care to another town as we'll be moving (hopefully in Jan) so the thought of all that is stressing me out already. I just want to get in the new house and start nesting... argh!!!

We have ordered our pram now so I am very excited for that to come. We decided (well I decided... 🙄) on the Stokke Xplory V6. My other half just goes along with me for a quiet life lol. Although I think he'll thank me for it as it's a high up pram and he's tall!!

Hope everyone else is well too! 😊 x

DaniX91 · 08/12/2019 08:30

Hey @lonelyonee glad to hear you're doing well ☺️ your bump is lookin lovely and so is @HighOnStilts I'll attach mine from Friday. Looks like we're all fans of black 😂
I'm good thanks, my only complaints are heartburn and pain in my hips and legs from lying on my sides in bed but doing great other than that!
The weeks really are flying now, does anyone else agree? I think once Christmas is over March will just be here!x

Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's
HighOnStilts · 08/12/2019 09:25

@DaniX91 Good morning chick! Your bump is looking luuuuuurvely! 😍 haha yes, all black everything! It's the easiest colour to work with right? 🤣
I'm the same as you, feeling a few aches and pains in my sides and tail bone from the positions I've been sleeping in!
God yeah the time is flying by now.. I'm 25 weeks today so essentially 15 weeks left until my due date 😳 x

DaniX91 · 08/12/2019 11:13

@HighOnStilts aww thankyou ❤️ I absolutely love having a bump! Not sure if I'll be saying the same when it's huuuuuuge though 😂.
It's really uncomfortable isn't it, only going to get worse too 😫.
Time is just going nowhere, I've got 13 weeks 5 days until my due date.
Got a 4D scan booked for 2 weeks today, can't wait to see her little face. We had one at 22weeks for my birthday but this one should be a lot clearer.
When is everyone starting maternity? X

HighOnStilts · 08/12/2019 13:28

@DaniX91 So do I! I love my bump but yeah.. give it another couple of months and we probably wont be saying that 🤣 my bump isn't huge so I'm kind of hoping I carry small, but knowing my luck I'll balloon in the final few weeks, lol!

Wow it's even less time for you!! 🙈 We've also got a 4D scan booked on the 16th of Jan, I absolutely cannot wait. I'm desperate to know whos features she's gonna have!

I've been somewhat lucky in one sense, I haven't had to work throughout my pregnancy (lucky for me my other half has a good job and we got inheritance from family) I feel so bloody awful for you ladies who are still working, I don't know how I'd cope I'm pathetic lol. X

DaniX91 · 08/12/2019 14:36

@HighOnStilts u have a lovely bump. I just can't stop stroking it haha I love it when I haven't felt her kick for a while then I put my hand on my belly and she kicks right onto my hand 😍.
Oooh exciting! How far will u be for your 4D scan?
It's hard work being with a class full of 4yr olds for 6/7 hours a day but I'm hopefully going part time once baby is here so I'm looking forward to that x

HighOnStilts · 08/12/2019 17:03

@DaniX91 Aaaaah thank you love 😍
My little girl does that as well!! She's so active though sometimes I do wonder where she gets all her energy and strength from! 😳
Last night I was lying in bed with OH and she was kicking me so damn hard, the OH was in absolute awe as you can guarantee when he goes for a feel she usually stops! Poor fella started taking it personally as well I felt so bad for him.
He usually rings me as he's on his way home from work and she will start kicking whilst I'm talking on the phone to him.. it's the little things like that, that are so heartwarming.
Oh wow you absolute warrior woman!! Bet all the kids love asking about your bump though? I don't blame you going part-time to be honest. In all honesty I'll either get myself a little part-time job or not work as looking at it financially, child care might end up costing us more than me not working if you get me. X

DaniX91 · 09/12/2019 17:49

@HighOnStilts aww that's so sweet isn't it ❤️ yea my partner got a little bit like that when he couldn't feel her. My belly jumps when she moves now though so he can definitely feel that and she actually kicked him in the back the other night when I was cuddling into him in bed 😂.
The kids love it, there's a handful of the girls constantly walking around the classroom with teddies shoved up their jumpers haha.
I get exactly what u mean, you'd end up going to work just to pay someone else to look after her. It's pointless if u can be at home with her ☺️.
Luckily my mam is having her the 3 days that I'll work so no childcare costs for us x

HighOnStilts · 09/12/2019 23:05

@DaniX91 Yeah my partner loves a poking war with her now, he's in awe everytime I dont think it'll get old hehe. Is your girl loving to jump on your cervix and bladder? Mine likes to do that pretty regularly and it feels so weird... basically feels like my vag is throbbing... sorry for tmi 😂 the most bizarre feeling ever.

Oh that's so lovely about the girls in your class, honestly how sweet!! 😍
You're lucky that you can get your mum to babysit too! At least that way you can still work and not be losing out on child care costs!

I had a really sad day today, we had to have our family dog put down this morning, he was 17 (amazing age) but he was starting to fail and his back legs completely gave way and were basically paralysed this morning, had to rush him to vets who said there is absolutely nothing they can do and the most humane thing would be to put him to sleep. I stayed to comfort him whilst they injected him, then baby started kicking me as he passed.. it absolutely teared me apart but he passed peacefully and I'm glad he's having a nice long rest in doggy heaven now 😭❤

DaniX91 · 10/12/2019 17:37

@HighOnStilts haha yep she likes doing that and it makes me jump! She kicked me last night and for the first time it actually hurt a bit!
I am very lucky that my mam is able to do it ☺️.
Aww no, I'm really sorry to hear that. It's awful cos they really are part of the family but atleast he isn't in any pain now bless him❤️ x

lonelyonee · 10/12/2019 17:41

Oh wow I've missed loads. Seriously need to sort out my threads I think 😂

@HighOnStilts @DaniX91
Can't believe you're so prepared with godparents @HighOnStilts I wouldn't know where to begin! I'm a control freak so I'm going to co-organise with my friends. They have the date so we just need to sort where and decor and who's coming, although it will be a very short list of people since I don't have many friends. Ooo very exciting on the pram! Will you be storing it at home? I've been told I'm not allowed to keep it at home before he's born and it's bad luck or something... so over dramatic 🙄😂

Oh wow @DaniX91 look at your bump! 🥰 I'm also having pains, I get sciatica anyway but it's a bit worse and more frequent now, I've also had carpal tunnel a couple of times in my hands which is horrific 😭 but overall can't really complain yet as I'm sure I'm having an okay time of it. Weeks are defo flying by, I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and just so exited!
& all black yeah! I have to wear my black dress for work as it's the only thing I have maternity wise from work, I usually just chuck on a jumper also as it's bloody freezing at the moment!
Will hopefully be finishing work the end of Feb... stacking my holidays around my maternity leave is the plan so maternity leave won't start officially until mid March... but we shall seeeee.
No 4D scans or anything booked as money is tight unless someone gifts us one for Xmas.
Work admittedly is a strain. I'm expected to walk around a lot and make drinks for people so it can get hard sometimes when I'm feeling tired.
I also play with him by poking him and he kicks back, it makes it feel more real that's a little person in there... mental!!!
We haven't discussed childcare really yet, I'm sure my partners mum will want to have him a little bit but it's something we need to discuss at some point soon. It's difficult fur us though as he works evenings so I don't actually see him that much ☹️
Lots of baby jumping on Christ knows what but sometimes he's hitting something that feels very horrible which may be similar to what you're talking about @HighOnStilts
Very sorry to hear about your loss, animals really are part of the family aren't they. Sounds like he had a good run though! I'd be devastated if I lost my babies (cats) but they're all so young and house cats so I'm hoping we have many years with them yet 🤞🏻

Sorry might be a bit disjointed in my reply there was trying to reply to pretty much everything you guys have discussed whilst I was away!

Hope everyone's okay, was wondering about everyone getting their matb1 forms and applying for maternity leave. Currently waiting for mine in the post... a little worried it's going to be give into work late and they will penalise me for it ☹️

OP posts:
jl2345 · 21/12/2019 20:18

Hi @lonelyonee just clicked on this thread as noticed it has been quiet for a while. I asked the midwife for mine at my 25 weeks appointment, have you got yours sorted yet? Wondering what you ladies have bought now? Our buying sorta snowballed with lots of trips to Mothercare as the offers (as bad as I feel about people losing jobs etc) are just too good to miss. We’ve now got bedside cot, steriliser and bottle warmer, travel system and a few bits of clothes :) picked up a baby Bjorn baby carrier from there today for £37 reduced from £80 too. Worth a visit to a shop if you have one close by as there is so much in store still x

lonelyonee · 24/12/2019 09:35

Hey @jl2345 I know it's died ☹️☹️☹️

Yeah she sent it to me through the post, so I have it now but with the Christmas period and having to send the original via post to my works head office, they won't be receiving it until I'm 28 weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've emailed them to let them know I was waiting for it so I'm just hoping they don't penalise me for it.
Bought a next to me crib yesterday second hand so have been researching how's best to wash it (even though it has been cleaned I'm going to for peace of mind). Other than that nothing really as we're going to be moving house next month and every penny we have is going into that at the minute.
There's one not too far from us but with no spare cash and the discounts not being that great I honestly don't see much point yet. May have a look in the new year if I can.

How's bump coming along? 🙂

OP posts:
HighOnStilts · 27/12/2019 21:43

Hey ladies! Hope you are all well! Did we all have a nice Christmas? We wanted a quiet one, just me and my other half but it ended up being three days of non stop mayhem, bobbing here and there to visit family I was designated driver obviously with not drinking but honestly I am absolutely shattered now!! Hoping for a moving date in the next few weeks so will have to start slowly packing up the house! My belly is getting quite tight and uncomfortable (especially after I've had food) any of you girls getting uncomfortable yet? Not having trouble sleeping thankfully and I'm hoping it stays that way but I am finding that during the day my belly is starting to get in the way 😂 x

jl2345 · 28/12/2019 09:03

@lonelyonee I know, it’s literally in the past week or so the discounts seem to have gone super low so we’ve ended up getting a few bits, got a bedside crib for more than half price so was happy with that! Fingers crossed work will be understanding about MatB1, especially since it’s not actually your fault! Bump coming along nicely, kicking away all over the place 😂 what about you?
@HighOnStilts has a lovely Christmas, just mayhem so sounding similar to yours! My other half’s side of the family have loadsss of children already, so it was manic when they were all together 😂 to be honest though, I wasn’t overly excited for Christmas this year, I think in my head it was just another milestone to pass before baby arrives! Great news about the moving date, fingers crossed it’s soon, I hate moving and packing, I’ve already told my other half I’m only moving once more when we need somewhere bigger and that’s it 😂 tummy not so much uncomfortable but getting a lot of tightening/stretching sort of feelings, especially when I’m laid down. Only problem I’m having sleeping is my hips go completely DEAD and ache like mad so have to swap sides every few hours which is a pain!

lonelyonee · 28/12/2019 10:58

Hey @HighOnStilts meh as always! Hoping baby will bring some Christmas spirit our way next year tbh!
Sounds like you had a good time though, I had all the panicky stress without actually going anywhere or doing anything other than going to family for Christmas dinner.
Ooo fingers crossed it's sooner rather than later, we are currently waiting for it to be back to normal in January so we can sign for a house we found and basically chuck the money at them. Hoping to move in the last couple of weeks of Jan so we have a little crossover between apartment and house to make it easier on us and the fur babies. I've already started packing like a crazy woman! I have an obsession with vacuum pack bags so everything fabric is going in those (plus I can carry them then!).
Yes! Bump has been very tight on and off, I think I've had a few Braxton Hicks tbh because on some occasions it's been soooo tight then later felt relaxed if that makes sense. Do you feel full all the time also? I hardly ever feel hungry so I'm pretty much forcing myself to eat atm!
Lucky you on the sleep front, my sleep is awful, I cannot get comfy and I'm constantly swapping from left to right side and back again, plus the added bonus of needing to wee in the middle of the night & the fur babies thinking it must be breakfast time so they all get up and are awake then causing mischief!
Apparently my bump is quite small so not really finding it getting in the way at all yet.

@jl2345 fingers crossed also, just annoys me, I feel like my midwife is just going through the motions with me and not actually being thorough. She's told me to go have bloods done for 28 weeks. That's it. From what I can see from other people's experiences this is the glucose tolerance test? & I shouldn't eat or drink for 12 hours before? & I could be there for several hours to do a comparison test? 🙄
That's great, gotta love a bargain! I'm just sorta waiting around for my sister with the travel system since she's buying it for us. Annoying doesn't cover it, just hoping there isn't a stupid wait on them as some are on back order.
Oh baby doesn't stop moving! He's VERY active, rolling around doing summersaults and all sorts 😂 not entirely sure when he's sleeping, but trying to track it as best I can.

Me too with the sleep thing it's a pain, not entirely sure how I'm going to get through the third trimester working full time 😂😂😂

Glad you both had a good Xmas!
Has anyone thought about their baby showers yet as well? I've had to plan the date of mine (so my friends could book off work due to their demanding jobs!), for the end of Feb but as for planning... thinking of just having it at my house to make it easier for me.
Also planning on taking a trip to my local mothercare tomorrow. Hoping I can find a couple of bargains!

OP posts:
HighOnStilts · 28/12/2019 20:00

@jl2345 @lonelyonee glad to hear both you ladies and bumps are well! I am feeling much tighter and I think I have also had Braxton Hicks a few times too, especially if I've gotten up too quickly out of the bath and essentially jarred my stomach muscles, feels like it takes ages to wear off as well which isn't particularly comfortable when I'm trying to dry off and get my PJs on lol.

Do you girls still have much to buy? I need a changing bag, bottles, breast pump, steriliser amongst other bits.. it'll get bought sooner or later but it's on the back burner at the mo as our focus is just on getting moved. Not looking forward to packing the house up that's for sure! 🙈

We did buy the Stokke pram in the end which is currently set up in the spare room, it's an absolute stunner of a pram and I can't help but have a little peek at it everytime I go past the room! I just want my little bubba in there already haha!
Either of you getting anxious about the idea of childbirth? I'm planning nothing (if I can have a waterbirth, fantastic) if I need a c-section then so be it, as long as baby gets out safely but I am getting really nervous at the thought now! I've only got 12 weeks left 🙉 x

jl2345 · 28/12/2019 22:05

@HighOnStiltslonelyonee I thought they only did the glucose tolerance test if you have a family history of diabetes, baby is measuring big, or they pick something abnormal up in urine sample, not 100% certain though! My next appointment is also 28 weeks, midwife could only get me booked in for the same morning as my first day back at work after Christmas hols, feel so bad going for an appointment on the first morning after nearly two and a half weeks off, then have my first growth scan in the same week too! I know they do blood tests and start measuring your bump at 28 weeks.

My sister is organising my baby shower, all I know is that it’s mid February!

@HighOnStilts I’m the same about having the baby, I have no birth plan, feel like I need to get clued up on pain relief etc though as I literally have NO clue! Are you going to any antenatal classes? I know what you mean about the Pram, we bought the Mamas and Papas Ocarro travel system in Black Friday sales, it’s currently at my Grandad’s but I can’t help but have a little look at it every time I go round to see him! In terms of buying things, think we have most things as picked loads up in sales... only thing we still need to get is actual nursery furniture but since baby will be with us for at least first 6 months I’m in no hurry :)

jl2345 · 28/12/2019 22:06

Also, saw this the other day if it’s any use to anybody x

Due March 2020 - FIRST BABY in late 20's
lonelyonee · 28/12/2019 22:08

@HighOnStilts we only really need changing bag and travel system now, but don't really wanna buy a changing bag until I know what colour travel system we are having so yeah. I am planning to breastfeed, so probably do need to get a breast pump, I have one of those suction ones at the moment. Struggling to find an affordable pump that doesn't have reviews that put me off (looking at you Tommee Tippee!).
Same with regards to moving, we are moving only a couple of streets away though so not too much trouble, I reckon packing will be way easier than unpacking!
I'm super chill about the birth tbh, what will be will be and you can't plan it. What I do know is I want all the pain relief available, I want to be able to move around the room and do what I want, and I do not want intervention unless absolutely necessary, especially forceps/suction.
I'm going to try to go without an epidural but if I need it at least it's an option. Main thing is like you said baby is safe and healthy.
I know! Is it bad I'm wishing the weeks away now? I'm hoping what with the move and work being busy it'll fly by!
