@Whisky2014. Could easily be the tea then. Stopping it around mealtimes/when you take pregnacare has made the biggest difference for me and my iron actually went up a few points! It sucks as I have to wait an hr for my morning cuppa but I guess it’s only for a few more weeks.

@Whisky2014 were you taking the Healthy astray NHS vitamins? If so they don’t contain any iron, so that might be the cause of your low levels!

Tefiti2 · 10/07/2019 09:06

Astray? Start!

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 10/07/2019 10:03

@Whisky2014 along with iron, you need to make sure you're getting enough Vit C as it helps with iron absorbtion. Perfect excuse for summer strawberries and cream if you ask me!

happydays00 · 10/07/2019 10:04

Ah @BBell2 I've never really been out of my post labour big pants and my DD is 3 this year 😂 I'm not even ashamed either. They're just so comfy!

Whisky2014 · 10/07/2019 10:30

@tefiti2 yeb that's the ones! Can't believe they don't have iron in them ffs! Will get onto pregnacare today. Jeez

Honestly, have been eating loads of fruit and veg! But i love it so no hardship!

Megan2018 · 10/07/2019 10:40

I'm feeling sorry for myself as have a cough and cold :(
Every time I cough a bit of wee comes out - oh the glamour!

Finding it hard to stay on the GD diet when I feel this rotten - what I'd like is some Lucozade and some chocolate! Going to have a Sprite Zero instead - but not the same, my throat wants something really cold and fizzy.

Have taken some paracetamol which is helping but it is really humid here today so feeling very warm!

I was doing so well too with feeling good!

Karigan195 · 10/07/2019 10:47

Had this for the last week Megan. Ice lollies became my saviour and a flask of chipped ice. Home made ones out of squash so not high sugar

Hope you feel better soon!

Megan2018 · 10/07/2019 11:00

@Karigan195

Lollies would be lovely but I am stuck in the office all week, only home to sleep 9pm-7am, it's graduations at work. Typical!

Karigan195 · 10/07/2019 11:06

Ahhh our office has a little fridge freezer so I have a stock in there! Thermos with ice chips?

Midwife appt this morning, everything going well with babies and me. I asked her a few questions about her experience of twin vaginal delivery just to get a better understanding of what it could be like on the delivery ward. She said she has been around alot of twin births and it's usually the 2nd baby that causes the issues. She said if I was her daughter she would persuade me to have a C-section. So I think that's made up my mind.
Also I turn 37weeks over the bank holiday weekend so I'm going to try and persuade consultant to book it in before that when I'm 36+

boodles101 · 10/07/2019 11:45

Oh I also asked midwife to measure my belly just for fun. I'm 30+5 and belly measures at 38 weeks!

Stroan · 10/07/2019 11:56

@boodles101 so good to have some honesty, sounds like a very sensible plan.

That's the same week I'm hoping to have mine! I've heard from a doctor in the department that they try to do all electives on Tuesday/Wed/Thur. Wed 21st would be ideal as I know I can definitely get childcare!

boodles101 · 10/07/2019 12:02

stroan yes I think most hospitals do ELCS on certain days of the week, not sure what days mine offers yet. We could end up having babies on the same day!

kyles101 · 10/07/2019 12:17

@BBell2 dd thinking bump is her bday pressie is the cutest!! Will she cry if it ends up being a brother??

@boodles101 argh! Bless you and your 38 week bump!!

Hsunshine · 10/07/2019 12:25

Does 5 sleepsuits in newborn size and 4 sleepsuits and 1 outfit in up to 1 month sound like a good enough start until baby is here and I know the size?
I of course have --100-- a few sleepsuits in 0-3

DustyDoorframes · 10/07/2019 12:32

@Hsunshine that sounds like plenty.

@boodles101 and @Stroan very exciting to think of you two almost knowing your babies' birthdays!!!

Stroan · 10/07/2019 13:16

@hsunshine sounds like plenty. If you need more, you can always order online or send someone to a supermarket. Better to have less than too many in the wrong size.

@DustyDoorframes it seems a bit weird to know in advance, but also really good to have a rough date in mind. I already know that he has to be born before the 28th August. Nice to trim a week off the pregnancy!

How is bump today? Back to normal or still hiding down low after being sat on?

BBell2 · 10/07/2019 13:23

@kyles101 I dont think she will be upset with a boy (toys and dolls dont have genders and her friends are boys), she is just so adamant it's a girl, I have almost given up arguing 50/50 she is right and she is certainly convincing. People think we have been lying about staying team yellow she is so determined. I think the "big sister" thing has confused her, that there must be a little sister too.

@boodles101 do you want a story that might support your section decision?

Moraxella · 10/07/2019 13:37

I have just signed a four page disclaimer about the risks of labour, vaginal delivery, C/S, postnatal complications and neonatal problems (not sure retrospective consent is valid 32weeks later) and now borderline terrified 😥 but at least I am prepared. They should give this out in sex ed.

Stroan · 10/07/2019 14:00

Eek @moraxella is that a standard thing?!

I don't think I would want to know.

IVEgottheDECAF · 10/07/2019 14:11

Those who have been prescribed iron how much are you on a day? Ive just been prescribed 3 x 200 per day. Seems a lot.

Karigan195 · 10/07/2019 14:13

@Moraxella. What on earth?? Nothing like that in my area. How strange!

OP posts:
Stroan · 10/07/2019 14:24

@ivegotthedecaf 210mg, 3 times a day. But I am a rebel and only take it twice. The digestive effects in combination with some of the other stuff I am on are really not pleasant.

My levels are always borderline, and fluctuate a lot so I'm comfortable with that.

boodles101 · 10/07/2019 14:36

BBell2 yes please hit me with your story. I was 90% convinced for ELCS but started to think if I go into labour before that date then I could try natural. But with the midwife saying I would be heavily monitored, tonnes of doctors in the room and unlikely to be able to do any of the stuff from the hypnobirthing course, then I just don't really Wana do that!
