@Victoriaaaaaaaa what sick pay do you get? I'd have got 6 months full pay so I'd still earn the minimum amount but I guess it might depend on what your sick pay is like.

Also I remember if I booked a day off sick past X weeks for the pregnancy they'd automatically start my mat leave. Something like 28 or 32 weeks. Worth double checking

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 18/07/2019 11:19

@SleepingStandingUp I only get SSP

Apparently if you take a sick line or phone sick more than 3 days in a row 4 weeks before your due then your employer can start your maternity leave without your permission..
but that’s your employers decision, mines told me unless i had an actual line they wouldn’t start mines untill I asked :)

Sick pay..
depends on your employer.. I don’t get paid for the odd day off but if I have a line it’s full pay IF pregnancy related, SSP if it’s not pregnancy related..

Hope that helps? Xx

Ceejay19 · 18/07/2019 12:25

@Victoriaaaaaaaa when are you due? It should still be a few weeks to the qualifying weeks I think. I'm due in early Jan and the qualifying weeks for me aren't until the end of September.

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 18/07/2019 12:27

@Ceejay19 8th Jan. qualifying week is end of September but they take the pay from 8 weeks before that which make it end of July beginning of August

Ah ok, that makes sense. And is really helpful to know - thanks! I was playing around on the calculator for it yesterday as I'm self employed and need to figure it out but thought it was just the latter pay packet that mattered.

DaisyMay25 · 18/07/2019 12:50

Just saw this on the pregnancy boards if anyone is interested

@Ceejay19 noo they take the 8 weeks pay add it all up and then divide by 8 and make sure that it's over £116 min a week c

Does anyone have days where they start to don't they're pregnant?! I feel like that today - a few days ago I thought I was feeling the odd flutter but it's all quiet now and I just feel like I've got a bit of flab around the tummy area and that's it! Well...and the acid reflux Grin

karryk · 18/07/2019 13:53

Don't know what happened to that first line. Should have read 'don't feel they're pregnant' Smile

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 18/07/2019 14:04

@karryk That was my first pregnancy from about 10 weeks up till I felt movement at 15 weeks. Symptoms really dropped off.

Not so this time 😕 Having acid reflux problems and bloating, still nauseous some mornings - wish I were symptom-free!

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 18/07/2019 14:07

Yesterday was really weird. I got in from work, struggling with a cough, hungry but had reflux from fried food at lunch, toddler playing up ... DH had made me a hot cross bun, was trying to eat that when I bit my lip for the third time that day - it really hurt, I was so mad for a second and then burst into uncontrollable sobs. Which set off my coughing and then made me have to run to the toilet to vomit up the hot cross bun. Ridiculous! Only in pregnancy ... 😳

FirstTim3Mummy · 18/07/2019 14:56

@Victoriaaaaaaaa what do you mean by "qualifying week"?

I also only have SSP as I've used company limit already. I've been signed off to end of this week.

My due date is 9th so day after you 🙂🤗

karryk · 18/07/2019 15:13

@lifesnotaspectatorsport Oh no! I hope things ease up soon! My nausea is pretty much gone although I still don't have an appetite in the evenings. Definitely have acid issues. This will (hopefully) be baby 2 so I was sort of expecting to feel movement earlier than last time but a bit of paranoia-fuelled googling has shown me that that's not necessarily the case!

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 18/07/2019 15:19

@karryk Do you know if your placenta is anterior or posterior? Both my babies have anterior placenta so doc says I may not feel kicks till 15-16 weeks again even though there's two.

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 18/07/2019 15:33

@FirstTim3Mummy our qualifying week is 29th September. So between the 4th August and 29th September your total wages you take will be added up and then divided by 8. If it is less than £116 a week average then you do not qualify for SMP and have to apply for maternity allowance through the government.

Hi, i'm late to the party, can I join the countdown to January 2020?

DD is 31st January 2020; i'm 12 weeks tomorrow. I had my 12 week scan on Tuesday, all is well and baby was very active with a good heartbeat.

Read through thread #5 and there are a lot of lovely scan pics, excited to countdown the next six & a bit months until baby is here :)

Bentley111 · 18/07/2019 15:59

Oh no @Victoriaaaaaaaa I'm really worried after reading that. I've been signed off since week 6, due date same as yours. I'm due to go back the week after next. That's so unfair. I might give ACAS a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 18/07/2019 16:24

@Bentley111 I'm tempted to phone up as I'm nowhere near ready to go back and feel horrendous but I don't want to forfeit SMP and have to mess around with maternity allowance

SleepingStandingUp · 18/07/2019 16:43

@lifesnotaspectatorsport me too, how's that fair? Surely we deserve to feel Al lthe bumps and kicks if we have to lug two little beasties around lol

Hanraa1 · 18/07/2019 16:53

@LemonyLimey hello!! Congrats on your scan and all being well. Is it your first?

Reading all this mat pay stuff is very stressful. Really feeling for you all, make sure you're getting good and accurate advice. Its madness that you should be made to return when you're unwell otherwise be penalised so heavily.

Today is the most uncomfortable I have felt. I feel so gross and sweaty and fat! On public transport and will probably growl at anyone who tries to sit next to me 😠

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 18/07/2019 17:01

Welcome @LemonyLimey 😊

@SleepingStandingUp I expect we'll be heartily sick of 4 legs kicking us by the end 😂

HungryPanda92 · 18/07/2019 17:07

So I really don't feel like I deserve to post here as I haven't been active at all but I don't know where else to turn. Just had my 12 week scan and have been told that baby's NT measurement is over 12mm. I know the norm is like 3. 5 max and I'm devastated. Don't know what to do with myself know. Literally come home and gone to bed... Sorry everyone for the negativity

SleepingStandingUp · 18/07/2019 17:13

@HungryPanda92 don't be sorry and of course you can post here. What have they said to you? What did they say to do next? I'm so sorry you're going throughthis fear x

SleepingStandingUp · 18/07/2019 17:14

@lifesnotaspectatorsport never 😊😊😂😂😂
