I've got my scan tomorrow, just wondering how much water to drink before?

Kinsters · 24/06/2019 10:09

How far along are you Daisy I didn't drink much especially before my 10 week or 12 week and there was no trouble seeing the baby using the abdominal ultrasound.

I'm not sure if it's different in the UK though because at my scan they didn't do any detailed measurements or checks.

beth3735 · 24/06/2019 10:10

@DaisyMay25 I was told to drink a litre for my 10 week scan. But I’ve been told a pint would’ve done

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2019 10:24

@Kinsters I'll be 12+6 tomorrow when I go, all my other ones have been internal ones so empty bladder, this is new to me haha

@beth3735 I was thinking 500ml, do you think that'll be enough? A litre seems far too much

Bentley111 · 24/06/2019 10:27

Good luck today @MummyBearBoo I'm thinking of you x

DinoGreen · 24/06/2019 10:38

@DaisyMay25 my scan was at 11am yesterday and I drank a cup of tea first thing and a 500ml bottle of water. My bladder was def very full as I needed a wee before we got there! The sonographer said it was fine. I couldn’t have had anymore or I wouldn’t have been able to not go!

BowiesJumper · 24/06/2019 10:41

Good luck @MummyBearBoo

I had an awful stitch yesterday so had to lie down, think it's the ligaments playing up again - they're much worse earlier on this time (2nd pregnancy). And I have a v early night last night too, still so tired!

I'm still impatiently waiting for my 12 week scan date, it will be the first scan for us too.

Daisy - I think a couple of pints worth is fine. I drank too much for my first one and they had to ask me to go and empty it as it was TOO full!

MummyBearBoo · 24/06/2019 10:50

I had about 750 ml water before scan
It was all normal obvs they can't tell about genetic condition til they get CVS results Friday or Monday but NT was normal so consultant said she'd be really surprised if it had Down syndrome heartbeat 162 bpm said I was measuring at 12 weeks even tho I'm 11+3! Baby was wriggling so much they struggled to measure - CVS was ok just got a sore tummy and feel a bit sick! Thanks all for wishing me luck! Xx

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2019 10:57

@MummyBearBoo great news about NT, I hope your results come back soon and all is fine! Glad the scan went well

McHelenz · 24/06/2019 11:14

@MummyBearBoo glad all went ok today and you're able to distract yourself until the results come in x

MummyBearBoo · 24/06/2019 11:24

Thanks! I'll let you know when I hear hope everyone else is getting on ok xx

MummyBearBoo · 24/06/2019 11:24

I really appreciate all your support xxx

Anon120 · 24/06/2019 11:26

Good luck @MummyBearBoo I had about a pint and it was fine for me :)

Does anyone know of any good second baby sites/ markets? I know a bit early but was just curious to see what there is. The cost of everything is also overwhelming me atm tbh 😬

MummyBearBoo · 24/06/2019 11:36

Hope your scan goes ok @DaisyMay25 xx

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2019 12:01

@Anon120 where do you live? Near me there's a mums2mums market every so often

Anon120 · 24/06/2019 12:07

@DaisyMay25 oh I'll check it out! am in SE London :)

Mirana · 24/06/2019 12:21

@MummyBearBoo Ahh I'm so relieved for you, NT measurement sounds great. Have everything crossed for you, can imagine the next few days will drag terribly but we're all here 🤗

anitagreen · 24/06/2019 12:33

My scans in two days I'm really nervous now Confused

winter138 · 24/06/2019 14:13

Ladies thank you all so much for your support and reassurance yesterday.

I didn't have anymore blood but my cramping got worse and my lower back pain was particularly bad. I stayed in bed pretty much all day yesterday and after waking up with cramps and some spotting again today, I contacted the hospital and got an apppointment and scan this morning. Well I have never been soooo relieved in my life! Baby is measuring bang on my original dates and was moving like mad with a very healthy heartbeat. Everything exactly as you would hope to see it at this stage. I was told to not wait a day next time and if I am worried to get straight back in touch for support which was reassuring. I felt very well cared for and supported which was lovely.

The relief is unreal. I can now actually believe i am pregnant and might actually be able to begin to enjoy it now. I had no idea how nervous I had been until I felt the relief!!

The doc said that as it's my first baby and I'm fairly small, it's likely just ligaments stretching and causing discomfort. The bleeding is nothing to worry about.

Phew!! Also relieved to find out there was just one in there as twins run in my family!!!

Anon120 · 24/06/2019 14:16

@winter138 lovely news!! So happy for you x

@anitagreen it's the waiting that causes the most anxiety I find... just feels never ending. But am sure everything will go well and looking. Forward to hearing all about it! Z

splishandsplash · 24/06/2019 14:51

Hi all!
I had my 12 week scan today, if you go by period dates I'm 12 weeks 4 days but measured at 11 weeks 6 days today.
Absolutely besotted with our beautiful bean so far. I felt like the scan was really long but I just loved it because I got to see our baby moving around and even waved and kicked a few times 😍
Heart beat 169bpm was magically to hear for the first time 🙈
Cant wait for the sickness to end but now having seen our baby moving and everything I can't wait to see it again! (Yes I had two reassurance scans but only saw the heart beat previously was nice to see the bean moving!) xx

splishandsplash · 24/06/2019 15:16

@DaisyMay25 that's funny as all my family think girl but me and my partner keep referring to it as a he 😂

MummyBearBoo · 24/06/2019 15:26

Thanks @Mirana - I keep referring to mine as he coz with my DD I had no sickness -second pregnancy I was sooooo ill and that was a boy - this time I was much worse than first time but not as bad as second time but think it's boys that make me sick! I'll find out Wednesday I think! Xx

Bentley111 · 24/06/2019 16:17
