@DaisyMay25 ah OK, everything I've read said 11 weeks

@winter138 you'll be asked if you want the s reening to recheck for Downes, Edwards and Patau Syndromes(trisomoes 21, 18 and 13). If so they'll measure the size of the fluid at the back of babies neck and do some blood tests to give you a risk factor. It's worth thinking before your appt if you want it done. It's none invasive so no risk. I think the default is to have it done, but some people do choose to opt out

DaisyMay25 · 19/06/2019 22:46

@SleepingStandingUp just gotta hope they're in an awkward position so you can go back for a freebie haha

SleepingStandingUp · 19/06/2019 23:07

Oooh yeah, good plan.

Guppy, Mama wants two looks for free. Can you refuse to cooperate except to show Mama you're OK the first time. Thanks kiddo!

winter138 · 19/06/2019 23:07

It looks like it's standard in England but not standard in N.Ireland. typical!!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/06/2019 23:11

I imagine the abortion laws / attitudes to abortion come into play with that

DaisyMay25 · 19/06/2019 23:14

@SleepingStandingUp haha it's worth a try right? How long til your scan?

SleepingStandingUp · 19/06/2019 23:15

Next Thursday

MummyBearBoo · 19/06/2019 23:42

If you def want screening do you not get a free dating scan? Coz I have a genetic condition I have CVS to screen for stuff including 21,18 and 13 on me they also check 19 so I get a free dating scan at 8/9 weeks so they can determine exactly when 11 weeks is so they can book me in for CVS then- I know CVS is done earlier than amino tho! Xx

SleepingStandingUp · 19/06/2019 23:46

@MummyBearBoo no routine one is times from your lmp and if you're found to be too early you're rebooked in. Generally though thry catch you within the window so it's all done within your dating scan.

DinoGreen · 20/06/2019 06:04

I booked my 12 week scan yesterday, it’s on 10th July when I’ll be 12+4. I’ve got my private early one on Sunday though, can’t wait!

I’m starting to feel less tired now which is good. Sooo bloated.

karryk · 20/06/2019 07:01

Sending so much love to you @NoMoreFastCars82 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ having been through losses before it breaks my heart whenever it happens to anyone else. Take care of yourself and I hope you're surrounded by lots and lots of love ❤️ ❤️

Cindy61 · 20/06/2019 07:14

My 12 week scan is on 4 July, exactly two weeks later, when I'll be 12+3. Can't wait!! This is going to be a very long two weeks!

Cannyhandleit · 20/06/2019 07:39

I'm so sorry @NoMoreFastCars82, I hope to see you back on these boards very soon.
I am the size of a fecking whale! Only 10 weeks and having to wear maternity jeans and people are already starting to guess! OH is panicking it's twins 🤦‍♀️ 12 week scan isn't until 5th July which is sooooooooo far away

DaisyMay25 · 20/06/2019 09:23

How's everyone doing today?

Anyone got scans today?

mynameisMrG · 20/06/2019 09:29

Still not feeling pregnant over here. I should be enjoying all my new found energy but you can’t help but worry can you. Can’t wait until we are all well into the second trimester and our worries are more about what to pack in our hospital bags!

MonicaGellerHyphenBing · 20/06/2019 09:35

So sorry NoMoreFastCars82, I really thought it would be good news Flowers

@Cannyhandleit I feel massive too, only 9+6 but going to have to get my maternity clothes out very soon. Struggling to find anything to wear to work! I think it’s mostly bloat but my stomach has completely changed shape like my organs have moved up already 😳

Lollypop10 · 20/06/2019 09:51

8 weeks 1 day today. My 12 week scan is booked for 19th July and i’m super excited

Bentley111 · 20/06/2019 09:54

Didn't hear from the midwife re bloods yesterday so hoping no news is good news.
After my "better" day yesterday sickness is back with a vengeance today, been up since 3.30am 🤢

Good luck to all those having scans today xx

Anon120 · 20/06/2019 09:59

Was getting jealous of everyone's scans - my 12 week one is booked for when I'll be 13+4 and I can't wait that long!! Have booked a private one for Sunday.. fingers crossed all goes well :) I booked window to the womb. Has anyone tried them?

Also.. no shame but currently eating a tube of salt and vinegar pringles at my desk.. the whole tube WILL be gone by lunch time 😂😂

DaisyMay25 · 20/06/2019 10:14

@Bentley111 I've always though the rule was no contact from them means all okay. Oh no! The new tablets not working then?

@Anon120 mines at 12+6 and I though that was a long wait! I haven't used them personally but I know others that have and said they're great

BowiesJumper · 20/06/2019 10:21

@SleepingStandingUp sounds like that's your round ligament. I turned over too quickly in bed last night and got a shooting pain in mine. I remember it from last time, it's a right pain (literally!) and can hurt when I sneeze sometimes!

I'm stilllll waiting for my scan date. It's difficult to believe all is well in there, not having had a scan etc. I'm terrified of MMC or something being seriously wrong. I don't know how women did it before scans were invented!

DinoGreen · 20/06/2019 10:47

@Anon120 my scan on Sunday is with Window to the Womb as well!

SleepingStandingUp · 20/06/2019 10:48

How far are you Bowie? I'd def chase up if you're at 10 weeks or so..
Sodding round ligament pain needs to know it's polace, i'm currently sat still so it needs to BOG OFF!!!

I think 40 years ago people just assumed it owuld be fine. You wouldn't really know until you missed a period so the early miscarriages didnt exist as such, if you werent regular you possibly didnt know until even later. Doctor would just be like yeah i'll see you when your fat. MMC / chemical pregnancies / miscariage / still birth etc were all discussed less. Babies who were born early / has serious genetic issues had a much lower survival rate so again you were just less aware of it in general i think unless there was direct familial experience.

BowiesJumper · 20/06/2019 11:13

I'm 10+1 yes. I was at the hospital on Tuesday though (to drop off a new wee sample as they think I have a UTI) and asked at the scan department, and the lady barked "when was your last period? - no we haven't got to that date yet". So just got to hold tight for now! I presume I'll hear in the next week or so. They're clearly really busy!

Missmonkeypenny · 20/06/2019 11:23

My scan on Sunday just gone was Window to the Womb, it was a truly great experience and I’ve actually booked in for a gender scan at the end of July at 16 weeks Grin
